A generator is a machine that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. Generators are used to provide power for electrical devices and machinery.
There are many different types of generators, but the most common type of generator used for off grid living is a portable generator. Portable generators can be used to power a wide variety of electrical devices, including lights, laptops, TVs, and refrigerators.
Portable generators are usually powered by gasoline, diesel, or propane. They can be used to provide power in an emergency situation, or they can be used to power appliances and devices in an off grid living situation.
When choosing a generator for off grid living, it is important to consider the power needs of the devices and appliances that will be powered by the generator. It is also important to consider the size and weight of the generator, as it will need to be transported to the off grid living location.

Need more energy. Easily link up any 2 WEN inverter generators using a WEN Parallel Connection Kit (sold separately) in order to share wattage amongst multiple units.
I bought this Gen about 4 months ago at a very good price. I had wanted the WEN 56235i (2350w) but they were all sold out at the time. I’ve broken it in, changed the oil and have run it under load for about 30 minutes once a month.
It’s lightweight and quiet vs my Westinghouse iGen2500 (larger engine) which is also quiet but slightly louder. Plugging in a Hair Dryer directly to the iGen2500 the power meter reads 1750w when dryer is running on High.
The WEN does not have a power meter but it runs the same Hair Dryer on High without the overload (red) light ever coming on? I bought the Gen(s) for outages at home during Hurricane season not for camping.
Burned significant oil right from the first start. Generator did perform well other than the oil consumption. It was relatively quiet and powered a 1500 watt RV microwave. However, it’s longevity was severely questionable.
I returned it. Thank you to Walmart for the generous return policy.
I bought this generator for camping, but what I use it the most for is when my power goes out. I have my TV and computer on one of those power strips and when the power goes out I plug it in plus one light, so at least I can watch TV and not sit in the dark until the power goes back on.
Very happy I bought it. Runs great and starts very easy. On high idle it’s a little noisy, but whatever. I can deal with it.
The EZ Start dial allows you to safely select gasoline, propane (LPG), or natural gas (NG) as your fuel source, plus a propane/natural gas selector is located on the side panel. Using natural gas, the engine produces 8750 starting watts and 7000 running watts.
A 6-foot propane hose with a built-in regulator is included. To connect this generator to your home’s natural gas source, this generator includes a 25-foot NG hose kit, which includes a female quick connect end, a female flare fitting end and an NPT male adapter.
The electric start includes a battery, plus Cold Start Technology ensures quick cold-weather starts. With a 1. 2-quart oil capacity, this unit has a low oil shut-off sensor and includes engine oil – all you need is fuel! Easily monitor power output and track maintenance intervals with Intelligauge, which allows you to keep track of voltage, frequency, session run time, and total run time to easily monitor output and track maintenance intervals.
This generator has a noise level of 74 dBA from 23 feet, which is a bit louder than a vacuum.

Enjoy clean, quiet power on the go with the WH03042. Everything you need is in the box, including oil, funnel, owners manual, and spark plug wrench.
I have only had this generator for 3 weeks, but so far I am very pleased with the purchase. I purchased this specifically for the electric start feature, and it works great — started right up out of the box without needing to charge the battery which was included.
It is also quieter than I expected it wood be given the wattage. I have only used gasoline as fuel so far, so I cannot comment on the propane option.
Runs 13500 BTU A/C on travel trailer just fine. Pretty quiet, LP gas fuel in 20 pound bbq tank is safe and easy to use. Electric start is a big plus for easy starting. Folding handle makes this 95 pounder fairly easy to roll around.
Have not tried to run it off travel trailer low pressure LP gas outlet yet, not sure if it will work. All in all, good value in this unit. A few minor scratches, all cosmetic, no concern.
I purchased this dual fuel generator for camping and in the event Texans experience Snowmageddon II this winter. The unit is easy to setup, start, and shutdown. It arrived quickly and in excellent condition.

Reviews From Real Customers
I received my yeti 500X on 8/12/2020, I have used my yeti about 3 or 4 times a week. I read about the charge cycles and then spent time at the Battery University regarding the battery used in the Yeti 500X.
The day I received my Yeti 500X I charged it to 100% just like the instructions indicate. Then after it was charged up I used it until it was at 17%, and then I charged it up to 85 to 87%. I have cycled my Yeti 500X over several hundred times at maximum charge 87% and maximum discharge to 17%.
I also don’t fast charge my Yeti 500X, I use a couple of boulder 100 panels to charge up my Yeti 500X. I know there were some software issues when this unit first came out. I waited a while before I purchased my own Yeti 500X.
I am glad to say my Yeti 500X hasn’t had any issues and has been very reliable. There are a few and I mean very few times when I charged my Yeti 500X to 100% due to some upcoming snow storms here in Montana.
I will say I do wish the price point was lower but having said that I still remember what my dad told me ” you get what you pay for” so I will say due to the excellent customer service I have had, I will say the Yeti 500X is worth the money.
I will also say I first purchased the Yeti 200X to see how it would handle heat and cold and being thrown around in a pickup before buying the 500X. The 200X worked fine for almost 2 years and then one of the USB ports quit working, I was about a month away from the 2 year warranty so I called customer service to report the issue.
I had saved my box and after speaking to customer service I followed the instructions and sent my Yeti 200X back to Goal Zero. Soon thereafter I had a new 200X. This isn’t the first time I experienced great customer service from Goal Zero.
I had to recently contact Goal Zero as a new Yeti 1000X I had purchased from Costco for a really great price, wouldn’t even turn on, battery was wasted or so I thought. The guy at Goal Zero customer service gave me some advise as to how to get this dead Yeti 1000X up and running.
I closely followed his instructions and after a few charge and discharge cycles it is working like it should, and so I wish to say to the people at Goal Zero customer service a big THANK YOU. I am truly pleased with my Yeti 500X.
Keep up the good work Goal Zero. Just my thoughts from the banana belt of central Montana.
There are tons of reviews detailing the pros and cons of this unit. What’s difficult to find is real world data that can let you know if this will take the place of an expensive dual battery system. For me it does.
For my use case, I wanted something to act as a buffer, so that I could power a fridge from my Jeep en route and then seamlessly run off battery without risking the ability to start the vehicle. It’s hard to find in GZ literature whether you can charge and power devices at the same time.
You can. I have this plugged into the inverter outlet in my Gladiator’s bed and the fridge plugged into the GZ. When I’m driving the fridge is powered through the GZ and I don’t have to fiddle with anything when I stop to camp.
I do recommend GZ’s 120W fast charger. Every time I move to another spot the GZ has been fully charged upon arrival. The fast charger takes about 4 hours from dead. Testing at home, I was able to power the fridge for about 48 hours.
In the field, when running solely on battery power my ARB Classic II 63 QT can maintain a sub 32 degree internal temperature in 70-85 degree ambient temperature for about 2 overnights, a solid day and until noon the following day (about 40 hours).
So this is about 2 days. This with opening the full fridge to get drinks, prepare meals, etc. This is without any charging or assistance from a solar panel. I’m looking at solar power systems to extend this, but for my style of overlanding, where I like to explore and move around every few days, this unit has so far been perfect.
I’ve also been able to use it to charge a few lanterns while running the fridge. Obviously, other people’s experiences may differ with other ambient temps and other fridges and additional loads. A Geyser systems shower for example will draw 15% of this units battery to heat fully.
So for 2 showers, and the fridge, expect about 1 day/overnight of power. I hope this provides a baseline of what people can expect.
After unboxing the Yeti 500X in spring of 2020 I was excited about using it on long road trips and outdoor adventures. You can charge things many different ways but the bottom line is this is not a good battery.
I would charge our phones and a few other small electronics a couple of times before dying quickly and needing a long recharge. This was certainly not great for a product that was so expensive to begin with but I figured it just wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
I used it a few times a year for longer trips and always made sure it was charged but did not leave it plugged in 24/7. When I plugged it in to charge it before a trip this year in spring 2022, just two years later, it would not charge at all and died for good.
After contacting Goal Zero they simply explained that these batteries need to be plugged in 24/7 or they will die. It was (barely) past the two year warranty and their was nothing they would be willing to do to make up for their poorly designed expensive product.
SERIOUS BUYER BEWARE. Also disappointed with REI for carrying a line of products, that is backed by a company that doesn’t want to make it right with their customers as REI has always made it a point of doing in the past.
Our 9200-watt generator with carburetor-free engine design is built for no-hassle storage. The high-efficiency EFI engine features CO Shield and ensures optimal performance with up to 25% fuel savings and 60% reduction in carbon monoxide emissions.
This unit delivers peace of mind because you know you’ll always be prepared.
All-new control center with a digital multimeter, USB outlets, a front-facing fuel interface, and DuroMax’s exclusive MX2 switch that harnesses the generators full power, by combining the two 19-amp 120-volt circuits into one powerhouse 38-amp circ.
Equipped with DuroMax CO alert technology that will automatically shut down the generator if an unsafe level of carbon monoxide is detected. Built using a powerful 210cc OHV-V DuroMax engine and features all copper windings designed to make your generator last for years.
The fully loaded power panel includes two 120V GFCI household outlets, one 120/240V 30AMP twist-lock outlet. On-board the XP5500HX are individual circuit breakers, an over-sized noise reducing muffler with a built-in spark arrestor, and a low oil sensor.
I purchased this generator on 9/30/22 and received it 10/3/22. I am disappointed to have two quality issues upon installation. One of the handles was bent but not an issue to straighten and install. One of the wheel/hubs was bent and must be replaced.
I submitted an email to the customer service department over the weekend and awaiting a reply. I’ve been on hold 30 minutes thus far attempting to contact Customer Service. Looking for a replacement wheel under warranty.
The damage to the handle and wheel/hub was not a shipping issue. They were both packaged well. Other than these two issues, I like the appearance, assembly was easy, and has the features that I’m looking for.
The representative on the phone was very helpful and awaiting his confirmation of an approved warranty request upon his review of the photos. Despite the quality issues and not having run the generator, I suspect it will meet my expectations.
The first place I called was Acme Tools and they were a disaster. The sales girl didnt know a thing about the generator. I hung up and called your service desk and got a guy named Denzell I think last name was Diamond.
He is a Platinum Diamond. He knew everything!! he told me about the hard start part for the AC, he told me all about the Gas feed I would need for my home, the 50 amp change out from my 30 amp. he was nice and smart.
I purchased from Home Depot because i figured if things went bad they are smart and reputable and it would be easier to deal with. So far its been great. My one suggestion is to make and sell or give away a 3/4 male female quick connect IP thread pattern brass fitting for the gray gas hose.
That way when you move the generator you dont bump the hose against a doorway all the time.
Had it 3 days, still in the box awaiting my natural gas hookup and panel to be installed. Bang! Transformer blew out in the street unexpectedly. I had this unboxed and 3 extension cords ran to my 2 refrigerators and chest freezer within the hour.
Good thing I had some oil on hand. 😉 You buy these never expecting to use them but there you have it. Its a 500cc engine so its as loud as you would expect. I hooked it up to a extra BBQ tank I had in the garage and it fired right up.
Only needed it for 3 hours but it was a good test and it passed with flying colors. At 1/5th the cost of a whole house natural gas generator I couldnt be more pleased.

I am doing a Ford Transit High Roof Van conversion. I bought the Bluetti Power Station with the extra battery because I plan on running a refrigerator, air conditioner, heater and lights. Besides being able to charge from the AC when parked in the Garage, I added Solar Panels to charge while driving.
This takes up little room and I don’t have to worry about powering a gas generator.
hi all just purchased a T400 charger , great to have a second charger, using the two, can charge my Bluetti ac200 max in half the time via the grid & the solar input , also can charge via the 2 points from a petrol Generator.
One of the panels is defective, Tried many attempts to fix the problem but have gotten zero replies. Bluetti’s customer service is non existent. Other solar generator companies are excellent with customer service, NOT Bluetti.
If this problem is not resolved soon, Bluetti will be removed from many purchasing lists.

*This review is for the igen1000s* This thing is AWESOME! I love the design of it. It’s very sturdy and it weighs just over 30 pounds. When I unboxed it, the battery was at 28%, so I let it charge to 100% before testing.
Charging it to a full battery only took around 2 hours. The LCD display shows you how much the battery is charged and how much time you have left until it’s fully charged. The first things I tested were my 60 inch 4K TV and streaming stick.
Once they were plugged in and up and running, the display showed 7 hours of run time. not bad at all considering the size and display of the TV. Next up was my smaller 40 inch 1080p HD TV as well as a streaming stick.
The display showed 27 hours of run time. The last thing I tested was just a basic house lamp, which showed 39 hours of run time. I didnt test my internet because I have that hooked up to UPS, which provides 6 hours of run time.
All in all, this is everything I wanted and I couldn’t be happier. Well worth the money and I highly recommend it!.
Just received yesterday and have read the manual through. Appears to be OK as I am charging it now. Only a couple of things right away to mention. After reading that the unit should always be upright, of course the FEDX people left it upside down at my door so I left it upright in box until today.
Manufacturer should use big Red label arrows or something more eye catching for shippers. So that said, when I went to find the serial number to register it, naturally it was on the bottom so it was necessary to lay it down on it’s side to see it.
Also as I am charging it for the first time the small indicator light still flashes after the screen shuts off. According to the manual that means the unit AC output plugs are still hot. Holding the On/off button does not change that.
I was trying to completely shut the unit off while charging but I guess as long as the charging plug is hooked up it will still flash. The manual is unclear on that. I shall see in a few hours when the unit is completely charged.
I hope it shuts down completely when charged because I had intended to leave it plugged in when stored so it would always be full when needed in a power outage without the unit being on in any way. If there is a way to update everyone on how this works I will let you know.
Outside these issues , the manual is very informative if you will just read it all before trying to use the unit.
I bought this generator several weeks ago. I have tested it by plugging my camper into it to run the refrigerator and it works great! I had no problems adding the oil during the setup and starting it.
I only have experience with one other generator and this one is much quieter. I really love that! My 85-year-old father (who is no stranger to equipment like this) saw the generator running on the driveway and even commented on how quiet it was!) We plan to use this boondocking when the solar panels aren’t getting sun and at home when the power goes out during a storm.

IšverstiShow in original languageThe generator was boxed well. I appreciated (among other things) it comes with No-Flat tires. For the most part assembly went well except the battery was difficult to connect with the provided tools.
The propane regulator that is provided has a QCC Type-1 fitting to connect to the propane tank, I had to purchase a POL to QCC Type-1 adapter to connect to my 100 lb. tanks (for the minimal cost of an adapter I would have thought Duromax could have anticipated the possible need and provided it).
The rubberized dust cap for the Generator’s propane input fitting broke off the very first time I touched it. The User Manual that comes with the Generator is deficient in the full explanation/description of all the functional and operational elements.
The Generator started with the first push of the start button, and it runs very well. I am very happy with my purchase, although my comments may seem minor, they were, to me, what cost them a fifth star.
If I could ask for one additional feature it would be a means to wirelessly monitor the Generator output and load specifics (Volts, Amps, Watts per leg). IšverstiShow in original languageOur DuroMax generator (The XP13000HX) now has 8 hours run time on it and so far so good. We have changed the oil as recommended after the first 6-10 hours and now use synthetic for longer times between changes.
(30 hours as opposed to 20 hours with conventional oil. ) It came with very clear directions for set up. The DuroMax has powered our house for one 6 hour outage so far with no problems. The XP13000HX has a 50A receptacle (14-50R) on the generator that supplies current to the house.
It is pretty heavy (about 242 lbs. ) so keep it accessible for emergencies. Keep the battery charged with a trickle charge between uses for dependability. I would also recommend an outdoor cover in case you need to run it while it’s raining.
What we like: 1. ) Oil pressure shutdown switch. 2. ) Electric start or Recoil start. 3. ) Hour meter to keep track of oil change and use. 4. ) Eight gallon tank with gauge on top. 5. ) Idle control.
So-So: 1. ) Button on multimeter is very tiny and makes it tricky to change modes from voltage, hertz or hours run. Wish it was a little bigger. 🙂 All in all we are very impressed with this generator.
Looking forward to many years of not worrying about power outages.
IšverstiShow in original languageThe DuroMax Duel Fuel XP13000HX generator is a powerful unit that runs quiet. Easy to start on propane and easy to start on gasoline. The build quality of this generator is very high.
I consider it the best available. This unit is used to power a whole house when emergency backup is necessary. It also is used to power construction site lighting and electric tools. This unit is portable / heavy duty / dependable.
The digital multimeter displays output voltage, frequency and hours. The fuel usage is 8 1/2 hours plus on full tank of gasoline and about 6 -7 hours on a 40 pound propane tank. ( 50% power output load) This generator weighs 242 lbs, it is portable using the solid wheels and folding handles.
I like the solid wheels : no flat tire on job site. The CO alert carbon monoxide shutdown feature is a great safety feature. This generator has automatic low oil shutdown. The spark arrestor feature makes this generator great for use in dry foresr areas.
Generator dimensions: 23W x 17D x 22H in. – Polycrystalline, aluminum, and plastic construction – Stand and wheels included3. 2mm anti-reflective, safety glass – Summer and winter positioning for optimum charging – Manufacturer’s limited 1-year warranty.
The Natures Generator 1800W Gold System Solar Powered Generator comes with everything you need to charge the unit and power just about anything in your house. This little generator packs huge power without gas thanks to the 60Ah.
built-in sealed lead acid battery. The included polycrystalline solar panel attaches to the generator with the included 50ft. Cable or charge the unit through the wind input. This unit also includes a heavy duty cart for easy transport where power is needed.
The Nature’s Generator is whisper quiet and gives off no fumes making it perfect for indoor use. Finally, safe, affordable, green back-up power is here. Additional Specifications Solar panel dimensions: 40W x 6D x 30H in.
Finally there is a solar generator I have enough confidence in to purchase! So far, so good. Natures Generator is very easy to set up and use, even for someone like me who has no mechanical skills. A strong selling point is that you can easily add more solar panels and pods if more power is needed.
There is also a small wind turbine available that can be plugged into the generator as a power source. That is exactly what I was looking for: this generator charges with the sun, with wind, and by plugging it in to regular household current.
Then just plug in your small appliances and usb cords. I appreciate the fact that you can check the level of charge and the amount of power being used. Add that the generator is on wheels so it can be moved and it is exactly what I have been looking for!.
Generator arrived the day before fully charged. Hurricane hit, plugged in my fridge and a large freezer and a small chest freezer. Woke up around 8am to my neighbors all cranking up their gas generators.
I did not even make the effort to start my larger gas generator because the Nature’s best was still at 80% plus. Power came back up at 4:30 pm. No sun, still had 40% power left. Unit in my house, didn’t have to worry about theft, CO2 fuel.
Left me get all the wood off my windows, clean up debris. As I add pods I fully expect to get the full storage I need. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO MY FRIENDS AND ANYONE READING THIS. GERRYO.
Thank you Benjamin and Nate for always being there for us. it seems nature’s generator knows how to treat their customers We bought our nature’s generator about a year ago. after the hurricane Erma came through FL about 4 yrs ago.
We had to live with out power for 32 days. so we saved to buy a solar generator. so we would not have to go out and buy gas. We have also been buying battery operated things for our home like a electric lawn mower tree trimmers blowers and a little battery inverters with 5 hour battery.
generator can charge all of the batteries. I am on oxygen I have 2- 5 hour batteries that can be charged from my nature’s generator with in a few hours. I can run my panda washer and dryer on air puff for free energy.
we are also watching tv with Roko & A fan every day on the generator as I charge other things when need. I turn it off when I go to bed and turn it on in the morning and it still has a lot of charge left from the day before.
I know it is mostly for camping but I use it every day to lower my electric bill we are so happy with our platinum nature’s generator it came with the 2 fifty foot cords and the connecters with 3 100 watt panels we did buy another panel.
and hope to add as time goes by. Just wanted to share this with others who might be looking for the same thing. The company has helped me with any question I have had. that gives me comfort to know they are only a phone call away.
I hope my review helps some one out there like us. 😊.
Introducing the largest air-cooled generator on the market – Generac’s 24kW is a big deal in a small package. Generac’s commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and technology is giving us the ability to bring more power to you.
The new 24kW Guardian unit packs the most power into a small package, taking up to 70% less space when compared to similar output products. For the first time, homeowners can receive PWRview, Generac’s home energy management system, which allows generator owners to monitor and manage their home energy usage, leading to a reduction in electric utility bills of up to 20%.
Great having peace of mind thanks to a whole house generator. We rely on well water, and need the furnace to be running in winter in upstate NY. Since installing the generator last fall there’s been several momentary utlity outages lasting less than a minute and generator starts up and lights are back on within 10 seconds.
The transition back to utility power is so seamless that I have to go check if the generator is still running (it’s not). We had a 3-day outage in June after major thunderstorms knocked out power in the area.
Generator did not skip a beat, power in house was rock solid (no flickering lights, no dimming when big load starts up). Only quibble is the wi-fi: the MobileLink app is nice to check status under normal conditions, but when utility power goes down, so does internet service.
Home wi-fi is down when internet service is down, so MobileLink is useless to check generator status, as well as to get informed when utility power comes back on. Generac ought to be providing an LTE modem instead of wi-fi connection to the generator.
That’s why I gave 4 stars to features rather than 5.
I ordered this generator set on a Thursday morning and it arrived the next day around 6 pm! I was shocked it arrived so fast. I’m a career maintenance technician so the installation was a breeze for me.
Did the entire install myself, including running the gas line and the electrical connections. If you have no experience with either, I firmly recommend you get a professional to do those two things. The maintenance on the unit is very easy because Generac has engineered the set for easy access to oil and filter.
The unit comes with clear instructions and a template for mounting on your own slab. My wife is very happy as she won’t have to deal with a portable generator in my absence!.
Only have had it installed a month. So far, so good. I have all the cold weather accessories, but all I’ve talked to say that the breather heater is problematic. I haven’t been able to check this out yet.
I ordered the battery when I ordered the generator because the rep told me it doesn’t come with one. Well, now I have an extra battery I don’t need, because it did come with one. I put heavy in as a con, but I’m bot sure.

Reviews From Real Customers
So I have the 12,00 EH model for about 3 years now does what it’s supposed too do and backup my power up when needed. A few tips on break-in pull plug and drop table spoon of oil in and pull cord a few times so no dry start.
Best to use Marvel Mystery oil and keep it on hand as I will later explain. Ok now on break oil use a non- synthetic four cycle oil run for a hour then change. Next repeat last step but run for two hours with a load on it then change oil agin.
Now use a four cycle synthetic oil, tip stick with four cycle engine oil as they are formulated just for these motors unlike car oil. Amzoil and Honda are the best ones to use. If you are going to use gas, non- ethanol will save your carb in the long run, but if you are using just regular gas before cutting off gas turn cutoff valve to off and run out gas in line and then use drain screw on carb bowel to drain gas out carburetor before storing! On storage mode to keep motor in good shape, over long periods moisture will creep into motors, to stop this from happening, once agin pull plug and drop in a tablespoon of Marvel Mystery oil then pull cord 2-3 times then put plug back in.
I usually fire mine up about once every 45 days. Then pull my plug and add M. M oil to store it with on each time unit is to be stored!.
I received my DuroMax XP13000EH generator in a timely manner and in very good shipping condition. Very easy to assemble the wheels, handles and rear stand supports. After connection of the battery and adding the oil, I used a propane tank to initially start it up.
After second cranking cycle it started up and ran great, allowing it to run with no load for about 1 hour on LP. I then did use the 50amp 240v rec. and plugged into my house panel and simulated a power outage and put a load onto the generator while running on the LP, it ran great.
By turning off breakers and load sheading unwanted loads (2- heat pumps, water heater, stove, washer, dryer) I was able to run a well pump, 2 refrigerators, upright freezer, wood stove blower, all lights (mostly LED) and still had some room left over for other small items.
I did this for about 2 hours on a 20lb LP tank and about 1 hour on gas and had no problems. The biggest decision behind this model was the capability of being able to use LP versus gasoline but then having the ability of 2 sources, and all the loads that I needed to keep energized in the event of a long power outage.
I love my XP13000EH generator. I only use it with propane but it has no problem running my entire 1850 square foot home. I had an electrician handle the correct installation & installed several CO2 alarms just to be on safe side.
The generator starts up every time with no issues. I will admit I have not turned on every appliance to see how it did. Having the refrigerator/freezer, ac, coffee pot, stove, microwave, television, and lights is more than enough plus hot water.
Laundry can wait in my book to when the power returns. I sleep comfortably knowing this generator is in my garage. The noise level is not bad. I usually have enough juice for my neighbor to run a 115 extension cord to their house.
And the 3 year warranty makes it even a better deal. I am now looking to buy the 15000 in addition to the one I have as an upgrade and keeping the 13000 as a back up or to loan to a neighbor in case of a storm.
One of the largest digital inverters available on the market, the XP9000iH is excellent for emergency home backup or power on the jobsite. Use clean power to operate your television, laptops, and other sensitive electronics.
This inverter comes with a digital control center so you can monitor power output, load level, and running hours at a glance. Double your power by connecting a second XP9000iH with a parallel kit (sold separately).
After reading the reviews for several brands of Inverter Generators I was impressed with the DuroMax XP9000iH Dual Fuel Inverter Generator and purchased one as a home backup system (Note that the Inverter types are cleaner even though a little more expensive).
The generator was delivered timely, and was fully assembled. I followed the “Generator Setup” guide in the manual, which was easy to follow. I just had to connect the negative battery cable, add oil, gas, connect the propane bottle, and attach a copper ground wire/rod which I purchased separately online, and which came with an attached No.
12 AWG stranded copper wire. I was able to have it started and running in a few minutes simply by pushing the start button. I was surprised, being a non-technical person, how easy it was to get the generator started and running.
The noise level of the generator is very low. I also purchased online a 30 amp 4-Prong Twist-Lock 10 gauge 50 ft extension cord that splits into four surge protected 120 volt outlets and tested it on our freezer, fan, coffee machine, and lamps.
The power supply was great! I tested using both gasoline and propane (I used my gas grill propane bottle). I’ll get some more extension cords later for the two additional GFCI 120 volt outlets on the generator.
I’m going to eventually get a transfer switch installed in my home so that I can use the ATS Plug that’s on the generator, and connect directly to the house. I also like the fact that the generator has a Carbon Monoxide (CO) alert system which shuts down the generator if it detects a CO build up.
Just remember when using or testing your generator to keep it outside, and away from doors and windows. With my new DuroMax XP9000iH inverter generator, I now feel prepared for the Hurricane Season which begins in a few weeks on June 1st.
I would recommend this inverter generator to anyone in the market for one.
Received this today and was prepping for a test start tomorrow. Let me start by saying my findings are not a big deal, it just caused unnecessary hassle. The “tool kit” was missing the smaller spanner which I assume fit the battery terminal nut so I had to dig thru my metric sockets to find the right one to connect the negative cable.
The provided screwdriver is also useless (too long) at least for tightening the terminal screw. Maybe it will have another use–we’ll see. There was no metric socket provided for the cover screws so that was another dig thru my sockets to find the right one.
I can’t really ding for this since it doesn’t look like it was intended to be provided in the tool kit anyway but it should be. I also noted that the S/N on the box doesn’t match the stamped S/N on the engine.
For warranty purposes, I provided the number stamped on the engine–hope that was the correct one to provide! Looking forward to cranking it up tomorrow using propane. I should also mention that a fishing buddy of mine recently bought this same model and he loves it–quiet and plenty of power.
I purchased a DuroMax 9000iH as a backup to our entire home if/when we loose power. The unit is a large self contained unit – by this I mean it is somewhat enclosed (I assume I needn’t worry about rain or snow when in operation).
I have a 50 ft run of 8AWG cable from the generator to the house transfer switch. The output of the transfer switch is distributed among 10 loads. The two 240 VAC loads (water heater & geothermal heating) cannot be switch onto the generator at the same time.
The generator is easy to start, just turn off the breakers, turn on the LP at the bottle and push the start button once. The generator will try to start, fails, waits a few seconds and starts again (it has always started after the second attempt).
Then switch the breakers on and switch the low idle to on. It is quite – I had been told that gas generators were extremely noisy – not true for this unit. I checked the shape of the voltage output with an oscilloscope, founded it to be a true sin wave 60 Hz output – very clean (no spikes).
I haven’t checked it when under heavy load. Initially I had a problem with the CO sensor, but DuroMax sent me a replacement and all is OK.
Champion 100110 9200 Watt Generator The Champion 9200 Watt Generator with electric start is an excellent option for power during outages, at remote work sites, or anywhere you need electric power. The Champion rates the 100110 for 11,500 starting watts (max watts) and 9200 running watts.

Up to 10 hours run time on a tank of gas and just 74 dBA of noise—compare to the average vacuum cleaner. Powered by a Champion 459cc OHV Engine. An Intelligauge digital monitor displays voltage, frequency, and operating hours.
Great for Backup Power during an outage or multiple tools on a jobsite. Weekend power at a remote cabin, outdoor events and large gatherings.
Power up to 13 electronic devices at once with the EcoFlow Delta 1300 Power Station. This portable generator packs a massive 1260Wh of energy storage capacity, giving you plenty of backup power for your home or portable power for camping.
Weighing in at just over 30 pounds, the EcoFlow Delta 1300 is a lightweight but powerful option for trailer or RV camping. This battery-powered generator has an output of 1800W, matching the standard of any wall outlet.
The generator is compatible with a wide range of electronics, from phones and handheld devices to most home appliances. Recharge the EcoFlow portable power station via solar panel, electrical outlet, or a 12/24V carport.
Whether you are enjoying some time in the great outdoors or need some backup power, this battery-powered portable generator is sure to help provide all the comforts of home.
I have been researching power stations for the last year or so. The rapid charging capability of the Ecoflow brand is what sold me on this unit. Initially I charged it by plugging it into a wall outlet and the advertised rapid charging held up.
My second time charging it, I used an Ecoflow 160W solar panel. While two panels would provide the optimal solar charging experience, I was very pleased with how well one panel worked. In less than three hours the battery went from 57% full to 100% full.
I purchased this to primarily power my husband’s C-PAP when we camp. However, it also gives me peace of mind to have it on hand for any power outages. We decided to test the Delta Mini at home before using it in a camping situation.
The first night my husband operated his C-PAP with the heated humidifier going. In that setting he could easily get two full nights out of one charge on the Delta Mini. The next night he turned the humidifier off and based on power consumption could easily get three nights of usage off of one charge.
We are very satisfied with how well this will suit our needs. We also expect to get some usage out of this tailgating or doing other outside activities where having a power outlet will come in handy.
This will easily power a blender, electric cooking appliance, musical devices and any other entertainment necessities. The unit isn’t excessively heavy and the handles on both sides make it fairly easy to carry.
If you buy one of Ecoflow’s solar panels they are also easy to transport. The panel is well constructed and feels more substantial than some other foldable panels I have seen. I highly recommend the Delta Mini for the average person’s power station needs.
I have watched this closely from the original kickstarter concept to retail execution. I now own three of these units and three extra batteries. They’re pretty close to being the perfect power station on the market.
Here are some highlights: The inverter is absolutely top notch. This thing will take your heavy loads from your home, RV, van or outdoor lifestyle and power them without breaking a sweat. The unit is rated for 3600W continuous but I’ve found that I can exceed that by a fair bit for a few minutes before it shuts down.
You can pair two of them with their double voltage hub accessory and connect to your home transfer switch. You can run split phase 240V loads like well pumps, electric dryers, or even smaller central air conditioners (with a soft start kit).
The best part is that you can keep this inside away from the rain, snow, high winds or potential theft and there are no fumes, no fuel and little noise. You can charge this up, often for free, at a level 2 EV charge station.
These are the Chargepoint or similar stations. The cost is like a few bucks for a full charge or free in some cases. You can connect your own solar panels (SOLAR PANELS ARE NOT INCLUDED) any brand and charge up the units with free electricity from the sun.
The battery is Lithium Iron Phosphate which even if you use it every single day will last more than 10 years. You can control the unit from an app on your iPhone or android. Unlike some competitors – these are confirmed safety certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory.
This is an absolute game changer for home backup, RV or van life. Ecoflow has won so many awards and accolades for this unit. There are a few things that they could improve on, such as stability of the app.
Heavy duty battery, high quality that can be recharged with solar panels (extra, not included) to provide days long power for essentials like a refrigerator and/or freezer and a couple of lamps if you lose power due to a Russian cyber attack on the electric grid or affected by a nuclear strike not directly on you.
I did all the research of competing products available and for something thats portable and relatively affordable this is the best product for you to give much needed peace of mind. It was a Time magazine 100 top invention of last year, so that should give you the confidence.
To charge with sun you will need to do some research and spend an approximate additional $1,000 for solar panels, cords, connectors and stands to produce 800W to 1200W for expedited solar charging. YouTube has videos on how to hook everything up.
Myself I bought HQST 100 watt panels to mount on vertical poles that can be manually rotated throughout the day to follow the sun for maximum charging experience. Don’t let World War III catch you off guard with no power, no lights and rotting food in your refrigerator.
Eating canned food by candlelight is poor way of life. Your neighbors will envy your home with lights and they have none but be careful they may want to visit and take what you have. You will need to make preparations for this too.
The PREDATOR 1800 Max Starting Watt, 1400 Running Watt Gas Powered Portable Generator is built with convenience and safety in mind. Powered by a reliable 98cc PREDATOR gas engine, this generator is compact, lightweight, and provides power wherever it’s needed.
Features integrated volt meter for easily monitoring output. Includes (2) 120v 20A outlets, (1) 12v DC outlet.
This is the first generator I have owned. I bought it during a wind storm that knocked our power out for a couple days to keep the fridge going. Plugged in the fridge, entertainment center and wifi router and it ran them all without issue.
In the morning unplugged the fridge and it made my coffee but it did sound labored when the coffee maker was running. The generator is louder than I would have expected. The neighbors sent me a nasty message about it being so loud, but I think they were jealous they didn’t have one.
Will use in the future for camping etc and it will be much better than using the car battery to charge phones and the like. Setup was easy – added gas and oil and it literally started on the first pull.
One tank of fuel would likely last maybe 12 hours with the load I had on it.
This generator has the CO sensor on it so it WILL NOT RUN!! Runs for 30 seconds then dies almost every time. CO sensor light blinks and it shuts off. It is on the open deck of a sailboat in the middle of the Intracoastal waterway with a breeze and will not work.
When they figure this technology out it may be good but not now!! And why do I have to pay for a new sensor if it’s not very old. Got this as a backup so it didn’t get used for 6 months so it was out of store warranty before I used it.
It’s very powerful. Last night we used it the first time! Power outage on Sunday night at 2 am. Work next morning at 6? No problem. Took it out onto the back porch, cranked it up. Ran an extension cord to a protected power bank outlet.
Ran tv, internet, another tv with an 8-camera system, plus an alarm clock and an air conditioner! Comfy the rest of the night. May have used a half a tank of gas. Excellent product! Kind of loud but hey it’s a generator! Has more than enough safetys on it! It shut off after about 5 mins the first time because of carbon monoxide levels.
my fault however! I had it on a closed front porch/ cold entry.

Compact construction combined with the noiseless lithium-ion battery makes this ideal for camping, road trips, tailgating, or festivals where you need easy portable power. Explorer 880 can also be used for home emergencies when suffering from power outages caused by storms, blizzards, storms.
Compared to an ebike battery pack it comes out very near the same price. I was not happy with the price of this battery pack until I compared it to an ebike battery pack and did the math. I guess this pack is a good value but there are same priced quiet generators that surpass this items rated output and it will continuously provide power with more fuel.
So do your homework and choose what is more practical for your application.
Instructions state that battery can be charged while using it, but it will affect battery life. Still with solar panels it is a great battery. I purchased it for a scheduled power blackout to keep my refrigerator running.
The battery was at 39% when first opened. The Jackery 1500 was able to run for the two hours I needed before power was restored.
Have had rolling blackouts this summer. Wanted something to cover our refrigerator & basement freezer. Very pleased with unit. Depending on “draw,” will cover both for 2-50 hours. Recharges beautifully using two briefcase Solar panel units.
If you are considering a generator for off grid living, there are a few things you should take into account. First, you will need to determine what type of generator you need. There are three main types of generators: standby, portable, and inverter.
Standby generators are the most expensive and are typically used as a backup power source for homes and businesses. Portable generators are less expensive and can be used for camping, tailgating, or as a backup power source for small appliances.
Inverter generators are the most efficient and are typically used for powering sensitive electronics like laptops and cell phones.
Once you have determined what type of generator you need, you will need to determine the size. The size of the generator is measured in watts and you will need to determine the wattage of the appliances and devices you want to power.
A good rule of thumb is to choose a generator that is twice the wattage of the devices you want to power.
Finally, you will need to decide on a fuel source. The most common fuel sources for generators are gasoline, propane, and natural gas. Each has its own set of pros and cons, so be sure to do your research before making a decision.
In conclusion, a generator can be a great addition to an off grid living setup. Just be sure to do your research and choose the right size and fuel source for your needs.
