20 Best Value Magic The Gathering Booster Box (2023 Updated)

My review for Collector Store will always be 5 stars. I have made more than a dozen purchases and their shipping and customer service are second to none. The Zendikar Rising Set Booster box I opened was one of the 2 worst booster boxes I have ever opened.

The other being a 2 mythic box of Theros where one was Champion of Stray Souls. In this Zendikar box, I got 3 mythics, and the value of all rares, mythics, list cards, and box topper totaled $38. I got 3 of the same rare 3 times, and 2 of the same rare 4 times with no variants.

Based on my expectations and the cost of this box, it easily wins for worst booster box I’ve ever opened, and I’ve opened a lot of them. I know luck plays a role, but wow, the volatility in this product is apparently high.

The item came a in five to six days. The delivery package left something to be desired ****CAUTION,**** The box came in a flimsy simple plastic package envelope with no padding. The box corners were dented in and worn.

I know this seems small but if you play in tournaments or even with casual play, this could damage the cards and make them not worth the $100 you put out.

Just the over all value of the cards we pulled. Played sealed with some friends but because of the smaller packs we used 7 packs each. Lots of fun. This reflects the box I received. Not all boxes are equal.

I’ve been a huge D&D fan since the early 80’s and have been really impressed with the artwork of this new cross-over set! I’m looking forward to the other crossovers that have been announced for the coming year and plan on getting my booster boxes from MM! My only complaint would be that the rules from the manufacturer be changed about the “buy a box” promo cards- sometimes it’s just not convenient to buy in person and we should not be denied the promo cards because of it!.

Found somewhere that sells sealed unopened packs. I’m super happy with my purchase and I will continue to buy more from collector store 🙂

Nice product mixes the Dungeons & Dragons universe with MTG card game with some fun new twists on the classic game

Bought them on a whim. I really like the art. There are some interesting mechanics that I don’t really have my head wrapped around yet. I recommend doing some research before buying. I should have. Will have to look into the cards a bit more when I have some free time.

They’re just so intriguing.

Bought this box to open some packs and have some fun with friends. Ended up pulling almost everything I wanted. If you have the money to spare and would rather purchase packs than singles, I found this one worth it.

This is well-tuned for drafting, and you can honestly play sealed deck commander(!), Rochester, Winchester, rotisserie draft, etc. with the packs if you only have two to five players. (I’ve had a lot of fun cracking a box and just building sealed-deck 60-card commander with one other person, using the commander draft-construction rules included in the box).

However, just cracking a box looking for value is a long-shot bet, since the $$ value of these cards is *very* swingy, even if the (few) highs are high, so if you can’t get play value out of a box, or don’t plan to hold sealed boxes for investment purposes (which is a relatively safe bet, since the set is well-liked and the product is the first of its particular line), singles are a better buy.

The intense nostalgia from doing the one thing I couldn’t do/afford as a child: opening an entire box of cards. Feels good man. Even got some good rare and mythic cards in here as well! I hate not supporting my local game shop, but you can’t compete with MULTIPLE, HUNDREDS of dollars difference in pricing.

My wife and I enjoyed the box opening. It’s always a great experience but there were a couple things than were unsatisfactory. First thing THERE WAS NO BUY A BOX PROMO IN THE BOX! We were fully expecting one but there was nothing there.

Super disappointing. 2nd we opened a foil jeweled lotus and the top of it has square corners. We found a few others like that too. Where is the quality control WOTC?.

While the set isn’t legal for tournament play like the other UNsets, it is a random change up. Cards have unique features not found in the legal tournament sets such as gaining control of another player, or gaining life your next game with someone.

Some cards also have alternate art, or alternate in game abilities depending on the version you pull. All in all a good time. And a good change up of magic at home with family or friends.

Received my box of boosters and immediately tore into them, looking to complete my set. I really like the odd mixture of cards and the artwork on them is great. I think it’ll be a little while before I complete a full set, but I’ll hack away at saving to buy another box so that I can continue the chase–that or check with other online collectors to see if I can complete my set that way.

Interesting set with quirky functions, but the land are the show stopper! They are beautiful, color saturated masterpieces. Box price is worth it just for the lands in my opinion. EDH legal til 1-15-18!.

Boxes and packs are always a gamble but this is a very stable set as far as value goes, and this is a great price for these boxes.

Great set, I like the dinosaur artwork and it the sets today have more interesting mechanics than back in the early 00’s.

I believe a lot of cards are undervalued and fill holes in a lot of casual decks

This is a great set with high powered cards and a lot of great memories. Of all the masters sets I have tried this is the best one (in my opinion)

This has some truly awesome uncommons and commons which make it a lot of fun for draft. My friends have been enjoying it, the awesome rare and mythic reprints are great too.

Booster came much quicker than expected and was awesome. Had both a Mana Crypt and a Jace, the Mind Sculptor.

I pulled several of the top value cards but with such a so much awaited edition the sales we overwhelming and the value dropped fast of the rare cards. But I have to say just the fun and excitement of opening the packs outweighed the value of the cards.

If you play the game it was a great deal and as always with any TCG booster box you never know what you may get. Not the best MTG booster box but not the worst but no matter what was a blast to open.

Item shipped in time to arrive at release, perfect for my high school club I run. Getting the newest set on day one is a thrill for the kids. Been buying from this store for years and they have always been reliable and positive to work with.

Bought a case, got 2 masterpieces out of it, 2 crazy boxes with lots of mithics and good cards. fully recommended to buy this set it, it pays itself easily.

The Return to Ravnica Block still has some good shock lands to get in them, and the current pricing on these Gatecrash boxes still make them somewhat worthwhile to pick up. There are also some mythic cards in the set that still have some value.

Maybe you could just buy the cards individually for about the same price, but buying a box gets you so many more cards and it’s always fun to open a booster box. My cousin just recently picked up a box from the Collector store and still ended up pulling enough shock lands and other cards to make it a value!.

Great sealed product, For long term appreciation, English boxes grow in value much stronger than foreign language boxes.

This set is priced well with a good chance of pulling some dynamic cards. Definitely a multicolored focus. Shock lands too, so if you get a few, it pays for half the box.

I’d read dozens of reviews about booster sets and comparisons between draft boosters and the like so I had a pretty good idea what to expect with this item, and after opening all 30 packs I was more than satisfied.

Don’t know that I got more or less than average of the “good” cards and duplicates weren’t too numerous so overall I’m very satisfied. I placed all the cards in the set (including art cards, tokens, etc.

), doubling up the duplicates, in the Ultra Pro Eclipse 9-pocket binder and it’s perfect for salivating over my newly-acquired cardboard. Will probably acquire a couple more booster sets after this experience.

Forgotten Realms is a great set with a lot of fun new cards and abilities all based on D&D. I would definitely recommend getting set boosters over draft boosters: while there are less cards per pack, you tend to get far more uncommons and rares in a set booster which is both more entertaining to open and will help you put together a better deck in the long run.

This is a great set for fans of Dungeons & Dragons, with some interesting cards for game play and fun classic D&D alternate images for collectors. This set brought me back to Magic after several years away.

The strixhaven collectors boosters pack have been a very fun product to open with the possibility of getting the Japanese alternate art cards. The mystical archive cards are a great addition to replace commander staples.

Collectors store is the place to get your Tcg products! They ship quickly and are excellent with customer service. I am definitely coming back for more.

Wouldn’t buy again. If you want value then you will more than likely be disappointed. If you want really cool looking Japanese cards that aren’t worth much then you are in the right place. I would suggest buying singles over these packs.

If you can afford it, great for collectors or those wanting to bling out your deck with mystical archive cards. If you only want a few cards, buying singles is the obvious way to go though.

As usual all big hype with HUGE initial prices, but like all the sets as of late, crashing prices. The hype is driving the set to incredible prices that are hardly affordable especially with the ROI of what’s expected.

If card prices stayed stable from beginning to end it would have been a great set. Just Like Double Masters 1 it has become way overpriced and the cards don’t reflect the value.

I order 5 of these boxes and was excited when they arrived. The boxes seem fine at first until I open to find my booster pack inside was open and cards were sticking out and yes they were damage. I would not recommend getting this especially when you pay that much for 1 booster pack and it’s damage or someone tamper with it.

MTG boxed up individual packs in collector boxes, as well as a box containing 4 packs. Despite being different skus and visually different, people continue to buy them assuming they are multiple packs in the single booster boxes.

From time of order to time of arrival, the time seem as if it was folded on itself. What is normally a week or 2 for most became mere days for unplugged gaming to get this to me. The packaging was that of fairies.

Placed delicately and hugged as if a new born baby by great amounts of packaging paper and bubble wrap. Almost hurt me to cut off the wizards seal packaging after all the work their faires did to protect it.

But cut it I did. Every pack was in immaculate condition. They may be unplugged gaming but they are connected in how to ship properly and rapidly. Always put your trust in a backwards name for they do things right.

Will be ordering again when supplies replenish.

JumpStart is easily one of better format for beginning and casual players. Just slap two packs together and create unique and fun combos. There are some strong chase cards in the set as well. Great price for a booster box and shipping was quick!.

Jumpstart is a fun set to start teaching beginners how to play the game. The range of pack themes is adequate to introduce a lot of play styles to a group of novices so that they can understand more mechanics in a short time.

More targeted to beginners than experienced players, but is a fun casual format for even experienced players to jump into.

Cards were damaged, pack appeared fine. In fact appears to be a resealed pack because two cards dont have damage. Im not happy with what I received.

I have bought two Revised Booster Packs which were clearly mapped before hand. I can assure that were not shown like that on the pictures of this product when listed on Ebay. I am noy happy about it and my aim is to avoid others to get te same sad feeling.

These boosters are becoming harder and harder to find . Grab them when you can find them . Either for later investment or crack it open if you feel lucky .

Overall, Core 2021 seems to have more good cards than I’d expect a core set to have. The buy-a-box promo is pretty good, as well, and I thought it was cool that we got some Jumpstart packs as a bonus with our purchase of Core 2021.

Since I’m a collector and since I ordered a case, I really only focus on mythics, as rares are easy to come by. Overall, I got about an average # of mythics in the case. I ended up getting 28, and normally the average would be 27, but I noticed that there are a few packs with double rares/mythics, so I’m not sure what the actual average is.

I ended up getting 3 alternate art mythics and 1 foil mythic (a decent one, the red Terror of whatever). The quality of the mythics was decent, as I end up with 2 Teferis, 2 Grim Tutors, and 1 Ugin. I ended up with a good variety of the next tier of mythics, as well.

Overall, it was a pretty good case. I did pick up my case at the store, so I could get my buy-a-box promos. My one complaint is that covid cases are on the rise and only one of the workers at the store was wearing a mask.

Hopefully St. Charles County will adopt a mask policy soon, too, so this will no longer be an issue.

the staff at collector store is always great. They great me when I arrive, the help me find what I go in for, and they treat me like they appreciate my business. Another great thing about collector store they have great prices on there products.

I usually just buy mtg products, though occasionally I buy some baseball cards. They also have a huge selection of singles cards to choose from and are sorted easily enough to find. I have recommended collector store to several friends already and will continue to do so.

Got all shock lands and valuable cards! Cromantic lantern, cyclonic rift(+foil) and much more! Just hope that this seller sells more booster boxs! (Gatecrash/khans)

I was super excited when this set first game out. Ravnica was an amazing block and the shock lands are great for modern. I hate how many fakes there are of this set, but I guarantee that all cards are official and legit.

Draft Boosters are an excellent way playing magic in a draft/sealed/limited format of Magic while also adding a lot of cool and new range of cards to your collection that can be used for your other decks in other Magic formats, including Commander.

In particular Zendikar Rising offers some very cool game mechanics to play with in a limited format setting including Kicker, Landfall, DMFCs, and the Party Mechanic. A lot of Zendikar Rising cards can be used for Commander which is particularly appealing if you also play Commander as well.

In terms of gameplay for limited format, draft boosters are still the way to go, you can still have so much fun opening draft boosters and the limited gameplay of Zendikar Rising has been very fun to play with.

Constructing decks is very fun with this set because of the dual model cards that can also be used as lands which makes deck creating and assembling very fun in Limited. Plus with the purchase of the Draft Booster Box, you also get a Box Topper non foil Expedition land which has a great border and can be very valuable depending on which one you open! I do highly recommend the product for new, experienced and returning players of Magic!.

– Came as expected. Had the sealed card bonus in it. Had good mix of mythic rates, which I watch for in sealed products and vendors. (i. e. no tampering noticed) – Came ontime and with good price. – Sealed box came damaged, but seal was not broken.

It was not shipped in a harder cardboard box and the edges were broken and it was out of shape. No card damage, but it is midely concerning when the cards could easily be damaged, value decrease by bad shipping.

– Overall happy. I ordered a different MTG product and it came inside a cardboard box so I feel better about the shipping. I’ll continue to watch for damage on cards though.

Collector Store always has good prices and I picked up my order in the store because you can’t get buy-a-box promos if you have your order delivered, but my order was ready even before I was ready to pick it up.

Overall, I think the expedition boxtopper idea is one of the best marketing ideas that Wizards has done for a while. You get quite a bit of extra value with your box. From the 5 boxtoppers I’ve opened, they really seem to be random.

Overall thus far mine have probably been about average. Mine were (in order of value): Cavern of Souls, Verdant Catacombs, Arid Mesa, and 2 Horizon Canopy. Getting the 2 canopies in a case makes me think that the distribution of boxtoppers is very random.

From a collector’s perspective, the boxes have been good. Each one (including the 5th, as I only have a few packs to open from it) has had at least 5 mythics (not including the box topper), and one had 6, so that’s been above average.

I haven’t had much time to look at the values of my mythics, but as a collector, the more, the better. Overall, I think the box toppers make buying a box of Zendikar Rising a really good value.

I’ve drafted modern masters 2017 3 times now, and every time was an adventure. All the players in my group have gotten valuable and powerful cards, and built great decks with strong synergies. The price is high, but on average, you get what you paid back in card value.

While drafting this set is super fun, it also happens to be a great way to get those modern staples, or some sweet bombs for your edh deck.

This box was amazing!! Not only was there a foil Tarmogoyf, but also a Linvana (in the same pack), Griselbrand, Damnation, an Arid Mesa and a bunch of other stuff. My other box was not nearly as good.

Also, the box arrived sooner than anticipated.

I always order my booster boxes from these guys. I love that I get them delivered on the release date, so me and my friends can play Booster Wars or the like. I highly recommend buying from them! I know I will.

Collector Store fulfilled every aspect 100%, this review is about the product, THEROS: BTG. 3 mythics and zero alt/ext art. Worst booster box EVER. The 2nd box I got a 4th mythic in the foil slot. So basically 2 booster BOXES with 3 mythics each, from what I see elsewhere MTG has a SERIOUS quality control issue.

I’ve ordered over 1000$ worth of items from this shop over 4 different purchases. This most recent purchase will be my last. Just talking about the last two purchases I’ve had to email them 12 separate times.

They give me the illusion of choice and just do what they want. For example. When they’re out of stock for something they asked me if I would like it shipped later or would I like to cancel the order or would I like to exchange.

I immediately replied I’d like to exchange. They didn’t. They just didn’t send one. After my order arrived and I said something they told me the refunded it. When I asked why did you bother to ask they offered to give me a free shipping code for my trouble.

I said sure. They just ignored me. Additionally because I ordered several hundred dollars worth of items that included a preorder. They delayed my entire shipment over 2 weeks. When I asked if they could ship the non-preorder part they flat out ignored me until I emailed the 3rd time.

I suppose they were waiting for it to just get to time to send the preorder. It wasn’t until I tried to cancel my order did they agree to ship in parts. They ultimately didn’t fill the shipment correctly and completely forgot about my preorder until I emailed them and reminded them!!.

It’s as good or better than the old There’s block. Still Magic. More gods. More enchantment fun. Collectors tire is always great to deal with.

This is the first time I’ve purchased something from The Collector Store and I was very happy with the experience. They have great prices, fast delivery, and everything was packaged well. Regarding the booster box.

I really like the Kaldheim set overall and think it is fun to draft. For those cracking packs, I don’t think you are likely to get your value back in mythic rare cards with this set at this time and you may have better luck with the set boosters.

Still, I’m happy with the purchase and think these cards add some nice flavor to my collection.

Every pack seems to have one of the neat showcases from this set. The snow land art is also quite nice.

The cards arrived in perfect condition as usual! I also had some amazing pulls, though that was just random of course.
