Along with other exciting news, this past weekend a lot of celebrity moms (and their offspring) took to social media to celebrate Mother’s Day. Here’s what’s been happening!
Spice Girls Get Royal Invite
Even if you’re not a fan, you can’t really argue with the fact that the Spice Girls are one of the most iconic, well-known groups of our time. It’s been a number of years since they actually released any new music but their legacy lives on.
If you’ve been hoping to catch a reunion show, they’ve just announced an upcoming appearance. The catch is that you will have to be among the guests who, like the Spice Girls, have been invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming royal wedding.
Will they perform at the reception or will Posh, Sporty, Baby, Ginger and Scary just be mingling with other guests? We’ll have to wait till next week to find out!
Taraji P. Henson is Engaged!
After years of being on her own, Taraji P. Henson is engaged! Over the weekend, the actress shared on Instagram:
Henson’s fiancé is Super Bowl-winning former NFL star, Kelvin Hayden. In 1994, Henson welcomed her only child, Marcell, with her high school sweetheart who was murdered in 2003. She’s been a single mother all this time and now it looks like she’s going to get the “happily ever after” she deserves.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
Jada Pinkett Smith Shocked by Daughter
It was an emotional episode of Red Table Talks, Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook talk show, when her daughter, Willow, made a shocking revelation. The topic was “Surviving Loss” and Pinkett Smith talked about a friend who recently passed of cancer as well as her heartbreak over losing Tupac, with whom she was particularly close.
When Pinkett Smith, who was joined by her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, asked Willow to share her own painful story, the older women were stunned when she admitted that she went through a depression as a 10-year-old and had even engaged in cutting. Willow explained that, while she confided in one friend, she never told her brothers or her father, actor Will Smith.
After listening to everything, Pinkett Smith said, “That’s good to freakin’ know, Willow, I had no idea. I never saw any signs of that.” Undoubtedly, many moms can relate to feeling blindsided by our children’s pain so it’s great that this family is sharing so transparently.
