20 Best Women’S Running Shoes For Plantar Fasciitis (2022 Updated)

This is a brand I have never heard of so I very hesitant to purchase these sneakers. But, am I glad I did! I have rheumatoid arthritis, so I need a good solid sneaker with support. These are probably the best running sneakers I have ever worn! I love that they removable insoles and come with an extra pair.

Also, they have wide widths! I wore them right out of the box and went for a 4 mile run/walk and had no issues afterwards! No pain in my feet or anywhere else. I like them so much I went a bought the other style to try out.

I’ve been wearing these shoes just over two months. I average walking 20 miles a week, and they are super comfortable. HOWEVER the lining at the heel has worn away on both shoes to the point I must wear a Bandaid on my heel to not get blisters and the sole is wearing down quicker than any other pair of shoes I’ve every worn.

Considering the cost of these shoes, I’m very disappointed. If you only wear these for day to day, you’ll probably be happy. For my workout, they sadly aren’t working out.

I’ve had these for a couple of weeks now. I’m so happy with these shoes. Even though they are running shoes, they are also great for walking. I’ve walked paved as well as dirt trails in them without my usual foot pain kicking in after a couple miles.

They also look nice as well. Very glad I purchased these.

I like the looks of these, especially the black sole, but they were way too firm (not even enough cushion to keep as walking shoes). The arch support was also very pronounced (felt like orthotics). I ordered 3 pair of runners and these took 2 weeks to arrive.

I learned to love running in the Paradigm 4. 5. Before I tried Altra my feet would hurt because most shoe toe boxes were too cramped. I put 300+ miles on the 4. 5s and then replaced them with a pair of Paradigm 5s that I also put 300+ on.

Then came the Paradigm 6. Altra introduced some big changes which have led me to stock up on the Paradigm 5s until Altra releases a shoe with their original footshape. The Paradigm used to be an excellent support shoe with a wide toe box, supportive upper, and a fairly stiff sole.

The 6 is narrower, has a more breathable but less supportive upper, and has a much more flexible sole. The Paradigm 6 didn’t last 100 miles before the cushioning gave out in the left shoe while the right shoe developed a squeak.

I noticed an increase in left foot shock value (RunScribe) around 50 miles that slowly got worse until I stopped using them after 80 miles. I ran in my old 300+ mile Paradigm 5s and the asymmetry in shock went away.

I’ve tried to find the Paradigm 4. 5, as that version had the best upper, but unfortunately they are pretty much gone. I’ve purchased a few pairs of Paradigm 5s but not sure what I’ll do when I run through them.

I hope Altra hasn’t given up on the footshape fit that made Altras such amazing running shoes for people with wide forefeet. If you’re reading this Altra, please bring back a support shoe like the Paradigm 5 or earlier versions.

My mom had a stroke on 1/14/22 which affected her entire right side (leg, foot, hand, and slight speech). She began PT, OT & ST on 1/20/22. As her speech, hand movement and walking have begun returning, she has had a difficult time picking up her right foot and continues to drag it as she walks with her walker.

Today I took her to MOUNTAIN RUNNING COMPANY in Boone, NC. After discussing her needs the salesman (he is the owner I believe) pulled out 3 shoes for her to try. The first shoe was the ALTRA PARADIGM 6.

people you would have thought he placed a glass slipper on her foot. She walked across the store with little to no dragging and was done! The salesman was so kind to her and explained that this shoe has a “0 Drop”.

This means that the heel and toe are level, just like if you were walking around barefoot. Although she does not have a wide foot, her therapist suggested: 1) get her something comfortable to her foot, and 2) get a bigger toe box.

then all 3-ladies (each wearing a different brand) showed us their sneakers with a bigger toe box. With all this being said, her ALTRA PARADIGM 6 has a bigger toe box, 0-Drop, and is only 9-oz in weight.

I was so happy to see her improvement just by switching her shoes and very thankful for the young man that took his time with her, was very knowledgeable, and then put her into something that is literally life-changing (I mean that).

Can she run a marathon now. no, but she can pick her foot completely off the ground without dragging it, and that will aid in her quick recovery. SPECIAL NOTE: The salesman said these sneakers run 1-size smaller.

She wears a size 8 in all her shoes, but he put her in a US size 9 and they fit PERFECT!!!!.

I was critical of a few things in my first review that I would like to revisit now that I’m on my second pair. I ran in the Hoka Arahi 6s just to see what the scuttle butt was all about, so I will say this about the Paradigm 6: I now think Altra does a much better job than others with heel slippage.

The upper could be better but its fine, maybe better construction. The Arahi seemed stiffer in a good way, more supportive I guess. The Paradigm 6s breath just fine. The only negative I have for the Paradigm is the Innovarch.

It doesn’t work and at worst is abrasive. I’m switching back because I need my feet to splay, I love the zero drop, and the guiderail is brilliant. The Paradigm 6s relieve pain in my hips, arches, and plantar fascia.

2 things I think need to drastically change Change for Altra in general. I have run in Escalantes/Racers, Lone Peaks, Torins, and Riveras. The cushion. It’s no good. The stuff blows out after 100-150 miles.

The other is the color schemes. They are just awful. Always the same black, gray, blue with probably one good color choice. The trail shoes have an ok color choice, but the road shoes seem to be going for a much older audience.

This is the second time I’ve bought these shoes. I have plantar fasciitis, they are supportive and have good cushioning. I wear these everyday. Only problem is on my first pair the material broke where my big toes are on both shoes.

So the material is too thin I’m guessing? I have bought fabric patches and put this on the inside where my big toes are- hopefully that fixes this issue.

I ordered these shoes after much research and being recommended by a staff member after trying these on in store for my foot type. The shoes came in a matter of days and were exactly as described. I have used them for running, walking and criss training and they have served their purpose in the upmost comfort each time.

I am usually a 7. 5 and have ordered a size 8 shoe which is perfect. I am amazed how lightweight they are with excellent grip and breathable material.

I have bilateral talipes (club feet) and severely over pronate. I’m training for a half marathon, and since finding the Adrenalines, I wouldn’t look anywhere else for my staple rubber. It’s a great support shoe, and I get decent wear out of them before wearing them down.

I’m a covert!.

I have a wider bridge for my feet and small heels so finding sneakers that fit and do not give me heel blisters can be difficult. I ordered a size 10B. They fit great with a sport sock. I use them to do cardio workouts & walk the dog.

Love the piedmont gray/blazing coral color. Will definitely order another pair.

These shoes are so comfortable. It’s the only type I like to wear for work, where I’m on my feet for whole shifts, full time. The grip is really good. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a versatile sneaker.

I wear these Asics daily, have been wearing Asics w/duomax for years. I have tried other brands, but was not satisfied. I was happy to find a pair without a garish color. And the clerk was good to order in my size, since they didn’t have one in stock.

I absolutely LOVE these shoes!! I bought them for the gym and to wear at work, but I wear them ALL THE TIME! This was my first time trying On Cloud and they are so comfortable that I just bought a second pair in all black.

They are stylish, light weight and super comfortable to me. They also had no break in period, however I did have to switch my laces to tie as a heal lock (can find videos on how to do this on YouTube) because I did get a blister the first time I wore them to the gym.

After changing the way my laces were I have not had any more problems. I 10/10 recommend these shoes! I also just bought a pair for my husband. Nordstrom is great with fast shipping too so that’s a plus!!.

I absolutely love this shoe. Purchased in a size 8 as I am a true 8 in every other shoe I own. These seem to run 1/2 a size bigger than an average 8. I bought these for training/ HIIT workouts. After about 3 weeks in these shoes I decided I needed to order a 7.

5 as my foot was sliding back and forth during high intensity sections of workout. I also have a VERY narrow foot which could be factoring into why these felt slightly bigger. I am keeping the 8’s as they are SO COMFY and great for walks with a thicker sock and my new 7.

5’s will be dedicated to gym workouts. Other than the sizing, no blistering and no break in necessary. They are a dream, so happy I found this shoe!.

These looked to be everything they were talked up to be until they arrived. Could hardly get my foot in and I don’t have a wide foot. They were so uncomfortable like walking on wood. The insole doesn’t appear to have any padding whatsoever other than the arch support.

The tongue of the trainer on the underside is badly finished off and rubbed on the top of my foot. So would have been forced to wear socks to make them in any way comfortable, then that would have meant getting a bigger size as they are so neat.

I have at least 6 other pairs of Vionic’s, sandals, slippers and trainers and they are all fantastic. Don’t know what’s gone wrong here but it’s enough to put me off the brand, particularly at this price – they are way off the mark.

There are only 2 brands of footwear I can cope with these days having plantar fasciitis on one foot, they are Vionic and Skechers. The way these have been made is enough to make me walk straight to Skechers from now on.

I always wear a size 10. So I ordered a size 10. When it arrived I had to recheck label several times because the toe box was so short it was bumping my big tow. I almost thought that someone put a 9-1/2 into a 10 box.

But the label said 10. Quality of shoe was good, but someone didn’t check the laces. The tip was missing and the lace could slip out of hole too easy. I would be uneasy recommending it because someone might be expecting a normal length and it may be too short for them also.

The width was medium as posted and I purchased a medium. I would really like Vionic and others to make Narrow widths, but I don’t see any. Anyway the width size isn’t going to correct the depth of the toe box.

Not often do I write one of these but I have to say that in all my 74 yrs have I ever had a pair shoes that I could actually wear all day. My body wants to sway because of my problems. With these shoes they keep me straight on.

I am so in love with these that I am thinking about another pair in another color, if they are available. Mine are the awesome pink looking ones that matched a lot of my tops. I love love love them. I also really love my other Vionics a lot.

OH! I bought these a nine because I wear thin socks or footies with them.

I’ve had my new kicks for a few weeks, but feel it’s too soon to write a review Of a love or hate relationship. At first it felt like the arches weren’t placed on my arch properly. Over time that seems to be adjusting.

The size I did go a 1/2 size up. I’m torn. My foot doesn’t slip but they feel big and clunky. With that said, I’m used to topo shoes which are small and light weight, so am I comparing brands or have a true fitting issue!? Not sure, too soon to tell.

I love the tight heel, the color and over all look. The feel. Well, as I’ve said, too soon to write a fair review, so I have it 3 stars until I’ve had time to really wear and adjust to these new kicks.

If I do end up loving it, please make more appealing dress shoes. What is out there now are truly old lady styles and Kuru needs to get with the times.

I have a bad bunion on only my right foot and I’ve been using custom orthotics inside regular sneakers (currently wearing Nike flyknit). I was hoping these shoes would be as advertised in helping relieve foot pain but unfortunately did not.

I have been wearing them for almost 3 weeks now. I am on my feet for 7-8 hours a day for work and I have never felt the kind of calf muscle strain as I have with these shoes. It is stiff and heavy even after breaking into them.

The only positive I can say is that it looks nice, unlike some of the foot corrector or bunion specific shoes. Sad I feel like I have wasted money and these shoes will probably sit in the shoe box until donated.

These were my second pair of fit I’ll shoes, first of this model. These are very comfortable and I have no complaints about these shoes as far as the model. I think the rebound cores are a little better feeling than the stride cores.

But, these aren’t bad. Overall, fit villa has fixed my foot pain from a bunion from too many years in narrow heels. My feet aren’t hurting at night anymore and I have noticed my arch is coming back. My only “concern” with this brand of shoes is the sizing is unreliable.

My stride cores are so big my feet slide. My rebound cores fit perfect. The cloud weaves are tight. I advise trying them on and exchanging them till they fit you right.

I loved these shoes from the moment I put them on. No breaking in period required. I have 2 pairs of strides. A black and a blue. The blue is bright and, in my opinion prettier than the black. I used to have narrow feet ( I suppose my heel is still narrow, but the development of large and painful bunions and a hammer toe now means I need wide shoes.

I chose the 4xwide. My first pair were a size 6 in order to leave space for my prescription orthotics and I was very pleased with them. Especially once I put the Fitville inner foot bed on top of the orthotic as it held my heel and stopped any slipping inside the shoe.

But I could see my toe didn’t reach the end by a little way. So I tried a 51/2for my second pair and they are even better. I have also bought a size 6 rebound shoe. I noticed that the 51/2 stride was just a tiny bit longer than my size 6 rebound.

So the rebound is a little shorter than the stride. If it helps, my foot length is 25cm.

pros: the trainers are very comfortable and after wearing them for quite some time I quickly realized I have no foot pain which I usually have with my narrow trainers; I’ve followed the advice from the website and bought half-size smaller than usual and they are a good fit; my foot does fit more stable cons: the trainers are quite heavy, much heavier than my usual sneakers which doesn’t make them ideal for some types of training like for cardio exercises; major con is that they don’t have that extra hole to do a heel-lock type of lacing and by being heavier than usual the heel doesn’t feel really locked and moves around a bit while walking all in all I am satisfied, the major reason I got them to feel more comfortable around the toes and they do; if the holes were added on top to provide the heel lock, that would be amazing.

I ordered 8 1/2 W (my normal size in athletic shoes) but it was too long. The 8 W was a better fit lengthwise but the sides pressed against my bunions which was uncomfortable. The roomy depth of the toebox was good for my hammer toe but the back of the shoe was a little too high for my small, short heel.

I liked the design and colors and the supportive bottoms of the Boss Runner but the shoes just didn’t fit my “problem” feet very well. I returned the size 8 1/2 shoes and received a refund after a long wait.

Got my shoes yesterday, I have so much foot problems, since I broke my ankle. It’s the best shoe I have, and I have plenty of shoes. They are very comfortable. I can actually walk without my cane. I’m sure I will be buying more in the near future.

I can’t believe how light they are. I bought size 81/2, only because my left ankle swells, but shoe little big on right foot. But that’s not a problem. I love them and I would recommend them for people with feet problems.

I’ve been wearing another brand for years but recently they have changed sizing and materials so the fit and quality isn’t what it used to be. I would say that Apex is a quality made shoe. It has a wide toe box.

It doesn’t have the cushioning that I am used to, but so far my feet aren’t screaming for different shoes at the end of the day. I also have hard orthotics and am an over pronator. My orthotics fit just fine in a wide shoe and my knees are happy with the way my feet are positioned.

These shoes run big. I normally wear a 10 wide to accommodate my orthotics but based on other comments, I ordered a 9. 5 and I have plenty of toe room. Overall I am satisfied with this shoe. If the shoe had a little more cushioning and more colors available, I would have given 5 stars.

My foot surgeon recommended Paradigm for transitioning out of the postop shoe. They do feel nice, but I am only now walking around, and will never be running! Maybe a trot. Anyway, review: My feet are just under 25 cm, are ordinary width with narrow heels, usually an 8 fits ok.

The heels tend to slip with lace up shoes, so I need to use the extra hole at the top, bring the ends thru the loop and then tie. My left foot is still swollen, but on the right these slip off my heel a lot, and the laces are too short to use the hole that is there for that purpose – right? Maybe runners have different lacing techniques, IDK.

I think the shoes should come with two pairs of laces. I wear an 8 in another brand my dr also recommends, and the Altra rep suggested that meant an 8 should also work for me in the Paradigm. For these Paradigm 6 I needed a 9.

5. That was a surprise, so yeah, size up. Standing, my toe nail edge hits at the inside band of the curved stripe, if that is useful info. The length seems ok, but only with thin socks. I’m going to say I would recommend these, but that will come with my friend and I having a chat.

I waited a while to write this review because I wanted to be sure, but I think I’ve found my Unicorn Shoe! I have a hard to fit foot – narrow heel, comparatively wide forefoot, and low/flat arches. This shoe fits perfectly and feels amazing! The pictures make the Paradigm look like a heavy, max cushion shoe, but it is definitely not.

For comparison sake, it is more shoe than the Provision, but feels lighter and less stiff than the Brooks Adrenaline. I HATED the Provision – too wide in the heel, rubbed my little toe, and there was a pressure point in the instep that killed me.

I almost didn’t try the Paradigm but I am so glad I did! I ran a 10K trail race this weekend (I know, they’re not trail shoes) and had no foot or toe pain that I was getting in my Adrenalines. I’m just waiting for these to go on sale so I can stock pile them.

Please, never change them! Note: I have a narrow foot and this fits perfectly, so I could see someone with a normal to wide foot feeling like they are too narrow.

OMG! I have never had a better online shoe purchase experience. I’ve tried several times to purchase shoes online and it’s been a huge drag. With these shoes, they were a fit right out of the box. I really loved how they didn’t dig into my ankle, as they were low cut enough.

Also where the tongue meets the top of my foot, it was not restrictive nor uncomfortable in the least. I sized up. 5. Normally I wear between an eight and 8 1/2 and I purchased an 8 1/2. The shoes are incredibly comfortable.

I do not have plantar fasciitis, but I often feel sore at the end of my shifts. I stand on my feet a lot as a chef. My lower back usually hurts by hour number five. Not with these-I am not tired and my back doesn’t hurt.

They give plenty of support and they actually look attractive! I bought the white shoes with the blue trim. I super highly recommend them for those people who stand on their feet for long periods of time.

I use these shoes for walking. Not on a flat surface, but on a county road that goes up and down. Also for a every day shoe. I ordered a 1/2 size down as instructed and wish I had kept the whole size instead.

I find that the end of my toe sometimes hits the end of my shoe when going down hill. The foot box is really spacy so my feet slide around a bit. But overall, I like the style and tread, doesn’t gather a lot of gravel in the tread.

The support is great.

I do have a pronation developed within a year. No shoes work. No sandals work. So I decided to give a try to my shoes I purchase at Hamnacher Schlemmer. Yesterday I went ( for the first time in a year) to the Gym and I walked 2 miles and.

NO PAIN ! All the contrary ! i walked, my back or my hip did not hurt and my pronation was directed to the right position ! I love my shoes ! Thanks !.

I purchased Addiction 13’s and within weeks of casual and careful use the collar ripped. I could not think why this happened as I hadn’t done anything harsh with shoes. Having read other reviews I see that the problem is inherent in the product and has been carried forward in the Addiction 14’s.

I was contemplating purchase of Addiction 15’s but now reserve my judgement until others have reported on their experience with the new product. I love the fit of the Addiction model as I have wide feet.

The soles on the shoes too is commendable – very robust and grippy. Given the significant retail price and the fact that these shoes are made in China, I think Mr Brooks needs to up his game.

I put these on the day after they arrived, and wore them in the house. After only a few days, my ankle pain, which had been really bothering me, just went away. I’m sure it was because of the extra stabilization for my pronation.

They feel good with my orthotics. I’m ordering a second pair – one to wear inside, one to wear outside on my walks. (I don’t run anymore, but i love the feel and support and weight of running shoes. ).

I too love these shoes. When I wear them I don’t have plantars fasciitis which keeps me wedded too them. However, they tore exactly where everyone says they tore and it began on day 3. DAY 3! Now, they still work and feel ok, but they look awful.

The Brooks Ariel 20’s are top notch in comfort, stability ands style. As a former runner, over the years I have worn many generations of Brooks Ariel shoes. Now that I have bunions, I need an EE width for comfort in the forefoot area.

I have used Brooks Ariel and its previous version for over 25 years. Until the most recent versions I have been totally in awe of these runners and have never purchased any other version or brand. However, the most recent versions do not have the strength and support around the front and sides of the of the shoe.

This has resulted in holes appearing around the small toe area in the version before the 2020 and worst still in the 2020 version holes appearing in the big toe area. Since a bad fall using the 2020 version which I believe was partly caused by the lack of strength around the toe area I have actually not had the confidence to run since.

Such an amazing runner for those needing good foot support for so many years but now it has been compromised by lack of that support. I would love to be able to purchase versions of the 2014 2016 womens size 40 (B) again if these are available please contact me.

I have been searching the internet but cannot find the size I need.

I have used the Brooks Beast since the 14s and they have been the perfect shoe that fully corrected my overpronation. no other running shoe came close no matter how many i tested in the shop while being videoed on a treadmill.

The bigest benifit to me was the lack of arch in the 18s and before as any small amount of arch makes me get huge blisters through the arch as i have very sweaty feet and any arch causes rubbing, pain and huge blisters.

The change to the Beast 20s has forced an arch and now im getting blisters again. Im sorry Brooks but you have no shoe options for me anymore, PLEASE revert this shoe back to NO arch in the 22 version.

What can I say?! I absolutely love these sneakers! I bought these shoes for the purpose of jogging/exercise. Normally, when I buy a new pair of sneakers I swap out the insoles for name brand ones. However, when I put these sneakers on for sizing (I bought them online) I was immediately surprised at how well they fit.

My heels and ankles felt supported and secure , my heels did not slip out of the shoe. In addition, I have high arches and these sneakers were able to take care of that too! The extra toe room is also a game changer.

my toes have room to wriggle and breathe. The extra cushioning on the soles feels like I am running on a rubber track instead of hard pavement. The soles are also super grippy and stick to the road like glue, especially when you are running down hill! I recently ran a 5k race and honestly feel wearing these sneakers made a big difference in how well I did (I placed 3rd for my age group!).

I am not a fast runner but I do enjoy it very much and now even more not having to worry about my aching feet all the time. Thank you Altra!.

I am not a runner but wanted a cushioned walking shoe and this On Cloudrunner provides great mid and heel cushioning and support. Very comfortable and no break-in needed. Tried all the other competitors and this has the best look and support of all to me.

Also, since I have wide feet (wish they made more models in wide width) this is one of the few shoes that come in wide widths that actually fit me. Runs true to size and love the variations of the materials used on the black model.

I’ve only started running again this year after a 30-year hiatus and I’ve never put much thought into shoes until recently. I never realized the importance of cushioning in a shoe having such a big factor in how much it makes running feel easy and this shoe did it for me.

Having started off with the On Cloudflyer in the winter and switched to the Cloud X in the spring and summer, I’ve run with the Cloudrunner the past two weeks after I suffered a slight ankle strain wearing the Cloud X.

The Cloudrunner has been great for recovery and very comfortable on my last long run.
