Bought 2 for my ford f-150, truck still ran bad. had to take it to Ford. Ford said one of the coils was bad and replaced it, runs good now so I need to return one coil. Not happy , new coils should work especially since it was original Motorcraft so it cost me a trip to Ford because I thought something else was wrong.

I never figured a new coil would be bad. One good thing is that the price was decent compared to others.

I bought two for a V8 4.6 L engine. It works as it is supposed to. Thanks so much!

You can pay $900 for brand coils, or $70 for these. I had one fail early but they replaced it and the truck runs better than ever. I think you could have an early failure with any brand of coil so this is a super bargain.

Got this item in 3 days, was impressed until I opened the package and noticed that it wouldn’t fit my car. I own a 2005 4. 6L mustang. Just wished they would say which model and make these 4. 6L coils and plugs would fit in.

I installed these when changing plugs. The red looks nice in the midst of the grey and black. Only a day of running, but seems a little more responsive. Install on drivers side was time consuming due to clearances next to fire wall and under brake booster.

Although on the pricier side, MSD has been around since I have been tinkering on automobiles. I trust the quality and like the looks of the red packs. Hoping to see some fuel mileage gains as I installed new plugs as well.

Note: I installed this on a stock 1999 cobra with ~105k miles, with new spark plugs (Motorcraft OEM on AM), and head cover gaskets replaced. Fitment: They should fit per the product description, but for sure with a stock 1999 cobra.

Quality: Product seems to be of quality materials and I can trust the plastic to not become brittle any time soon. Otherwise, great choice as a stock replacement and woke the car up compared to the stock coils.

Improved pedal response and recovered lost power. I will update as to how long they last. Note: A lot of the bad reviews I see are maybe because of improper installation or wrong application. When installing, I used very little dielectric grease along where the boot meets the plug and where the coil spring contacts the plug.

Be sure not to apply too much dielectric grease where the coil spring directly touches the plug as dielectric grease is an insulator. By very little dielectric grease, I mean about a pencil tip. Then I used my fingers to spread the grease very tightly around the locations to squeeze any excess off.

You honestly just need a very thin film. This will prevent the coil from popping off the plug and prevent insulating the coil from the plug; which will prevent misfires or dead cylinders.

My 1999 five speed GT was fluttering upon acceleration and the gas mileage was terrible. I installed a set of MSD Blaster coils in 45 minutes. I had never considered these an upgrade since my car has every single bolt on and even the Crower stage 2 cams.

It’s just what the car needed. You can feel it accelerating harder through the gears. I would highly recommend it.

I’ve learned the hard way that there are times when it’s best to use “Original Equipment” parts. COP/coil over plugs are a good example. When a COP goes bad on your Ford (and they all do, eventually), spare yourself some grief and replace the bad COP with a genuine Motorcraft COP.

This time, a rodent chewed the lead wires insulation, and they shorted out the COP. I fixed the wires and replaced the COP; now I’m good to go again. Aftermarket COPs mostly burn out much faster than OE, and they often throw codes before they burn out.

Motorcraft COPs don’t last forever; but they do work better and last longer than alternative COPs for use in FoMoCo vehicles.

Cylinder 8 was missing, looked like water intrusion rust on plug. Replaced spark plug no joy, ordered the coil set. Not a fan of mixed electrical parts, being 15 years old now’s the time. Exact match other than color of the head.

Coil replacement it self took 30 minutes, getting to the coils not included. Under 2 hour total time.

I bought these coils initially because the price for the direct factory replacement at the local auto parts store seemed high. The MSD Street Fire came in at a much lower price point. I paired them with a set of Motorcraft plugs.

Once I installed them, the difference was immediately noticeable. Idle and throttle response improved dramatically and fuel economy improved by 30%. I am sure the fact that a plug change was long overdue, and this was certainly a factor in the performance.

However, these coils have contributed to an overall better performance for my truck. I definitely recommend these coils.

My 06 F150 FX4 ran well enough, it had 126k miles on it. But one 700 mile trip from Utah I encountered a flutter that turned into a miss doing about 70mph. The engine light flashed a couple times and lost power and went into limp mode.

I turned off overdrive and slowed down, then the it came back to life. So I know something was going on. Then around 50mph under light acceleration it struggled and missed. I knew I had a bad pack. I still had original packs, so I decided to get new packs.

MSD Street Fires fixed the issues, and I have more power too. Make sure you pick some sparkplug conductor grease. Great buy.

My son has a 1999 Ford Ranger with the 4L V-6 and thought one of these would help with the truck running. Bought first one and installed and truck would not even start. Sounded like the timing was WAY off.

We made sure the plug wires were on correctly but still no good. Sent back and Summit sent another one. Same problem. I called MSD and talked to a service guy (bad attitude) and said we had the plug wires on right and the coil might be defective.

I’m sending it back and getting a refund. Bought a Motorcraft part at local store and so far so good.

I cannot comment as to how this product works by itself, as I upgraded the entire ignition system at one time. In combination with Taylor Thundervolt 8. 2 wires and e3 3. 60 spark plugs as a package however, I have a perfectly smooth idle, snappy throttle response, and a noticeable power increase! Time will tell on the mpg but I’m sure it’s running more efficiently now.

My 3. 8 is ALIVE! I definitely recommend doing this upgrade as a package, so there are no weak links holding back the system.

Bought these for a Grand Marquis we just got. The vehicle got a full servicing including a tune up yesterday. One coil went bad on the day of purchase. My cousin, who is a great Ford mechanic told that one goes bad it does not stop & at 67K it was bound to start.

I put in new plugs, with these coils & the vehicle runs better than new. Just in the one day they have been in, fuel mileage went up by 2, throttle response it better & combine with true duel exhaust & cold air box, This Boulevard Bruiser is ready for action.

I also bought 3 extra for future replacement.

After installing all eight packs two years ago, my Wife returned to the store to have a “check engine” tested at the store. Up to this point, the Ford van did not miss, but shook violently between 62MPH, and 70MPH,I thought I had imbalanced tires, so had the tires checked.

Still had bad vibration at same speed. I changed tires and wheels from my spare van, same vibration still as violent. Then the engine code appeared, almost two years after initial installation. Not getting the code initially, I did not suspect the coil packs, as I had read only glowing reports, in reveiws, of the product.

The store tech told me ” I had number five and number seven packs bad. ” I replaced the coil packs, and my truck did not shake anymore! I therefore surmised that a seventy five percent success rate is not one of the best results I would expect.

I would probabley buy the product again, as I have already done, but my confidence in Accel products is not that great. I might add the difficulty of installation, is not due to the part, but, the design of the motor.

the coil packs plugged right in after removal of a lot of stuff, that was installed from the factory.

You can’t go wrong, try this product now they have an eight pack of coils, you can buy eight for the price of six. I drive ford 4. 6’s and 5. 4’s and these coils work better than dealer and the more expensive coils.

The only problem I have had is that there is a ninety day warranty on these coils, but the good thing about Advance Auto is that the managers aren’t afraid to take care of the customers. Had problems with coil packs after warranty and managers replaced them no questions asked.

I used the other coil packs and always had problems at highway cruising speeds. The old coil packs just wouldn’t put out the Kv to run engine smooth, replaced with Accel coil packs and ran smoother. I can’t tell you I had more horse power and torq.

Because I don’t have a dyno. to check the horse power. All I can say is that the vehicles ran better than they did with the old coil packs. So I would recommend these coil packs, I use them every day.

They arrived On time, very well packeched. Of course perfect fit. This is the 3rd set I buy.

This is for my 2001 6 cylinder Ford F150 for quite some time it has been shuddering between 45 and 55 mph. But as soon as i installed this ignition coil, the problem disapeared imediately. I just thank God it was not the transmisson or anything else that was seriouse or costly.

As of right now, everything is running great! However, this is after having to replace one of the coils because one of the eight was bad and I didn’t test before installing on a 2001 Ford E-350 Van/Boxtruck.

After 300~ miles I started getting a random misfires, I stopped at the next autozone and odb2 and got a P0350 and P0352 error. For your help, the last number of the cylinder that has the issue, so P0352 is cylinder 2 and if the error was P0354 it would be cylinder 4 with the issue.

After confirming by resetting and getting the same error again, I replaced and all is good for now. Being a random error, I’m not positive that I would have caught it, so I will put this one against Duralast quality control.

My truck was running rough even after replacing the spark plugs and the plugs definitely needed changing. The check engine light would not come on to tell me which coil was having an issue. I thought about just replacing the boots but decided replace all the coils.

Truck threw a flashing check engine light on the way home fully loaded with gravel. Got to a stopping point scanned for codes, #7 misfire. Typically I’d swap the coil and plug each to different cylinders, but I was on a time crunch.

I swapped them both to cyl 5, code jumped to 5. Ran to AutoZone and scooped up a new Motorcraft coil and plug, popped them in and no more than misfire. Had the truck diagnosed and fixed in less than 1.

5 hrs because Autozone is 5 mins from my house and open till 9. Thanks!.

The Motorcraft DG-511 Ignition Coil is original part on my 2008 Ford Expedition Eddie Baeur 5. 4L Triton Engine. I had to replace spark plugs #3 and #4 (and coil on plugs) on my right/passenger side bank because the original HVAC heater hose leaked coolant onto the spark plug wells.

I repaired the leak by installing a Dorman 3/4 x 3/4 x 3/4 Tee junction on the damaged HVAC heater hose first. Then I changed the coil on plugs and spark plugs (using original Motorcraft parts). My SUV has approx 120K miles, and after performing the above mentioned, it runs just like new.

No more missing, or hesitating/trembling under load. Mission accomplished and money saved as a non-mechanic DIYer (I’m actually a Neurology PA).

I had a couple factory coils go out at almost 60,000 miles. I put in a set from a well known aftermarket company. A couple of them went out a few weeks apart after 1,700 miles. They all came out and a set of these OEM went back in.

This was a very easy modification to install. Fit right in place of the OEM coils. IF any part was “difficult” if would just be removing the electrical clips attached to the coils, needed a bit more finger muscle or a flathead.

Came fully assembled and required no mods. MAYBE some anti-seize lube depending on your spark plugs but not required. I did pair these with the Ford Performance Spark Plugs. I heard the 2011-2014 had more of the issue with the coils and spark plugs.

I own a 2015. It has 64 ish miles on it, never had any issues with coils of plugs. I did not need to update these BUT I plan on tuning my truck soon so I did this as a preventative measure to keep my truck running smooth post tune.

Also, without a tune, the truck is running just fine. No CEL. No issues.

They are pricey compared to Motorcraft but the rubber boots on the Accel are worth it. The motorcraft boots are cheap and melt or break easy while the Accel boots are a touch smaller but sturdier and attached to the pack.

You will not notice any performance gains they would be negligible anyway. Be sure to use dielectric grease on install and time would depend on removal of the the old packs.

I did it all before getting the coils. Plugs, cleaning the 3 sensors, removed and cleaned out intercooler then drilled a weep hole. Used a tank of 93 octane pure gas. Nothing helped. Replaced all 6 coil packs and WHAMO, I had power to run and pull with the big dogs! Bought the truck used, high mileage with the stutter issues.

Was fine as a daily just lacked power. Replaced the coils 2 months ago (3,000 miles) and haven’t had a single misfire code or even noticed a misfire since. Good price, fast delivery, I’d use them again.

Super pleased with the new coil packs and I received them before the date on my shipping. Very easy install just needed a 6 inch extension and a socket. Took me around 30 minutes to install and I didn’t have to take my strut brace off.

Haven’t driven it but maybe 20 miles but I will know more after I run a tank of gas and see how much it effects my mileage. But as far as performance they are working great. Just turned 63000 miles on a 2009 so it doesn’t get driven that much.

I have 2 F-150’s that are my daily drivers. But I got what I wanted and that’s what is important.

I recently replace my spark plugs and in the process, broke 3 of my coil harness connectors. After replacing the connectors, my Mustang still wasn’t running as smooth as I’d like. So I got the Accel SuperCoils and replaced my OEM coils.

Now it runs smoother than when I bought it with 38,000 miles on it. (98,000 now).

I installed these in an 07 GT500 that has the typical bolt ons like intake and pulleys and tune. I was really surprised the difference they made. Maybe I had a bad coil already or maybe these make more a difference than I thought.

They took away the ‘shudder’ I sometimes got also.

Not much different looking than the stock coils except the color, But I definitely noticed a big difference in idle of the 6. 4. No HP gain. But telling you, with a catch can and coils, engine will love you and run smoother for sure.

Would purchase again!.

Was exactly as describe, 8 super coils no waiting! It took longer to take of the strut tower brace and engine covers off than the actual coil swap w/ new iridium plugs. Maybe hour and a half to two hours total time from start to finish.

My ’06 Lincoln Mark LT (what I call an F-150 in a tuxedo) recently started bucking, jerking and skipping whenever I’d try to accelerate from a mid-speed roll (40-50mph). After a lot of research I was confident the problem was narrowed down to one or more failing ignition coils – especially since they were the factory originals, with 158,000 miles of service.

More research and much comparison shopping led me to these Accel brand coils. Accel has a glimmering, decades-old reputation in the performance parts niche. and they boast a superior manufacture and 15-20% power improvement with these coils.

Unfortunately they were not in stock at my local advance, but I used a 25% off online promo code and ordered a set. They literally arrived the very next day. By watching the UPS delivery status, I began removing the old coils in preparation for their arrival.

As soon as they arrived I started installing them. I gotta say – what a dramatic improvement! The truck has a whole new life to it – more spunk and whoomp than she did brand new I think. Starts up instantly with barely a bump on the starter; idles utterly smooth and quiet; responds to the lightest press on the accelerator – takes the gas and GOES – strong enough to noticeably pull your head back.

(Now the removal and installation is a little tricky on these trucks. You’ll have to disconnect a few EGR tubes and sensor wires; as well as the ECM and its mounting bracket, in order to comfortably get to the rear-most coils — but its doable and not difficult.

Just remember – disconnect battery first before removing anything else. ) In short – these coils outperform my expectation. I would recommend them as upgrade replacements for your OEM coils – worn out or not.

I swapped out all 6 original Motorcraft coil packs at 113K miles along with a plug change 18 months ago. I’ve used Accel products for decades with no issues and had every confidence these coils would be great performers at a cost less that the factory parts.

The first of the 6 Accel coils failed at 13K miles. Fortunately that was one of the front three coils and was easy to replace. Given Accel’s reputation I thought the failure was a fluke. Two weeks ago a second Accel coil failed at 33K miles.

This one was in the rear necessitating removal of the intake manifold to access and replace. I put three new Motorcraft coils in the rear three cylinders along with all new plugs since I had everything apart.

I left 3 Accell coils in the front bank of cylinders to see what would happen. Upon reinstallation a third Accell coil failed and I replaced it with a new Motorcraft unit. Today a fourth Accell coil failed.

I am now replacing the remaining coils with original Motorcraft. DO NOT BUY THESE ACCEL COILS!.

Brand new set of coils for over 60% off retail! The box that the coil packs came in had some wear and tear on it, but the coil packs were still wrapped and in 100%new condition. (The damaged box was shipped in another box, so nothing was exposed during shipping).

I’m using these to fix and upgrade a bad coil on my 08 Lincoln Navigator. Also, these are for any 3v motor, from 05-08. Just make sure the coil boot is black and has the OEM number ‘3L3E’ on it, or else they will not fit.
