20 Best Blow Dryers For Hair Stylists (2022 Updated)

Am I the only person to have paid for this? I purchased it from T3 because it was dual voltage and I was traveling to Europe and wouldn’t be able to use my Dyson (because they are not dual voltage). I used it once before traveling and hated it in less than 60 seconds.

It has very little power and took forever to dry my long, fine hair that typically takes 10 mins with a Dyson and 15-20 with another salon-quality/high-end brand. It was very hot but had no fan power despite the flow concentrator so it’s mostly radiating a hot breeze.

Normally when I dry my hair, it’s soft, silky, and shiny at the end; with this dryer it was dry, frizzy, and felt fried. This is like a $20 travel dryer you would buy at the drugstore and the price relative to the function and quality here is unjustifiable… I think I’ve used better dryers in cheap hotel rooms and felt genuinely shocked to see such a bad product from T3.

I also found the brownish blush pink color drab / unattractive, and the folding head seemed pretty gimmicky because it didn’t do much of anything to reduce the dryer’s awkward footprint due to the long handle and stiff cord at the handle’s base making it even longer.

I was so excited for this but it’s really bad, I almost never return purchases (1-3x per year if at all) but sent this back after one use.

I wanted to love the dyson so badly because I’m in love with the prussian blue airwrap and it goes perfectly with it. However after multiple blow out attempts with different products my hair was left flat dry and frizzy Every.

Single. Time. I have very long wavy red hair that usually blows out fairly sleek and full of body with my old babyliss titanium dryer. Why was I paying so much more for something that didn’t deliver on a quality blow out? The fact that it was light, cool looking, and quiet does not make up for a poor end result.

I just bought the Ghd helios. It’s heavier than dyson but it dries as fast as the dyson, is still pretty, not as quiet as the dyson but quieter than the babyliss, but DELIVERS a smoothe, sleek and body full end product that can be worn alone with no flat ironing needed or with my airwrap to playfully curl the lower half of my hair after drying.

The dyson went back and I’m keeping the ghd. Oh also, the new dyson flyaway attachment worked for 5 sec then hair was tight back to being frizzy and burnt up mine and my daughters hair, so if you’re on the fence between these 2, I vote helios!.

Bought this during a Cyber Monday sale, with good savings. Was replacing a VERY old hair dryer, and had been looking at the Dyson, but couldn’t quite bring myself to spend that money. However, I did want to spend an amount to ensure I would get a good, long-lasting hairdryer that I would use for the next 10+ years.

Overall, I have loved this hairdryer so far. PROS: – Pretty design (I got white) – Extremely efficient. While it took 15-20 minutes to dry my medium-thickness, curly, shoulder-blade length hair with my old hair dryer, this truly only took 5-8 minutes with the diffuser.

– As others have said, highest heat setting is hot but doesn’t burn your scalp. – Seems to minimize frizz, but don’t have enough uses yet to say for sure. CONS: – Yes, price, but seems a good investment.

– As others have noted, does not come with a diffuser. For this price, it should. I will try not to take it as a personal affront to curly-haired users such as myself. 🙂 Does come with the cone/blade/thingy I’ve never used on my curly hair.

– Not super light, but won’t hurt your wrist or forearm either (and I don’t have too much to compare it to).

I’ve been needing a hard dryer for some months and have always rated my ghd straightners so thought I’d look into buying myself the hairdryer. Quickly decided that the helios seemed the better option than the other ghd dryer purely from reviews.

I wasn’t disappointed at all in fact I’m so happy. I have medium length hair but it is super thick. In the past it’s normally taken around 30 to 40 minutes to dry my hair and this did it in just over 12 minutes.

Granted I’m pretty basic when it comes to drying my hair, I am not able to use these fancy techniques with brushes etc so you could probably shave some of the time off if you’re a pro at blow drying.

My hair is always soft and so many people have commented on how silky and shiny my hair looks. I don’t find it heavy at all, in fact it’s the lightest dryer I’ve owned so makes it easy on the arms. It has various speed and heat settings.

I tend to dry on the middle heat setting at the lowest speed as it does get a little fluttery with the hair when on the highest ones and I find the higher the heat the more hair breakage I seem to get around the ears and forehead where the hair is thinner and more fragile.

I was shocked at how quiet it is for a dryer too. I use the cold setting just after the heat and this ensures a lovely frizz free smooth finish and has helped shave off around 20 minutes of my straightening time now too.

I can now wear my hair down whenever I want, a task I dreaded doing before this dryer. I purchased the item at full price and I’d say its definitely worth it. Go for it if you’re thinking of investing in a top notch dryer that can help look after your hair.

I purchased the dryer in the white and gold and it is aesthetically pleasing. although it did take me a day to decide which colour I wanted as the plum looks beautiful too.

I wanted to try a different blow dryer then what I had been using for years because it was only lasting 7-9 months. I like that in Ulta you can try the blow dryers out. I really likes this one. I first purchased it on 5-14-22 and my hair looked so shiny and healthy.

Then after only having the blow dryer a little under 2 months it started getting really hot, about a week after it started getting red inside and smoking and making a terrible noise so I quick turned it off.

I took it back to Ulta on 7/7/22 told what happened and said that I wanted to get another, I was thinking it was probably just something wrong with that one, and I was told when I originally bought it that it was one blow dryer that customers do not return.

I really liked how my hair looked after using it. Now fast forward to today 8-10-22 as soon as I turned it on it made a terrible noise and got really red and flames started shooting out. I Immediately turned it off and waited a few minutes and the flames went out and it was smoking, and smelled terrible.

I started looking on other sites that sold it and there were a lot of complaints about it stop working after a few months and smoking. I will be returning the blow drier tonight and getting a different brand.

I really think that a recall needs to be done on this blow dryer and it’s a shame because when it works it blow dryers beautifully!.

The dryer is so heavy I have to nold it by the nozzle to lose some of the weight. That is inconvenient if you need to use the cold setting, because the button is in a wired spot. Also, the buttons are BACKWARDS.

so when you think you’re turning the heat up you are actually turning the temperature down. And when you press the power button all the way down you are actually putting it on full speed. Diffuser sold separately, don’t waste your time.

Concentrator hardly fits. Waste.

I’ve had this hair dryer for 7 years now. It still works. The wattage is 2000 which is the minimum you should expect with any decent hair dryer (anything below that and you’re exposing your hair to more heat instead of air to dry it, which is damaging).

If you have thick porous hair like mine, you need this. I have a friend who works in a different salon supply store and she recommended this brand and I’m happy with her recommendation. I’ve docked one star because it’s not particularly esthetically pleasing like some of the less effective, but Instagram worthy brands.

But it does the job and that’s what ultimately matters.

I have long, wavy/curly hair and have always diffused it. My previous dryer cost about £30 and lasted years, but eventually burnt out so I decided to treat myself to a new, more expensive one. I tried (and returned) a few different hairdryers with diffusers in the mid-range price bracket.

It was a frustrating search! Every one of them had something ‘not right’ -as if the designers have no idea how wavy/curly hair is meant to be dried! Either the diffuser was too small, the dryer was too powerful, too noisy, too awkward/heavy to hold, too short a cable, too hot.

so I relented and splashed out on the GHD one as a last try! I’m really impressed so far. The diffuser is the perfect shape and size and holds the hair nicely without it being too scrunched into the dish.

The settings are just right and easy to use, the air doesn’t ‘blast’ out so my waves are not getting too blown out of the diffuser (something I found with quite a few others). It’s not ridiculously noisy, not too heavy, it’s nice to hold and the cool setting is great.

My hair is shinier and the waves are more defined when I use this dryer. Well done GHD for actually getting what a diffuser is meant to do! I feel like Goldielocks after trying so many different dryers! This one is just right!.

I always appreciated that not all hairdryers are good and I have tried many!! Hotel hairdryers are usually too weak and without direction and often in a very short lead!. Others can be poor at temperature control or too heavy.

I have always bought ‘salon quality’ and always had two as I could not live without my hairdryer if it broke down. I was however sceptical that spending more money would equate with significant improvement on what I thought was already great.

I was wrong. My new GHD hairdryer is amazing. It dries quickly, gives root lift that lasts with perfect direction and temperature controlled airflow. Combined with the GHD mousse it makes my hair look naturally styled, shiny and smell lovely.

There is a long lead and it’s not too heavy. If I hadn’t been given birthday money I probably would never have tried this hairdryer but if you can afford it then you will not be disappointed.

This was my first GHD hairdryer and I’m totally pleased with my purchase. I have used a different brand of hairdryer for years and always though they were good enough until my recent one broke and replaced with the same and was completely disappointed with it.

This one has the power but somehow does not blow your hair all over the place as my other ones did. To be honest I thought that was normal for hairdryers to do that. It also seems to stay at the same heat instead of getting hotter and hotter and is fairly quiet too.

It is light weight, easy to handle and feels sturdy. Yes, it’s double the price of my previous hairdryer but is so worth it. I have long thick hair and this is a game changer for me. It was defiantly quicker drying my hair too.

Wish I’d tried GHD years ago. Definitely recommend this.

This hair dryer is oh-so-expensive, at least for someone like me who’s on a fixed income. I didn’t really like writing anything negative, but I thought it necessary to put that first, especially because of all the hoopla from The New York Times, raving about how light it is, etc.

It’s no lighter than my original hair dryer. May as well go on with another small “negative” I just thought about. I keep unintentionally tapping on the COLD button, because it’s right there where I’m holding the dryer.

I know I’ll get used to positioning my hand and fingers better. Now onto the good, positive things. I love the cord length! I can really work with seeing the back of my head because of the additional length, so I appreciate this nice surprise.

As for performance, the dryer has good options as to warm-to-hot and high-to-low speeds, which I find particularly necessary with my most unusual hair style, which is now short, but a million different lengths (maybe slightly like a “shag”?), and now gives me the ability to try some different angles, if you will, with my hair.

The sound is quieter, and that’s a big deal, since I don’t miss any incoming phone calls. According to the company — whom I called to ask a question about this hair dryer — it turns out that, based on the numberson the plug-in part, I have a really old model, sold to me, “as new,” by an online dealer, and not Rusk directly.

But I still will have the same two-year guarantee as long as I hang onto the receipt and — oh, I just forgot, but I have both requirements written down, so I’m cool. Nice rep and good company! If you have the money to spend, go for this RUSK Engineering W8less Professional 2000 Watt Dryer.

I was gifted by Rusk Haircare. This RUSK w8less professional 2000 watts blow dryer dries my hair in a fraction of the time I have a normal blow dryer! It blows at 50mph! They call it w8less because it weighs less then 2 pounds!! I don’t think I’ve ever owned another blow dryer that’s been this light.

This makes it so much easier to hold while I’m styling and drying my hair that’s almost down to my butt and my arm doesn’t start to hurt. Anything to make myself more comfortable while I’m blow drying is a big plus in my book! I’ve been using hair dryers for EVER! I don’t really become impressed with them honestly. Some are bulky and some are heavy. But after my car accident, my neck and arms have been affected and now, I can’t hold a blow dryer that weighs a ton for 15 minutes anymore (and it hurts, a lot).

My fine hair now has body and lift along with shine that the other dryers Ive ever used. Quality cord that is longer than any Ive had, luxury feel. The Value for the money. Highly recommend. The only negative thing I would say: the buttons are awkward while holding the product – Im constantly turning it off or lowering the heat setting by accident.

It could be Im not accustomed to how the buttons are set up(backwards from my old dryer). But if thats my only issue – Im good!.

Just purchased this dryer on amazon, used it once so far and I’m in LOVE! After washing my hair I didn’t apply any products to my hair. (I know, not good for my hair, but I wanted to truly see how well this dryer worked!) After completely drying my hair, my hair was full of volume, shiny and so soft! This dryer is awesome! Dried my hair quickly and effectively! Although it’s a little heavier and longer with the precision drying attachment, than what I’m used to using, I will adjust to it.

It was time for a new, lighter weight dryer so I researched and chose this great Trezoro Pro! I love it! 2200 watts and my hair is dry in Half the time of my old 10 year old unit (no kidding!). I also love that my hair doesnt get static cling with this dryer.

I will premise this review with saying that I am no hair expert. I am a very low maintenance girl, I don’t style my hair, I don’t even blow dry my hair on a regular occasion (only so I’m not going to bed with wet hair in the winter).

My 25 year old Conair blow dryer blew out and I was in the market for a new blow dryer for myself and my 3 year old sensory sensitive daughter. I was looking for something as fast and as quiet as possible as my daughter gets completely overwhelmed by hair care.

My hair is very very thick and coarse and it takes a very long time for me to blow dry my hair. I was excited at the possibility to expedite my blow drying experience. This Shark HyperAir looked promising without the price tag of a Dyson.

I will say, at first fire-up the sheer pressure emitted from the Shark HyperAir was very impressive. I thought that my hair would be sure to be dry in no time with that kind of pressure, but alas, I did not notice any marked difference in dry time from the Shark HyperAir to my 25 year old Conair.

I will say that my daughter’s hair seemed to dry a tad faster (she has thin/fine hair). Another difference I noticed was that the Shark HyperAir ran considerably cooler than I was used to. Also, our hair was noticeably smoother.

As far as the loudness of the blow dryer, I would not say that it is much different than my old dryer. Overall, for a lay person like me who just needs a plain and simple blow dryer, the Shark HyperAir’s performance doesn’t justify the cost.

As far as a blow dryer for a child with sensory sensitivities, this is not the blow dryer. I would still recommend this blow dryer but to a more hair saavvy individual who would use this daily as a tool for not only blow drying but for styling as well.

It is a light weight, sleek, and stylish tool that would be a fantastic fixture to any bathroom.

I normally do not write reviews but this one has to be written. This is the second Gamma blow dryer so have purchased this year. The first one went out after getting too hot. I wanted to love this blow dryer so I purchased a second one and made sure to do everything correctly to take care of it.

I will say that the XL is much better in the fact that it doesn’t get nearly as hot as the original however, after only 4 months, it stopped working. It only blows cool air. I understand that things happen but to go through TWO in a year is ridiculous.

What’s even more ridiculous is that these are not cheap!!! Almost $800 investment gone down the drain. You would think that a company would want to help out someone who not only invests in their products but also sends clients to purchase the tools that is recommended to them by their stylist.

It’s a shame! Will never purchase another tool from this company again and I sure as hell won’t put my name behind it and recommend it to my clients!!.

If you’re looking for the unicorn of hair dryers, this is it. I seriously could not be more obsessed with this hair dryer!! I have level 9 blonde, 22” NBR hair extensions and this dryer is a GOD SEND.

My hair dries in HALF THE TIME. I have also experienced much less frizz & breakage since purchasing this drier. I’ve had it for 3. 5 years and it still works PERFECTLY! The power this hair dryer has far exceeds that of any other hair drier I’ve tried – trust me, I’ve tried them ALL.

It’s extremely lightweight, very easy to maneuver, and very easy to maintain. The dryer has a self-cleaning function, which I use once a week to keep my drier functioning properly. (Keeping this hair dryer clean is essential for optimal performance).

Bought this blowdryer right before covid hit and my salon closed. I came back to work for maybe 6 weeks then had shoulder replacement surgery. So I didn’t use this blow dryer very much. I did like the light weight, but clients hated the noise.

It always was to hot and would or could burn the clients scalp if above the first setting. I did send back while off of work because a plastic piece fell off around the blowing end. They didn’t fix or replace.

Sad that it’s made that cheap yet they expect top price. It’s now been a little more then 2 years with very little use and it started to make a horrible noise and just stopped working. My beauty supply store said because it’s out of warranty it’s my responsibility to contact the maker.

I went on line and needed information I don’t have and no phone number to call here in the states. I guess buy American and definitely not this product.

(there is a TLDR at the bottom of this review) Let’s start out by saying that I’m comparing this product to my $20 Conair dryer and diffuser that is literally duct-taped to the dryer. I have fairly thick wavy/curly (2B/3A) hair, I’m simply looking for a product to diffuse my hair so I can get my hair dry before bed and bring out its natural texture.

Pros: Dried my hair fast more customizable settings than I’m used to attachments stay on the dryer while in use my hair didnt come out fried or looking super wonky Cons: expensive awkward to hold while diffusing buttons are also in an awkward place in my opinion i do not know where to store all of the attachments Most of the pros are also Cons Now you might be thinking “Wow random reviewer those Cons are really not bad why is your review so low?” and I will say “You’re so right reader let me tell you why I feel this way.

” -While the Dyson did dry my hair faster its lowest temp was also hotter than the low temp on my previous dryer, so much so that I was legit sweating by the end of my 10 min drying session. The increased heat made me nervous about the long-term health of my hair.

-There are three of each fan and heat settings along with a cold shot button. This is great for most people but I really don’t need other settings besides low speed and low heat and both of the lowest settings were too fast and too hot for me personally.

-The attachments are magnetic to the dryer, this is the only pro that isn’t a con for me personally. The only thing I will say is that this is probably the only thing I’ll miss about the Dyson but my duct-taped diffuser hasn’t let me down yet.

-My hair came out fine and not weird after using this dryer! which is great right? Well it also comes out just fine using my cheap dryer diffuser combo and I’d argue that my old setup has more consistent results but for now, I will chalk that up to getting used to the Dyson.

Also not frying your hair and making it look good is the bare minimum bottom line for a hair dryer so the Dyson gets no special points for this. TLDR For my hair type and lifestyle, the insane price tag of this dryer was just not worth it at all.

Any pros were either cons in disguise or something that my old $20 hairdryer can do with a little finagling. I think this dryer is probably so worth it for many people, I’m just not one of them.

Deliberated for almost 6mths about buying the dryer purely down to the price tag. Weighed up the alternatives (GHD, cloud 9 etc) but eventually thanks to great payment offer on QVC decided to take the plunge (the no quibble return policy was a help) First time using I used on my daughter, thick mid back length hair.

Liked the results and could see a comparable difference between the Dyson and my well loved Babyliss Pro, however still unsure of having invested so much money. Spent some time watching the online tutorials which were a good help, then dried my own hair……still unsure.

However I LOVED the feel of the dryer, lightweight and compact, the attachments are brilliantly easy to change and the magnetic holds are a cracking idea. Mine came in a beautiful case which sits beautifully on my dresser and is an easy way to store both dryer and attachments.

After 3/4 uses the dryer has become much easy to use and I’m more dexterous at using the attachments. My hair is noticeably shinier and the condition seems improved. Have used on both my daughters and there I can see the biggest change.

Hair is smoother, shinier and wayyyyyyy straighter without a straightener in sight! Would recommend anyone sitting on the fence to try. It’s an impressive piece of kit. The power behind it is brilliantly strong and controlled, (very similar to the jets put out by a Dyson hand dryer), the ease with which attachments can be changed is great.

When held each of the controls are really easy to reach to change, and the noise of the full speed setting is relatively gentle when compared with traditional dryers. It’s almost possible to hold a conversation whilst using! Overall I would wholeheartedly recommend, especially if a decent QVC offer comes up to take the sting from the price.

Just be patient and play with it a good few times whilst you learn to optimise its capabilities!.

I got this a week ago and have washed and dried my hair three times since, so this is a preliminary review, really. But I am impressed. I bought the Dyson because I have hair that’s got a really fine texture, meaning it’s prone to dryness, damage and breaking, but there’s also loads of it, which means it takes ages to dry (exacerbating the damage issue).

I’ve been letting my hair air dry about 90% of the time for years, but that was getting untenable, so I saved up and bought this to replace my Parlux, which, despite being an expensive professional model took what felt like forever to get my hair dry, and is so hot even on the medium setting that I always felt not only my hair but my face and neck were being toasted.

The Dyson dries my hair really fast – so fast that I can hardly believe it. It must cut at least a third off the time it took with the Parlux, maybe even half. And even on the hottest setting I don’t feel my skin or hair getting uncomfortably hot.

I also find that my hair looks and feels silky and shiny, although this could also be partly due to investing in an expensive new heat protectant at the same time. The one reason this gets four stars instead of five is that, by the third time of drying with the Dyson (as opposed to air drying) I’m noticing that I have an absolute mass of flyaway hairs.

This is definitely something I’m prone to whenever I blow dry, but I’d hoped that the Dyson wouldn’t make it worse, or that if it did, the new Flyaway Attachment would do its job and make them less noticeable.

But my flyaways are apparently too stubborn for the attachment. It made no difference to them whatsoever. I can obviously try to flatten them down with serums or oils, but I do worry that they’re the first sign of damage happening.

If they keep getting worse each time I dry then I will have to use the Dyson less, which is a disappointment with such an expensive item. I would still recommend this to anyone who hates blowdrying their hair and finds that it takes them forever, though.

I dread each drying session considerably less now.

After using my hair dryer for about 6 months I started to hear a humming sound coming from battery pack when plugged in. The battery pack would get extremely hot as well. Could not leave plugged in, so constantly was plugging this in when I needed to use it each day.

Called Dyson for assistance and was told they would send a replacement since service center was on other side of state. I had to send mine back and then once they received it they would send replacement.

Unfortunately, they did not have the color I had so I had to take the standard color. Received the new one and then after 6 months this one started the humming from battery pack and got very hot. Called Dyson and this time was told this was normal, which I found hard to believe considering how hot the battery pack gets if you leave plugged in.

They also told me that even though I received a replacement for my first one, I was out of warranty for the new one that I only had for 6 months. The warranty was only for 1 year from time of original purchase.

The remaining 1 year warranty from new one was not valid and mine was no longer under warranty. To pay over $300 for a hair dryer and not to have new warranty for replacement does not reflect the type of product you would expect from this Dyson.

I have to remember to unplug my hair dryer when done, in fear it can catch fire. If I accidentally forget I find I have to return home after leaving for work to unplug. After only about an hour the battery pack is extremely hot when left plugged in, even when not used.

I’ve had other brands of hair dryers for years and none of them get hot when plugged in like this Dyson. They know there’s a problem with the battery pack and are not resolving it for their customers.

I had been using an older model BaBylissPRO Tourmaline Titanium 3000 Dryer for 4 years before it started to fall apart on me. I had wanted to buy this one for awhile but couldn’t get over the price tag.

After finally deciding to splurge I am wishing I had just purchased my old dryer again. Even though this dryer is supposedly significantly stronger, it does not seem to be. It seems very weak compared to my old one.

But the biggest issue is the terrible design flaw. The buttons are awkwardly placed but worst of all the concentrator nozzle simply slides over the dryer, which basically means you have to take it off in order to change the positions.

I have to change the position at least 3 times while drying my hair which is impossible because it gets so hot you can’t touch it! On the older model it snapped in to the top and you could simply twist it without barely touching it.

So disappointed I spent so much money on a lukewarm hairdryer.

I have fine curly hair that gets frizzy easily if I don’t put my Pureology pure volume blow dry amplifier gel or Pureology texture twist reshaping styler in while wet or damp before it starts to dry.

My hair has always taken a long time to dry, somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes. Not anymore thanks to my T3 Featherweight 2! I’ve cut down half my drying time since now it’s dry in 10-15 minutes, not including extra time if it’s frizzy and I use my new T3 twirl curling iron or T3 single pass flat iron.

I straighten it with 1 or all of my 4 round brushes: T3 Volume 3. 0 round, T3 Volume 2. 5 round, Scunci 1” round boar bristle, or Olivia Garden ceramic+ionic thermal oval brush. This hair dryer has a big motor which makes it a bit heavier than other dryers, that doesn’t bother me.

Another great feature is how quiet it is especially if you have a child’s hair to dry like myself. Getting my daughter ready for school in the mornings can be crazy around my house. This dryer helps me with both time management and with its quiet engine, she sits still and lets me dry her hair without a fuss.

The function of the dryer is more important but it’s pretty to look at the Tiffany blue shiny chrome finish.

I really like the feel and look of this dryer. I wanted to love it sooo much! I had an older model T3 that was a professional one and I loved that thing. This just doesn’t get hot enough on the low fan setting to use a round brush on it.

I was trying to use it at work and just didn’t cut it! So I brought it home to use on myself and I still don’t like it! Apparently I purchased a final sale item and am unable to return it. I guess it could be a great paper weight.

I bought this hair dryer for Christmas. Just started using. I have a GFCI outlet. After 10 minutes it starts a tripping audio sound. Cannot figure out why. Not comfortable using until I know why. Tried plugging in different outlets it is the same noise.

Is this a defective hair dryer? Please explain. I bought it directly online. Unable to post the video to show the issue.

This has to be my favourite hair-dryer ever made. Parlux definitely know what they’re doing. I love it more than the dyson and have been using it for years. It keeps my hair smooth, healthy and I can style it without needing to run the iron through it after.

I’ve got super afro curly hair that’s quite dry and this model doesn’t dry out my hair more so I’d highly recommend.

I chose this hair dryer because it was recommended by my hair stylist and because it advertised it was quiet. It is wonderfully quiet, and appears to be very well made. It even has a nice extra detail of soft bumpers so when lay it on my vanity, it doesn’t clang or scratch the surface.

The pink was not my first choice for color, but it’s growing on me!.

Not overly happy with it, hair is like straw after I use it with lots of fly always. Should’ve gone with the GHD…much better quality. Feel like this hairdryer was a waste of money!

There are two similar hair styling systems that have become extremely popular. A very significant differentiator, however, is that one brand is less than half the price of the other. The Shark FlexStyle Air Drying & Styling System is an incredible comparative bargain.

We own several Shark appliances and have a genuine appreciation of those excellent products with their impressive performance. It was therefore an easy decision to select the Shark FlexStyle. The Shark FlexStyle (Model HD430) includes the Multi-Styling Tool, which is the core of the system to which the accessories attach for use.

This power unit provides four heat settings (No Heat, Low, Medium, High), plus “Cool Shot” (No Heat while button is depressed and held) and three airflow settings (Low, Medium, High). Each of those setting levels are annunciated by small LED lamps above the Temperature Button and the Airflow Button.

With a twist of the articulating barrel, it converts from a hair styling wand into a hair-blower / hairdryer. Accessory attachments include two 1 ¼” Auto-Wrap Curlers which wrap hair around them using the FlexStyle airflow.

These curlers use Coanda Technology to wrap, curl and set hair. The Coanda Effect refers to an aerodynamic characteristic whereby a fast-moving jet of air “attaches” to a surface. The high velocity airflow of the FlexStyle effectively wraps hair around the curlers and maintains tension on the hair to develop a tight and even wrap.

The curlers are directionally oriented, with one used for clockwise wraps and the other used for counterclockwise wraps (marked marked Left and Right, including directional arrows showing the airflow direction).

Also included are two air styling brush attachments comprised of an oval brush with both smoothing bristles on the edges and detangling bristles in the center, and a paddle brush, which also has both smoothing and detangling bristles, for use in smoothing, straightening and volumizing hair.

The final attachment in this package is a concentrator, for directing and concentrating the powerful airflow of the Shark FlexStyle when using it as a conventional hair-blower / dryer. All attachments securely anchor in place using a small rotation which interlocks the plastic cam pins and latches with an audible click.

Attachments are quickly and easily released by the sliding Lock button. Shark also offers an optional Curl-Defining Diffuser which is sold separately for drying curly and wavy hair and enhancing curls and waves.

Since hairstyles change and people choose to modify their hairstyles, the Curl Defining Diffuser should be included with the FlexStyle system. The system really should be complete and include everything necessary for user flexibility and choice, including the Diffuser.

I am confident that my wife is just one of many users who really want and need the Diffuser attachment. It would also be nice if there was a case included for both storage and travel with the Shark FlexStyle System because this is quite an extensive collection of implements.

The FlexStyle components really should not simply be stored loose in a drawer or cabinet, and when travelling it could be a challenge to pack the FlexStyle in a manner that prevents possible damage. If you plan on styling a shorter hair style or bangs, note that both of the Brush attachments are large.

The Oval Brush measures 3 ¼” across the narrow aspect, and 3 7/8” on the wide aspect. The Paddle Brush measures 3 ½” across the bristles. My wife’s conventional, round styling brush is only 1 ¾” in diameter.

It would be nice if a smaller diameter brush were included for users with short styles or bangs. The FlexStyle Multi-Styling Tool is 11 3/16” overall in the straight configuration for use with the curlers and brush attachments, which increase the overall length to about 17 ¼”.

The Multi-Styling Tool weighs only 14. 1 ounces (400 grams), without attachments. About 1/3 (3”-4”) below the top of the Multi-Styling Tool is an articulating joint which through an easy twist of the tool converts the straight tool into a 90° right angle tool for use with the concentrator attachment for hair-blowing / drying.

The rotating hinge is locked in place until released with the Hinge Latch button immediately below the hinge. The FlexStyle Multi-Styling Tool is equipped with an exceptionally long power cord, spanning 9’.

The cord is equipped with a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) for user safety (as required by law), and is apparently also protected by a fusible link. All of the connections on the power cord are equipped with robust strain relief, and at the base of the Multi-Styling Tool, the strain relief is angled and rotates freely so that the power cord is never a nuisance which impedes the use of the FlexStyle and the power cord is not likely to become twisted or tangled during use.

The maximum wattage of the FlexStyle is 1300 watts, which equates to a 10. 8 amp electrical load. Clearly, the Shark FlexStyle system replaces several hair styling implements and appliances, with an elegant, flexible, versatile and efficient all-in-one hair styling solution.

A very significant benefit of the Shark FlexStyle is that it virtually eliminates the likelihood of damaging hair due to excessive heat, according to the manufacturer. The FlexStyle is designed to precisely monitor and regulate temperature by measuring and adjusting temperature 1,000 times per second.

The FlexStyle accurately maintains temperature that is consistent, rather than widely fluctuating which can result in hair being exposed to excessively high temperatures and incurring damage, I measured the FlexStyle output at 7” from the nozzle.

On the Low setting the temperature was approximately 140° F, on the Medium setting it was approximately 160° F and on the High setting the temperature measured approximately 180° F. The air velocity discharged by the FlexStyle is strong.

Of course, the unit produces noise when in operation, but even at the High speed airflow setting, the motor noise of the FlexStyle was not uncomfortably loud, as some other hair-blowers typically are.

My wife has used a great many hair styling tools and appliances throughout the years. She was very anxious to start using the Shark FlexStyle to determine if it would actually improve upon her hair styling tasks, reduce the effort and burden, and produce superior results.

My wife reviewed the printed Shark FlexStyle Styling Guide which is included in the package, consulted the FAQs on the Shark website, and watched several Internet videos prior to using the FlexStyle for the first time.

Mrs. Curmudgeon really loves the Shark FlexStyle. She has used each of the FlexStyle attachments in order to determine if the FlexStyle actually produces better results than she could achieve with her array of conventional hair styling implements, and to see if the FlexStyle would truly replace all of those individual, single-purpose tools.

We are both very pleased with the results. Not only is she finding it to be easier and quicker to style her hair with the FlexStyle, but she genuinely prefers the results that she is achieving with the FlexStyle.

The FlexStyle is excellent at producing curls of variable tightness without damaging her hair. Likewise, she found that, except for her bangs, both the oval brush attachment and paddle brush attachment performed their respective tasks better than when she formerly employed separate brushes and needed to use both hands (brush in one and blow-dryer in the other).

This improved efficiency may likely be the result of the temperature controlled heated air being applied from inside the brush, rather than the conventional method. The FlexStyle appears to be well-built of high-quality plastic materials with a solid feel.

The FlexStyle is comfortable and easy to use given the unit’s dimensions and light weight. My wife likes how comfortable and convenient it is to use the FlexStyle. The weight and balance are nice, and the control buttons for temperature and airflow are conveniently located on the handle.

The only control button that is perhaps not in the most convenient location, especially for small hands, is the Cool Shot button, which is used to “set” curls and waves after using heated airflow. The distance between the Cool Shot button and the other controls ranges between 2 ½”: and 4”.

My wife has found it to be a bit of a stretch to use that button, but has adapted her grip on the FlexStyle to facilitate the use of the Cool Shot button. This was just a very minor accommodation. Notably, the air intake for the powerful fan in the Multi-Styling Tool is at the base of the tool in the bottom 2” of the handle.

It is important to avoid holding the implement in such a way that the user’s hand is obstructing the perforations for air intake, particularly since the control buttons are located in the bottom 2 ½”: of the handle.

That perforated section of the handle covers a fine filter. The filter cover is removable and exposes the internal filter for cleaning with a toothbrush or other soft brush. The FlexStyle is covered by a 2-year warranty against manufacturer defects, however if Shark replaces the unit, a fee (disclosed in the printed warranty provisions included in the box) is assessed.

Overall, we both think that the Shark FlexStyle Air Styling and Drying System is really great. It is a powerful blow-dryer for styling and hair drying. It is a flexible and innovative hair styling system which makes curling, smoothing, straightening and styling hair faster and easier than with the numerous separate, dedicated tools, and with nicer results.

A big plus is eliminating the heat damage that is virtually impossible to avoid with conventional blow-dryers, curling wands and straightening irons. The Shark FlexStyle Air Styling and Drying System really does it all, does it easier and does it better!.

There are different kinds of hair and products for styling each of them, the cost to have a product for each type of hair style would be very expensive, however this hair dryer, which is priced quite competitively and I could even say below the competition, allows you to get virtually any type of style that is to your liking and according to the type of hair you have.

The first thing you ask is if this product is worth the price and knowing that there are other options out there with similar features, the honest answer I can give is, it is definitely worth every penny, it is a hair dryer that offers much more than just drying your hair, which by the way compared to an ordinary dryer is much more effective.

The design besides being very aesthetic and elegant, is made in a way that is very simple and easy to use, a function that I really like is that you press a button to rotate the top of the dryer to have a better angle and grip when drying, I was fascinated.

The motor blows out enough air in three levels to dry your hair in a short time. In terms of heat it also has three levels but with the first two you can style your hair very well because it generates enough heat and this added to the fact that it blows out the air strongly, makes it unnecessary to use the maximum heat level.

Before styling the hair it is recommended to use some product to protect the hair from the heat, this varies from person to person, however we must not forget that we are exposing our hair to heat. The performance is great, each of the ways the aceseories can be use, I get a excellent result, it takes time but it is worh it.

It is possible to straighten the hair and curl it if desired, give volume or if you have curly hair you can also get many styles. There are video guides on the Shark Beauty Youtube channel that shows you how to use the accessories in the best way and get the best out of them, I find them very useful.

It is a product that, when you consider the price on the market for similar products that have an outstanding performance, exceeds expectations by far. Each of the accesories fit together without a problem, it is easy to use, it is comfortable and one thing that I like is that it has a button that when you hold it down when using hot air, it blows out cold air which is very helpful in some cases.

The hair dryer is kind of loud similar to most common hair dryers. In summary, I can say that there are a countless number of hairstyles that can be achieved with this hair dryer, similar results to those of a beauty salon.

It has a very elegant design, includes accessories quite useful and the best thing is not expensive, if you do not want to spend on high end brand products, this Shark FlexStyle is a great option, highly recommended.

I have loved using this Shark hairdryer,with extra attachments for styling as you dry your hair. ( what an amazing time saver) I generally let my hair air dry at night after a shower and a quick towel “dry”, and then wrestle with straightening it in the morning, where I eventually give up and just tie it up for the day.

It has been a never ending cycle but this Shark HyperAir has helped the situation immensely. It seems like no matter what hair dryer is used on my hair, whether that be our basic household one or the several different models used by a salon professional over the years, it always ends up taking forever to dry my hair.

Even at the most powerful settings, generally about 25-30 minutes. This Shark unit, however, is able to dry my hair in 10-15 minutes tops. From being practically dripping wet to dry, I am so impressed and glad I found something that worked.

Also, I may add that it doesn’t damage you hair as a typical hair dryer does. I am thinking the ionized air/ negative ion generator helps with this because my hair has honestly never looked so good after using this unit, the texture is so much better.

Not only does this unit do a great job with no attachments on it, but I have found the styling brush attachment works very well with my hair and what I would like my hair to look like after a blow dry.

After a traditional drying, my hair definitely still needs to be straightened and probably some product to help control the frizz. However, the styling brush attachment literally takes care of about 3 steps at once and the final product is even better.

My hair is nearly straight with it and is extremely smooth, no frizz or fly aways to be found. It also gets about 45-50 minutes of work done in 15 minutes. The brush attachment is that good. The concentrator attachment is also excellent for its specific use.

My mom and I figured out that the concentrator attachment is better for her because she likes to use specific hair brushes while she dries and styles her hair so she loves the concentrator. As far as temperature, it seems like this unit works at just the perfect temperatures.

The lowest setting is still strong enough to aid in drying, and the highest setting does a great job without burning my skin or hair. The one dislike of this unit is the lack of ergonomics. It is a good size and weight, but there are no grips or grooves to help you hold on to it.

I found that it twists around in my hand sometimes, especially when using the brush attachment. However the very long power cord is an added bonus, this is by far the longest power cord I have ever seen on a hair dryer and it is very convenient.

The unit itself is small enough that it does not take up much space on the countertop, and it will be very easy to travel with. Honestly it works so well I would travel with it even if it was bigger.

I cannot say enough good things about this Shark Hyperair dryer, it is my new favorite product and I recommend it to anyone in need of a hair dryer or just looking to upgrade.

This blow dryer is absolutely fantastic and would be comparable to the Dyson supersonic. it has amazing output and a cooling button when pushed that lasts how ever long you desire. I am a bleach blonde and my hair has never looked healthier.

I have tried my sister’s Dyson and in all reality there isn’t a difference in outcome. I am a GHD girl for life. yes it has a pricey price tag but is alot less then the Dyson ànd has outlived many Dyson’s in comparison.

I also own the 2″ GHD straightner which was bought at the same time as the blow dryer and is still in MINT condition. ( my hair is down the middle of my back) drying time is less then 20 mins and three different heat settings.

I could go on and on but I will stop now. go GHD you won’t be disappointed and will get your money Worth’s. ( a little on heavy side for those with health concerns on weight ) mine came with the diffuser and concentrate nozzle.

I bought this hair dryer with a 25% percent off promotion for cyber Monday. I searched reviews for a dryer that works best for low porosity hair that takes forever to dry. This hair dryer is ionic and the location of the motor supposedly helps hair dry faster.

My hair is super curly and frizzy, and must be COMPLETELY dry (not even a little damp) or otherwise it will curl right up after drying. This hair dryer has literally cut down my drying time by a third – and on days with low humidity, it dries in almost half the time.

The only thing that has every reduced my drying time before was a keratin treatment. I was sure if i believed the whole ionic thing, but I have used other professional grade dryers in the past and this one worked best for me.

I would definitely buy another (hopefully this one lasts awhile though).

I bought this over two weeks ago as a replacement for my very old (10yrs ) Air hairdryer. I listened to the sales person who said it was the best to have as the Air’s would probably be discontinued soon and the Helios was much better.

Unfortunately I have to disagree. Yes the Helios does dry really quickly, but unless you are are professional and used to speed and tension, I found this just made my hair difficult to style. The moisture was gone.

If I changed the blow speed down, my hair just turned frizzy so it’s kind of all or nothing. It didn’t make my hair any smoother than the Air, probably worse if I’m honest. There was no life or bounce after drying.

Whether this is due to the new motor technology used, I have no idea. The speed switch has to think about changing up or down a level when you’re selecting which speed you want, give it a second – it gets there in the end! So I guess this button is either faulty or just badly made.

I see another review states the same thing. For the extra ££, I definitely do not feel I have bought a better product or a quality product and remain very disappointed. I loved my Air, that was definitely the best dryer I have ever owned.

So much so, I will be putting the Helios in a drawer and forgetting about it. I can’t return it to the store as it’s classed as a ‘personal grooming product’. And I have just placed an order for another GHD Air.

I bought this blow dryer before Christmas and wished I hadn’t been busy and took the time to take advantage of the no questions asked return policy. I have been a hairdresser for over 30 years and was searching for a lightweight dryer.

I googled articles on professional hair dryers and GHD came up. I pulled the trigger and ordered the limited color, warm pewter, which is beautiful. I love the way the dryer looks yet find it to be heavy, hot and too powerful.

I like to finish my styling on low air flow and find that even on low it is too powerful. I am disappointed with the inability to get at the lint when I clean it. You can open the back of the dryer yet not get to the debris.

If you are looking for a lightweight dryer do not get this one. Again, I am sorry I didn’t return and will live with a 225$ + investment.
