June 11, 2019

It’s that time of year. The networks have revealed which shows have been renewed and which have been cancelled. While we’ll talk more about what’s premiering and returning in a few months, take a look at this list. Are any of your favorites on the chopping block?

ABC

If there’s one thing to be said about ABC’s lineup, it’s that they know how to keep shows running! It’s incredible that The Bachelor has been going for 24 seasons and that they’ve managed to make the reboot of American Idol (originally on FOX) work!

Renewed:

  • A Million Little Things – Season 2
  • American Housewife – Season 4
  • American Idol – Season 3

  • The Kids Are Alright
  • Speechless
  • Splitting Up Together
  • Take Two
  • Whiskey Cavalier
  • Yet to Premiere:
  • Grand Hotel
  • Reef Break

Awaiting Decision:

  • None

It’s interesting that the heavyweights on ABC are mostly reality series or sitcoms, while their attempts at more dramatic shows have been less successful. Are you surprised about any of the departures?

NBC

The return of Will & Grace has been triumphant, so far, but unlike ABC, dramas take center stage on NBC. Yes, they’ve got a few reality competition programs in the lineup, but what would this network be without This is Us right now?

Renewed:

  • America’s Got Talent: Champions – Season 2
  • The Blacklist – Season 7
  • Blindspot – Season 5 (Final season)
  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine – Season 7 (Second season on NBC)
  • Chicago Fire – Season 8
  • Chicago Med – Season 5
  • Chicago PD – Season 7
  • Good Girls – Season 3
  • The Good Place – Season 4
  • Law & Order: SVU – Season 21
  • Manifest – Season 2
  • New Amsterdam – Season 2
  • Superstore – Season 5
  • This Is Us – through Season 6
  • The Voice – Season 17
  • Will & Grace- Season 3 (11th season overall)
  • World of Dance – Season 4

Canceled:

  • Abby’s
  • A.P. Bio
  • The Enemy Within
  • I Feel Bad
  • Marlon
  • Midnight, Texas
  • Trial & Error
  • The Village

Awaiting Decision:

  • The InBetween

We’ve got to say that it’s also very impressive that Law & Order: SVU continues to captivate audiences after 21 seasons! Considering the heavy nature of the content, NBC clearly knows how to create compelling storylines that connect with viewers.

CBS

If you love shows about law enforcement, government agencies and solving crimes, there really is no better network than CBS. With three different NCIS series and shoes like FBI and Criminal Minds (entering its final season!), your detective skills will be put to the test!

Renewed:

  • 48 Hours – Season 32
  • 60 Minutes – Season 52
  • Big Brother – Season 21
  • Blue Bloods – Season 10
  • Bull – Season 4
  • Criminal Minds – Season 15 (Final season)

  • NCIS: New Orleans – Season 6
  • The Neighborhood – Season 2
  • Ransom – Season 3
  • SEAL Team – Season 3
  • Survivor – through Season 40
  • S.W.A.T. – Season 3
  • Young Sheldon – through Season 4

Final Season:

  • The Big Bang Theory – Season 12

Canceled:

  • Fam
  • Happy Together
  • Life in Pieces
  • Murphy Brown
  • Salvation
  • Awaiting Decision:
  • The Amazing Race – Season 30
  • Celebrity Big Brother
  • The Code
  • Instinct – Season 2 (Premieres June 30)
  • The Red Line

Of course, fans of The Big Bang Theory will be sad to see the long-running show end after 12 seasons. Hopefully, they will find a way to deliver a satisfying final episode that provides closure for viewers!

The CW

Can we talk about the fact that Supernatural is still going strong after 15 seasons?! It has been renewed for yet another year, but they have announced that it will be their last. The demon-hunting brothers are finally retiring after all this time.

Renewed:

  • The 100 – Season 7
  • All American – Season 2
  • Arrow – Season 8 (Final season)
  • Black Lightning- Season 3
  • Burden of Truth – through Season 3
  • Charmed – Season 2
  • DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – Season 5
  • Dynasty- Season 3
  • The Flash – Season 6
  • In the Dark – Season 2
  • Legacies – Season 2
  • The Outpost – Season 2
  • Riverdale – Season 4

Final Season:

  • iZombie – Season 5

Canceled:

  • None

Awaiting Decision:

  • None

When the network announced that Charmed would be returning, people were definitely skeptical, but it looks like enough viewers are turning in to renew the reboot for another season!

FOX

If the longevity of Supernatural is impressive, we’ve got to be downright blown away by the fact that The Simpsons has been renewed for a 32nd season. Wow! It’s not the only show with staying power on the network, however—Family Guy is coming back for an 18th season while Bob’s Burgers will enter its 10th. Pretty remarkable when you consider that these are all animated series!

Renewed:

  • 9-1-1 – Season 3
  • Bob’s Burgers – Season 10
  • Empire – Season 6 (Final season)
  • Family Guy – Season 18
  • Last Man Standing – Season 8 (Second season on Fox)
  • The Masked Singer – through Season 3
  • The Orville – Season 3
  • The Resident – Season 3
  • The Simpsons – through Season 32

Final Season:

  • Gotham – Season 5

Canceled:

  • The Cool Kids
  • The Gifted
  • Lethal Weapon
  • The Passage
  • Proven Innocent
  • Rel
  • Star

Awaiting Decision:

  • None

It’s not surprising to see that Empire only has one season left and that Lethal Weapon has been cancelled. The casts of both shows faced a considerable amount of drama off-camera.

What are you looking forward to this fall? Are you sad to see something go?
