The fashion magazines are crammed full o' beautiful new shoe styles t' take ye from th' early fall months into th' cold, gray days o' winter. Here’s what everyone is buzzin' about in terms o' fantastic footwear trends this season:
Ballet flats are still in play this fall. The difference is they are goin' beyond solid colored flats from years past and into textures, prints and jewels. Colors still make a splash but so do prints like Steve Madden’s leopard with pink trim. Capped toes in shiny gold or ankle-strapped versions are all th' rage too. Metal-studded styles, ones with bows or polka-dots can be found as well. Pair th' ballet flat with jeans in all styles from tailored t' skinny and dresses too. They make it an easy way t' dress up yer look each day.
Last year we saw th' rise o' th' ankle bootie and while some wished hard fer its demise it isn’t happenin' any time soon. Take heart though – th' styles have matured and come in both flat and high heeled versions. Dressed up or down there are many ways t' work a bootie into yer wardrobe. Some o' th' best I have seen are th' menswear inspired Aberdeen two-tone by Madewell, tough moto Everhart boots by Diba and simple Britt’s by Chinese Laundry.
Loafers & Moccasins
Loafers and moccasins are big, ye scurvey dog! Stylish, comfortable and from casual suede t' pumped up patent leather, these two shoe styles are great fer weekend looks as well as a day at th' office. Always a big fan o' th' sailin' moccasin – I am in love with th' fall colors like pumpkin orange, turquoise or oxblood. Worn at work they take yer plain auld khaki’s up several notches. A great option is a pair like Cole Haan’s ‘Sabrina’ suede style or a metallic encrusted with a bit o' a heel.
Classic heels are back too. Pumps with thin heels, decorated, jeweled or textured, and square and chunky heels were all o'er th' runways, by Davy Jones' locker. Choose a lower chunky heel fer a vintage look or grab some height and go retro glam. Vince Camuto’s ‘Verona’ is a great example. Pointed toes heels are a good choice too. The classic pump can literally be worn with anythin' from pencil thin jeans t' flare leg trousers, a wrap dress, cocktail sheath or anythin' in betwixt. Keep them simple or go big and bold with brocaded fabrics and vibrant tones.
Shoes can really make an outfit and add flare t' yer day. Choose a pair that shows yer inner style and ye will find many ways t' wear them many times o'er.
