As the best book for case interview preparation will vary depending on the individual’s learning style and preferences. However, some popular books that are often recommended for case interview preparation include “Case in Point” by Marc Cosentino, “Cracking the Case Interview” by Victor Cheng, and “Landing Your First Job Out of College” by Laura DeCarlo.
#1 New York Times Bestseller “Significant. The book is both instructive and surprisingly moving. ” —The New York Times Ray Dalio, one of the world’s most successful investors and entrepreneurs, shares the unconventional principles that he’s developed, refined, and used over the past forty years to create unique results in both life and business—and which any person or organization can adopt to help achieve their goals.
In 1975, Ray Dalio founded an investment firm, Bridgewater Associates, out of his two-bedroom apartment in New York City. Forty years later, Bridgewater has made more money for its clients than any other hedge fund in history and grown into the fifth most important private company in the United States, according to Fortune magazine.
Dalio himself has been named to Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Along the way, Dalio discovered a set of unique principles that have led to Bridgewater’s exceptionally effective culture, which he describes as “an idea meritocracy that strives to achieve meaningful work and meaningful relationships through radical transparency.
” It is these principles, and not anything special about Dalio—who grew up an ordinary kid in a middle-class Long Island neighborhood—that he believes are the reason behind his success. In Principles, Dalio shares what he’s learned over the course of his remarkable career.
He argues that life, management, economics, and investing can all be systemized into rules and understood like machines. The book’s hundreds of practical lessons, which are built around his cornerstones of “radical truth” and “radical transparency,” include Dalio laying out the most effective ways for individuals and organizations to make decisions, approach challenges, and build strong teams.
He also describes the innovative tools the firm uses to bring an idea meritocracy to life, such as creating “baseball cards” for all employees that distill their strengths and weaknesses, and employing computerized decision-making systems to make believability-weighted decisions.
While the book brims with novel ideas for organizations and institutions, Principles also offers a clear, straightforward approach to decision-making that Dalio believes anyone can apply, no matter what they’re seeking to achieve.
Here, from a man who has been called both “the Steve Jobs of investing” and “the philosopher king of the financial universe” (CIO magazine), is a rare opportunity to gain proven advice unlike anything you’ll find in the conventional business press.
This workbook is perfect for additional students using the Foundations in Personal Finance High school Edition, New Edition Kit, which includes the DVD curriculum with the required primary content for this course.
Each student using the sold-separately kit will need their own workbook. This comprehensive, 288-page consumable workbook features four units with three chapters each. Learning objectives, key terms, fill-in-the-blank outlines, journal questions, quizzes, and other features are provided.
I am very happy to have purchased this curriculum program for my son’s personal finance class. There are only minor issues that I feel compelled to mention in this review. The positives: I’ve been watching the videos with him and while it isn’t super current, it isn’t terribly out of date or old looking.
I appreciate the workbook and how it forces him to be engaged and follow along. The content is good and the lessons are short and easy to digest. We binge watch a whole chapter together once a week, so maybe even a little too short and easy.
The student interviews are a nice touch. The negatives: The disks arrived in a timely fashion but the case was broken and a couple DVDs were loose inside the case. One thing that has really bothered me is how loud the music is compared to the talking.
It is actually the most bothersome thing about this curriculum. I wish I had a parent answer key so I could quickly check my son’s work. For the most part, it is common sense and easy since I’m watching along with him.
However, an answer key would help for the one question I had no idea what they were looking for as well as speed in grading his work. We just finished chapter three and I didn’t really feel like the amount of time spent on debt and financial struggles in marriage was relevant to my 17 year old son.
Sure, it might help him in the future but it felt like too much time devoted to a topic irrelevant to a teenager’s life. I thought it would be good to warn teens about the dangers of debt/nsf fees, etc.
, but more important to show them what they should be doing to be successful. We are only three chapters in so I can’t say too much more about the content. I am happy to be giving this knowledge to my children and appreciate the videos!.
My high school daughter is taking this course, and I am sitting in on the videos. I did not expect it to be so engaging. The course says things that hit home for me and I think “Ugh, I do that. ”, and I’m not gonna lie I cringe a little at myself.
Then you say things that make me open up from my recoiled state, and you teach how to make it better. Lastly, you say things that strengthen me to want to do what you say. Notice I said in the beginning this course is for my daughter – LOL.
I am enjoying and learning. My daughter is really understanding what you are teaching. She is doing the work in the book, and she has told me she knows what kind of spender she is and is making her budget.
She is asking me to help her get an account. I could go on and on. I would highly recommend this course to everyone. Thanks for being honest about yourself – for me, that makes me listen, because you’ve been there!.
We are enjoying our teaching of Foundations in Personal Finance. It goes right along with the teachings we learned a few years ago while attending Financial Peace University. Our children are hopefully going to be more savvy with there money than we have been.
The only kink we’ve found in this program is accessing the teacher’s tools as they are only on the CDs and not available online for reviewing or printing. Most laptops nowadays don’t have a cd drive, so offering an online link option to all the content would be very helpful! Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.
We love Dave and how he shares his downfalls in such a positive manner to help those who are in debt, to get out of debt! It’s all about the baby steps!.
You Can Believe Because of the Evidence, Not in Spite of It. “My friend Jim Wallace was an angry atheist for 35 years until he walked through the doors of Saddleback Church. There his life was radically changed by Jesus.
Today, Jim is one of the most thoughtful and winsome apologists for the Gospel I know. Cold Case Christianity is literally packed with insights to share with the skeptics in your life and this book will give you the confidence to share it!” Dr.
Rick Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life and pastor of Saddleback Church For the first thirty-five years of his life, J. Warner Wallace was a devout atheist. After all, how can you believe a claim made about an event in the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence? Then Wallace realized something.
Christianity was a lot like the cold cases he solved as a homicide detective–cold cases that turned out to have enough evidence, eyewitnesses, and records to solve. When Wallace applied his skills as an expert detective to the assertions of the New Testament, he came to a startling realization: the case for Christianity was as convincing as any case he’d ever worked as a detective.
J Warner Wallace is a retired homicide detective with decades of experience working cold cases, i. e. , unsolved cases in which the murder occurred long ago and with few or no living eyewitnesses. He creates a circumstantial case for Christianity by showing that: 1.
The Gospels and other New Testament books were written relatively early and close to the alleged event of the Resurrection. 2. Many of the events recorded in the New Testament are corroborated by archaeology and secular first-century writers.
3. The claims made about Jesus didn’t change over time and were accurately preserved. 4. The apostles had no motivate for lying, such as financial gain, sexual lust, etc. Wallace methodically examines alternative explanations for Christianity (such as a conspiracy, mass hallucination, an impostor fooled the apostles, Jesus didn’t really die, etc.
) and explains in detail why they’re unreasonable. Wallace is thoroughly honest and admits every explanation for the rise of Christianity has strengths and weaknesses. He argues that a supernatural Resurrection is the simplest explanation but has one major drawback – it requires belief in the supernatural.
We should not, however, presuppose that supernatural miracles are impossible prior to investigation, since this presupposition will bias our investigation of the evidence. Determining if a supernatural event even occurred is the very thing we are investigating, we cannot assume this is impossible prior to investigation.
I purchased this book to gain additional insights into the reliability of the Scriptures. I have always been intrigued by the detective shows that I see on TV and how crimes are processed (most within an hour!).
Reading this book has helped me understand how the logical progression of evaluating clues from a detective’s perspective can unearth new evidence to explain a situation. When Mr. Wallace approaches applying these detective principles to the New Testament in the second half of the book, it is amazing how so much of the evidence explains how the pieces of the gospel fall into place.
Questions that I had wondered about in some of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) concerning what appeared to be “holes” in the story were answered by Mr. Wallace’s explanation. I had read Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell years ago and Mr.
Wallace’s up-to-date Cold-Case Christianity provides further proof of the reliability of the Bible. Congratulations, Mr. Wallace, on a Job Well Done!!.
This is an excellent book with lots of practical reasoning. A warning to those who struggle with violence: Some of the examples he gives are of crime scenes he’s worked on, and although they aren’t gruesome, they are stories of violent crimes with some detail.
(My wife is a victim of abuse and asault from her past and is not able to handle some of the content in the stories. ) I find the examples incredibly helpful and had no problems with them. If I had to rate them like a movie, I’d rate them PG-13.

The scene is set in Cambridge, with three case histories from the past: A young child who mysteriously disappeared from a tent in her back garden; An unidentified man in a yellow jumper who marched into an office and slashed a young girl through the throat; and a young woman found by the police sitting in her kitchen next to the body of her husband, an axe buried in his head.
Jackson Brodie, a private investigator and former police detective, is quietly contemplating life as a divorced father when he is flung into the midst of these resurrected old crimes. Julia and Amelia Land, long having given up hope of uncovering the truth of what happened to their baby sister, Olivia, suddenly discover her lost toy mouse in the study of their recently-deceased father.
Enlisting Jackson’s help they embroil him in the complexities of their own jealousies, obsessions and lust. A woman named Shirley needs Jackson to help find her lost niece. Amidst the incessant demands of the Land sisters, Jackson meets solicitor Theo Wyre whose daughter, Laura, was murdered in his office and, now that the police case has been closed, is desperate for Jackson to help him lay Laura’s ghost to rest.
As he starts his investigations Jackson has the sinister feeling that someone is following him. As he begins to unearth secrets that have remained hidden for many years, he is assailed by his former wife’s plan to take his young daughter away to live in New Zealand, and his stalker becomes increasingly malevolent and dangerous.
In digging into the past Jackson seems to have unwittingly threatened his own future.
The case histories themselves were fascinating and I liked how she brought them all together. But at times I found the story meandering and I looked forward to the action moving on. The Jackson Brodie character is good and I look forward to seeing further development of him as I read her later stories.

Book literally fell apart the moment I tried to open it. It seems like a new book, but the book glue is obviously not strong enough to hold all the pages together. Im not sure if a replacement or refund is possible, but Ill keep this loose leaf version for now.

After thirty years, Case Closed finally succeeds where hundreds of other books and investigations have failed – it resolves the greatest murder mystery of our time, the assassination of JFK. Based upon explosive new interviews, secret files, and the latest scientific and computer enhancements of film and evidence, Case Closed not only uncovers where the Warren Commission erred but also demolishes the leading conspiracy theories, putting to rest once and for all speculation about involvement of the CIA, FBI, and the mafia, and the supposed links between Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby.
Case Closed answers all lingering questions about the assassination. Some of the book’s revelations include: the inside story of Oswald’s defection to Russia, told for the first time by the KGB agent who handled his case; new details about Oswald’s attempt to kill Army General Edwin Walker, and how he was shadowing Walker when Kennedy arrived in Dallas; and how the latest computer enhancements of the Zapruder film determine the number and precise timing of the shots fired in Dealey Plaza.
As historian Stephen Ambrose has written, “Mr. Posner’s chapter on the single bullet is a tour de force, absolutely brilliant, absolutely convincing”. At the heart of this mesmerizing reinvestigation of the case is the first in-depth portrait of Lee Harvey Oswald’s tortured life.
Drawing on new and intimate interviews with Oswald’s wife and friends as well as startling details from his classified KGB file, Posner unmasks the enigma that is Oswald. No less fascinating is his profile of Jack Ruby, which includes the most complete presentation ever of his actions over the assassination weekend.
Case Closed cuts through threedecades of misinformation and distortions by examining all the evidence to make sense of what really happened. This ground-breaking book presents an absorbing story that finally leads us back to the truth behind one of the nation’s most enduring and painful mysteries.
Posner weaves a narrative that restores the human drama to one of the watershed events in American history, and in the process answers the riddle of how and why Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK.
Gerold Posner has spent years researching the life of LHO. Based on factual evidence with clear rational logical sense, he proves unequivocally without a doubt Lee Harvey Oswald was an unstable sociopath with traits of schizophrenia, who hated the American system of government.
Oswald was unstable- therefore his life was unstable and didnt work. when he took aim at JFK in the motorcade, he was attacking American government. Case Closed by Gerold Posner along with Reclaiming History by Vincent Bugliosi, Easily destroys conspiracy theories backed with factual citations.
This book is the best that has been written about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The Warren Commission Report was rushed into premature publication by Lyndon Johnson ( one of his many disservices to the nation ) before it was really complete, In the words of Gerald Posner, “it always stopped short of being through”.
Lyndon Johnson did not believe in its conclusion either. Problems with the Warren Commission Report abound, and Posner deals with them methodically. The worst, from my point of view, was the “pristine bullet”.
No way could a bullet do all that damage through multiple entries and look so factory fresh. But Posner shows that the bullet, when looked at from the end, doesn’t look so pristine at all. In fact it has been flattened as if it was put in a drop hammer.
That bullet has been subjected to some severe stress. The next good point of Posner’s concerns: Jack Ruby, the supposed hit man, of so many theories, whose job was to kill and silence Oswald. If Oswald had been moved when it had been announced that he would, Jack Ruby wouldn’t have been there.
At that time he was sending a telegram ( very pre-information age ). If he had been on assignment to bump off Oswald he would’ve been there on time. One would think. Also, if Oswald had been either controlled,or handled by a vast super professional conspiracy, they wouldn’t have let him take a pot shot at General Walker, something which would have been a pointless risk to the crime of the century.
Finally, the Zapruder film looks like Kennedy is being shot from the front, but what we are actually seeing is his head being jerked back, in equal and opposite manner, from the force of the exit would as the bullet explodes its way out of his head.
The entrance wound is small as the force is concentrated on a very small part of the skull, all the force is concentrated on displacing a very small amount of bone structure, and moved the head very little, The difference between an entry and an exit wound is very obvious, as any hunter will know.
The autopsy confirmed that the entry wound was in the back of the head. If all the people who thought they heard or saw a shot actually did, then the Presidential Limo would have looked like Bonnie and Clyde’s death car.
I mention in passing. This a good book. Very soon after the Warren Commission Report, alternative explanations and conjectures began to appear. Back then it seemed to me that the people who wrote them were mostly concerned with figuring out the truth.
Now they seem to be less innocently concerned with servicing a market of crackpots and kooks, the original one of which was “potty-time” Lyndon himself, who spoiled the Warren Commission Report.
The book was written in 1993, before modern forensics. Posner has also been in trouble multiple times for plagiarism issues, which doesn’t help his credibility. The book is good for compare and contrast, but the book again is out of date.
Posner also doesn’t have a forensics background and also seems to not understand gun mechanics, which are incredibly important elements in understand something of this nature.
The book consists primarily of interviews between Strobel (a former legal editor at the Chicago Tribune) and biblical scholars such as Bruce Metzger. Each interview is based on a simple question, concerning historical evidence (for example, “Can the Biographies of Jesus Be Trusted?”), scientific evidence, (“Does Archaeology Confirm or Contradict Jesus’ Biographies?”), and “psychiatric evidence” (“Was Jesus Crazy When He Claimed to Be the Son of God?”).
Together, these interviews compose a case brief defending Jesus’ divinity, and urging readers to reach a verdict of their own.
The Case for Christ uses scripture and commentary to explore the existence of Christ and how to prove it to oneself or others. The author uses theologically sound arguments based on a series of questions listed below: Questions raised: Can the biographies of Jesus be trusted?Do the biographies of Jesus stand up to scrutiny? Were Jesus’ biographies reliably preserved for us?Is there credible evidence for Jesus outside his biographies?Does archaeology confirm or contradict Jesus’ biographies? Is the Jesus of history the same as the Jesus of faith? Was Jesus really convinced that he was the son of God?Did Jesus fulfill the attributes of Gof?Did Jesus-And Jesus alone-Match the identity of the Messiah? Was Jesus’ death a sham and his resurrection a hoax? Was Jesus’ body really absent from his tomb? Was Jesus seen alive after his death on the cross? Are there any supporting facts that point to the resurrection? What does the evidence establish–and what does it mean today? In reading reviews of this book, I noticed that many who are non-believers did not feel that it convinced them of Christ’s existence.
They felt the book was only useful to Christians. I personally feel that this book would be a helpful tool for Christians to study for the purposes of witnessing to non-believers. Expecting non-believers to voluntarily pick up this book to read it is likely unrealistic if they simply do not care to know as many did state was the case for them.
I give this book a 5-star rating and recommend it for seekers and for believers as tool to study or to witness. I received a copy of this book from netgalley. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
A hard-nosed Legal investigator goes after the Truth about that carpenter from Nazareth who is still causing soo much controversy. He separates facts from fiction and explores every aspect and every angle.
Are the ‘witnesses’ from the New Testament reliable or is it all myths and legends. If you want to look at the ‘whole Jesus thing’ without any religious hype, this is the book for you. It is well researched and there are tons of footnotes and references that you can explore on your own.
For those who may have any doubts about Jesus Christ and who He claimed to be. This book will make you think twice about the opinion you may have about the Son of God. You want some fact’s? Please read it for yourself.
Discover the astonishing evidence for intelligent design in this New York Times bestselling book by award-winning journalist Lee Strobel. – My road to atheism was paved by science. but, ironically, so was my later journey to God, Strobel says.
– During his academic years, Lee Strobel became convinced that God was obsolete, a belief that colored his journalism career. Science had made the idea of a Creator irrelevant–or so Strobel thought.
– But today science points in a different direction. A diverse and impressive body of research has increasingly supported the conclusion that the universe was intelligently designed. At the same time, Darwinism has faltered in the face of concrete facts and hard reason.
Has science discovered God? At the very least, it’s giving faith an immense boost, as new findings emerge about the incredible complexity of our universe. – Join Strobel as he reexamines the theories that once led him away from God.
Through his compelling and highly readable account, you’ll encounter the mind-stretching discoveries from cosmology, cellular biology, DNA research, astronomy, physics, and human consciousness that present compelling evidence in The Case for a Creator.
– Also available: The Case for a Creator small group video study and study guide, Spanish edition, kids’ edition, student edition, and more.
I really liked The Case for Christ, so I was looking forward to reading The Case for a Creator. I am disappointed, not in the product, but in the author. It could be because it was written in 2004, but Mr.
Strobel makes a better case for Intelligent Design. He apparently accepted the Big Bang, millions of years, and continuing star formation. Those ideas are not part of Biblical Creation as written in Genesis.
If you are looking for a compromise between evolution and the Bible, this might be the book for you. It wasn’t the right one for me.
Lee Strobel researches his books so well. I found this one especially interest group and compelling because of the science/ religious debates I would highly recommend reading this book Well worth 5 stars.

Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God? Skeptics dismiss the Jesus of the Gospels by claiming there is no evidence in the case for Christ. Lee Strobel disagrees. The former legal journalist and one-time atheist knows how to ask tough questions.
His own search for truth about Jesus led him to faith in Christ. Now Strobel invites you and your group to investigate the truth about Jesus Christ leading to the facts that guided Strobel from atheism to faith in Christ.
In this revised six-session video study, participants will journey along with Strobel on a quest for the truth about Jesus. Rejecting easy answers, you will sift through fascinating historical evidence as you weigh compelling expert testimony.
In the end, groups may very well see Jesus in a new way and even, like Strobel, find their life transformed. Pastors, small group leaders, and individuals will find compelling answers for their questions about Jesus in this revised study guide, to be used in coordination with The Case for Christ Revised: A DVD Study (sold separately).
The six sessions include: The Investigation of a Lifetime Eyewitness Evidence Evidence Outside the Bible Analyzing Jesus Evidence for the Resurrection Reaching Your Verdict.
There are a few different ways to conclude your book for case interview prep. One way is to have a short summary of each chapter, followed by a conclusion that ties everything together. Another way is to have a conclusion that focuses on the main points that you want the reader to remember.
Finally, you can end with a call to action, encouraging the reader to take what they’ve learned and apply it to their own case interview prep.
