I Love the Classic Universal Monsters, and their all here in one great set! This is where it all started. If youre a fan of horror then this is a must for your video library. The original screen Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, the Phantom of the Opera, and the Mummy are all presented in this set.

These video films star the great screen actors in the original roles. Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney, Jr. , Claude Rains, Elsa Lanchester, Peter Cushing, Basil Rathbone and so many more, have created and star in these timeless roles.

Revolutionary makeup, special effects, and cinematography were created for these films and stand on their own today. This compilation of dvds contains all the historic films of the true horror genre.

This is a nice set for the price. I paid $50 for a brand new Buy It Now with free shipping, but I have seen others pay less. Pretty good price for 30 separate movie titles, and there is also a 1931 Spanish version of Dracula with different stars.

From the few movies that I have viewed so far the prints are nice and crisp and there are lots of special features. It looks like Universal just took some of their previous collected multiple DVD sets of their film series and put them all in one box.

That’s why you will find not one but three ”House of Dracula”, ”House of Frankenstein” and ”Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein”, and two ”Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman” in this set of seven DVD cases.

Really, one of each would have been just fine. ”The Creature From the Black Lagoon” is the 2D version and not the 3D, but it is a good print and the other two ”Creature” movies in the set are also in good shape.

If you grew up watching these great old horror films on TV you will appreciate having all of them in this one set.

I grew up with all these movies as a child. These were my first experiences with film. I am now nearing 60, and I am a film buff. When I first saw that these were collected into a set, I became very excited.

I came across them recently, and had the money to buy them. I have very special memories of staying up very late with my mother and watching, “Dracula,” and “The Mummy. ” My very, very favorite was the Herbert Lom version of “Phantom Of The Opera,” although I loved the very classy Claude Raines.

I haven’t watched all of these yet, but I am gonna tell you right now that this set is worth every penny! They have even included the Abbot and Costello versions. Thank you very much. I know I can always find what I am looking for on Ebay.

Great performances by Ben Stiller, Robin Williams & Owen Wilson. What a hoot! Plus Dick Vandyke, Mickey Rooney & other surprise guests! All three movies are very entertaining. Some silly slapstick & kid-oriented gags but also sly humor for adults, and just plain old fun.

This sequel took a beating from reviews and critics of the DC heroine. Gal Gadot reprises her role as Wonder Woman in 1984 and comes into contact with a foe that possesses a stone to grant any wish. The script itself really was not that good, but Gal did a good job as WW.

The Cheetah really didn’t bother me, but the flying at the end where WW is sleeking through the sky with no visible means to propel herself was just too much. I guess the invisible plane idea went a bit too far.

lol In fact, while we are talking planes, how is it that somehow you can get into a plane in a museum and just fire it up and it will fly you to anywhere you want? Museum planes are not fly ready, I don’t care how good it looks on the outside.

WW finds out that she can “wish” Steve Trevor back to life, but in another man’s body. She doesn’t want to let him go, knowing his body is not there, but in mind only. lol Forget the actual man that is taken over, right Diana? lol All is set right in the end with WW and the World eventually, but Steve cannot stay in the reality of 1984.

WW finds comfort in the clouds at the end and then low and behold, we get a cameo from the original WW herself, Lynda Carter post credit scene. Action scenes were decent, but script was lackluster.

Great movie from the 80’s era and how Diana has changed with the times as well. It’s not a sequel so don’t expect it to be one! Different time and story line which could’ve been improved in a few areas.

I love the lasso work she mostly does and learns how to fly ( technically, she floats on the air currents in the comics) and we get to see (or not) the invisible jet! I think the Cheetah character who I love as an adversary for Diana needed more scenes, but treated OK in this.

I believe Patty Jenkins did well, but could’ve done better without Geoff Jones help in the story writing. It’s a great movie to watch and enjoy and it has some great humor with it. Gal Gadot is the perfect Wonder Woman for our time.

Watch it for a great cameo, too.

Upon initial release, WW84 was torn apart by critics and audiences alike. Unfortunately that seemed to leave others out in the wind on whether or not they wanted to see it. I was skeptical going in but overall, I actually had a really fun time watching it.

I decided not to pick it bone by bone down to the smallest plot hole and it was hard not to at times, but after it was all over, I concluded maybe people were taking this way more seriously than need be.

The 80’s stylistic approach not only in filming, but the tone in general really helped me get over all the other negatives. The story is basically uncanned out of a plethora of different ideas, as if the screenplay had multiple writers, but everything else is terrific.

The bright, wonderful cinematography looks absolutely fantastic in 4K. The production design and especially the costumes really stood out as well. Gal Gadot is once again charming as Diana and though it was a misstep on why and how he was handled story wise, Chris Pine was a welcome return as his and Gadot’s chemistry are tops.

Overall, I liked it. You may too if you throw it on, ignore the feedback, and let your brain go for 2 1/2 hours.

I’m just glad I finally recieved the Blu Ray set after a month of waiting. It had to be back ordered since Bestbuy ran out of this particular set. My only problem with my purchase is not the wait. But it’s the quality of the item.

The box had a huge cut that outlined the mid section of the box. I wouldn’t pay for $50 with this quality. But since I already waited a month to receive my order I guess I’ll just settle with it.

Great movie! Of course, my son likes digital copies and dvd copies of his favorite movies! I thought he would stop buying dvds, but no…he still likes to buy them. So if you like good movies and still have a DVD player on hand, this is a good one!.

What an outstanding collection of Batman’s best DC animated films. A must own for fans of the Bat. My only gripe is there are is no digital included.

Sometimes I just need to put my brain in neutral, and watch something a bit different, that will bring a smile to my face. “Matilda”, is one of those films. We’ve seen Mara Wilson in several films where she plays an amazing, heart warming young child.

This was no exception. The film itself, has an cute storyline, that will make you chuckle several times. Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman are excellent as Matilda’s parents, and Pam Ferris is a great “bad guy”.

Roald Dahl’s stories are always quirky, but his main characters always have a core of strength that even they may not realize. In the case of Matilda, wonderfully played by Mara Wilson, knowing herself makes it possible for her to stand up to all the idiotic adults she runs across.

When she finds a teacher who has fought the same battles, kindred spirits are born. Children will laugh at the exaggerated evil characters while cheering for Matilda and her friend. Adults will find plenty of fodder for conversation with their kids and just may remember their own childhoods as well.

It arrived very quickly! While there were a few scratches, it wasnt enough to mess up the video quality or anything. The movie runs nicely, just like new! Im so glad I purchased this, it was one of my favorite movies as a child so being able to watch it again was exhilarating!.

Studio Ghibli’s deluxe Kiki’s Delivery Service DVD set is a treasure trove of magical proportions. This deeply amusing, Miyazaki classic captures your soul with its bewitching aerial perspective of Kiki’s neighborhood.

Kiki’s Delivery Service was released in 1989 in Japan and 1990 in the U. S. A. It was bestowed a variety of awards, including Most Popular Feature at the 1990 Japanese Academy Awards. Kiki’s Delivery Service tells the story of a young girl, Kiki, who was born into a family of witches.

At the age of 13, all witches must fly away from the nest for a certain extended period of time. This tradition is aimed to strengthen the witch’s powers and make them more independent. On Kiki’s journey, she ends up in a magnificent town in which no other witches live.

At first, she has a hard time coping with the vastness of the town, but learns to be grateful when a bakery owner offers her attic for rent. Kiki makes a deal with the owner that if she delivers their goods via broomstick and does random chores around the shop she can work out of their attic rent free, with a bonus free breakfast.

Thus, Kiki’s delivery service is formed. The DVD set includes two discs, a Blu-Ray and a standard DVD. It also includes a multitude of captivating bonus features, such as Feature Length Storyboards; Behind the Microphone; Creating Kiki’s Delivery Service; Kiki and Jiji; Flying With Kiki; Producer’s Perspective: Collaborating with Miyazaki; The Locations of Kiki’s Delivery Service; Ursula’s Painting; Original Theatrical Trailers; and even an exclusive booklet with statements from the filmmakers.

One of the best bonus features is Creating Kiki’s Delivery Service, where we learn lots of wonderful inside information about the making of this film. Miyazaki tells how he wasn’t originally the director for the film because all the creatives, including the director and screenwriter, had already been selected.

Miyazaki expresses that he enjoyed making the time period vague in contrast with the artwork of the film. Miyazaki discloses that Kiki’s Delivery Service was influenced by many cities including Stockholm, Ireland, San Francisco, Paris and a town in Italy.

He later explains that Kiki’s town was modeled after a charming, old town called Visby, in Sweden. This enchanting Kiki’s Delivery Service DVD archive is the most incredible thing since sliced bread.

Many of you may be wondering the same thing I was when these releases hit stores. Are these Blu-rays an upgrade over the Disney releases? They are, in my opinion. However, are they worth purchasing again? Probably not.

But, for hardcore fans, maybe. Here’s why. First, picture quality. GKIDS has completed new 4K scans for these Blu-rays. In my opinion, it shows. The image is a bit cleaner. The details and colors do differ in some respects from the Disney releases.

In comparing some scenes from Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, and Princess Mononoke, I prefer the GKIDS releases. Is it a huge difference? No. But it is there. The reds are more intense and look red, not orange.

And in Nausicaaa, the colors differ in scenes from the Disney Blu-rays. Actual color grading differences. Plus, the GIDS releases have more shadow details. The packaging and presentation on these releases tops Disney’s with ease.

The slipcovers are beautiful, with many of the releases using the same artwork as previous releases, with some exceptions, like Princess Mononoke. I also prefer the Nausicaa art here over Disney’s. Each release is in a quality keepcase (not eco case) with art inside the back cover, so that when you open the case, you see a beautiful image from the film.

The discs have art on them as well. I prefer the design on the GKIDS discs over Disney’s, although, the Disney DVDs sometimes had very nice art as well. Lastly, the GKIDS releases also come with a small booklet that has some art and words from the creators behind the films.

The menus on the GKIDS releases fall short of the Disney releases. They are not animated. There is no music. But, they are clean and simple. It would have been nice to have at least had music playing in the background like the Disney releases.

Some releases include new extras. Many, if not all, extras from the Disney releases are ported over, but some may not be HD, as is the case on Nausicaa. As you can see from the descriptions, the Disney dubs are ported over to these releases as well.

Plus, you get Japanese audio tracks, although, I have not confirmed if these are the original Japanese audio tracks, as I know that was a problem on some previous releases. Overall, I prefer the GKIDS Blu-rays, but if you have the Disney releases, you probably should save your money.

However, if you’re like me and you love the films and want the best presentation possible (video and packaging) and you find them on good sale, like they were on release at Best Buy, then it may be worth it to you.

No large spoilers. Being a fan of anime, and having found many cute black cat things associated with the show, I decided to buy the movie. It being a Ghibli, I assumed it would be an enjoyable show. I wasn’t disappointed.

Was it outstanding? No. It’s a simple little tale of a young girl (13) going out to be on her own as all witches must, for 1 year when they are 13. She finds a new city to become the resident witch, but has no idea what her skill is.

Instead of being a potion maker or fortune teller, her skill is more of helping people. She has a period of self-doubt and begins to lose her powers, but an emergency proves to her that the path she is on seems to be the right one.

It has some lovely minor humor, is girl oriented, and just a nice little film, probably quite perfect for young girls to watch with some small lessons about even those who have found their path go through times of doubt.

As an adult, you might find it a trifle slow, but still cute. Phil Hartman voices the cat Jiji and Kirsten Dunst is Kiki.

Wow! I never knew there were this many B-horror/mystery that I had never seen before. Why were they showing all that late night garbage on tv when I was a kid when things like this were out there? Or were they not available then? The silent Dr.

Jekyl and Mr. Hyde with John Barrymore is the best version I have ever seen. There are a couple of pre-code movies in this pack that have some quick glimpses of nudity, “Metropolis” and “Maniac”. There is one comedy/mystery with the Ritz brothers.

Several of Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff’s lesser films that are still very enjoyable. Two Vincent Price movies that are both very good. A couple with Lionel Atwood, some Fay Wray and some J. Carrol Naish.

I prefer the pre-50’s films but that just may be me. Then there are some George Zucco films and Turhan Bey. Of course there is Lon Chaney in “Phantom of the Opera” and Lon Chaney Jr. in some of his lesser films.

It has one Japanese movie similar to Godzilla but not as good. The silent “Hunchback of Notre Dame” is very good. Most of these films I found very enjoyable. I think you probably have the idea by now.

This is a mad scientist, vampire, monster, ghost, reporter/detective mystery type set and if it is your sort of thing, buy it, you’re sure to like some of it.

Box came a little worn, but Overall, for the full collection included, it’s very worth the purchase. Awesome for any fan of older monster movies, with some you might know well, and others never even heard of.

A lot for the money, many cheesy, low budget flicks, but worth it to me for the Chaney Hunchback and Phantom alone.

My husband and I enjoyed the James Bond-like characters, story line and music, but found the language and jokes to be pretty immature and eventually tiresome. Three characters were written to have foul mouths: the heroine’s boss, a fellow agent and the lady-villain.

They were amusing because in a Bond film, their inappropriate language would never have been allowed. But then the soft-spoken, likeable heroine came out of her shell and turned into a somewhat unpleasant she-devil who swore like a sailor and had very long-winded insults for everyone who looked at her cross-eyed.

We were supposed to be happy for her finding herself, but it became tiresome and embarrassing to listen to her rants. The joke was that she’d been repressed by an overbearing mother which caused her to be an introverted under-achiever.

Unfortunately, this character turned into someone deserving of even more punishment. Who’s your favorite Simpsons character? Homer or Flanders? Mine is Flanders. I’d rather be more like him and live next door to him than Homer.

Our heroine went from a sweet, kind-hearted Flanders to Homer Simpson, combined with Mo Szyslak, the mean-spirited bartender, with a gun and a license to kill. The movie is worth a watch for good action and some very fun characters and dialogue, but if you’re over the junior high, potty mouth phase, you’ll grow weary of it here.

It’s been so long since I’ve successfully enjoyed a comedy. There’s been a few I liked, but most of them just aren’t funny. This film isn’t what most would call “sophisticated”, but it was well made.

The story that holds it all together is sturdy enough to hold the film together and not get in the way of the silliness. Perhaps if this is were the first spy movie ever made, some people would have had the same reaction to it that the Guardians of Peace had to THE INTERVIEW (2014).

But since this is basically a by-the-books spy movie, it’s nothing new to most people, except it’s thoroughly funny. It’s AUSTIN POWERS for the post 9/11 crowd. The excerpt on the cover that states “Funniest movie of 2015” may be spot on.

The only bad thing about that is when you reach the top, there’s nowhere to go but down. hopefully 2016 will rise to the challenge. Also: this film does have its “vulgar” moments, but they’re not included b/c “vulgar = funny”.

Obviously if you’re a prude, much of the film can be summed up by reading the explanation of the R rating, since any prude will prolly be too shocked by the various R rated sights&sounds to enjoy the rest of the film.

However, if inclusions of violence and nudity in a motion picture don’t get your nerves rattled, this can probably be thoroughly enjoyed.

Spy is a movie featuring Melissa McCarthy as CIA analyst Susan Cooper. She has a strong working relationship with Bradley Fine (Jude Law) and a close friendship with fellow CIA colleague Nancy B Artingstall (Miranda Hart).

Susan Cooper ends up volunteering herself to be directly in the field due to her feeling to go after Raya Boyanov (Rose Byrne) after what she sees involving her coworker Bradley Fine. Elaine Crocker (Allison Janney) decides to give Susan Cooper a chance to be in the field with greater CIA responsibilities despite protests from fellow CIA agent Rick Ford (Jason Statham).

Cooper’s new assignments have her directly dealing with both Raya Boyanov and charismatic but dangerous Sergio De Luca (Bobby Canavale). Meanwhile Susan Cooper is assigned various aliases to protect her identity and safeguard her cover and along the way meets an admirer who calls himself Aldo (Peter Serafinowicz).

Celebrity 50 Cent makes an appearance in Spy and the movie lists some of the following locations/settings: Varna Bulgaria, Langley Virginia, Rome Italy, and Budapest Hungary. It Is also listed toward the end of the Spy movie credits that the making and authorized distribution of this film supported over 13,000 jobs and involved hundreds of thousands of work hours.

The first Wonder Woman was a classic. It had a great theme for Wonder Woman to destroy the god of war Aires and stop the German army in World World l. This movie was a little disappointing as a sequel and it had the same Director, Patty Jenkins.

I thought it was going to be Wonder Woman battles the Soviet Union, but instead the villain is someone who makes wishes. And they could have casted someone better than Kristin Wiig as Cheetah. I think they were going for the humor angle.

I gave it 4 stars because I’m a DC fan.

This is an interesting one to review. I didn’t love this movie when I saw it on HBO Max when it came out. Truth be told I didn’t like that much either. Especially not compared to the first movie but the stream from HBO was semi choppy and dropping in and out of 4K so I thought I’d give ole’ girl another shot when she came out on a physical disc.

Movie is still middle of the road at best but the 4K presentation blows the HBO stream out of the water. If you’re a fan of the movie and have only seen it on HBO, then I say this is a great addition to your collection.

If you know the movie isn’t for you, then there’s no reason to pick it up.

My previous Dr No DVD stopped playing…any truth to the life expectancy of DVDs ?… This one was worth replacing.

I know a lot of people prefer a few of the later entries into the Bond films but I like Dr. No the best because of the newness of it. the edginess of it and nothing can top Ursula Andress. she was the first and best Bond cohort.

Sean Connery, whether flirting with a tarantula, a beautiful woman, or a fire breathing dragon can not be beat. The new Bond films may be exciting (and it will interesting to see what Daniel Craig does with the role in a few months) but nothing can top Sean when he says, Bond, James Bond.

just like Bogart when he gave the gin joint speach in Casablanca; those words are forever etched in the mind of millions. I had an old video but finally decided I needed to upgrade and EBAY came to the rescue.

I’ve been watching Bond for years, but this is one that escaped my attention. So when I saw it on here I just had to buy it and honestly, I really enjoyed it. The only sad part about the movie is that it doesn’t have the gadgets like all of the other Bond movies.

But this one is rather entertaining with the Bond wit that we all know and love. As I said in the title of this review, this is a great start to a great series of movies.

It is one of Steven Spielberg’s best films and even though it is old it is still relevant today for our younger generation. I never get tired of watching it. The acting is real, the characters are real the story is real and I love to watch it over and over.

Love E.T.! This movie makes me smile, laugh and cry every time. Love watching it over and over again. E.T. is so cute.

First disc had the original movie. The Beatles really did not have much of a script for the movie. Pretty much were themselves, I think, which was great to see. Second disc has a lot of good interviews with people behind the scenes who helped make the movie.

They shared stories I had never heard before in the making of the movie.

We’ve seen this at midnight movies and loved it, so bought the dvd. Tried to watch this dvd and it’s unwatchable! It required installing Miramax video viewer although all my other dvds play fine in my laptop, then the different playback options were not clickable, when we finally watched the first scene, it stops after every scene and we had to restart the dvd at the beginning of each and every scene.

After 4 scenes it would not work at all, updating the Miramax player did not help. Would not buy again, searched and unfortunately the older copies are reviewed as poor quality copies.

Entertaining and fun come to mind as you watch this wonderful production with the “Fab Four. ” Who would have guessed that an astounding rock group could also be great actors. Simple story to follow surrounded by the groups hits used in the soundtrack.

No band before or since has accomplished what these boys from Liverpool did in such a short time. Light hearted comedy that shows the personal side of the BEATLES. This is a no “Brainer” to a collector of Beatlemania or to anyone who just wants to watch a great film.

This is entertainment at its finest. I’ve collected period films by The Dave Clark Five and Herman’s Hermits and there is no comparison, A Hard Days Night when first seen in 1964 was beyond everyone’s expectations, especially the critics.

My review? Two thumbs up for, A Hard Day’s Night.

EXCELLENT DVDs! My only COMPLAINT is: the DVD casing came damaged. Luckily, the DVDs themselves are OK. But, I feel so bad to put such great DVDs (2 set) in a bad packaging; no other DVD collection of mine has any damaged packaging.

So, I came to this website to see if I may want to replace the item. BUT, alas, no matter how hard I look, I don’t see any link, button, menu, to request for replace (it just shows reorder). This never yet happened with any of my DVD orders with ebay or amazon.

So, this would be my last DVD order from walmart. com.

The Abbott and Costello “monster” movies are classics. They’re from the late 40s through the mid 50s, so they’re in B&W. The generations that grew up in the 40s, 50s, and 60s will likely love the humor.

If you’re looking for Jay and Silent Bob, this is NOT what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for old-fashioned good humor that even little children can watch – it’s well worth it.

Why It Rocks While it’s not 100% faithful to the source material, the film does still stay quite true to the original book. Gene Wilder does a great job portraying Willy Wonka. Great acting with an excellent supporting cast.

Timeless score by both Leslie Bricusse and Walter Scharf. The songs are timeless and catchy. Decent morals. Great characters. The boat ride scene is far scarier than the one in the infamous 2005 remake, complete with the word “hell.

” Peter Ostrum also does a great job as Charlie Bucket. The look for the Oompa-Loompas in this movie has become the iconic look for the Oompa-Loompas. The scene where Violet swells up into a blueberry became a popular joke.

The Tom and Jerry crossover is just as good, if not better. This famous line Willy Wonka said at the end of the film, You get nothing! You lose! Good day sir. Bad Qualities The movie doesn’t follow the book completely, which explains pointer #1.

The tunnel scene is very disturbing for a G-Rated movie, thus some countries rated it PG and similar ratings due to the dark nature of that scene, such as bugs crawling on dead people’s faces and a chicken actually getting it’s head cut-off (for real).

This is most likely due to rating systems being somewhat different back then. The acting from the children isn’t always the best. For example, in the Wonkamobile scene, when Charlie said “Hey Grandpa, what was that we just went through?”, it didn’t sound real, instead like he was asked to say those words.

Grandpa Joe was kind of a bad influence on Charlie as he suggested to try the Fizzy Lifting Drinks even though Willy Wonka told everyone not to drink any of it, he lets Charlie sign a contract without fully reading it, and he suggests giving the Gobstopper to Slugworth after Willy Wonka denied the chocolate prize to Charlie after they drank the Fizzy Lifting Drinks.

Charlie in this movie is very desperate to find the golden ticket and would feel miserable and sad if he didn’t find it, along with the final line in the movie where Willy Wonka states that a guy would live happily ever after when he got everything he wanted, that here isn’t a very good moral for children or adults.

Veruca Salt, one of the golden ticket winners, can be annoying and unlikable. The 2005 Tim Burton remake was very weak and WAY too scary to be a family movie. (Unless you consider it a guilty pleasure or the black sheep of the Willy Wonka franchise that never deserves any hate at all).

This is a great 4K UHD disc and definitely worth the upgrade compared to the standard blu-ray disc that was released in 2009. While the improvements in better color grading and HDR enhancement is noticeable, the biggest noticeable difference is the newly-corrected framing.

While there may be room for improvement, this is still worth the upgrade for any fans of this film. The 4K UHD disc includes the following subtitles: English, English SDH, French, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish While the 4K UHD disc only includes the audio commentary, the rest of the special features are included in the standard blu-ray disc which is identical to the previous release.

The 4K version doesn’t scream higher resolution than the blu-ray. You may notice it in some instances, but you’ll also really notice when the original footage was a little soft. The real upside to this disc is the HDR, making the factory pop with colors and textures that haven’t always been visible.

All special features (except for the commentary) are on the blu-ray disc, so you’ll have to swap them out to watch. Still, a classic in its best quality.

I remember seeing the film many years ago. I,ve always been a fan of Clint Walker since the days of Cheyenne Bodie. I also purchased Yellowstone Kelly, & Fort Dobbs, as well as The Night of the Grizzly.

This is probably one of clint walkers best movies of all time. It’s suspenseful, action packed as well as dealing with reality when the early pioneers had to deal with their lifestock deaths due to mountain lions, bobcats and wolves.

But this time a monstrous Grizzly Bear with a nickname satan. This is a classic great. To me it revolutionized Grizzly another killer bear movie which will take place ten years later in 1976. Jack Elam, Nancy Kulp as well as Ellen Corby, Great supporting actor and actresses.

In this great classical flick.

It is a very good movie – a good story line – no swearing or sex scenes. They don’t make movies of this calibre anymore.

I bought this set as an upgrade to my standard resolution Universal Monsters Legacy Collection DVDs. While it is nice to own these old films on standard DVD, many of the films suffer from grainy pictures and poor sound.

Understandable for such old films, but I’ve wondered why the transfer to disc was generally so poor. This Blu-ray set is a vast improvement, with much crisper picture and vastly improved audio. As others have mentioned, perhaps the only shortcomings with the set are the omission of many of the sequels which were included with the Legacy Collection discs, and the decision to include the Claude Rains version of The Phantom of The Opera, rather than the superior silent version featuring Lon Chaney senior.

Regardless, this is a wonderful and affordable addition to my high def film collection. Buy it when it’s on sale. You’ll be glad you did.

This was a great deal (better than the 4k pack). You get more of the classic movies and they look perfect. The movies look so smooth with no grain on the big screen.

This is a great collection of all the classic original Universal Monsters movies! Starting a new Halloween tradition with the family with this set!

It was a long wait, but I’m satisfied with the wait. I had watched the trailers for the movie and anxious for seeing it. I wasn’t disappointed with it. I did like bringing back Jane Foster and becoming the Mighty Thor.

I wasn’t disappointed with Thor’s development. I wasn’t too thrilled with Gore character but I didn’t follow that character in the comics. Bringing back Sif and Heimdall’s son was interesting. The Guardian’s was a little disappointing but a good segment for their next movie.

They may want to swap off directors for the next film, as it is starting to wear thin on Thor being comedic. Not taking his role as ruler and becoming his next evolution, he needs to become ‘WORTHY’ for a multitude of reasons.

Definitely disappointed in the film. The new writers do not have the same level of sophistication that John Favreux had in his story lines. Movie left me feeling as though it was childish and was not satisfying.

Had no depth to the story and was just overall not very good. It was a disappointment and I will not watch anymore written or directed by the same group.

I absolutely love this movie. I especially like that it’s the first Judd Apatow-directed movie I bought. I have seen his 2 other R-Rated comedies, Knocked Up & Superbad and can’t wait to own them eventually.

I would also like to own Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. I plan on seeing three movies he produced recently, Drillbit Taylor, Forgetting Sarah Marshall & The Pineapple Express. Later on, I’d like to see You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, Step Brothers, Year One, and 6 more in 2009.

This movie really made Steve Carell a major star, which led to his lead roles in hit movies such as Evan Almighty, Little Miss Sunshine, Dan In Real Life, and Get Smart. I love all the actors in this movie, such as: Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Romany Malco, Kat Dennings, Gerry Bednob (Mooj-hilarious), Elizabeth Banks (funny crazy chick!), Leslie Mann (funny character), and Catherine Keener.

I’m also a wrestling fan, so I like the fact that Diamond Dallas Page’s wife, Kimberly Page, is also in the film as one of the speed daters. I’m a huge fan of the Judd Apatow movies and the actors that are usually included in his films: Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and Jonah Hill.

I also like actors that have been and will be in his upcoming/current films: Jason Segal, James Franco, Adam Sandler, Michael Cera, and Judy Greer. This movie is very hilarious and has a great story to it, along with a lot of unclean but funny dialect from the supporting cast.

Andy Stitzer is a stereotypical nerd, who lives alone, collects action figures, enjoys video games and is a virgin at 40. His co-workers offer advice and friendship to try and help him achieve the one thing that’s missing in his life, sex.

All the co-workers have very interesting and hilarious personalities along with things to say about various topics ranging from a repetitive Michael McDonald concert, turbans, and watching Ghandi baked.

My two favorite co-workers in the movie are Jay & Mooj. They have some hilarious dialect with each other, back and forth as well as their own separate quotes and conversations. The movie is very great and a must have for any fan of comedy with a twist of a lesson about intimacy.

Towards the end of the movie, Andy realizes he failed at sex in the past and waited for 40 years to find the right woman, Trish Piedmont, which is something more teenagers, men and women should consider trying themselves, waiting for the right person.

Not rushing into things so quickly. I think that’s a lesson that’s trying to be told by Judd Apatow, possibly.

In my opinion, this unique movie is a hit- especially if you like the acting style of Steve Carrell (sarcastic and stupidly funny) AND can get around the fact that the storyline contains MANY references to and graphic descriptions of sex that are sometimes quite crude.

If you can’t see the humor in this sort of thing- or at least get past it– you definitely will NOT like this movie. Andy (Carrell) is a socially awkward 40 year old who has never “done the deed. ” He makes the horrible mistake of revealing his “secret” to his buddies from work during a poker game and his life is forever changed.

His buddies vow to help him end his virginity and begin giving him a bunch of LOUSY advice about women, which of course he follows. They also have a lot of fun at Andy’s expense, poking fun of his “situation.

” Meanwhile, Andy meets a woman he really likes. They start dating, but he is afraid to tell her he is a virgin and is actually AFRAID to have sex with her. Not knowing he is a virgin, she totally can’t understand his apparent lack of sexual interest.

One thing I really found refreshing about this entire sex-obsessed storyline is that although Andy is ostracized for his virginity throughout the movie, the point that staying a virgin was HIS CHOICE and that he was ultimately saving himself for the right person- even at age 40- is driven home in the end.

(Although I have to say that point almost appears to have been thrown in as an afterthought, as it only comes up at the very END of the movie. ).

When you can watch a movie over and over without getting tired of it, that makes it an instant classic and The 40 Year-Old Virgin falls into that category. Hard to believe that 3 years ago, Steve Carell was a relatively unknown actor best known for supporting roles in Anchorman and Bruce Almighty, but Virgin proved that he could be the lead.

He gives his character a likability while playing off of his obvious deficiency with the fairer sex. From the opening scene, we see why he is what he is, but you become sympathetic with him because of his nobility and honesty.

Judd Apatow directs a great cast and gives them some memorable lines and situations that are pure comedy genius. This is not a movie to watch with your kids, but it’s one that kids should watch nonetheless.

and there is soooooo much happening at one time its too much to process. i lost track of what was going on and they had multiple people talking at the same time you had no idea what’s going on anymore, not to mention theyre supposed to be outside in a beach all the movie right? well when they talk you can CLEARLY hear that its their voices/ lines recorded in the studio where there is no noise, so that took away from the movie.

there is so much wrong with this but the ending of it was actually ok, so to me this movie is so so.

I pretty much love everything thing M. Night Shyamalan writes, directs,. and works on films. Old is no exception to the rule. In this genre, there are few excellent movie to begin with, but I feel like this one really tripped my trigger!.

The plot was extremely slow at some points but the frame and picture were pleasant. Most characters were bland and had poor character development throughout the movie. Trailer made it seem like a horror but I would put it in the suspense category.

Starts out at a nice vacation resort and ends up on a ‘private beach’. Then the real issues come out and the suspense builds. Mostly follows the main couple and their two kids and what happens to them on this special stretch of beach.

Don’t want to give too much away about the storyline but it is suspenseful as you don’t know what is going to happen next or if anyone can escape.
