Did you know that National Fun at Work Day happens every January? After an entire month of recovering from that post-holiday slump, it’s the perfect time to reconnect and have a good time with co-workers, even though you’re at your workplace!
If you’re aware of this underappreciated holiday, which happens to fall on January 28th in 2019 (and even if you weren’t, you are now!), and looking for some great ideas for celebrating with your peers, here are a few suggestions to help you get started.
Bring on the Snacks!
We all love free food, so one of the best ways to add some fun to your workday is to have everyone bring in a treat for their coworkers to share. Once you send out that company-wide email alerting people that there are snacks in the break room, step back and watch the stampede roll in.

Get creative and come up with a festive theme, then gather decorations, paper plates, balloons, and more. See this as a fresh start in a new year for you and your coworkers and really go the extra mile to set the tone.

Prizes? Did somebody say prizes? Most of us enjoy a little friendly competition, and there are some easy and fun ways to incorporate this into the day. Coordinate a treasure hunt, come up with pop culture or even company-related trivia, or make employees go head-to-head in a costume contest.

Wall of Fame
There are few things more fun than having an entire wall dedicated to the awesomeness of the people you work with. Gather pictures from the past year, have them printed, and make a lighthearted and meaningful collage. Use this as a chance to share highlights of the journey you’ve all been on together this last year.
Also, if anyone has had any personal or professional triumphs, find a way to include these on the wall. Whether it was a well-earned promotion or the welcoming of a new baby, this is a thoughtful way of making people feel recognized and valued.
