When it comes to hair, make-up and skincare there hasn’t been a whole lot we can rely on, until today. The Skinny on Skincare

SkinBetter: (Free) Developed with Allure magazine, this sweet little apps uses photos of you to assess your biggest skincare needs. From dark spots to fine lines and wrinkles and everything in between you get recommendations on what products are best formulated for your skin type and problems.  Available for iPhone and Android.

Amazing Face: ($3.99) This hot little app allows you to enter a world of beauty secrets, tips and tricks for solving your biggest skincare woes and needs. Got a cold sore and need it gone in a flash?  Amazing Face will provide quick answers and a few how-to tips. Create a shopping list, watch a tutorial and learn about the best products for your problems in this gem of an app.  Available for iPhone only.

L’Oreal Paris Makeup Genius (Free) is getting all the buzz as of late.  It’s worthy of it too. Users can try more than 300 L’Oreal Paris products and looks right on their phone. Using facial mapping you can apply the products or an ultra-bright lipstick or dramatic smoky eye and see how you look. The app even allows you to turn your head or change expression.  It’s realistic and fun in just a few finger taps.  Available for iPhone only.

Virtual Makeover by Modiface (Free) allows users to explore virtual looks with ease. See what your teeth look like when whitened, touch up photos before posting them or test out a darker lipstick before buying.  It’s all here. The best bet is the more than 30 hair colors the app has stored. No laying the color over you in some funky way either. Virtual Makeover changes the color of your hair in the photo you upload to show a realistic hue on you. Available for iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone.

Pretty in my Pocket (PRIMP) (Free) solves the annoying problem of standing in the beauty aisle wondering which type of eye shadow or eye liner to buy. Just scan the item and a Pinterest-style set of boards is displayed allowing the user to read reviews, watch tutorials, see new looks and win some free products. How fun is that?  Available for iPhone and Android.
