20 Best Automatic Soap Dispenser Consumer Reports (2022 Updated)

I got a two pack of these. One for the bathroom and one for the kitchen. Unfortunately I’ve not been able to use either. One arrived broken and they are out of stock for the broken part and the other has a stripped screw in the battery compartment that I have not been able to remove in order to put batteries in to use it.

They seem like nice soap dispensers and they’re easy to fill. I think I just had bad luck with mine. Customer support was super helpful when I contacted them about the broken soap holder and that’s pretty much the only reason I’ve given three stars.

I really love having this in my workshop to keep from having to pick up soap to wash my hands and always leaving a mess behind. This is such a time saver and an easy way to keep your area clean and sanitized.

This is so easy to set up (all hardware is included) and you can use any liquid soap to refill. This dispenses exactly what you need to soap up your hands and wash so there is no waste. Great for families with kids to be able to save money and works just as well with hand sanitizer.

These are very durable and well made. I wish I would have gotten these years ago! I love them!.

I am truly impressed with the quality of this automatic soap dispenser. It was super easy to install, directions were super easy to follow. I like that this soap dispenser allows for it to be plugged in.

The plug was not included but can be purchased off Amazon, do you never have to worry about batteries dying. It does require C batteries but they seem to be lasting quite some time. I love how it gives the perfect amount of soap, because I usually go through so much soap with my kids thinking they need a gallon to wash their hands; and you are able to see where your soap level is on the front of it.

I would definitely recommend this automatic soap dispenser to anyone looking for a well built and easy to use device as you will surly not be disappointed by this one.

Tried a less expensive brand auto soap dispenser about 5 or more years ago, which returned due to poor functionality; store clerk understood & had seen before; she recommended I try Simple Human dispenser instead, as does not have those products returned.

Since then, have had this style Simple Human auto soap dispenser in 2 locations of my house for several years previous — one this same compact size & one larger size not currently available for sale.

have been happy with them, other than changing batteries ( but customer reviews led me against a Simple Human rechargeable due to some design issues). Month ago, tried a different brand’s rechargable dispenser; but, volume of soap was not adjustable to the range Simple Human’s is resulting in a waste of very expensive organic liquid soap; canned that experiment.

Happy to have since re-purchased another Simple Human compact which feels like home — same high quality & function. Truly is the best!.

I have bought a dozen of these for our home and for our children. They look sleek, compact, and definitely a good idea for minimizing germs. However, they are not worth the price at all. More than half of them stopped working and appear to be clogged.

It also appears from the reviews that using only Simple Human soap may be a must. Although we invested in their soap, some of us have sensitivity to their soap and should not have to use their soap on top of the costly device itself.

I think there may be some legal issues with the company designing products that may require you to only use their soaps. Nonetheless, I have written the company and tried to contact them several times to no avail.

I would not waste money on their overpriced and under performing products until they render more quality products, afford soap options, and badly needed customer service.

I own a different model (with rechargable battery) and wanted a model that took regular AA batteries. I truly dislike items with rechargable batteries. Once the batteries have stopped holding a charge the device even if functional becomes useless.

As for this specific model with replaceable batteries, the SENSOR is inferior compared to the rechargable model sensor. This model requires you to put your hard in a very PRECISE spot under it. If not you will have to reposition several times until you get it right.

This makes the unit beyond frustrating. The rechargable model sensor is far superior to this one. This model that takes AA batteries is a hard pass. Now that I know.

I got this automated soap dispenser a few weeks before the Coronavirus arrived in the US and it’s gotten near constant use since then. My girlfriend is a registered nurse and a germophobe so she was so happy to see this installed in the kitchen.

I had originally planned to put it in my workshop but given the state of affairs these days, I decided the kitchen would be a better location. Mounting it to the wall was easy, very intuitive. Refilling with soap is also easy, and not messy at all.

It works exactly like I expected it to. The black color matches my rustic home theme too. Overall, I’m very happy with this soap dispenser and would recommend it to anyone – from home use with or without children, to workshops, to an office.

Tired of soap disappearing in addition to constantly having to refill containers due to overuse of amounts. This dispenser is large and similar to most restaurant/public stores restrooms. I have bought the dainty ones and they did not hold up in quality; so, for the cost of the dispenser and refills I figured I had nothing to lose.

Since I wanted to avoid putting extra holes in the wall, I decided to use the included glue strips to install the soap dispenser. After two weeks in my office, it hasn’t budged at all. The unit is very simple and straightforward when putting it together, and on top of that it’s pretty easy to clean.

Using it is also quite simple and the dispenser actually only needs just a slight tap, no hard pressing needed. Another perk is that this unit also works well with rechargeable batteries, so if you’re a sustainable person then that could be an advantage.

I was super excited for this soap dispenser as it is sleek, versatile and I love the idea of it being automated. However you cannot use foaming soap (I figured), gel soap or “thick” soap. I had all three kinds so I figured I would have an option that worked however the non-foaming, non-gel soap I have apparently is too thick.

But I do not consider it a thick soap. It recommends you water it down so I had to play scientist and mix up soap and water in a container and then pour it in. Which is a little inconvenient and that alone would be fine but now I feel like the soap doesn’t lather as much as I’d like because of how watered down it is.

I will play around with it a bit more but for now I just utilize two ‘dispensing’ shots of soap to get an adequate amount of later. But if the soap wasn’t watered down as much the amount it dispenses is bang on.

So overall I do like it minus the very complicating factor of what soap to put in it.

For the one month I owned it, worked perfect for my family. Use it daily and once or twice it might dispense too little but not a big problem. The sensor position is better than another brand I owned and definitely a better design.

The only problem I have is perhaps to find a mounting position on the tile. After the initial hassle it works like a charm. No more soap stain on the counter.

Love it. It’s a little on the large size. Not really good for a bathroom. I’m using it in my kitchen instead. It does not drip and soap is dispensed in an adequate amount for washing your hands. I did not attach it to the wall but have it standing next to the sink.

The Alpine Industries – 1000 ml. Automatic Touchless Liquid Soap Dispenser is a life saver! This is the answer I had been looking for for my bathroom. My kids make such a mess with the soap, all over the counter.

This dispenser is perfect. It dispeneses the right amount of soap and it does it without making a huge mess. It is quiet and sleek looking. I love knowing my loved ones can easily access the correct amount of soap when washing their hands.

It was super easy to install and super easy to fill. I love that the soap is up and out of the way. This is a great product.

So many dispensers are for soap only. I finally found this one for hand sanitizer. I bought it to offer a spritz of sanitizer to guests at a bridal shower. I tested it, and it performed perfectly. I really appreciated that there was an on/off button on the bottom of the dispenser.

I’ve only had this dispenser for a few weeks, so far so good. I will re-rate in the future and I hope that it lives up to the reviews. My experience with these touchless soap dispensers has not been great, they stop working within a year, so I’m hoping that this one will be different.

Super easy to set up! It is ready to use after just following a few simple steps on the instruction. This is also perfect to use in kitchen when your hands are fully covered by dirt or oil and you don’t wanna touch anything to get soap cleaning your hand.

I was excited to try this soap dispenser in my office. Its a perfect Dispenser with a stand. The height was great as well. The refills are easy to change out. I like that it doesn’t make a mess when you use the soap dispenser.

The Aspen soap dispenser and stand really gave my new business gave the measures I needed to make sure that my new business was safe from bacteria and disease. With COVID being an issue it was great to be able to give my customers and employees a way to keep their hands clean at outside events.

It wasn’t big and bulky and it was super easy to use and transport.

Poor quality. We purchased 5 soap dispensers for our home. 2 stopped working within a few weeks, 2 more after a couple months. The company shipped us 3 replacements. 1 of the new ones didn’t work right out of the box.

Do not recommend. Buy another brand that actually makes quality productsUPDATE: Now the last 2 working dispensers, 1 quit working. That is 1 out of 8 remain operational. Not the best Quality Product by any means.

You are filling landfills with these devices.

We’ve had several other touch-less soap dispensers and they all were o. k. until the moisture infiltrated the battery compartments, which were always located in the unit’s bases. That would happen within a month or so.

We had tried 3 other brands/models also available on Ebay. This Secura has the batteries placed higher up, in the back side. The unit is also a bit larger than others & is more stable on the counter than smaller units.

I find myself more likely to swipe a gob of soap from this one than others we’d had that were shorter & didn’t have the hand clearance and seemed more likely to tip over if bumped. The higher battery location is the best feature, compared to others.

I have had a few different ones and this one is the most practical. I love the flow adjustment on it. May not be as attractive as others but much more functional than any of the others. I like the large reservoir for the soap, too and it is very light but steady on the countertop.

No worries about it falling over. And a nice seller, too!.

Great dispenser. We switched all of our common restrooms over to this system. Battery lasts a long time each bag dispenses 1,300 time before needing to be replaced. Cuts down on wasteful usage and is more sanitary then contact systems.

We will continue to purchase these units. I highly recommend them.

Great product, somhappy that I decided to go with the automatic. No wasteful pumps (one pump automatically is all that you need). It’s not overly large too. So great for smaller restrooms. Nicely designed.

These may be a less expensive soap dispenser option, but they work as intended and they are super easy to install. Don’t let another company talk you into spending $4/month for their “fancy” colorful dispensers.

These work just as well for a fraction of the cost.

I love the clean look of this soap dispenser which will be used in my new kitchen. Love the Umbra soap dispensers. This is the fifth in my house. I have them in all my bathrooms and now one for my kitchen.

My wife and I have used simplehuman electronic soap dispensers now for around twenty years, always using nothing but rechargeable batteries, by the way, and we’ve always enjoyed them. This latest sensor pump is, we think, the best version yet! The new design is quite sleek, attractive, and functional.

The built-in rechargeable battery eliminates the need to change rechargeable batteries along with the need for any type of removable closure to gain access to a battery compartment. The top closure simply lifts off for soap refilling and presses securely back into place once refilling is complete—no more screw-on caps or curvaceous, sometimes hard to handle, press-on caps.

The built-in funnel underneath the top closure is a big help during refilling. The new rotating arms which move quietly inside the unit to depress and release a tube to draw soap up and out of the dispenser’s nozzle works quite well, dispensing neat little droplets of soap.

And the sensor is now not only a motion sensor, but also a proximity sensor so one can adjust the amount of soap needed to clean ones hands on demand, rather than having to preset a flow amount—that’s another adjustment knob/setting users don’t have to worry about! This item represents a truly excellent design upgrade, so why not five stars? The power button on the soap dispenser doesn’t always turn on or off with a single depression.

A power button ought to work with just one press without having to press in just the right place to get it to work, and that part of the design needs some attention. Also, although I assume that the USB power cord that ships with the unit for recharging will work with either a phone, tablet, or other small device charging block, there’s nothing, at least when I last checked, in the online FAQs nor in my copy of the instruction manual that shipped with our units (we bought three) which provides any guidance about the use of the cord.

It would be nice to have that direction. Lastly, I’d love it if simplehuman would rewrite their manual for this item to include not only charging cord info, but also add the online FAQs to the manual, as well.

Getting all the information we need to use, maintain, and troubleshoot our new items from the moment we unpack them would be deeply appreciated. I love the rechargeable sensor pump. I own battery operated simplehuman pumps and they’re great, but I don’t like changing batteries because it’s a messy process (turning it upside down, getting soap everywhere, etc.

). The rechargeable option solves that problem. Here are the only things that could be improved with this unit (none that are unbearable. this is still a great pump): * there’s no soap level indicator.

The unit is solid and no see through levels, so you’re always guessing when you need to refill. * there’s no “battery low” warning. When it’s done, it’s done and you have to use manual pumps when charger wears out.

but it’s not often because it lasts a long time. * the amount/volume dispense method doesn’t work great, but it’s an awesome idea. When using a bottle brush or sponge (for dish soap), the sensor doesn’t work when the brush/sponge is far away (for a lot of soap), and it requires multiple short-shot dispenses.

This is exactly what I wanted!!! Don’t be fooled or waste money on the cheaper battery operated models. Some of them have poor features for dispensing. They also don’t work well with rechargeable batteries and with short lifespan when using batteries which is a waste all around.

That’s what led me here! This has everything I’ve been missing from my old battery operated automatic soap dispenser from 20 years ago. I love the adjustable dispenser modes without having to touch anything.

The fact that it holds so much soap, you can go weeks without refilling it and is so easy by just removing the magnetic top. What can I say about the rechargeable feature? lts designed, they say, to lasts 3 months on one charge.

It has been almost 3 months and I have not had to recharge it yet. The only tiny thing maybe to further enhance this beautiful product could be to add a rubber flap cover for the rechargeable connectors on the back.

We’ve had no leaking or other issues after hundreds of miles of bumpy travel. Over all, a much better option for the thin walls in an RV. We opted to screw them to the wall for easy removal of needed, though I think the sticky backing it came with would work fine (but horrendous to remove).

I was needlessly concerned about the less sanitary operation of this versus the touch less one. You use the palm of your hand to push out the allotted foam and then wash, so any cross contamination is rinsed off right away.

Added bonuses: Where noise pollution is a constant issue in an RV, this avoids the motor dispensing sound of the automatic kind. You can also easily (and cheaply) change out your foam soap for whatever your current fancy is.

I got a pair of these refillable foam soap dispensers for each of our bathrooms. I mount them on the wall next to the vanity. It makes it easy for guests and ourselves to remember to wash hands and use soap.

Sometimes, we end up having too many things on the counter of the vanity and the soap bottle can get lost in the mess. This way, the soap is on the wall and is in everyone’s line of sight. It works well and dispenses a good amount for washing hands.

These are commercial quality but works just as well in a residential bathroom.

This soap dispenser has served me well. I’m a cook and the convenience of an automatic soap dispenser is a real bonus especially when working with chicken. Or coming in with dirt laden garden hands. It never fails.

This is perfect near my kitchen sink so with dirty hands you just place hands under the spout and out comes soap. You can decide how much to have dispensed as well.

Have only been using a month but wash hands several times per day, and it holds so much soap that I haven’t had to refill yet. Attractive design, I don’t use the caddy because it’s in a bathroom but it would be very efficient for a sponge or pad in a kitchen.

This is much much bigger than I anticipated. Even though I have a huge counter and big double sink the soap dispenser looks gigantic and extremely out of place. It looks so bad that I did not and will not use it.

Unfortunately I wasted all that money on this and I will not be using it. I love all my other Umbra products, I guess this is the kind of item that you should buy in person and not online.

Both dispensers do not work, bought expensive batteries to use with them and they make the sound like theyre going to put out soap but dont. I got one to finally give some soap and its a trickle even after adjusting the dispense amount.

Thats how many days this lasted before becoming inoperable. the soap dispenser amount adjuster does not function well. it cannot be adjusted as advertised. i like the product though idea. just get another brand.

I bought 3 of these pumps in 2018 and loved them. One was a little glitchy in the shower and would squirt soap out randomly, but I learned to live with it. All 3 of them died at the same time, last month, so for a modern convenience product that’s good value.

However. after receiving this latest version, I am definitely not in love anymore. I charged it and filled it with soap, and put it at the bathroom sink. While I was not anywhere near it – and I live alone, no pets, nothing else that would trigger it – it sprayed a considerable puddle of soap onto the counter.

So I turned it off. And have to now leave it off, otherwise it randomly sprays soap. When I need some soap, I put my hand under the nozzle, turn it on, it sprays into my hand a random amount of soap (no matter where I hold my hand) and random number of times while the blue light is on for about 5 seconds, and the moment that light is off, I press the button on the back, the red light comes on, and it’s turned off.

Definitely not convenient this way. Definitely not worth $90 CAD. I will be deciding in the next week whether I will continue to bother with it or return it.

I have always had a sensor pump from simple human, the one we need to change the batteries. Upgraded to rechargeable ones and thought the chrome look would match the kitchen sink area. Looks good, however when kept in the kitchen sink area near the tap(not too close), the sensor acts funny.

It keeps dispensing soap even when there’s no hand in front of the sensor. I thought it could be because of the flow of the tap water and have placed it further away from the tap. The other problem is that even when hand is placed higher near the spout of the dispenser a huge amount is dispensed.

The non rechargeable sensor pump wormed well where you could control the quantity and reduce it to 2 drops on soap. For the price I am not happy with the way it’s working. It looks like I have paid for the rechargeable unit.

But its sensor pump functionality is flawed. Unfortunately even before trying the rechargeable pump(based on my good experience with the battery operated sensor pump) I have given this as gifts to family last Christmas.

Why change a perfectly good product and make it worse?? No way of controlling the amount of soap it dispenses and no way of knowing how much soap is in the pump! When I put my hand as close to the sensor as is possible, loads comes out, just as much as when I put my hand further down away from the sensor!? There’s no difference which means it’s going to use the soap up really quickly.

I much prefer the old system where you could control the amount of soap by pressing a button. You could also see how much soap was in the pump. now you won’t know until it runs out. I had to buy a new one cos my old one is clogged up.

even tho you advertise them as clog free yet have instructions on your website for what to do if it gets clogged up 🙈 which btw didn’t work to unclog my old one. I asked for help on your facebook page but I just got a generic reply which didn’t answer my question as to why loads of soap dispenses regardless of how close you are to the sensor.

When I replied to the generic reply, I just got ignored. not good enough!! I also see you only sell the pouches of soap in packs of 3 now instead of just one. is this because you know we are all going to run out of soap a lot quicker with this new inferior updated version?? I don’t want to buy 3 at a time but tbh I am not using the pump because every time I do, I just get wound up about the huge amount of soap it’s dispensing that’s being wasted.

This is exactly what I was looking for! A touch free soap dispenser that doesn’t look like it was designed in the ‘60 (not that I don’t like retro style, but the ones that I stumbled upon didn’t look appealing at all).
