A grill pan is a pan that is used to cook food on a grill. It is usually made of metal or cast iron and has a raised grid pattern on the bottom. This allows the fat and juices to drain away from the food as it cooks, and also gives the food nice grill marks.
Grill pans can be used on both gas and charcoal grills.

I just bought this and was so excited to grill my burgers on it. I brushed it with olive oil and placed it on the grill to heat up. The pan completely burned and a dark film developed which I could not remove.
I am so disappointed with this purchase that I never used even one time. I hope Weber reads this review and issues a refund to me. Also, there is nothing on the packaging that says don’t apply oil to the pan.
I have just bought my 3rd Deluxe Grilling pan. Although the other 2 are in good shape their appearance is horrible. The pan turns dark after grilling a few times. Weber says put it in a dishwasher. doesn’t work well.
Cannot get it back to the original stainless look no matter what I do. I am embarrased to use the darker one in front of guests. It looks very dirty and un-appetizing to cook on so I bought a 3rd one.
Can’t keep buying new ones. It is a great product but VERY hard to clean!!!.
Just got a Weber Genesis II 435 for my birthday, thanks to my wonderful mother. I bought this off Amazon, again not patient. wanted it asap. The first time using it I grilled onions and peppers. OMG.
They turned out amazing where I could have had them all as my meal. but I had to share. It washed up well. Of course, they all will turn a little in color. I used the Norwex pot scrubber, soap, and water and it cleaned up easy.
Hint. must use oil in order to prevent the food from sticking, no difference then cooking in a pan on your stove. Tomorrow, going to use it to grill asparagus. along with trying out the searing feature on the grill and the potato nails.

I bought this pan by mistake. I didn’t notice that it had a grill bottom. But it’s fantastic for steaks bacon burgers. Just heat oven to 400 with pan for 5 mins. Put on stove top. Seer meats 2 mins. Each side.
Back in oven for about 5 mins. Perfect. I really like this pan.
We were planning to grill some pork chops that have a ‘sticky’ marinade. Bad weather moved in so we decided to use the grill pan. Had seasoned it as directed prior. Did not use any oil. They turned out wonderful and we could actually clean the cooled pan w/ a paper towel like the show on advertisements.
This is one surface that lives up to its promises – resists all kinds of abuse and doesn’t chip, flake or scratch. We had another grill-type pan, which is handy when the Foreman won’t cut it, but its surface didn’t last.
So far, this pan has proven superior by far at all temperatures. Gets that fat out of the way, plus nice sizzle grill marks if you want them.

I own a set of premium never stick cookware and a possible pan. New Ninja grill and griddle and a Smart XL pressure cooker. I love them all! Everything they make is excellent except this grill pan, so here’s why.
It’s part of the premium line but it doesn’t feel as thick. The bottom is the same material as the sides. It does not heat up evenly or consistently. I’ve used it twice and the second time at a lower heat setting and it’s just all over the place.
Neither was a good cook. The positive is that it has the same great handle. You might like it but for me. It’s the only Ninja product I have that I consider a total fail.
I bought this for my wife as a x-mas present since she loves cooking grilled cheese sandwiches and french toast. It’s always a battle to fit enough pieces of bread in a regular frying pan so I stumbled onto this.
It works great, able to make four grilled cheese sandwiches at the same time. We have an electric stove with a ceramic top. It fits the 10″ burner perfectly and heats very evenly. Very pleased so far and I also got her the ninja 13pc nesting pan set.
Only negative would be the price, way too much for a simple griddle but it is of good quality!!.

This not only rocks as a nice way to saute and cook other things on the grill, but I use it to serve whatever I’m cooking on the grill and it keeps it hot. It’s a good looking piece to serve food on.
It’s currently one of my most used pieces. It cleans up really easy too. This was one thing I was not sure I would use much but instead it has quickly become my favorite. It’s not a normal cast iron pan it seems like it is coated with something that makes it fit for serving as well as cooking.
Got it for my hubby as a birthday gift as he loves cooking and doing BBQs too. It’s great product, easy to use. Used couple of times already and everything was so good. Can be used not only on BBQ but also in the oven which is very handy.
Would defo recommend to anyone who likes healthier and lighter way of cooking as it doesn’t require too much oil to cook on it.
Got this with a new Weber BBQ. Has proved to be an essential piece of BBQ kit, great for a variety of things – onions, halloumi, meat strips etc and keeps stuff warm as a hot plate when moving food over to the picnic table.
Have used with every BBQ since acquisition. Quality weighty Griddle. Would not want to be without.
The Lodge Cast Iron 10. 25-inch square Grill Pan puts restaurant stripes on your grilled favorites like a pro. Helps with low fat cooking as the ribbed bottom pan lets you keep foods from simmering in fatty drippings.
Cast-iron is a multi-functional cookware that works wonders with slow-cooking recipes and all your favorite foods. Cast iron loves a campfire, a stovetop, or an oven, and can slow-cook foods without scorching.
It retains heat well so you can sear meat at higher temperatures and will keep your delicious meals warm for a long time. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, theses virtually indestructible cookware should last for generations.
Made of cast iron, this cookware evenly distributes heat from the bottom through the sidewalls. Sporting a stylish black color, the cast iron grill pan looks good in most kitchens and it doubles up as an excellent source of nutritional iron.
It gives you a nearly non-stick surface, without the possible harmful fumes generated by preheating chemically treated nonstick cookware. The American-based company, Lodge, has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century.
I never thought I would use this as much as I do! I purchased it from Costco and now use it several times a week. We leave it on top of the cooktop since it is very heavy. Since we live in New England we don’t use our outdoor grill from October through April so this takes the place.
We grill steaks, pork, chicken, fish and veggies. Cleanup is a breeze. Soak for a few minutes and clean with a stiff brush. No soap. You don’t want to remove the seasoned layer.
Love it! My meats come out juicy and full of flavor. Ensure you follow cleaning directions. I seen comments on various sights regarding rusting. I have now used mine several times and no rusting. I wash after every used, dry with a cloth, set in stove with fire in low to finish drying, than spray with olive oil.
Looks like new every time. Ensure you wash within a hour or so after use. Do not allow food to sit in pan over night.
Good size, excellent product. I’ve used cast iron for thirty years and my pans are a gorgeous satin-smooth black. This pan will definitely get some good use. Rather than using it straight off, I put it through several cycles of seasoning.
Note that because of the ridges, with the oil collecting in the valleys, it took a while to get the seasoning even. Note that many people (including some of the reviewers) don’t really understand how the seasoning works.
The oils cook down to the point where the molecules act just like polymers. The more seasoning, the more solid the coating. When you wash the pan DO use liquid detergent. The detergent removes the thick gunk, while not being able to break down the seasoning beneath.
The dry it, lightly oil it, and you’re done (one reviewer said it rusted the first time. Obviously they did not read the instructions and did not oil it. ). As long as the pan doesn’t get so ridiculously hot that it turns the seasoning into ash, it will become better seasoned the more you use it.
As for the pan itself, I prefer the square 10. 5 inch model over the round pans. While the round pans can claim a bit more even heating, as the iron distributes the heat, this is not much of an issue – not like an aluminum pan.
The square shape lets you fit more food into the pan and it works better for things like kabob. I like the pan. I later ordered the matching tempered glass lid. I’m very happy with them.
Bring your kitchen outside, and create food never thought possible on your grill, with the WEBER CRAFTED Outdoor Kitchen Collection. Simply replace your right-side cooking grate with the WEBER CRAFTED Flat Top and make anything from pancakes and eggs, to fajitas in your grill.
WEBER CRAFTED compatible grill, frame, and cooking grates required for use.
I have owned this griddle for a few weeks now, long enough to give a good analysis. Like a good cast iron pan, this griddle requires care and seasoning. It is steel so if not cared for, it can rust. That said it is a very thick, well constructed plate of steel.
When I ordered it, I also ordered what I needed to season it. From a major online retailer I purchased Crispbee Stick. This product works extremely well for seasoning when applied following the instructions.
I seasoned it twice before use. With seasoning applied I started using this daily to get a feel for how well it works. Each time I use it I preheat in my 2022 Weber Genesis EX-335 for 20 minutes with all burners on low (not using the searing burner).
I really like the large surface. I can cook an entire 1lb package of bacon with none overlapping. I can cook four large (over 8″) pancakes at once. I can grill nine 3 oz smash burgers at the same time with room around each one.
While cooking the smash burgers I simultaneously grilled two packages of hot dogs on the remaining grill area of my EX-335, an toasted buns on the top rack. I heard bacon corn was a thing to do on the griddle so I grilled a pound of chopped bacon at a low temp to render out the fat, then increased temp to high and threw on 3 pounds of frozen corn.
I quickly realized the over half in tall sidewalls could contain the corn, but the oil drain hole was losing corn. A folded piece of aluminum foil solved that issue. 3 pounds of bacon corn was plenty as a side for hosting 20 people.
I would say this griddle is a perfect compliment to your grilling station. Don’t wash this grill with soap and water. Seriously treat it like cast iron. Get yourself a heavy spatuIa for making smash burgers.
I purchased from a major online retailer the “Mercer Culinary Hell’s Handle heavy duty turner/spatula” that is 6″x5″. Its perfect for smash burgers, cutting meat smaller when making fajita’s with its almost sharp edges, pancakes, and pretty much anything that doesn’t require tongs.
Its it great for cleanup too. When done cooking, before the griddle cools down, use the sharp edge to scrape food residue off the griddle. Next grab a couple wet paper towels and wipe it down to steam clean it.
I have added Crispbee Cream to my collection of maintenance items. I squirt it around on the griddle then wipe it with a paper towel to give it a nice thin coating to preserve the finish. If you are storing the griddle after use, don’t let it cool completely.
While still warm, but not so hot you will get burned, lift it out of the Crafted rack, and wipe the outside edges and bottom with a dry paper towel to remove any grease. If necessary use the flimsy plastic scraper that came with your Genesis to scrape off any heavy grease or food gunk.
Just don’t get the outside wet, it will rust. Now you can place it in the grill garage and worry less about grease/oil getting all over everything. I always place it in the same spot with cardboard up against it.
The cardboard can absorb anything I missed with the paper towel and keeps it from contaminating pizza stone, cutting board, or whatever else is stored next to it. If storing long term dont use card board next to it since it can hold moisture.
If you dont expect to use it within the next couple weeks, use plastic instead. Happy griddling!.
This is a great edition to get a flat top option with an already quality grill. Just like any cast iron cookware, take time to season it as directed otherwise you will be out of luck. I used avocado oil for this as it can withstand higher temps.
Since seasoning it, I’ve made bacon and French toast, as well as smash burgers. LOVE IT. Remember to only use a hard plastic scraper as needed for cleaning, but I recommend pouring a touch of water on griddle after use to free any sticky food.
HOT water rinse and then dry and apply thin coat of oil after each use before storing. I will buy more optional grates to try.
I’ve used this griddle got a few weeks now and it has exceeded my expectations. Thus far I’ve made bacon, smash burgers, and philly cheesesteaks -each to rave reviews. The cooking surface is of decent size and heats more evenly than I expected.
That’s not to say there aren’t any cold and hot spots- there are, but its manageable. I find myself closing the grill lid to keep the cook surface temp where I want it, but other than that, its a solid add-on and extended the variety of what I can cook outdoors without buying a blackstone.
Heavy-gauge Grill Ribs 1/4” tall ribs deliver serious sear lines while creating space for excess fats and juices to drain away – ensuring that you’re grilling, not frying or boiling, your food. True BBQ-width Spacing 3/16” wide ribs spaced 5/8” apart allow for easier cleaning and enough dry heat between the ribs to deliver true grilling flavour.
Thick/Heavy Base Thick cast iron bases and sides store and distribute heat, evening out hot spots and allowing for a variety of grilling styles from slow roasting to quick searing, on any heat source.
Pre-seasoning Ready to cook right out of the box, each cast iron piece comes pre-seasoned with 100% organic flaxseed oil to a non-stick, rust resistant bronze finish that will patina, darken and continue to improve as you cook.
Spring Handles Wound from 300 series stainless steel rod stock and hand polished to high luster, our handles stay cool longer, cool off quicker and feel better in the hand. Inspired Machined Ribs Individually CNC machined smooth ribs are smooth to the touch for near non-stick grilling and easier cleaning.
Domed Surface Domed interior surface drains excess fat and juices to the corners of the pan, reducing smoke and delivering FINEX true grilling flavour, without the fat End Cap Milled and hand polished to add eye-catching balance and allow for secure hanging, our end caps patina and age beautifully.
This is a very cool looking grill and it is solid and very high quality. however, it is extremely heavy! It is described as a “heavyweight cast iron grill” and they are not kidding. My husband is a pretty big guy and cooked in restaurants throughout HS and college- and he thought the grill pan was a little too heavy for himself.
I can not lift it with one hand and I am not a push over either. I weighed it in at 7. 5 lbs but it feels like 20! Have not purchased this brand before, but have had grill pans through the years and I know they are heavy but this one takes the cake.
Really not practical for me or any other female I know! Not sure if we will keep it.
This grill pan is amazing. So good I felt I needed to write a review. So easy to clean. I use my lodge scrubber brush and some warm water. The only thing is it’s a little heavy on the weight. but it’s cast iron, and totally worth it either way.
Please don’t hesitate to buy this or any finex product. Quality is 1000 percent. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks WS.
This pan out works much better than my other. The ridges are higher and broader, giving the steak room to cook without steam. The wider grill ridges give a great sear. 1 minute then turn 45 degrees and another minute to give the diamond sear.
turn over and repeat other side. and finish in broiler. Great steak in five minutes. Love it.
Pre-seasoned grill pan is ready-to-use. Usable in all kitchens: gas, electric, induction, oven, camping, grill etc. Victoria cast iron skillets include instructions on use and care to upkeep and improve seasoning with time High quality commercial iron casting for durability and excellent heat retention.
I have both Lodge and Victoria grill pans. Victoria is lighter than Lodge (2. 5lbs vs 6. 5lbs) and have a longer handle. Victoria hands down win in the ergonomics deparmtent carrying Victoria is much easier on the wrist.
However, when it come to cooking and cleaning, Lodge has a much smoother surface than Victoria. None of them are considered to be smooth compared with vintage case iron or mirror finishing of Japanese carbon steel.
But seasoning Lodge would not rip my paper towel or sponge applicator apart. Spatula / turner would glide across Lodge smoothly. One more thing, buy the glass lid to save yourself from splatter!.
I am a Lodge fan, but I wanted to try this one. This is every bit as good. The only advantage I see with Lodge is they are made in America. I decided to try this to save a couple of bucks, It makes great grilled chicken breasts (skinless and boneless) and burgers.
Great for apartments, or when you just don’t feel like grilling outside. Great weight. Very sturdy.
Works about as well as the comparable Lodge. The grill ridges are a bit shallower and spaced further apart, which affects its performance not at all. The handles are larger than the Lodge, which I like.
So far I’ve only used it for steaks and asparagus, which it excels at.
Pioneering Granite Stone Diamond cookware features a mineral infused granite coating that is the perfect blend of nonstick, durability & ease of use. GraniteStone Diamond cookware is pressed from a single sheet of aluminum and layered 3 times with our proprietary coating for the ultimate nonstick experience which requires no oil, making healthy cooking easy.
The extra thick coating is super durable and is scratch resistant and metal utensil safe. The pans sleek and modern speckled exterior with neutral tones will match any kitchen decor. Cleanup is a breeze too, and the pans will look new even after years of use.
This is one of the best pans ever!! First off I love that it is not heavy and the 10 inch is perfect for 2, as well as 4 people, even more depending on what you are cooking. I, of course had to tested first by frying eggs with no oil, and Oh My.
it did not stick! the emerald green non-stick aluminum is so elegant, this brand even advertises chopping veggies inside the pan and will not scratch it, but I honestly do not have the need to do that, so I would not try to do that at the moment.
It is safe to use in the oven up to 500 F, and I just love when you can do this with your cookware because cleanup is much easier, and super convenient. The cooking in this pan has been wonderful, and it looks just like new after washing in the dishwasher.
Really love grilling for about 7 months out of the year, but when it drops below 50 degrees, I like staying inside. This grill is super easy to set up, and extremely easy to use. It provides a great cooking temperature for all things like steak, burgers, roasts, and even hot dogs.
Sometimes I like to use it for panini sandwiches as well. It is very quick to heat up, and any and all drippings are very easy to clean. The adjustable temperature control makes it a cinch to change from item to item.
This is a great grill pan. The stay-cool handle really stays cool and it is very solid, not flimsy at all. The pan is well constructed and the blue is a very nice color. It fits perfectly on the grates of my gas stove.
I’ve cooked burgers, hot dogs, and sausages so far and everything comes out perfectly. I love that you don’t really need oil or butter while cooking. It is so nice to be able to have grilled items when you can’t use an outdoor grill!.
The Lodge 12-inch Seasoned Steel Grill Pan expands the grill master’s menu. The grid design allows for the perfect amount of smoke and sear, without losing your veggies or shrimp. The pan is the right tool for grilling in the backyard or the backwoods.
And like our cast iron cookware, these pans are seasoned with our proprietary vegetable oil formula, providing an easy release oil finish that improves with use. The heavy 12 gauge carbon steel maintains very low and very high temperatures, making the pan a highly effective and versatile cooking piece.
After cooking, clean with a stiff nylon brush and hot water. Using soap is not recommended, and harsh detergents should never be used. Towel dry immediately and apply a light coating of oil to utensil while it is still warm.
These are the best grill top griddles I ever used. I used non-stick ones and while they are lighter the do get scratched and burned. These on the other hand last forever and great for anything you would normally use them for: burgers/ground meat kebabs, fish, veggies.
The only complaint I have is that I wish they made them a bit larger or smaller (smaller so I could bit two on my grill or larger to take more space of my grill).
I just used this pan to grill scallops and veggies. Everything came out great–so overcooking and clean up was so easy. I had looked at several different type of grilling pans but as I am a huge fan of cast iron and Lodge products, I decided to purchase this pan.
Porcelain-enameled, cast-iron cooking surface. Dimensions: 17. 5L x 11. 9W x 2H in, 13. 7 lbs. Sloped cooking surface with grease reservoir. Replaces 1 grate on Spirit 200- and 300-series gas grills.

The porcelain-enameled, cast-iron griddle provides exceptional heat retention and distribution for evenly cooked food. Designed to replace one grate on all Spirit 200- and 300-series gas grills, this griddle fits easily and securely into your outdoor cooking station.
And clean cooking with this griddle is a breeze, since the sloped cooking surface drains any grease away into a reservoir.
Gas grill game changer. You can cook anything on this griddle. Makes searing steaks or frying veges a breeze. I love it! Easy to quickly put in place and cleans up just as easy. I wish I would have discovered it years ago.
The griddle gives me another grilling option. I really like that I can use half of my grill surface for traditional grilling and the other half with the griddle for making bacon, vegetables, smash burgers or anything that would require a flat surface.
Clean up has been fairly easy however the griddle is quite heavy so I am careful when I bring it into the house to wash it in the sink. Overall I am very pleased with the Weber Griddle.

First time I used it , it warped. After it cooled , it returned to normal. Next time it warped again. Cleaning was more of a challenge than I expected. Coating it with cooking oil before use is not enough to keep from using Brillo or S.
O. S. pads for scrubbing. All in all, better than having my salmon fall through the grill grates.

This is heavy duty steel. Holds lots of vegetables. Nothing falls through. Grills them up nicely. Takes some work to clean but you can scrub with anything you want. Cleaning gets easier the more you use it and it gets more seasoned with oil.
I’ve only used this one time, and it worked fine. It roasted a bunch of vegetables wonderfully. I might rate it even higher after I’ve used it several times. It was easy to clean and I think I’m going to like it.
The 11 Inch Square Grill Pan elevates cooking through thoughtful design inspired by chefs, including dual handles for great control as you maneuver around your kitchen. The ribbed surface allows fat to drain while also searing tantalizing grill marks onto your food.
With spatula-friendly sloped sidewalls, you can easily flip your food. Seasoned to bring out rich flavors, this grill pan is bound to become a favorite for years to come.
I own a few non-enameled cast iron pans, and this is the first one that arrived with pits in the surface. I understand newer pans do not have the smooth surface that vintage cast iron often has. These are small pits rather than a rough surface, and I’m concerned about them filling with food.
No way to get them clean without digging with a needle. Is this normal? I don’t believe so. Is it a potential hazard, or no big deal? Regardless, this pan probably should be a second. I’ll probably return or exchange if I’m near a store and can inspect a different one.
The steak has the best flavor ever! After many years of cooking steak in a cast iron pan (How to cook perfect steak Jamie Oliver!), I decided to get this square grill pan. We were impressed, it was perfect! I also got a small pan which I use for omelets.
They are fluffy and delish. I’m hooked and will be adding more to my collection. Check out their website, it has great information on how to properly care for the pan and much more.
It?s is so good for a panini sandwich. It cooks our pancakes so Beautiful! I just love all my lodge cast iron cookware. I?m a collector of Cast Iron! I also give as gift to family members. A very happy customer!.

I love this pan and my first 2 rib eye steaks were gorgeous and just like they had been done on the BQ. Chicken skewers next:). The quality of the pan is first class. Perhaps a little recommendation would be to do a ribbed pan with handles on the side so that it can fit inside an oven for finishing steaks etc.
You may already do one of these? Thank you. Joolz.
I am very cognizant of what we should cook with as I have had brain surgery. Stay away from aluminum and cast iron to cut down your chances of getting brain problems. I threw away all of my cookware except for stainless and pyrex.
While on the cooking subject stay away from all plastics as when heated the chemicals are emitted, and never use cracked china. the chemicals and paints get in the cracks. This skillet is just what I was looking for.
I am afraid that my grill rack is cast iron. I have to do research on that, and I hope to be able to use this instead of cooking on the grill all the time, and getting the effect of the rack. The steak I did was decent.
I poured water in it and let it sit before I put in into the dishwasher, and it are out proetty clean.
Please can someone make a griddle pan that doesn’t warp on an induction hob? Nice pan but after one use on medium heat it bow the base of the pan has a lovely dome shape and no longer efficient. Our Jamie Oliver griddle pan did exactly the same but bowed the other way.
The reviews regarding rust is comical. It’s iron. if you leave any amount of moisture it will rust. And yes it is heavy because it’s made out of iron. This is a great pan and lodge is affordable, made in the USA, and wonderful! Do your research on how to use it and you will be loyal to it.
Tips. preheat pan in oven or stove top. When you clean it with water, take it back to the stove top and let the water evaporate so IT WONT RUST. then once it’s hot, put a very thin coat of oil on it and let it heat up for a little.
Do your research, there are plenary of tips. Don’t give up so easily and don’t expect it to not rust when you leave water on IRON.
The Chasseur Round Cast Iron Grill provides all the flavor of an outdoor grill, with all the convenience of indoor cooking. This grill pan is constructed of thick cast iron to maintain its temperatureduring cooking, making it ideal for grilling anytime.
While cooking, ridges allow excess fat and grease to drain, and the spouts on the edge allow for easy removal. The extra handles makes this fry pan easy to move and perfect for any kitchen.
I love everything about this pan! I cooked marinated lamb backstrap like a Michelin Star chef on my induction cooktop (I usually struggle to boil water :)) Easy clean-up after the lamb: a squirt of dishwashing liquid, water, overnight soak, and the burned on marinade fell off, leaving the pan looking brand new.
Adore the Quartz colour. I already own a Chasseur French Oven so, from experience with this brand, the pan has met my expectations. Highly recommend Chasseur cookware!.
The “French” made Cast iron griddle is a must have for anyone passionate about cooking. Pros: Easy to use, energy saver, great results, easy to clean. Cons: the handle should be a little longer to give a greater balance and ease of handling.
