A hugger ceiling fan with light is a ceiling fan that has a light attached to it. The light is usually in the center of the fan. The fan blades are shorter than traditional ceiling fans, and the fan hangs close to the ceiling.

Bought this fan for our master bedroom and quite frankly we are very disappointed by how loud the motor hums. A little white noise from the wind/blades is to be expected but the sound coming from the motor is too loud for this price point.
We had two other fans installed at the same time that were $100’s cheaper and are very happy with their performance. I bristle a little bit every time we turn this fan on and hear the motor.
I bought these fans for our bedrooms. These fans cannot be hardwired. If the power goes off and you don’t use the fan within a few days, the connection between the remote and the fan needs to be reset, which if you have several of these fans can be quite complicated.
If you are electrically-handy this probably isn’t a problem for you. If you want to keep things simple, I recommend not buying multiple remote ceiling fans. Not to mention they are expensive and not seemingly better than a much cheaper fan I bought for a different room.
And because it’s been more than 90 days I can’t return them and the manufacturers’ offer to help was to resend me directions on how to reset the remote connection when the power goes out.
This is an excellent fan. We needed a fan that was close to the ceiling and had shorter blades to fit our space and this fit perfectly. My only complaint is the light kit gives off the equivalent of a 20 or 40 watt bulb.

This is a gorges fan, It is so quiet , I like it has nice blades it seems to move the air much better then a 3 bladed fan. The blades can be reversed which is nice when you want it to look like a new fan.
It is built very well all of the components are very sturdy and strong. It comes with all you need to assemble it. I found it very easy to assemble i have done them before but i think most DIY sellers could do it.
The light is nice on it, and the globe really makes the fan stand out The LED bulb was even included that was great because i did not have one when installing the fan. It is easy to put up. It looks like a very expensive nickel plated fan but the price is great I have found no cons with the fan it has worked very well was easy to assemble and i think it will last for many years.
The different speeds makes it nice to control the air movement better and you can turn the light off if you need to and still run the fan.
I love this fan so much! First, it was actually easier to install than I had expected. The instructions were clear so that really helped. The fan color is just as described and very nice looking. It is very quiet and just has a fan noise when on the high setting, which is perfect! The pull cord is used to change the speed, off to low to medium to high.
The other pull cord is used to reverse the direction so when it’s cold it can help blow the heat around. Everything about this fan is just as described and works amazing! I love this very much and would recommend to everyone!.
I was super excited for the Alvina Farmhouse Bronze Ceiling Fan. Recently we had updated our family room in browns and grays. The ceiling fan was super easy to install we had it installed within 45 minutes.
We couldn’t believe how perfect the fan blades matched our hardwood flooring. It was a perfect match. Once installed I was amazed of the nice breeze you feel when sitting on the couch enjoying a movie.
The fan is quiet, no rattling or shaking (like previous fan). It was nice to enjoy it with no issues, and matching perfectly and a wonderful breeze.
Bought a pair of these as part of a complete kitchen remodel in 2014 (8 years ago). They run constantly from March through October, and on other kitchen-heavy days like Christmas and Thanksgiving. Absolutely silent.
Smooth as glass. All white, so they need routine cleaning. My wife made fun at first, saying it looked like a twin rotor helicopter crashed into the house, but she loves them now. Perfect for stirring the air in a long, narrow kitchen.
I cannot say enough good about how these look and how they perform.
This is a fabulous fan for small spaces. I do recommend a licensed electrician to install due to the light and speed control installation. Looks great and doesn’t overpower the room. This fan replaced one that had long blades and Victorian glass globes in a 10 x 10 room! This fan is powerful and quiet.
Cooled the room in just a few minutes, and this room is on the sunny side of the house. Recommend this style for modern, contemporary, bauhaus style homes. Very happy with this purchase. Oh, and only weighs 12 lbs.
Love the look of this ceiling fan and perfect for a small bedroom. Problem is that we only have two wires to accommodate a fan and this fan requires three. I wish this issue was identified for purchasers.
Ellington Fans Wyman 42″ Indoor Hugger Ceiling Fan: Features: Dry location rated. Pull chain control means you’ll always know where the fan control is. Blade specifications: Blade span: 42″. Number of blades: 5.
Blade pitch: 11°. Blades included: yes. Blades reversible: yes. Motor specifications: Motor type: AC induction. Motor size: 153mm x 10mm. Reversible motor: yes. Voltage: 120 V. Number of speeds: 3. Sloped ceiling specifications: For ceilings with slope from 35° to 45°, use the 45AD angled ceiling adapter.
High or low ceiling specifications: The Wyman is designed for installation on standard 8′ to 9′ ceilings. If your ceiling is higher, you’ll need to purchase an additional downrod. The rule of thumb is that ceiling fans should have a minimum of 7′ and a maximum of 9′ of clearance between the bottom of the fan and the floor in order to circulate air efficiently.
If you have a low ceiling, purchase the CMA flush mount adapter to reduce the hanging height of your fan.
I bought 4 of these during a remodel of my home & I couldn’t be more pleased. The globe is a frosted material, they’re beautiful. The blades are reversible, one side is white & the other is a light wood pattern.
So quiet you dont know its running. Plenty of light with the 2-60 watt bulbs (candelabra base) I was hoping for an oak finish but this is more of the white washed pine so Im using the white side instead.
Available in three finishes, the Minimus ceiling fan’s minimalist design makes it a great fit in your modern and transitional spaces. Designed to fit flush in rooms with low ceilings, this ultra-low-profile ceiling fan is perfect for small rooms with low ceiling heights.
The Minimus ceiling fan boasts a three-speed WhisperWind motor to deliver powerful, efficient airflow. You can easily control the dimmable, energy-efficient LED light and fan speeds with the included handheld remote.
We were replacing a 20+ year fan/light unit that was not Hunter brand. Honestly, one of our primary focuses was aesthetics. It needed to have a clean, modern look and not suspend down from the ceiling too much as our ceiling wasn’t very high.
This checks all of those boxes. I also had no issues assembling it in my dual-switch installation. The quality and balance seem excellent. There are a few items that I consider less than ideal. 1. This uses a proprietary, integrated LED light ring that costs $100 to replace.
The light comes with a ~2700k color temperature, and there are no other options available. It is not as bright as what we replaced. It would be easier for me to accept the replacement price tag if it also gave me the ability to switch to a 5000k color temperature like our other lights.
For the price and also no way to modify the light output, I would prefer that this design use some type of socketed lamp instead of a proprietary ring. The brightness and color of the light are the only things that my wife doesn’t like about this unit.
2. When replacing a fan in a dual switch scenario, it is not easy to decode which switch is which unless you also want to open up the switch box and do continuity checks. This is not Hunter’s fault at all as they can’t know what wire colors your setup uses.
I was able to figure this out by studying the existing wiring before disconnecting it. This should be no issue on a new install, but when replacing an existing unit that you didn’t wire, it could be confusing.
Which leads into my next topic. 3. You literally build the unit in-place piece-by-piece on the ceiling. With the beautiful, compact design, if you make a wiring error (like with the switches) then you must disassemble it all the way back to the beginning to correct the error.
Fortunately for me, I didn’t have any wiring errors but I recognized this potential as I was putting it together. Overall we still love the unit, but we have modified our routine as to which lights we use to light the room in the evenings.
Now that we own it and have it installed, the only thing that I could change would be an LED ring with different color temperatures. It’s not as big of an issue that this isn’t as bright, we can overcome that with other lights.
Even with the steep price, we plan to buy a spare LED ring so that if it ever does fail, we don’t need to be concerned if Hunter has stopped selling them.
Ok, I usually buy Casablanca fans, but in this particular location (bedroom) a high dollar fan was not warranted. I have two complaints about this particular fan: Mainly that the blades attach by 3 screws that have a lot of play on the blade, even when tightened securely, the blades wobbled badly.
I fixed this by installing a small o-ring at the base of the screw to eliminate the play. Fixed the problem! No need to “balance” the blade. My second complaint is about the quality control: The motor base is off just a bit causing the rotation to “sqiggle” ( is that a word), of course this has no effect on the fans operation, just a bit annoying for perfectionist’s.
Oh, and one last complaint: There are two separated wire connections for fan and light in the case of a dual switch set up, but only one ( the black wire) works to control the fan and light simultaneously.
The other wire, (blue) has no effect at all. I would have liked to control the fan and light individually from the wall. In Hunters defense, it was over half the cost of a Casablanca ( I do have one in the Living room) and does work fine ( silent too).
Canopy screws are chrome colored (unpainted) and extremely difficult to thread into the canopy. I called Hunter support and asked if the finish canopy screws are supposed to be unpainted and so ugly.
He said “Yes” and without prompting added “the website shows the white Minimus has chrome screws. ” I looked at the website while on the phone and noticed all pictures of the Minimus are angled perfectly so that the screws are not visible.
I asked the rep to look at the pictures with me. In a defeated voice, he agreed that the screws are not visible on the web pictures. This tell me: 1) this fan is of poor design aesthetically and structurally and 2) Hunter knows and has dishonestly decided to blame customers for not noticing ugly screws.
The Kichler Bead 54 Inch LED Ceiling Fan is the perfect addition to your modern or transitional home. This fan features a sleek design with a Stainless-Steel finish and a hugger-style canopy for a streamlined look.
Included with this fan are both a wall control as well as a remote for easy control. 3 speeds and reverse function allow for customization to your needs. An energy-efficient integrated LED light ensures this piece will last a lifetime.
This ceiling fan has features in common with hundreds of others, but there are areas where it excels. First of all is ease of installation. It didn’t require two people to install. One person easily managed it due to user friendly design details.
The instructions are clear-cut and easy to understand even for beginners. The next area where it excels is quiet, efficient operation. Even with three blades instead of five, it moves a lot of air, so I found I could run it on low speed and still get great circulation.
I can barely hear the motor when it’s running. Solid, sturdy flush mount means no wobble at all. The light is bright enough when I need overhead light but generally I leave it off and use lamps instead.
Last but not least, the remote control works flawlessly and is so simple to understand and use. No learning curve required. I like the fact that the fan remote is separate and not another app to clog up my cell phone.
Overall extremely pleased with everything about this fan. Kichler is tops in my opinion.
Experience an ideal blend of style and function with the Braden collection 44 in. 3-Blade Matte White LED Mid-Century Modern Indoor Hugger Ceiling Fan. 3 reversible plywood blades are coated in white and natural cherry finishes for extra design versatility.
The fan’s center is coated in a crisp matte white finish to accentuate its modern character. A remote control with batteries is included so you can adjust full-range dimming and fan speed with out breaking a sweat.
A wall bracket is also included for convenient remote storage.
Great design, love the aesthetics in my small, low-ceiling office. Exactly what I wanted to stay cool in hot months but keep an open, airy design in a tight space. Minus one star bc it makes a low frequency humming noise when on which my other fans don’t make.
Also, the light sometimes comes on by itself but overall I like it.
It says it is rated 1500 lumens but it’s really more like half that. You can dim and brighten the light but even on their brightest setting they don’t seem to output enough to fully light a small room well.
Light is the only disappointing part, everything else on these works great.
LED brushed nickel ceiling fan for flush-mount installations when ceiling height is of concern. Featuring reversible blades, the fan’s contemporary brushed nickel finish is complemented by both the walnut blade finish and the maple blade finish for a beautiful aesthetic in your space.
The opal frosted dome light fixture includes a 9-watt LED bulb that provides bright illumination. With a high-performance motor for powerful, yet quiet operation and 52 in. blades, this fan is ideal for most interior rooms up to 14 ft.
x 14 ft. Reversible walnut and maple blades Brushed nickel complements many interior accents Dome style light kit with frosted opal glass Uses one 9-watt LED medium base bulb, included Designed for interior use only Flush mount application for low ceilings Multi-capacitor for quiet operation and maximum air movement For most rooms up to 14 ft.
This fan is nice but the provided bulbs are not very bright for a kitchen. Increasing the light output (lumens) is not possible without exceeding the manufacture’s limitations. To make matters worse, finding the original bulbs or their equivalent is an issue.
The original bulbs put out 800 lumens of light with 6. 5 watts of power. The manual states that replacement bulbs must NOT exceed 6. 5 watts. That rules out the use of the so called 60 watt equivalent bulbs that are rated from 7 watts to 9 watts.
There is nothing available (that I am aware of) at Home Depot that is rated at 6. 5 watts with an 800 lumens output. It would seem that Home Depot is selling this fan/light but does not sell the original replacement bulb or an equivalent.
The closest available with 800 lumens output has a 7 watt power rating and that exceeds the Hampton requirements for this fan. Another thing to consider is that the original bulbs so not have a built in converter as do most LED bulbs.
Does that mean regular LED bulbs, with a built converter, should not be used in this fan? If not, the availability of correct bulbs is an issue.
A nice quiet fan, evidently of good quality. Slightly more difficult to install than some fans, primarily because of the ceiling-hugging design, but well worth the effort. The 3 speeds are well chosen.
The dome shaped lamp has a replaceable bulb which doesn’t evenly illuminate the frosted glass lens and is not terribly bright. Extra hardware was included. I can’t imagine any comparable fan being any better than this one, especially factoring in the remarkable price.
Because I’m extra cautious, I added 4 extra screws to the mounting bracket, so the electrical box isn’t the only support for the fan. I’m very happy so far. If the fan is durable, and I have no cause to think it won’t be, this product is the answer!!.
Excellent value for the price !! Looks expensive and elegant and is very quiet and honestly I couldnt be happier !! As far as lasting and performing well over time I have no idea , but from what Ive saw so far Im highly certain it will hold up fine anyone questioning whether to purchase one of these let me make it easy for u JUST BUY IT !! youll be glad u did I run mine every night n its great.
Use this low-profile Hugger 52 in. LED Espresso Bronze ceiling fan for flush-mount installations when ceiling height is of concern. Featuring reversible blades, the fans transitional espresso bronze finish is complemented with hickory and espresso blade finishes.
The opal frosted dome light fixture includes a 9-Watt LED bulb that provides bright illumination. With a high-performance motor for powerful, yet quiet operation and 52 in. blades, this fan is ideal for most interior rooms up to 12 ft.
It’s a little early to totally rate this product. It was shipped quickly. It looks really nice. It installed easily using the instructions shipped with the unit. The fan is not noisy. If it lasts forever, we’ll that would make it perfect.
Looks even better in real life than pictured. A very powerful and quiet fan with a bright light. I am thrilled with how good it looks and performs. Am thinking of buying a couple more for my living room and TV room, even though I really don’t need to replace the fans I have yet.
Update a room with this Mainstays 42 inch indoor ceiling Fan. Its ability to match nearly any existing setting due to its traditional style and bright finish make it the perfect addition to any room.
This white ceiling fan has multiple features that ensure function and versatility. Including four reversible blades and two pull switches for easy on, as well as off. Low ceilings are no problem as this ceiling fan can fit in these rooms as well.
It is also easy to assemble and comes with a single light, including 1 LED light bulb, soft white, non dimmable, provide you comfortable life environment.
So i purchased two of these fans to place in two guest bedrooms. I liked the fact that it was really cheap ($23) for a light and fan combo (with an LED bulb included). I also liked the fact that you could switch the blades (white on one side and brown on the other) out to match your bedroom.
The fan itself is sleek and the base doesnt takeup much room from the ceiling. I had an electrician install these during the dayand it looked great. It wasnt until nighttime i realized why these lights were $23.
So when you switch off the light at night, via switchthe bulb still stays on and gives off almost a ” mini nightlight” effect. The only way to switch this off completely is to pull the chain on the fan directly for the light.
IfI thought it was a defect but both of my lights are like this. you dont mightnde niglt being on and can sleep than its great. But if your a “darkroom” type of sleeper this wont work for you. Considering i dont use these rooms much, i dont mind, but i wouldnt recommend this for a main room.
I bought this in store because the box said “3 Mounting options” along with a diagram showing it has Flush-Mount installation, Downrod installation standard, AND Downrod installation for vaulted cielings! When I opened the box, the instructions said it cannot be mounted any way other than Flush, and there is no instructions on how to obtain the pieces I need to make it a Downrod fan! IF IT IS NOT FOR VAULTED CIELINGS THEN WHY IS IT ON THE BOX! NEVER will I, or anyone I know, will buy anything Mainstays again! Everything is either poor instructions, or badly put together and this was the last straw!.

I’m very impressed with this fan. I feel like the design is perfect for a modern look and it can go with just about any decor. I feel as if it can be used in a living room, family room, or a bedroom but I choose the living room for mine.
The installation process is fairly simple and just requires a tiny bit of elbow grease, the ability to read instructions, and a little bit of common sense. In my house, the ceilings are white so immediately upon entering the room, you’re eyes are drawn to the fan because that black color catches your eyes.
A ceiling fan with a light is always a bonus because it’s a two in one deal. You have illumination and a gentle breeze at the same time. Speaking of the illumination, the LED light provides an ample amount of light into the room without being too bright or too dim.
The fan itself provides great air circulation throughout the whole room and it’s an even flow. Overall, I really love it!! It is a conversation starter, an eye catcher, and it provides excellent air and illumination!!.

In the winter, the fan can be switched to the clockwise direction to recirculate warm air from the ceiling, eliminating cold spots and drafts. It offers a high quality, energy-efficient DC motor consumes about 60% less energy than an AC motor, lowering energy costs and minimizing environmental impact.
This IR3HLK-BK-MWH-60 offers an LED light kit providing bright illumination, additional energy and cost-saving benefits.
Let’s be honest, this is an expensive fan. The pros – you get what you pay for. The build quality is outstanding, it is very elegant in a modern way once installed and the fan is silent even at high speeds except for the air flow it creates.
The cons – the directions are incomprehensible. Apparently they were translated from another language into English because some of the sentences don’t make any sense. The pictures are particularly unhelpful.
And the order in which things are to be done (like putting the safety cable as the last item in the directions which it should be step two or three), are really frustrating. I’m ordering a second one in spite of these issues.
Great fan. Terrible instructions which lead me to believe this product was not made in the U. S. but perhaps was just assembled here.
Really took a chance on this and ordered 3 of these very expensive ceiling fans to replace older Hunter Original fans that were still operational but had remotes that were not. The fans look great, are very quiet , and circulate a tremendous amount of air even on the middle setting of the 6 setting range.
My electrician installed them and said they were fairly easy to put up. So I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: 1) Programming the remote was very difficult and time consuming and 2) Minor point here but the remotes have Roman numerals instead of numbers.
For a fan that looks so contemporary I find it odd that the remote looks ancient. If I could give 4 and a 1/2 stars I would do that because the fans themselves are excellent and perform as expected for something this pricey.
We were looking for a ceiling fan with a sleek design and urban barn feel. This fan is perfect! It looks fabulous in our bedroom and is incredibly silent. It’s a little pricey, but ultimately worth the investment.
The delivery to our address in rural Québec, Canada was slightly tricky, as the fan is delivered in two boxes and ours seemed to journey separately across the States. The Houzz team were very helpful when one of our parcels ended up going walkabout nevertheless.
From the tip of the fan down to the center of to the glass, the Benton holds a very classic look that offers a nice compliment to your room without overpowering. The low-profile of this fan is the perfect touch for lower ceilings and is complimented by a well-rounded bowl-shaped light.
The tasteful curvature of the bronze motor really compliments the double-leaf like design on the arms of the blade. The dipped bronze finish on the hardware is complimentary with both the chocolate maple and the deeper walnut finish on each side of the blades.
Plenty of air-flow is provided for medium to small size rooms and this fan also features a reversible airflow option which aids in warming during the winter by reversing the rotation of the blades. With its elegant look, the Benton pulls off many decor styles, making your rooms both inviting and harmonious.
This is a great fan and reached me right on time for Summer. Here in Texas, even with the AC it gets super hot so always needs a fan in here. This fan is wel built and looks very nice. Its 52″ so its big than my previous 48″ one.
The quality of the product is very good. It is sturdy and well all fan has a small base plate to hold it, this one has a long sturdy strong base plate that goes on the ceiling. The pull chains are high quality as well.
I just wish it had a remote for light and fan, but nevertheless its solid built and looka very polished. Highly recommend to anyone.
We have installed several fans over the years and this was an easy to install fan. It works great in our son’s room as it is a low profile model. He has a loft bed (half loft) in the room so running a ceiling fan in the room took some consideration.
This hugs the ceiling well. It’s sturdy and well built. The chains are also well constructed. Fan runs quiet. Reverse blades for summer cooling and pull for warmth in the winter is a great feature. Stylish and fits many decor styles.
Bought this ceiling fan for my living room. It was pretty easy to assemble. I replaced the soft white lightbulb that was in the box with a daylight lightbulb because I prefer those. Remember though having a single bulb means it won’t be AS bright as others.
The color is nice. What blew me away almost literally was how strong the fan blows. Was a big difference compared to the Harbor Bay that I had before. I ordered a second one for my dining room.
Featuring a sleek finish, the low-profile design of the 52 in. Hugger Ceiling Fan offers the perfect accent of functional style for your living space. Ideal for flush-mount installations when ceiling height is of concern, this efficient ceiling fan features five reversible blades, all coated in a durable and stylish matte black and complemented by a rich mahogany finish on the other side.
The opal-frosted dome light fixture includes a LED bulb and provides optimal illumination. Reversible blades with black finish on one side and mahogany finish on the other Integrated frosted opal dome light fixture Uses (1) 9.
5-Watt LED bulb, included 3-speed reversible control for versatile use Designed for interior use Flush mount installation for low ceilings Multi-capacitor for quiet operation and maximum air movement For most rooms up to 14 ft.
The fan is quiet and works good, the only problem is it’s not Hampton Bay. Nothing on packaging or fan, or manual identity a Hampton Bay trademark of any kind. False advertising as nothing ties this fan as the quality trademark advertised.
It’s only listed as a Hugger 52″ fan. If your expecting a Hampton Bay trademark don’t buy it. However, it is very nice for the excellent price. Ty.
many parts to assemble but it was quick and easy. No extra hardware was required. allow 30-40 minutes if experienced and replacing existing ceiling fan. Make sure the ceiling lights electrical box is sufficient for supporting a ceiling fan if replacing a light fixture.

We recently purchased this Progress Hugger fan after a game room/bedroom makeover. It is exactly what we wanted. Quietness was a necessity, which it is. Ease of installation would be nice, which it was much easier than other fans we have installed.
The price was very good. We have only had it a very short time but I would definitely recommend this fan.
Moves a good amount of air, and thing was that the wire had fallen it of the switch so I had to fix that before it worked. Not a big deAl but it would be if you didn’t know what you were doing, must have been a Friday afternoon build.

Available in Oiled Bronze, Polished Nickel, White, Black, or Satin Nickel motors with matching blades or an Aged Brass motor with Black bades.

We got these for our home’s living and Mater bedroom. Built in the late 60s, our home has lower ceilings. We were hesitant, but decided on the white fan, which blends right in and doesn’t draw the eye to it.
The fans are modern, but also timeless and clean looking. We opted for no light on the fan as we also installed LED lighting throughout the house and we are so glad we went that route. The only issue was one of the wall controls did not work.
We ended up using a more simple “slider” control on both units so they match. We are super happy with these fans and don’t be afraid of the white – it doesn’t look “dated” like my wide feared.
Pros : Nice Clean Design, Seems to work ok Cons : Ease of Installation/Lack of Good Instructions Overall it seems to be ok. The installation was more difficult than it should have been due to pretty poor instructions that were included.
I ended up having to use “common sense” to figure it out. Also, one of the screws was overtightened when it came and I could not get it out. The cover plate is just a tad off because of this thus a 3 star rating.
We received our fan and had it installed by an electrician only to discover that the outer cylinder wasn’t round, so the fan wobbled. This isn’t anything that balancing the fan can fix, it’s a manufacturing defect.
To their credit, Ylighting replaced the unit and had us dispose of the first (surprisingly – seems a waste since only the outer cowl was malformed). Before install I took the motor unit (with outer cowl attached) out of the box and spun it to discover the identical problem.
Everything else about this fan is alright, but for $300 a ceiling fan shaped like a cylinder should be ROUND.
Hunter Fan The ceiling fan with led light adds a modern, casual look to your large bedrooms, living rooms, playrooms, and kitchens. Control this ceiling fan with the included handheld remote or smart home devices including apple home kit, Amazon Alexa, and the google assistant.
The remote receiver is preinstalled for easy ceiling fan installation and less wiring. This ceiling fan is designed and engineered for rooms with ceilings 9 feet and lower.
A bit louder than I was hoping for. The motor sound also cycles about once per second. A constant hum would be preferable to a cyclic sound. Light buzzes when dimmed, just turned off the dimming feature to avoid that.
HomeKit integration is great. Only hiccup is when trying to create an automation to turn off the fan, while the fan is running. The fan is removed from the automation, instead of staying as a command to turn off… not sure if that’s Apple or Hunter related.
This Casa Habitat hugger-style ceiling fan from Casa Vieja features a low-profile design with a 52″ blade span that makes it ideal for many rooms in the home. This pull-chain model has a white fan motor finish with an integrated LED light and frosted white glass.
Three energy-efficient LED light bulbs included. Change the look of the fan with the reversible white and light oak blades.
I use mine in the back room of the house where my home office is. If I have anything else going on, like music, or even my desktop computer, I don’t hear the fan. However, if am reading in an otherwise quiet room, I can hear the thrumming of the fan.
My fan also had a bad 9 pin power plug, which I jury rigged to make work, safely. The middle part of the fan structure, with the switches and wiring harness on it could be designed a bit better by moving the transformers and wire bundles away from the attachment points to the structure above.
As is, you have to fight the cables that are in close proximity to the mounting lug, and blindly put a screw through it to attach it. Included a clever balancing kit that I didn’t seem to need, but will hang on to just in case the need arises later.
It would also be nice if there was a way to distinguish the fan control chain from the light control chain. Pros: Circulates Air Well, Complete Kit, Range of Speeds, Attractive Cons: Poor Instructions, Not Silent But Not Loud, Easy Install With 3 Hands.
The Axis Flush Mount Smart Fan by Modern Forms provides ample airflow in a minimal package. Its Aluminum design features 3 blades with a 52 inch diameter for abundant and efficient airflow. Built with a weather-resistant finish, the fan is a great addition to any indoor or outdoor space.
Air and light can be controlled using an included Bluetooth remote control, an optional digital Wi-Fi wall plate (sold separately), the Modern Forms app or with any integrated smart home device (Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, ecobee, Nest).
Modern Forms was established in 2013 by WAC Lighting as a forward-thinking brand in both technology and design. Both lights and fans showcase the latest in eco-friendly LED hardware and app-controlled, whisper-quiet DC motors.
By blending progressive aesthetics with expert craftsmanship and upscale materials, they are able to create a variety of distinctly minimalist structures which pay homage to Scandinavian and Mid-Century design.
I have installed two of these and would happily buy more. They are quite a bit more than other bargain fans but it is well made, has sleek simple design and has advanced smart controls. I have not experienced any of the pairing issues others talk about – I suspect they are using the separate wall control that with the remote and WiFi features just isn’t necessary.
I had the fan added to my network in no time with the Modern Forms app and then was able to integrate it with my Google Assistant for voice control. The light and fan show up as different devices so you can turn them on and off and dim or control speed separately.
My only complaints are about the install which is relatively simple but could be easier in two ways: 1. There are four substantial screws that secure the fan body to the mounting bracket and the are right up against the ceiling.
I’m sure there are people who didn’t have a long thing screwdriver and found it very hard to tighten them up. If they were even 1/4″ further from the top of the fan it would be a lot easier. 2. You have to connect a lot of wires to the fan controller / remote that is mounted inside of the body of the fan.
Three go the house power – live, neutral, earth – but then there are multiple ones that go from controller to the fan and light, I think these might all be low voltage. They are all pretty thin braided wire connections that you make with wire nuts.
I’ve no idea why the wires for the fan motor and light can’t be put in one connector block that just snaps together – this is how connection for the optional light is done. The would avoid any risk of someone connecting the wrong wires or them coming loose – wire nuts don’t seem optimal for connecting thin braided wire and could easily fall off as you jam them into the fan body or up into the junction box as suggested.
I added electrical tape to mine just got good measure. Other than that if you already have the fan rated ceiling box in place you’re only going to need 30 minutes and a screwdriver to install this. Setting up the WiFi connection after took me about 5 minutes, I didn’t even need the MAC address as suggested in the instructions, the Modern Forms app found the new fan without any issue (make sure you don’t have a VPN running on your phone though, it may block detection of the fan on the network).
I bought 4 of these fans in June 2020, attracted by the clean lines and flush mount. They worked properly for approximately one week. There’s nothing wrong mechanically with the fans. It’s the wall switch and app interface that are the problem.
The wall switches connect to the fans via Bluetooth, but they never stay connected (paired) and are incredibly difficult to repair. Thinking it was the switch, I bought four new ones at my own cost ($50 each), but this did not fix the problem either.
I reached out to Modern Forms customer service, but no one on there end could resolve the problem. The app also only intermittently worked to control one of the four fans. The app itself is plagued with UI and functionality issues: it regularly freezes and crashes.
Needless to say, I’m very disappointed with this product, and after a year and a half of trying to fix it, they can’t be returned. Do not buy this product.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to replace our guest room ceiling fan and now I wish I replaced all of our bedroom fans with this one! The light is brighter than I had expected (so I was also opting to put in some recessed LED’s but we might not need to anymore).
It’s sleek, quiet, looks cool but non-obtrusive. As far as the fan– it’s a perfect size for our guest room, relatively quiet, two thumbs up. Make sure your ceiling is FLAT though because it will be noticeable otherwise based on the long cylinder design.
Oh yeah, the remote control is AMAZING. attaches to the wall hardware magnetically. Super cool. Really, we love it and may be purchasing another soon.
The hugger ceiling fan with light is an efficient and stylish way to keep your home cool and well-lit. The light is bright enough to illuminate a room while the fan circulates air to keep it comfortable.
The fan is also quiet and has a sleek design that will complement any home décor.
