Some people believe that the phrase “of hits ooh eeh ooh ah aah” is a play on the sound made by a drum machine, which is often used in electronic music. Others believe that the phrase is a reference to the sound of a person dancing or moving their body in a rhythmic way.
Digitally remastered and expanded 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of the classic 1969 album that transformed Isaac Hayes into a true music icon. This edition includes two bonus tracks, expanded liner notes by Jim James (My Morning Jacket) and rare photographs.
Originally released at the end of the ’60s, Hot Buttered Soul set the precedent for how Soul would evolve in the ’70s simultaneously establishing Isaac Hayes as a major music force. This is a ‘MUST’ for all music collectors as well as fans of Soul, R&B, Disco, Stax Records and Isaac Hayes himself!.
Import pressing includes one bonus track over the US edition, ‘Anything That’s Rock ‘N’ Roll’. Originally lumped in with the burgeoning New Wave and Power Pop scenes when his debut album came out in 1977, Petty and his band of merry men soon became darlings of the critics and, in turn, became Classic Rock radio staples.
They’ve outlasted all of their original contemporaries and have creating some of the most memorable and durable Pop/Rock songs of the last 30 years. This single disc collection features 19 track total, covering his output between 1977 and 1993.
Includes the hits, ‘American Girl’, ‘Refugee’, ‘Breakdown’, ‘Into the Great Wide Open’ and many more. Universal.
I’m not a massive Tom Petty fan, appreciating him more from his connection with the Travelling Wilburys, so this CD suited me as it contains most of the songs I like the best, from his repertoire. Perhaps a die hard fan will have these songs from other albums but I would recommend this for someone who wants to get acquainted with a very talented artist.
He has a great voice and some meaningful lyrics and some classy sound from the Heartbreakers and production etc by Jeff Lynne on songs such as Free Falling. He lives on in these full of life songs.
Not only was the price terrific, my wife says the sound quality is definitely noticeable. Can’t believe I have been missing out on these great imports. Extra bonus songs also not found on the American version.
UK collection of hits from the American Pop music icon. Diamond began his career as a songwriter, but quickly made the move to performer in the latter half of the ’60s. Once he signed to UNI records at the end of that decade, he became an international superstar.
This collection features 20 examples of why he is still one of the best-loved artists in the world. Includes a host of ’70s hits like ‘Cracklin’ Rosie’, ‘I Am. I Said’, ‘Song Sung Blue’, ‘Sweet Caroline’, ‘Holly Holy’, ‘Play Me’, ‘Stones’ and many others.
So, why isn’t he in the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall Of Fame yet? Spectrum.
Cant believe I didnt have this. Call me a philistine but I love the stuff he recorded in the studio in preference to the live shows. Its purely a personal choice as the live shows are just as entertaining and of such good quality anyway.
This is a great album and Neil Diamond sounds just as good on the live shows as he does with the stuff he records in the studio. However this is brilliant listening and you must check it out. Best regards, Vic.
Go back to da Days, A little Neal Songs is far out Man. Love it! I found this old-die that not heard in awhile, Ordered it here and had it in know time. Came in the mail, Open that puppy up and slammed it in my 8 Track.
This CD of Cher’s greatest from the 1970s & 1980s is a definite must-have for anyone who admires Sonny Bono’s one-time partner before going solo. Tunes like ‘Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves’, ‘Half-Breed’, ‘Take Me Home’, ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ are just a sample of the gems that can be found on this marvelous compilation that’s worth sharing your CD library with.
The first ever GREATEST HITS compilation of all Huey Lewis And the News biggest hits. 17 Top 10 singles, including 6 #1’s and 21 hits in all. Features tracks such as “The Power of Love,” “The Heart of Rock & Roll,” “Stuck with You” and many more.
This album would be so much better if they got rid of some of the less known songs and replace the single edits with the longer album versions. The guitar solo at the end of I Want A New Drug is legendary, but the single edit cuts most of it out.
Cruisin’ doesn’t even feature the band. It’s just Huey and Gwyneth Paltrow, so why is it even there? It seems they’ve gone for quantity rather than quality. Let’s get as many songs on the CD as possible by trimming all the good ones down.
You’d be much better buying Sports, Fore and Small World and you’d be getting the best of Huey Lewis & The News, plus all the amazing album tracks too.
There are songs on this CD that I had forgotten about. I bought it for Jacobs Ladder but it exceeded my expectations. I keep it in my car so I can listen every time Im going anywhere. I actually bought a 2nd one to put in my CDs for when Im in the backyard pool collection!.
After transferring most of my vinyl collection to CD’s, I realized I never copied any of my Huey Lewis. I had been hearing a couple of his songs in TV commercials and realized I missed hearing his stuff.
So I bought this CD. I love it! Has pretty much every song I wanted, so I’m a happy guy.
This 3 disc compilation of chart-toppers samples every kind of available popular music from the early years of the Sixties, from the male vocal harmonies of the Everly Brothers and Four Seasons through to the instrumentals of the Shadows and B.
Bumble & The Stingers to classic girl groups the Shirelles and the Crystals. Enjoy this true treasure trove of chart-topping pop!.
If listening to the hits of the mid 50s through early 60s takes you to a more gentle innocent world, this set is for you! I won’t start my car without one of these three discs in the CD player. My personal favorite is disc #3 but all of them are really great.
Buddy Holly, Elvis, Fats Domino to name three and a bunch of wonderful records made by one-hit-wonders keep me in great spirits while in Hollywood traffic. If you ever wondered what the 50s were like, just buy this set of discs and listen to the sounds of these golden years.
The music will tell you all about the times they came from. No drugs, no Viet Nam, no terrorism, just summer vacations filled with crusin’ and maybe a forbidden beer or two. Enjoy this collection.
This 3 CD set of 75 songs from the ’50s & ’60s brought back many fond memories. All the songs were hits in their day, and feature hits from the likes of Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Roy Orbison, Dion, Sedaka, Little Anthony & the Imperials, and many more.
I remember hearing these hits on my “new technology” transistor radio, or at that party where I first kissed a girl. The sound quality is great, and it’s a great value for the price. I highly recommend this collection.
If you grew up in the 50’s and 60’s this is the music we were listening to. 75 songs on 3 CD’s and it is very enjoyable to listen to these songs again and again. I also think it is at a great price for a 3 CD set.
My wife liked these CD’s so much I had to buy her a set of her own so she could play them in her car. I told her I would share but she wanted her own so I bought a second set and now she has her very own just the way she wanted it.
This club edition of The Association’s Greatest Hits is a CD release of their best ‘sunshine pop’ songs from the 1960s. With rich harmonies, solid songwriting skills and a flair for romantic ballads, the Association earned their place in pop music history with a string of hit singles from 1966 to 1968.
While this was a wee bit before my time, one of my all-time favorite songs is Never My Love. 1. The Time it is Today 2. Everything That Touches You 3. Like Always 4. Never My Love 5. Requiem for the Masses 6.
Along Comes Mary 7. Enter the Young 8. No Fair at All 9. Time For Livin’ 10. Cherish 12. Windy 13. Six Man Band This CD is from a private, well-kept collection, was only played a few times, and is in mint condition as shown in photos.
Please excuse any dust particles in photos as I can never seem to get my scanner’s glass completely clean no matter how hard I try.
It has all their hits and a few more songs. I had this album years ago on LP format. After several moves it became lost. When I saw it for sale, I jumped on it and I’m glad I did! Great to hear all these wonderful tunes from my youth again.
The Association is one of the forgotten bands of the 60s that really needs to be rediscovered. They may have been overshadowed by the success of the Beach Boys, but their songwriting and rich vocal harmonies are every bit as good.
EVERY song on this recording is excellent; no need to skip to the next song. One listen and you’ll agree with me!.
This Disc was mastered from what sounds like a low quality tape. Some of the songs have low volume and others have decent volume. I didnt expect too much for what I paid, but I think the mastering could have been better.
In fact this disc is a must-have for McLachlan fans whose first encounter with her work was with her extremely popular later releases Fumbling Towards Ecstasy and Surfacing. The opening track “Drawn to the Rhythm ” is a habit-forming gem of a song that soars on her smooth and heady soprano and Ronald Jones’s addictive drums (though the drone of the billatron in the chorus seems incongruous).
The rumbling electric “Into the Fire” grooves with a funky bass line; the lovelorn “Path of Thorns” and “I Will Not Forget You” are straight-ahead and bluesy. Always wise beyond her years McLachlan displays a new awakening with introspective songs such as the Sinead O’Connor-esque “Lost” and “Shelter.
” The hymnlike “Mercy” is the least interesting song–spare in comparison to the others–but it is a wondrous showcase of her multifaceted voice.
This is a Greatest Hits CD, but to me it was not that great. The only good songs on this cd are Here Comes The Rain Again, Sweet Dreams and maybe a couple of others. I was disappointed because I was expecting to like most of the songs on this cd.
I had forgotten how much great music the Eurythmics produced thanks in large part to the very talented Annie Lenox. Apparently she wrote all the songs on this album. This music is timeless and sounds as relevant today as it did in the 80s.
One particular cut “Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves” is the exact same version she did with Aretha Franklin on Franklin’s “Who’s Zoomin’ Who” CD.
Musically, I’m sort of stuck in the British invasion of the 1960s. But I’m not completely deaf, and over the years heard many ear-catching tunes from the Eurythmics, found myself singing along with Annie to the piped in music at the supermarket.
This album gives me the chance to have the songs I already knew and liked at my command, as well as introducing me to others previously unheard, without investing in the band’s complete oevre. Bouncing, energizing, a good listen.
The hits ooh eeh ooh ah aah concluded with a great performance by the band. The crowd was on their feet and cheering for more. The band played an encore and then took their bows. It was a great show and everyone had a great time.
