20 Best Golf Balls For Hitting Straight (2023 Updated)

I’ve used the Wilson 500 for years, always a good feel off my clubs. I can tell when I make solid impact and have control over the ball. The vis yellow is nice on longer rough areas. love the quality and the price.

I am 54 years old and a high handicap, weekend golfer. My coworker golf partners make fun of my “cheap golf balls, but you know what, last week I had the best score of our foursome! And I usually out drive them.

And, when I hit out of bounds, I don’t hold up play searching for my expensive ball. You’ll hear comments how these balls don’t have the ” feel” around the green. But I see other guys “skulling, and making poor chip shots with their premium balls.

So, unless you are a low handicap golfer, that can truly take advantage of specialized premium golf balls, I highly recommend these.

Very nice golf ball. With my mid 90 mph ss, ball performed well in some very windy conditions. For what it is worth, I play to a 7 hd p. Excellent trajectory on all shots and held the line very well.

It was as long for me compared to the AVX. Held greens on half and full wedge shots. Not the spiniest but very good. Several shots hit and maybe a foot or two roll out. Felt very good off all clubs. A little softer feel than AVX but solid with all clubs.

It sounds a bit “clicky” on a milled face putter, but I prefer that over a marshmallow feel and sound. Given price point, I may change this year. Been playing AVX for several years now. A very good ball, but I really like the carry and overall performance of this B 566 V ball.

Bought these on recommendation from a close golf buddy. We have similar games and played the same ball until he switched to the RB Tour X. He loves them and now plays them exclusively. So, based on his impression and the fact we preferred/played the same ball, I pulled the trigger and got six dozen of the Tour X’s.

Couldn’t pass them up given the price and a pretty hefty discount for buying six dozen (way cheaper than the one I was gaming). Well, that was a big mistake! These have to be the worse golf ball I have ever played.

Which is saying a lot since I’ve been golfing for 30+ years. First the cover – It feels great around the greens, but one bunker shot or that first pured iron and it’s cut with groove marks Second – Lack of distance.

Thought it was my imagination at first, but compared them to two other brands on the GC Quad and they are consistently 15+ yards shorter of the driver and a club difference shorter off the irons Third the feel – The only reason they get 1-Star is because the feel around the greens.

Very similar to Srixon’s Z-XV. Just a little less clicky. Other than that, they feel like a waterlogged dud. Heavy off the club face and no explosiveness whatsoever.

Very decent ball. Everyone will have their preferences but this worked for me. Not quite a “clicky” as its predessessor. It’s just, above average at everything, at around half the price of most premium balls? Soft enough; Long enough; straight enough.

You get the drift? It seems reasonably robust too as I’ve played one round with it, didn’t lose the ball and it’s still in “good nick”.

I purchased 3 dozen Chrome Soft golf balls. I purchased their highest rated balls, which they said were like new. 8 of the balls had serious blemishes, the kind of scuff the happen when the ball hits a concrete cart path, so those went straight into the shag bag.

Several more had discolorations, possibly from being in the water. I was pretty disappointed with my order, since I was expecting “like new” and received “obviously used”.

Exactly what I was expecting. Balls arc gracefully towards nearest water hazard, bunker or out of bounds area. Low buoyancy ensures retrieval prospects from aquatic resting places are minimalised. Smooth roll allows full run out of putts to maximise distance of return effort.

Excellent feel on connection with blade edge. Piercing trajectory of said shot elicits comical emotional response. Very happy with purchase 10/10.

I am a high handicapper that has been playing Noodles and other bargain golf balls. I have been playing better lately so I thought I’d try these to see if I could notice a difference in distance and consistency.

I didn’t think I would be consistent enough to notice a difference. I did. I normally average 170-180 on a drive. My first drive came in at 205. My next drive was 193. My 3 wood is usually 160-170. I used it twice in the round.

First shot went 180 and second shot went 193 (uphill). They feel great, maybe the softest ball I’ve tried. I honestly loved the performance first time out.

Great ball for price. Spin rates are a bit lower which can help if that’s what you’re looking for. Ball is extremely soft which takes getting used to if you’re not expecting it. Great ball if you’re looking to keep an easy swing while keeping some of the distance.

Haven’t played in the cold with it yet but will likely be my go-to in late fall.

I have a slice, sometimes. It’s not terrible but enough to put me in a bad position if I get it all wrong. I tried these balls, along with a friend of mine and we were impressed. On a couple of tee shots I knew i’d sliced it slightly but I could see the ball wobble in the air and fight the urge to drift right.

I was also impressed that it did almost the same trick when hitting long irons off the deck. As a 20hcp, this has given me more belief that i can improve on the tee shots where I feel comfortable and take on the more difficult tees with a Polara.

All in all, I was impressed and may buy a dozen more – but only after several more rounds to see whether it’s the ball or me ;D.

I play to a 10 handicap but sometimes seem to spray the golf ball a little off the Tee box. With this ball I hit the driver extremely straight and will not buy another golf ball. It chips and putts great.

I tried the ultimate Straight but i did not care for the ball flight. I suspect it is better for some swings than others. For me, it just seemed to fall out of the sky. The XD worked so much better for me, i really like this ball.

Distance and flight were like a normal ball, but you feel more confident that the ball will go pretty straight. For now, this is the only ball i use.

I have been playing ERC soft for 2 years now. both models (1st and second generation). The ball is great for mid to low swing speeds. Mine is around 85mph. It goes high and straight if u hit it good.

I have a power fade shot that is pretty consistent with this ball. Approach shots 7 iron down can actually hold the green if u can get the ball in the air which is no problem for me. If u hit low shots it’s gonna run out on you.

not the balls’ fault!!! It has decent spin around the greens but NOT great!! U have to play the roll out and/or control it with trajectory. U must learn this or it will roll out on u big time. This is the only reason I’m not giving it a five star.

But if u can and love hitting greens’ without paying $50 a box for the extra spin. this could be your ball. The putting lines r a plus too if the lines don’t distract u on approach shots. I’m 50 yrs young and a 9 handicap.

This golf ball is noticeably longer than what I have been playing. I played pro v 1 tru feel and noodle neon That said this ones noticeably longer. My longest drive to date is 358 But im avg 285-300 this ball brought my avg up at least 5-10 yards.

The tru feel is similar in distance and feel and the noodle neon is less in distance but great feel on the irons. All and all its a great ball.

Red color is too bright. I could not focus on it to even consider hitting it off the tee.

With my slow club head speed, I need a low compression golf ball to get a little distance back. I can hit these golf balls 150-160 yards in the air and, with a good roll-out, I can get 180-190 yards on my tee shot.

The color orange is easier for me to see as the yellow ones disappear in the dandelions. I also have good luck with the bright green color golf balls.

For a bogey golfer like me this ball is right in the sweet spot as it performs and holds up well. and for those that do find the water or go out-of-bounds the price point is easy to stomach. I find it has a great trajectory and on shorter chip shots doesn’t run out as much as some others I’ve used – but that being said I’m also prone to playing bump and run rather that trying to get it to land where I want.

It has a nice soft feel off the putter too. For the price. it’s definitely worth it.

I bought these for Christmas for my husband. Normally, he uses a different kind. These are his new go-to because he says he played great when he switched over to Q-Star 5.

My wife stumbled upon these balls with a sample pack at a golf tournament and she has played then ever since. I have hit them a few time and they do have a very soft feel to them once again my wife LOVES these balls and will not play anything else.

I know all you guys are thinking, BUT does that mean this is a ladies ball, no they just feel a little to soft for me. If your swing speed is over 105 mph you may not care for these balls if it’s under a 100 mph my bet is you will love them.

By the way my wife plays to a 14 handicap so I trust her opinion on these balls.

I’m always looking for value per dollar. After finding one of these balls in the rough and competently playing it for several holes I came to Dick’s to buy 2 dozen for $35. So it’s now 25 games later and honestly I’m moving on to the Bridgestone e6 ball because it performs better for a little more money.

This Maxfli feels good off the club face from driver to putter better than you’d expect for the price. Nice balance of cover softness to semi-firm compression. And like everyone else says the hot neon orange color is easy to see when you are searching in the tall grass (my favorite feature of this ball).

Alas, the Bridgestone e6 does fly farther off the tee with the driver. The Bridgestone does sound more impressive with its loud CRACK! when struck well. Bridgestone performance is more predictable, don’t really know why.

The Maxfli has a matte finish, the Bridgestone cover is shiny and hard to the fingernail test. I enjoyed the Maxfli, but I’m scoring lower with the Bridgestone.

I found one while on vacation. I had been trying different balls based upon reviews and each one was wrong for me. I used to laugh at the thought of saying that a ball felt soft or hard until one review said that golfers are generally playing too soft of a ball and tried what they recommended.

It felt like a rock! I hated every one and finally lost them all. I went back to my OnCore soft ball. They were ok, great price, but I still was looking hoping to find some soft chromes or something.

Well one day I hit my ball through the fairway and found one of these Maxfli. I loved it! It actually felt soft. I never thought that a senior citizen that wasn’t an great golfer could “feel” a ball.

The ball won’t stop on short chips, but full shots are fine. heck few of mine back up anyway. So it feels great. The color works for me, never liked the idea of a green ball. optic yellow was my thing.

I can’t find anything wrong with this ball except for short chips. heck I shouldn’t have missed the green and probably didn’t deserve a tap in par.

At the time of this writing I’m an 11. 5 handicap and my normal ball is the Titleist AVX. Although I love the AVX, the price is ridiculous. So bad that I usually buy them used. This Maxfli caught my attention after seeing a Rick Shiels review on YouTube.

(A must watch) This ball exceeded my expectations. It’s the straightest ball I’ve ever hit and I’m shocked the USGA deems it legal for tournament play. I know my game and I can instantly tell what a slice swing feels like.

With these I would slice a drive and think, “That’s gone,” only to find the ball in the right rough giving me a clear chance to still hit a G. I. R! The one thing I will say is this is not a soft ball that will drop and stop on a knock down iron shot or put on the brakes on a short chip.

For $20 a dozen that’s not going to happen if you also expect really low spin off the driver and straight tee shots. Let’s be realistic people! Despite this, I did shoot my low round of the season with this ball, 78 from the whites, and at the end of the day that’s all I care about.

My handicap hovers around 24 to 25, and I tend to miss to the right. I played Friday and was happy with all my tee shots. I have played this course six or seven times and one shot sticks out in my mind.

It is a 350 yard hole with two large trees in the middle of the Fairway about 150 to 160 yards out that usually give me trouble. I hit a low screamer that landed about 240 yards out after splitting the trees perfectly.

Will something similar happened next time I play that course? We’ll see. But I have been playing this particular ball off and on over the past two years and have really liked it. I finally settled on it and purchased 6 dozen of them from these guys.

I typically like the 3 layer tour grade balls with either the surlyn or urethane cover. The e6 soft is also 3 layers but with a iomer cover which is a tad harder than the previous two in my opinion, however, the ball does not feel hard on contact.

this ball is long and straight off the tee and when hit on the sweet spot of my club face, with explosive distance. I have found that even with shots that are slightly off the sweet spot or minor mis-hits, this ball does not slice nearly as much as the tour grade balls which tend to spin more.

The results have been impressive and had added about 10 yards to my drives and about 5 yards to my irons. The only downside is that these balls aren’t cheap! meaning that they are almost the same price as the Bridgestone 330’s so if you’re looking to switch balls to save money, this is not a good option.

For beginners, my suggestion is to buy inexpensive 2 layer balls or used golf balls.

I typically play ProV1’s, but decided to try some e6 softs after finding and playing one. I was expecting straighter drives, but also more roll out when hitting the green. I have found this ball to be long and straight with the driver, but have been very surprised by how well it stops on the green.

Full iron shots either stop dead or take one hop. Chips also check up well. The ball is a little more “lively” off the putter than I’m used too, but I’m getting used to that.

I have been an exclusive Wilson ball guy since the FG Tour over 10 years ago. Best kept secret in golf. I was intrigued to see if there seemed to be a difference in feel in terms of the unfinished cover and it seemed to be so.

The ball had great feel off the face, went into the green as it should when playing multi piece uerathane balls. Nice flight with the driver. I haven’t played the finished version of this ball but my current ball is what I was able to buy up when the Duo uerathane was discontinued.

I got 16 holes out of the ball before it was donated to the golf course but really liked it. I chose this over the Staff mostly because it is supposed to be a lower compression and the cost. Sadly, this will not make much headlines as it’s not a Pro V, or Penta.

I played a box of Triad balls, I now understand this ball very well. I have been an AVX customer for several years and was told to try Triad by the pro at Golf Galaxy. I typically draw/hook the ball, the Triad ball cut down on the amount of curvature for my driver and irons.

I would say they offer 95% of the distance of other premium balls, a small concession for the accuracy and short game benefits of Triad. They fly straighter, check very well and best of all, putt like nothing I have ever seen.

I am a very good putter, but this ball has taken my putting to a new level. Now that I have gotten accustomed to Triad, I confidently hole putts from everywhere. I played in a member guest two weeks ago and in one round had only 22 putts.

I didn’t miss anything inside of 15 feet. I highly recommend this ball if you are looking to lower your golf score, it is not the longest ball but it is the best ball to lower your score. My driver swing speed is 93 MPH, I’m 63 with an 8 Hdcp.

I was a diehard Duo Professional ball golfer for years. Absolutely loved the softer feel and distance I got out of that ball. After finding out Wilson was discontinuing that ball, I asked them what it was being replaced with.

Their reply was the Triad. I bought a dozen and instantly noticed these are a much harder feeling ball than the Duo Professional. It felt like I was hitting a Pro V1. That may be great for many people, but if you are the kind of player that like the felt of the Duo Pro, you’re going to need to find another manufacturer to find a 3-piece ball that has a similar feel.

Looks like I will begin the search for a new golf ball, and Wilson will no longer be in my bag. Very disappointing.

I have been using the Volvik VIVID balls for 2 years now and absolutely love them!! I am an average golfer with a ~15 handicap, 270 average drive, and about 100 mph (not fast) swing speed. I have used about every ball out there; ProV1, TPX5, Chrome, Z-Star (played for many years), B330.

This Volvik gives every one of those a run for their money! It has great distance and flies very true. It produces enough spin and bite that you can stop the ball on the green at 200 yds with a 5-iron! The feel off the club is great, let’s you know if you’ve hit it right.

It’s also very soft on the putter. I prefer the green for better visibility, but the color is all about your choice. In my opinion this 3-piece ball is on the same level as those other 5-piece designs for a MUCH better price! If you are trying to improve you game and want a reliable ball but not spend a small fortune, the Volvik is something you should definitely look at!!.

The Volvik Vivid Matte has been one of the balls in my regular rotation for a few years. Definitely one of the straightest balls off my driver and long irons (e. g. , even with mis-hits). Jumps off club faces with a very satisfying “click”.

It doesn’t have a urethane cover so you won’t get the buttery feel that a urethane cover offers. Short irons spin pretty well for a mid-price ball, I don’t have any problems stopping the ball (within 8 feet) on the green from inside 130 yards.

But again, if you are looking to really spin a ball back then a ball with urethane cover will be better. Certainly its one of the most easily tracked/seen balls on the market. Holds up well as long as you stay off the cart paths.

Had used this ball after winning a dozen at a golf tournament. Didn’t think much of it until I noticed a 10-15 yard increase in distance against my 3-times a week golf group. On two holes on a recent round, I actually outdrove these guys by 35 yards.

I was certainly on mechanically, but this ball is a serious contender for game improvement. The matte finish can be a question mark if you regularly use the normal polished ball, but once you’re used to it, it is an outstanding performer.

And, the yellow version is both highly visible and a real point of discussion by those who don’t know about it.

I normally hit my drives around 220 on a decent day and my 7i 130. I bought a box of Wilson 50 Elite today and I honestly played the best round of golf I’ve ever played. I was hitting my drives 245 pr longer with a 272 as my longest.

I also hit my 7i 30 yards longer than normal. The ball flight is awesome as well, it soared through the air and went higher at apex than I normally hit. The ball spin with my wedges were great as well.

I kept all my balls on the green (when they landed there). Definitely my new ball for now on!.

The price was right! Cant wait until the snow melts and the fairways and greens dry up to try these balls. I’ve become a fan of the Wilson Staff line with prior purchases and this is a new lost cost entry.

I used to play the titleist pro v 1 exclusively and these Wilson Staff balls perform close at one third the cost. The ordering and shipping of these balls was fantastic, they were delivered within three days after placing the order.

I will always use Walmart for my golf ball needs from now on.

Received two sleeves of 50-Elites about 10 days ago from an outfit that wanted my opinion of them. I play 6x a week and had been playing Titleist and Callaways for years. Have played 8 rounds with the Elites.

Saw an immediate improvement in my game. This weekend shot the lowest rounds of my life. Just found my new favorite ball!.

A good product. The price is fair. High handicap golfers like myself get zero advantage from high priced golf balls of any brand. ALL golf balls have gone through extensive testing by the golf associations (USGA, PGA) and show equal length regardless of price.

The expensive balls have better spin control which is no advantage to high handicappers. For us this price range is perfect no matter the brand.

Until you stop selling your walking boots and claim they are waterproof when they are anything but waterproof (yes, Gelert boots) you will never get a positive review from me. However, the Slazenger golf balls are good value.

so please show some integrity and carry out a quality check on Geleert boots.

As always with Sports Direct the service is first class. As for the product, I haven’t had the chance to test them out yet. I am sure they will be extremely good value for money being from the Number 1 that is Sports Direct.
