One of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from the harmful effects of wildfire smoke is to use an air purifier. Air purifiers work by removing harmful particles from the air, including smoke, so that you can breathe easier and stay healthy.
There are a variety of air purifiers on the market, so it’s important to choose one that is specifically designed to remove smoke. Look for an air purifier with a high CADR rating, which indicates the unit’s ability to clean the air of particulate matter.

Pros: —Purchased my 211+ Auto directly from Blueair in July 2021 and several months later the control button on top of unit stopped working. It happens – an inconvenience but not a big deal. Contacted Blue Air and a replacement unit was shipped out to me and I returned the original unit at no cost to me.
Kudos to Blue Air folks for honoring their warranty and replacing my faulty unit promptly! —Love the fact that Blueair offers a “First responders” and “Military personnel” discount – much appreciated! —The 211+ Auto moves a lot of air on the second speed without too much white noise which is what I was looking for in an air purifier! The unit sucks in air from all four sides of the machine and sends air out of the top of the machine – nice.
—This unit was recommended by Consumer Reports as was the 211+. However, the Auto version is more energy efficient and has a sensor with an “Auto” speed setting which are the primary reasons I chose it over the 211+.
Cons: —The prefilter skirt does not hold up very well. After weekly vacuuming and washing it every few months the stitching comes loose. I have purchased two OEM replacements during the past year and I recommend having a spare on hand for when needed.
—The OEM filter that came with my first unit was great. I cranked the air purifier up and the air coming out of the top of the unit smelled fresh and clean. Unfortunately, the OEM filter that came with my replacement unit had a sour smell that lasted about 2-3 weeks before it dissipated.
I had hoped that was just a one off situation. However, the brand new OEM filter that I recently installed also has that same sour smell (it is hard to forget). My unit has been running 24/7 for almost a week so I am thinking that I am going to need to wait another week like the last time before the sour smell subsides.
I find it ironic that OEM filters that are supposed to improve air quality by reducing air particles and odors actually created bad odors during the initial weeks of use in my case. I have thought about trying a third party compatible filter but I read that will void my warranty and I suspect that the filter specs would be different from a third party supplier anyway.
There is a lot to like about this machine but I hate to think that I may need to repeat this process when I install a new Blueair OEM filter. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this otherwise excellent air purifier until I am confident that the filter odor issue I experienced with two out of three filters has been resolved.
I have another sealed back-up OEM filter that I purchased and will see how that filter performs when I install it in approximately 6 months. I plan on doing a review update at that time.
I bought a 211+ last fall and was so pleased with the performance that I decided to buy a second unit for the family room. Instead I bought a 211+ Auto and the improvement over an already awesome machine in kind of mind-blowing.
The older unit is in the family room in the basement and I put the new 211+Auto in the living room. It’s so so so quiet. But I love the way it kicks in when it senses pollutants/irritants in the air.
If I cook anything that smokes (e. g. , tortillas in a cast iron pan), I can hear the Auto kick into a higher gear until it has cleaned the air sufficiently and lowers the fan automatically. The effectiveness of the filters is good enough that I’ve seen a clear improvement in my allergies and a decrease in my need for extra allergy meds.
Typically in the spring and summer I need to double my allergy meds (2x per day) to keep my asthma under control but I’ve only needed a second dose once or twice this year! I also love the pre-filters.
It’s easy to see when it’s time to change the pre-filter. They’re easy to change, easy to wash, and a great way to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the units. Finally, I appreciate the filter replacement subscription.
It significantly reduces the mental & organizational friction of maintaining the units and keeps my indoor air quality as high as possible year round. When I received my first replacement filter, I thought to myself, meh, it hasn’t been THAT long; maybe I can save some money and squeeze a little more time out of the old filter.
Then I compared the old filter to the new one and the difference between the two made it clear that 1) the filter had worked hard for 6 months, and 2) a new filter would ensure continued good results.
I purchased the Pure 211+Auto about a month ago after researching air purifiers reviews. We live in East Texas, where we have beautiful spring blooms, but horrible pollen problems almost year round, especially in the spring.
Since using Blueair Pure+Auto, our allergies are significantly reduced this spring. I particularly like that this model automatically adjusts to the amount of particulate matter in the air. When I initially set it up and turned it on, it ran on a more robust speed with the yellow indicator showing, but since then it has been on a low quiet setting with the blue indicator on.
The purifier is very quiet; we don’t even notice it in the at night during sleep hours. I had bought a purifier years ago, but it wasn’t that efficient and was loud, like a blower dryer on low setting.
Another aspect that I like about this purifier is that it is made for a specific size room, so you’re not buying a model that is over or under the air space capacity that can happen with a “one-size fits all” purifier.
The ALEN BreatheSmart 75i offers our most advanced air purification technology, is designed with ingenuity, and available with a true HEPA air filter that captures 99. 97% of particles up to. 3 microns.

Love that the wood paneled front matches my other finishings and makes this unit look very sleek in my home. Also love the light indicators, which conveniently and accurately show how much & just how badly the air quality changes.
The light range goes: purple (worst) – red – orange – green – blue (best). I use my purifier nonstop in a 590sq. ft. studio condo that is on a shared HVAC vent system in a very large (300+ unit) building; I often find a lot of dust and debris from other units get blown into mine as a result.
So it took some time for the purifier light to turn from purple to green, and still has yet to hit blue, but I blame the building ventilation system and construction in my adjacent neighbor’s unit, and not my Alen purifier.
Here’s another reason why. Before using this, my cat was starting to get bad coughing attacks that seemed to get worse in the weeks after we moved in. I was also waking up unusually congested every morning and sometimes noticing this midday as well.
Since using this, even at times when the light indicator is orange (just ‘average’ quality), my cat is no longer coughing, and I can actually breathe when I wake up. I’m looking forward to finding out how our breathing will improve further once this purifier hits blue.
I should also note that, in such a small, open layout space, the purifier did seem pretty loud at purple and even red, but is mere white noise at orange, and I barely notice it at green. Can’t wait to (not) hear this at all once it hits blue.
Based on how much crud it has captured on the prefilter in the first month alone, this purifier is clearly doing its job. All in all, my household has experienced obvious improvements in air quality since getting this purifier and have no regrets about going with this model for our space!.
The fundamental purpose of an air purifier is to, well, purify the air with a near second to do so quietly/pleasantly enough that people can bear to have it on. The 75i seems to do that very well so far, based not on its own monitoring but secondary air quality monitors I have set up in my home.
It also looks as nice as hoped for, to the extent people seeing it for the first time don’t recognize it as an air purifier at all. Combined with long filter life and it’s a winner on that front. One star off though for a truly mediocre control system.
Touch doesn’t mean responses have to wait multiple seconds per tap (one doesn’t even know if they pressed it successfully because sometimes it doesn’t register at all), or that there can’t be any sort of haptic feedback or even raised bumps to help feel where they are.
Shockingly, and unlike the 45i, the 75i has no dedicated light control. One has to use the power button which is unintuitive and leads to turning it off trying to get the light back on, and it can only be off or full brightness not dimmed.
In no way a deal breaker, but surprisingly grating in a premium highest end air purifier. Again though not a deal breaker at all, once you have it set up its job is to just stay on quietly 99. 5% of the time, and the controls are serviceable enough.
The lights can be 100% turned off, which is the most important thing. So I’d absolutely still pick this model again for living spaces; the sheer capability combined with aesthetics is a solid package.
This thing (Alen 75i) is unbelievable. I originally bought this as my wife has struggled with allergies for years and now takes allergy shots and over-the-counter allergy medication too. It only takes about 20 minutes for you notice that breathing becomes so much easier and it feels as though your lungs are a lot clearer.
I noticed it almost immediately and could not believe that it made such a huge difference is so little time. My wife and I love the 75i. I got one for her home office and we have one in the master bedroom.
I even sent my parents one. They are old school skeptics and did not even open the box for the first two days even though I asked to just give it a 30-minute try. They immediately noticed a difference and love theirs.
I had a Blue Air purifier maybe a week before I read the Consumer Reports ratings. Once I read that CR scored the Alen 75i higher than the Blue Air I jumped online and ordered one. We were sold on the Blue Air because it too cleans the air however the Alen is so much quieter and it is a solid machine which seems as though it would last longer than the Blue Air.
Again, I’m not knocking the Blue air Purifier but we use that in the basement where we have our gym because it is louder. The Alen 75i looks gorgeous with the Graphite Cover and the Filters are substantial.
I got the annual automatic filter renewal too. We have Alen 75i purifiers in the office for my wife, the master bedroom, and the family room. This has truly been a blessing. My wife has significantly less allergy symptoms and it significantly improves the quality of your sleep.
My favorite new household item! My son suffers from terrible allergies. He has about 15 and most of those are related to mold dust and dander. We have a dog and we had no idea that the allergies were related to her so to have an air purifier that actually helps my son to not sneeze is so important.
It’s a quiet machine it filters the air and I’m always worried about it because we have a dog and fish and I cook a lot. We also leave the doors open and any of the other natural allergens are in our house at any given time because the windows are open.
Some seasons have been harder but this little machine has been really awesome. It was so easy that my 10-year-old set it up for me. It really took about 10 minutes or less to get it going and we use it as needed but it works.
I also like that there is an app. It makes it really easy to control and there is a way you can lock it on top so if you have a baby or a little one who likes to play with buttons it doesn’t even look like it’s on, the lights go dim and you can’t see that it’s on.
It’s actually really cool. I’m really impressed of the technology and absolutely love this air purifier. What a difference it makes!.
I bought a Levoit 400S and 2 smaller Winix units at Home Depot. The Levoit 400S is excellent and the controls and features are nice. I like the particulate counter and the easy to understand air quality ring indicators.
The unit is very quiet at low speeds but still moves a good amount of air. Also excels at removing cooking odors. The 2 Winix units I was not so pleased with. They were noisier and one was vibrating excessively; from a mechanical viewpoint that is a bad sign.
So I replaced both Winix with the Levoit 400S, now I have 3 and I am very pleased. Of course the local Home Depot having the 400S on sale for $99. 99 also helped. I researched the Levoit brand and was sold on all of the positive reviews and awards.
This all started with me viewing the Hunter HP450 on HSN; I feel like I got a much better product in the form of the Levoit 400S. I don’t mind the bigger size 400S for the bedrooms they are so good and quiet they are worth making room for.
But of corse if that is an issue Levoit has a smaller unit that I am sure is just as excellent.

We love BlueAir all around and have purchased a number of purifiers for different spaces. We are in the San Francisco Bay Area and are again getting swamped with smoke from wildfires. When it comes to filtering out particulate matter, these are fantastic.
Our 480i is the first smart purifier we’ve purchased and the sensors measure a variety of air pollutants (eg PMs and tVOC). The issue I find with this smart purifier is that the sensors indicate tVOCs as one number (per the app) and, according to a BlueAir rep, this single tVOC number captures a number of VOCs including moisture and CO2.
As our 480i is in our garage home gym, the tVOC reading via the app can often show the air is “polluted” or is “very polluted”, and we’re not sure if this is because of moisture or CO2 in the air, or is in fact VOCs from wildfires or industrial off gassing.
The 480i can pick up that there are VOCs, in other words, but doesn’t determine or distinguish what VOCs they are (we can live with airborne moisture and CO2, but would be concerned if the VOCs were not so innocuous).
So, the combination of fairly innocuous gasses and those that are less so (ie more toxic VOCs) that are represented by one tVOC number make the VOC sensors and data relatively moot when it comes to monitoring air quality.
Additionally, running the 480i on full blast does nothing to lessen the tVOC number and leaves it a mystery as to whether or not the filter is actually absorbing toxic VOCs as it should, or not, or is and is just not mitigating the moisture or CO2 components.
Long story short, we trust that the 480i does a great job filtering PMs, but we don’t trust it’s efficacy at reducing VOCs.
I have had this unit for approximately a month. I bought it to supplement two larger (680i) units that I have in bigger areas of my small home. The 280i unit fits well into a small bedroom at the end of a hallway.
I have it positioned within a few feet of the open doorway, so that it also brings in some of the air from the hallway. Although it is not as powerful or effective as the two 680i units I own, it really works well for this specific purpose, and in conjunction with the larger units, it really contributes to keeping my indoor air quality high.
The unit was easy to set up and connect to the internet. I keep it on automatic most of the time, but if the air doesn’t seem fresh enough, I turn it up to the second level on manual. I never need to run it on the highest setting, and thus far the automatic setting has kept it on the lowest setting at all times.
I bought this a month ago, with a smokestop filter. I got it for a house that routinely gets filled with smoke and perfume. Its a shared house, sadly, with very little ventilation. When the house fills with smoke, I notice the smoke smell isn’t less when the 405 is on.
its different. It changes the smell, like there’s a component of it missing. I think the filter is super effective at removing some components of smoke, but not effective at removing the smallest. It does remove large allergens still.
Basically, the machine works. Just not fully. It works well enough for me to recommend. But if you have MCS and need TOTAL filtration, avoid this model.
Provide cleaner air for your family with a purifier that blends right in with your home. Captures over 99% of 0. 3 micron particles or larger. Monitor and receive air quality feed back with Automated CirQulate system.
3 State filtration with activated carbon filter fabric pre-filter and high efficiency filter. Soft touch fan speed dial. Automated night mode and whisper-quiet operation. Front panel filter access. Ideal for large rooms up to 1000 square feet.
Mid-century design with modern accent legs. Dimensions: 14. 5″W x 8. 5″D x 25″H.
Overall, this non-“Max”, non-wifi version is a solid performer that’s sharply distinguished by a modernist aesthetic that suites a wide variety of interiors and styles. That thoughtful design extends to its utilitarian, no-nonsense tech features, which work and respond seamlessly.
The true HEPA and activated carbon filters are sizeable, robust and enable this unit to handle rooms up 1000 sq. ft. The auto and sleep modes tend to maintain a low volume; its highest speeds can get fairly loud but are hardly ever necessary.
Generally, aside from filter changes, which are a breeze, the only thing that might interrupt its set-and-forget experience is catching a glint of its stylish looks as you walk by. There are, of course, some alternatives: Coway’s Mighty and 200M perform better in small rooms and tend to be exceptionally quiet; but they do look like appliances.
The Blue Pure 211+ has a tweedlike appearance that’s almost as attractive and should perform better in larger rooms, which the far pricier Coway Airmega 300-400 range definitely would. But if you’re an interior design aficionado and not the world’s lightest sleeper who plans to park your purifier inches away from your head at night, the Bissell Air320 is an excellent choice.
This stays on “Auto” Mode year round in my main living area for general air cleaning. But, here in Oregon sadly our wildfire season has gotten worse and worse each year. Last year was the worst I had ever seen it.
When my regular old WINIX HEPA and air washers just couldn’t seem to keep up with demand of the smoke seeping into the home knew I had to finally upgrade. All the local store were even sold out of furnace filter because people were buying those to strap onto box fans in hopes of doing makeshift filters.
Bissell truly saved the day with dropping this produced when they did and what a quality one at that. I was in love with the style at first sight but it is truly where form meets function so a round of applause to the design team! Now over a year later I have moved home and am sadly dealing with a landlord that is refusing to handle very long established mold issues that I sadly moved into discover.
So it’s a second Bissell Air Purifier to the rescue while this gets handled through the sadly slow legal and code enforcement process. Oh and even the Mold specialist that I had to have come do all the test was amazed by it and asked that I send her the link to the product so I could get the points or rewards for her buying one too(hint, hint, nudge, nudge, Bissell that would be cool if you offered a referral rewards program for customers).
Anyways, thank you Bissell for at least giving me some peace of mind for my children and myself.
Although this isn’t really a quiet device, I’m still giving it 5 stars. The fan noise is noticeable but it isn’t annoying or preventing you from watching TV or Talking. I purchased this purifier for Cigar smoking in the basement during the winter months and have been using it about 2 months.
I don’t leave it running all the time but I do keep it running on high while I’m enjoying a stogie. It does a really good job keeping up with 2 smokers when I have company. Some cigar scent always lingers so I run the purifier when I’m in the basement and it cycles through pretty well.
I like that the filter access is exceedingly easy as it just pops off from the front with a slight pull. I wasn’t sure I would like the look of it with brown legs, gray screening and beige white housing but it actually blends in well with about any surroundings.
The rotator dial makes for easy use of setting the fan to a particular speed or automatic. Obviously, when I’m enjoying a cigar, this thing is running at full speed, but once I’m done, it will gradually cycle down and get back to the low setting in about an hour.
I use it in a large open basement of about 600 sqft. I saw some reviews mentioned that they had power supply issues but I’ve not experienced any of that. This does better than what Ihad expected.

Great filter, however a little bit expensive to run on fan speed 6 all the time. Supplies will get expensive to keep up the course prefilter, fine prefilter, V5 core and HEPA filters all in good shape.
I highly recommend the PF40 Kit if you have pets as well it will capture all sorts of hair etc before it clogs the prefilter in the unit. Tested the unit with the Sensirion Particulate Matter Sensor SPS30.
Placing the unit directly on top of the HEPA filter, and letting it run for a few days all readings were zero on the filter from PM1. 0-PM10. 0. The only minor issues we have with our two units are the wireless remotes, the IR receiver is on the top of the unit, which means you have to be well above the unit pointing down.
I wish they would put better receiver or just switch to RF and leave the 80’s with IR remotes in the past. I would gladly pay $10-20 more for that. The other thing is the display, it really needs to be backlit or at least back light when you push a button.
The contrast isn’t the best and seeing it in anything other than really bright light is tough when you at that more mature age! The biggest thing would be integration ability into home automation. With many of our systems being controlled through home assistant, having these on there would be great.
Also integration of even SPS30 installed and sending stats both pre and post filters would be great as well. The unit does a great job, but modernization with tech would make it the best or the ability to control and see stats through an app or home automation.
I PURCHASED THE IQAIR HEALTH PRO HEPA AIR PURIFIER FOR MY HOME DAYCARE AND IMMEDIATELY FELT A DIFFERENCE IN THE FACILITY. THE AIR FEELS MORE CLEAN AND I DON’T HAVE A STUFFY NOSE AS I OFTEN HAVE. THE UNIT RUNS FLAWLESSLY AND IS PRETTY QUIET ON LEVEL FOUR AND A BIT MORE LOUD ON LEVEL FIVE WHICH ISN’T AN ISSUE.
I AM SO PROUD TO OWN THE IQAIR HEALTHPRO TO HELP KEEP GERMS AND PARTICLES CLEAN IN MY DAYCARE. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO BUY AGAIN. ONE OF MY COLLEAGUES HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED AND RECEIVED HERS AFTER SEEING MINE ASKING ABOUT IT THAT SHE CALLED AND THANKED ME!! I HAVE PLACED MINE WITHOUT THE CASTERS ON TOP OF MY FILE CABINET, I LIKE HOW VERSATILE IT IS FOR PLACEMENT AND THE REMOTE IS A PLUS AND IT’S GREAT THAT BUYING NEW FILTERS ARE NOT YEARLY.
I ALSO LIKE THE SLEEK AND MODERN LOOK. THANKS IQAIR FOR MAKING THE BEST HEPA AIR PURIFIER!!.

I like the Coway 300 for use in my living room. I have allergies, and the 300 really helps. I have an 18 ft. ceiling in this room, and my Coway 200M and Mighty models just couldn’t handle the large space.
The main living room is open to the kitchen and dining rooms, and I have the smaller models in those locations as well. The 300 produces the identical noise level as the smaller models at speed 2. I normally run the smaller Coways at lower speeds (1 or 2) , since they are just too noisy at the max speed.
The 300 produces the same CFM at speed 2 as the 200M and the Mighty at speed 3. I don’t find the 200M speed 3 useful under normal circumstances, but it is really needed for large spaces. The 300 works great at speed 2 with noise at a tolerable level.
You can’t even tell if it is on when at speed 1. Most importantly, the 300 lets me breathe and lets us watch TV or talk at speed 2. It is expensive, but worth it. I should mention that I checked the noise levels with a sound pressure meter, so I am not speculating about the db levels for my Coways.
The sometimes recommendation to buy two smaller air purifiers instead of one large one for a big room ignores the fact that two machines will increase the noise level if in the same room. The Coway 300 is highly recommended for a large space.
Not cheap but good build quality, very stylish, and the “smart” auto sensing feature works perfectly. It is REALLY quiet on the low setting. more so than other units. The high setting makes some noise but is very effective and doesn’t stay on long.
I want it to be loud and quickly effective when there is smoke in the room. I was gong to give 4 stars because of value. but there are not better value products on the market. One can spend the same or more on an inferior unit.
I did find one manufacturer of cheap units that is pretty good. Those are the 2 I recommend. I would never buy anything else. All the big names you know. forget it. They have sold their soul. they make cheap junk at a high price.
At least Coway is a straightforward and fair transaction. I have two units (a 300 and a 400) and I would buy again.

Air purifiers can provide an added layer of protection to help reduce potential viral exposure. Molekle has not been tested on the Covid-19 virus.
After having bought an older Molekule years ago and being happy with it, we decided to splurge and buy the Air Pro. The unit worked fine at first, but suddenly started showing a “very bad” air reading every single day.
On the “auto protect” function, the unit is as loud as a jet engine in our house. (We live in a brand new gut renovated house with new HVAC, only two people, no smoking, and use natural cleaning products).
After going through months of painful trouble shooting with customer service, countless calls and emails, speaking to a different agent each time, we still haven’t found a solution and I’ve been essentially told I am stuck with the broken unit due to the return policy.
I sincerely hope this does not happen to someone else as it’s very frustrating and expensive. Please consider this review as a warning prior to purchasing a Molekule. I wish I had considered some of the competitors such as Coway AP-1512HH Mighty, Winix 5500-2, Blueair Blue Pure 311 Auto, or the Levoit Core 400S.
And now, according to Molekule, I am simply stuck with a broken unit. Terrible experience! Buyer beware!.
While the core function of cleaning the air appears to work, the software on the unit and the app are only intermittently functioning. More than a few times the unit shows an error on its display that reports “no filter installed!” even though the unit has remained untouched and if I could speak to it, I would assure it that does in fact contain a filter.
I might say “Molekule, look within, look inside yourself. You will find all you need there. ” So that’s frustrating. A second unit, an Air Mini+ will periodically report the air quality to be terrible.
Leaving the unit in automatic results in the unit running at maximum speed and it sounds like an aircraft engine. Needless to say, there is nothing in this bedroom that would produce “terrible” air quality and the other Molekules in the house, including one close to the kitchen that might periodically reasonably detect poor air quality operate merrily along, reporting air quality is “good”.
When my family and I first moved into our home, the air felt musky/ dense/ allergy triggers were through the roof! After cleaning the air ducts and changing the furnace filter we thought that would suffice.
unfortunately, that was not enough. We bought cheaper “knockoff” molekules but only noticed a difference for a short period of time (weeks if we were lucky). So my wife and I took a leap faith and purchased a mini molukule for our room.
What a difference! My wife’s allergy triggers miraculously went away after 24 hours of the unit being on continuously. She used to take an antihistamine DAILY for years! Now she might take it once or twice a month? We ended up getting a bigger unit for our living room and our girls’ room as well and it’s made leap and bounds in our household.
The app is intuitive and the “auto” filter replacement option is wonderful because I always forget to change it per manufacturer’s recommendation. It may feel like a steep price but if your allergy triggers are as bad as ours, then it’s all worth it.

I gave a three star review because it is hard to evaluate the filter and because I think I was directed to the wrong filter when I called. My situation is probably different than most. I wanted the best activated charcoal filter I could find to hopefully absorb low volatility compounds coming from under my foundation.
When I got the filter and read the owners booklet I realized that it probably was not what I needed not having much activated charcoal and wanted to send back, but didn’t attempt to do that. I need to do another air quality test to see if there is any improvement at all.
Testing costs around $400. Also have new HVAC system so would be testing combination of changes. Took me awhile to get use to the noise as it is very loud, but have adjusted to that. Took a little time to learn the sensitivity of on-off switch.
Actually thought it was “broken” briefly because I had trouble turning on and adjusting fan level. Cools the bedroom at night and I’m sure takes out micro-particles as it is moving large volume of air with a HEPA filter.
These are being advertised for a room size of 878 square feet, but I just got four units today, and right on the box it is claiming: Air cleaner suggested closed room size 363 SQUARE FEET. That is quite a difference! I bought these based on those advertised specs as to the size of the room they would cover, and now I am seeing that they over sold the specs more than TWICE of what could actually be expected! Apparently Oransi is not using the AHAM rating for their advertising, so when comparing with other brands, make sure you are comparing apples to apples.
I am rejecting the acceptance of these four units I was sent, because, in my opinion, they were advertised and sold to me under apparent false pretenses. IMHO.
I ordered the mod jr. HEPA air purifier and it was delivered to my door within 3 days! This is my first air purifier and and I am really impressed with the quality of the unit. I run the mod jr. on the medium setting and I cannot believe how quiet it is! That was the main thing I worried about.
how loud the unit would be while running. At night, especially in the bedroom, I put the fan on a low setting and it is like a whisper. After owning for a week, I can say that I am very happy that I purchased this air purifier and would recommend to others.
I may buy the larger unit for my living room area.
The combination of 360-degree air intake and 3-stage filtration process makes this small air purifier ideal for allergy and asthma relief. Can clean the air 115 times each day in a 106 square foot room.
Eco Silver pre-filter prevents the growth of bacteria and viruses with silver nanoparticles. Coconut carbon pre-filter neutralizes harmful VOCs and household odors from cooking, cleaning, smoking and pets.
True HEPA filter removes up to 99. 97 percent of airborne particles as small as 0. 3 microns including smoke, dust, pollen, pet hair and dander, mold spores and dust mite debris. Features soft touch digital control panel, 3 fan speeds, sleep mode, whisper quiet operation, timer, filter replacement indicator and LED accent light.
Two of us have asked this question and it remains unanswered. Is there a trick to opening the base filter cover? We have tried to turn the cover in the direction of the arrow “open” but it just won’t turn.
I have even used a silicone gripper using moderate strength. Of course by the time I checked this out the expiration date has passed. Who knew that we should try to open it ahead of the expiration date? I suppose I’m more disappointed that two customers have asked this question now and no one from C.
S. or Hunter has answered. Just a tip, more of a warning, although the unit seems to be working well with purification, the filter can’t be changed. Try it yourself before the date expires. I don’t like to give the 1 star, but this detail will make the unit inoperable soon.
Maybe if our questions were answered in a more timely matter, this issue could have been resolved already. Check out the questions below before purchasing. Good luck.
Family member has severe allergies to “hypo-allergenic” dogs. This helped tremendously!! Originally purchased a different high-end extremely expensive brand – didn’t help (even with deep cleaning of entire house – furniture flooring, etc).
Family member came home from college and within days, eyes and eyeballs painfully swollen and skin was raw and irritated. The high-end brand didn’t make a difference with allergic reaction. Decided to try this item and soooo grateful we bought it.
Purchased this a couple of days before they came home for a break. After being home for a couple of weeks, only has sporadic mild eye irritation. This truly helps and works! Buy it today!.
I bought one because we have two dogs and they can of course smell and cause lots of dust. We started with it in our living area and quickly decided we needed other places in our house. I went back and bought two more.
One for the kitchen and one for our upstairs bedroom. We both feel it definitely helps with smells and it has cut down on our dust as well. Please bring it back as TSV. My mom needs a couple as she has two dogs also.
She also has allergies. My daughter use to get stuffy when she came over because she has lots of allergies with dog being one of them. I’ve noticed that she’s fine unless she’s already sick. I don’t understand anyone giving it a bad review.
The only change I would make is a little darker at night. We live out in the country so we like it dark as possible but the dimmer is pretty good.
The Home Wrecker is a HEPA + heavy-duty carbon filter to protect you from that “new home” smell. Taking a paintbrush (or sledgehammer) to your place? This filter makes sure the chemicals and odors from new paint, carpet, or furniture don’t linger.
– 300 CADR, meaning it does its best work in smaller living rooms and larger bedrooms – H12 HEPA + 1. 58 lb of formaldehyde targeted carbon – Super power: Formaldehyde and VOC removal.
There are lots of great reviews here. Most fail to speak about what the product does. This is an expensive fan in a box with an air quality meter. It goes on if the air quality is alarmed. It just blows the problematic air around and does ZERO filtering.
I have two Mila units in two small bedrooms. I also bought two expensive medical-grade Air Oasis air purifiers and filters. After seven months, my Mila filters looked precisely the same. After two months, my Air Oasis filters were filthy.
I live in Central Oregon. It’s dusty here. I tried the mid-range Mila filter and the most expensive ones. Same thing. The most costly filters are also sealed at the bottom. So, where is the air pulling? Here’s how I tested: I held a string on all sides of the Mila product.
Outside, bottom, etc. There is ZERO pulling of air from anywhere. It also does not pull air from the top and blows it directly simultaneously. Impossible. So with filters clean after a few months, zero difference in smell, and on Auto mode, a fan speed so slow it does not even blow a piece of paper off the top of the unit, you can be sure that it’s all complete nonsense.
There is no filtration and zero purification. So if you want to avoid paying over $1,000 for Air Oasis, which works and cannot afford Molokule (another nonsensical product with lots of false claims), and you like the cool look of the Mila, then buy it, and call it what it is.
I live in an average-sized NYC apartment. In the master bedroom and my son’s room, we’ve been using Rabbit Air Minus A2 purifiers. The one in master bedroom has been active for over 10 years and while it’s worked well, it leaves a lot of dust on the surrounding walls and furniture because of a built-in ionizer that can’t be turned off.
We’ve been locked down over the past year due to COVID-19 restrictions and over the past month or so, my wife’s and son’s allergies have been acting up when we’re in the living room with one of the windows every so slightly open.
Our finances being what they are, I was hesitant to get another RabbitAir purifier but I was leaning heavily in that direction because I didn’t think I had a choice. THEN, I saw an ad for Mila in facebook feed.
I read everything I could on the Mila site and I was convinced it was the filter for us. The onboard sensors and the info they provide are pretty amazing! It is obviously above and beyond what the RabbitAir could tell us.
We’ve had it running in the living room for over two weeks now and it’s made a huge difference for my wife and son. The sneezing and coughing has basically stopped. There’s noticeably less dust accumulating on furniture.
We also know how ‘dirty’ the air in the hallway is as every time the front door is opened, Mila detects a spike in particulates. I like how there’s a big selection of filters to suit your particular needs.
We went with the Overreactor. Filter changes are much easier than with the RabbitAir. While I like the general design of the Mila unit. I do wish it was available in different colors. Furthermore, I think it would’ve been great if all the panels were removable/replaceable for cleaning purposes as well as aesthetics.
The ability to ‘skin’ Mila with other colors, perhaps even printed patterns/images would be fun, eg. Charlie Brown/Snoopy graphics wrapping all around the unit for a baby’s room. I also wish the master On/Off switch was in the front.
Our original Mila unit turned out to have a faulty presence sensor. I engaged the support team and they confirmed that the sensor was indeed faulty. I was shipped a new unit and was allowed to keep the faulty one running until the new one arrived.
That process was easy and painless. The great support, aesthetics, easy filter replacement and wonderful app are the reasons why we’ll be phasing out our two RabbitAirs for two Mila’s in the very near future.
So far the Mila has been a bit more than I expected in some areas and a bit lacking in others. For the purpose of this review, I have purchased 2 Milas and have them placed on opposite sides of my apartments.
One is in the open living space, and the other is placed in the master bedroom. Things I love about the Mila: 1. It’s a very smart air purifier. This is an underrated quality as you simply don’t find air prurifiers with the sheer amount of features as the Mila at this price point.
2. The app (once you figure it out) is informative and provides unparalleled control over the unit with a host of features to customize the unit to match your desired AQI, noise level, etc. 3. The unit is attractive and easily fits within a modern styled home.
It’s small enough to fit just about anywhere. 4. There is no assembly required other than filter changes. 5. The app and unit itself get constant updates and it is clear the company cares about the product and will continue to build upon it.
6. When I contact customer service, I get an extremely quick response and they have always answered my questions and solved my issues. Things I think can be improved: 1. The accuracy of the sensors is called into question sometimes.
While I trust the ratings regarding AQI as it matches the measurements on other apps, other sensor reading are dubious. For example, the temperature readings on both units do not match each other, nor do they match my thermostat in a relatively medium sized apartment (2 bed, ~1100 sq ft).
The leads me to doubt other readings such as humidity. 2. The app, while chock full of features and usability, does take some learning to take full advantage of. Some settings in the app need more clarity.
For example you select whether you live an apartment or house and select the amount of rooms. Directly below that are “Small, Medium, and Large” but I have no idea which to select because there is no square footage associated with each option.
Is it relative to the apartment/house selection? Is it meant to be correlated to the amount of rooms? Is it square footage based? I have no idea. I wish this were more clear. The rest of the settings are explained well enough, particularly the different settings and modes for what it’s worth.
3. This is less about the unit and more about the company: I wish there was some “my account” feature or something to manage things like filter subscriptions. At the time of my purchase, the filter I desired was out of stock, but that is reasonable due to manufacturing restrictions brought upon by COVID-19.
I believe this is a feature that will be implemented in the future. Overall, I got what I paid for and believe it will only get better from here with updates and developments coming. I’m happy with my purchase and trust the company to solve my few issues.
True-Hepa filter captures 99. 97-percent Of airborne pollutants; dust mites, pet dander, pollen and other allergens as small as 0. 3 Microns Plasmawave acts as a permanent filter to safely break down odor, allergens, chemical vapors and other pollutants, with no harmful ozone Smart sensors gauge the air and our auto mode adjusts the fan to filter the air as needed; with a sleep mode for silent night-time operation Product has no extra filters Product details HEPA Filter · Ozone Free · Permanent Filter · Odor Absorbing · Charcoal Gray · Energy Star Improve indoor air quality with this Winix air purifier.
PlasmaWave technology coupled with carbon and HEPA filters quickly eliminate a variety of allergens, including mold, smoke, pollen, dust and pet dander. This Winix air purifier has an easy-to-use topside control panel, and it’s good for use in almost any medium-to-large space.
Up to 376 sq. ft. purification capacity Ideal for medium and large rooms. Full-function remote Allows you to control your unit’s settings from across the room. True HEPA filter Captures 99. 97% of particles, including pollen, mold, pet dander and dust.
Micron mesh prefilter and washable deodorizing filter help remove irritants and odors from the air. Know when to change a filter A light indicator turns on when the filter needs to be replaced. Variable speed selector Allows you to easily choose 4 fan speeds for custom operation.
I have 2 of these in my small bedroom, and 5 more of these throughout my small one-bedroom apartment. These have worked perfectly to help filter out pathogens like viruses, dust, and germs. I breathe a lot better, too.
Because I have so many in my small apartment, I turn off the Plasmawave feature for most, so as not to create too much ozone in my apartment. I typically have these running all the time, with 3 out of 4 on the fan level.
I follow the instructions on how to clean the prefilter and carbon filter. I replace the filters about once every 6 to 9 months, especially after a brutal wildfire season. I have these going at full blast whenever I have any visitors in my apartment, or whenever I’m doing a lot of in-and-out of my apartment for tasks such as getting packages from the mailroom and retrieving door deliveries.
So far, these have kept me virus-free for the past few years. (I must also say that I mask everywhere I go, I allow fresh air inside when others enter my apartment, and I require mask wearing for anyone who enters my apartment, which are layered approaches to helping me reduce viral risk, in addition to using the air purifiers.
I’m disabled, so I spend most of my time home alone, too. But I feel more secure with having these air purifiers aid in keeping my air clean. ) Also, I still have to dust and clean the baseboards, but not as frequently.
The replacement filters are less expensive than some other air purifiers I’ve had in the past. And the design of these blends in with most decorations. To keep them mobile on hard flooring, I’ve purchased 16″ rolling plant stands to place 5 out of my 7 air purifiers on, so that I can easily sweep and mop around them, while keeping them slightly off the ground.
My 2 bedroom purifiers sit directly on the carpeting, one that purifies the bedroom area, and the other that faces the door to my walk-in closet, for added coverage. I would highly recommend these purifiers! I’ve had most of mine for about 2 years now, and they work great!.
Seems like it’s working, mostly. I’ve been using it for several weeks and do not use the ion technology. What’s good: I like that you have to option to NOT use the ion technology. There are some brands that don’t have it at all and some that have it but you can’t turn it off.
The filter types and quality are good on this model, there is a washable carbon filter that extends the life of the filter and the required filter changes happen less often than some other brands and need to.
Some need to be changed every 3 months. Although these filters are a little pricy, they not as expensive as many others, and not changed as often so I opted to go with this Winix. My allergies are better-not 100% but I do leave the window open a bit.
It’s quiet. I can say it’s gotten a bit louder in the last few weeks but still quiet and doesn’t disturb my sleep at all. It detects/goes red if I spray alcohol or lysol even in the next room with the door closed.
The not so good: I’ve used ammonia and bleach near it and it didn’t detect it at all. I’ve put it near the kitchen while cooking and sometimes it detects things and sometimes it doesn’t and some odors can linger longer than I thought they should (onions) but the odors do seem to go away.
Since this is my first air purifier, I don’t have anything to compare it to but I can say that it does help, but it’s not as dramatic a change as I thought it would be.
This appears to be cutting edge when it comes to air purifiers. I bought it because I like the fact they had a washable carbon filter. I was disappointed it didn’t come in anything but black but I’ll survive it.
However it is so much complicated being a smart device and I have yet to figure out how to make it become part of my smart network of many devices, which may be part of the problem I have over 20 devices in my smart Network.
. It operates sufficiently, I guess, and anything that would be relevant. I’ve yet to notice anything that’s significantly wonderful and nothing that is a problem. I like the size, and again I can’t impress is very quiet and I like that.
And it does look pretty sleek and design if someone’s into that. But I recommend it – probably. It definitely appears to have far more bells and whistle’s. The color is black I would rather had something else Although it is growing on me.
And I wish I could get on the smart network. UPDATE this thing has never stayed on and keeps shutting itself off. It’s too late to request a replacement so I’m taking a pretty big ‘hit’ to my wallet on this one.
The filter lifespan indicator will tell you when to change the Max2 Filter. Airmega gauges the lifespan of our filters based on usage, not time. The lifespan of the filters will be determined by indoor air quality and operation of the unit.
The app gives you the ability to monitor the indoor air quality, see the status of the filters, schedule the timer, and even receive real-time outdoor air quality updates. The LED ring lets you know if your air is fresh or unhealthy every minute of the day.
Auto: Smart Mode automatically adjusts the fan speed according to the room’s current air quality. Eco: When the air quality remains good for 10 minutes or more, it conserves energy by shutting down the fan.
If the air quality sensor detects pollution in the air, the fan will restart automatically. Sleep mode can be activated by manual, and the light sensor detects when it’s dark and the air purifier automatically reduces its fan speed so it runs much quieter.
The Airpura Air Purifier T600 DLX is a high power air purifier specially designed to eliminate odors and harmful chemicals left in the air by tobacco smoke. This machine offers optimum air quality with a full 360 degrees of air distribution.
Capable of turning over the air in a room as fast as twice every hour, the Airpura Air Purifier is the ultimate in eliminating the unwanted aftereffects of smoking. The easy care and maintenance of the Airpura make it a popular machine for home use.
With the Airpura, there are no complicated maintenance cycles or settings and the filters only need replacing every six to 24 months, depending on smoke levels. HEPA filtration The Airpura Air Purifier utilizes hospital-grade filtration to trap even more particles.
HEPA filtration is used in hospitals to create especially high air quality. HEPA filtration captures 99. 7 percent of particles as small as. 3 microns, returning only the cleanest possible air to the environment.
The Airpura utilizes a multi-step filtration process to get even cleaner air. Both a prefilter and a carbon filter precede the HEPA filter. These three filtration stages work together to eliminate even more odors and chemicals.
Versatile applications The Airpura Air Purifier has a wide range of applications. This powerful air purifier is strong enough to handle commercial applications while remaining sleek enough to fit in with almost any home decor.
The Airpura Air Purifier is especially well-suited to the following situations: Homes with smokers Bars Restaurants with smoking sections Hotels Business waiting rooms Heavy duty protection The Airpura Air Purifier is built to handle heavy smoking environments.
The Airpura can handle a range of the most harmful VOC’s and chemicals associated with tobacco smoke. Expertly designed carbon blends used during the filtration process can address specific chemicals.
The product arrived exceptionally packaged with no damage. The unit is clearly high quality being made of steel rather than plastic and assembly was straightforward and easy. However, after running the unit at 3/4 speed for several weeks now I have experienced marginal effectiveness.
There are three smokers in the home and the home unfortunately still smells of smoke. I was using Air Wick warmers all over the house in order to mask the smell. The unit does effectively remove these scents making them futile, but it does not appear to remove the smoke odors.
I have tile floors, leather furniture, no draperies and no fabric textiles so I don’t believe the latent smell of cigarettes is emanating from these.
Purchased the Airpura R614 at the recommendation of family who had a good experience with it. My home has multiple allergy sufferers and this purifier has almost completely eliminated our symptoms while indoors.
An unexpected side benefit is that I rarely have to dust now because it no longer seems to accumulate on our furniture. Lastly, we also have multiple indoor pets and again, allergy symptoms almost completely eliminated.
The noise level of the device on low (which is recommended for continuous use) is very reasonable and quickly becomes forgotten. I highly recommend this air purifier for anyone who suffers from allergies and asthma like myself.
I originally purchased this after buying a 2000+ sqft home that has no HVAC system (so air circulation is poor) and needed a lot of mold remediation so this has been a saving grace. While I don’t have any way of testing the air quality every day, anecdotally, the air feels and smells better since having it around post-remediation.
Mentally, it’s comforting knowing it’s capturing things like dust and killing any potential harmful organisms and bacteria with the UV light. The only downsides are that it can be a little loud even at the lowest setting so there’s no way I could sleep in the same room with it if I wanted to and I wish it was energy efficient.
I have this and two (supposedly energy efficient) dehumidifiers running 24/7 so my electricity bill is a bit higher than I’d like.
The Airpura T600 helps remove cigarette smoke, mold spores, VOCs, and odors. Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 harmful chemicals and gases, as well as at least 60 carcinogens. When you add the cancer-causing tar particles released from each cigarette butt to these toxic by-products, you have a world of health trouble for both the smoker and those around them.
Cigarette smoke is not only responsible for serious illnesses like cancer, emphysema, and bronchitis, but it can also trigger severe allergies, asthma attacks, and multiple chemical sensitivities in people who are vulnerable to these conditions.
If you suffer from smoke-triggered allergies or asthma, the Airpura T600 Air Purifier can help. Removing secondhand smoke from any environment, can provide relief and allow you to breathe easier. Product Features Quiet Purification – The unit’s backward-curved impeller helps eliminate vibrations and noise associated with conventional air purifier motors.
Zero Air Leakage – The unit’s unique pressure seal on the filter chamber ensures that all of the contaminated air passes through the filters. Motor Positioned Away From Airflow – Most air purifiers blow clean air over the motor and pick up new impurities even before exhausting it.
In the T600, the motor is situated away from outgoing airflow, so this is not possible.
Blueair’s HEPASilent dual filtration technology filters 99. 97% airborne particles, like viruses and bacteria, dust, pollen, dander, and mold down to 0. 1 micron, delivering more clean air, with less noise and energy used than HEPA filtration alone.
Blue Pure 311 Auto air purifier quickly cleans 388sqft medium room in about 12. 5 min or up to 1862sqft extra-large space in 60min, on high. Delivers high performance with automated one-button control in a lightweight, compact package and includes a washable, pre-filter in Arctic Trail (Gray).
It can also be customized in other Swedish-inspired pre-filter colors that are sold separately. Carbon filter traps light household odors from smoking, pets, cooking, and more. Award-winning, sleek, Swedish design compliments your aesthetic while working hard to clean your air so you can place where it will be most effective at capturing airborne particles & odors without worrying about it cramping your style.
CLEAN AIR IN A MATTER OF MINUTES: Based on third-party testing of removal rate of fine particles according to GB/T18801-2015 standard and pollen removal rate according to AHAM AC/1-2019 standard. According to AHAM, air changes per hour (ACH) is the measure of the outside air volume added to a space divided by the volume of that space over a set amount of time.
REMOVES ODOR & PARTICLES DOWN TO 0. 1 MICRON: Blueair models with HEPASilent’s mechanical and electrostatic filtration produced higher CADR, lower noise, and had lower energy consumption vs. the same models with only mechanical filtration (H13 filter).
ASTHMA + ALLERGY: Tested on pollen particles 5. 048 – 11. 14 mm on Blue Auto, DustMagnet and Protect.
The air purifier would seem to work as intended and I believe it has made my nights easier to sleep by removing pollen. It looks nice and is difficult to notice if placed in the right position. Easy to use.
Not very bright during the night time. Generally the product is fairly quiet as well. However, it makes a constant high pitched noise whenever plugged in. The product need only be connected to wall to make the noise (I suspect it is the result what I believe to be a capacitor being used to generate an electric field as part of the filtration method).
At the high setting the high pitched noise is either lessened or drowned out. The lowest setting it is unbearable. Medium it can be managed. Despite this, I do still use the product just usually when I am in other rooms and preparing to enter the room it operates in.
It should also be noted that the pitch is high enough that older persons will generally be unable to hear it. So depending on the person this could be a deal breaker. Personally, I am willing to cope, but I need not run the device at all times.
I waited a little to do the review on the 311 auto air purifier. Wanted to see how it performed before posting. I have had the air purifier for 3 months now, works great along with my 211+ auto. I mainly keep it in my kitchen area during the day and then move it to the bedroom at night.
I have severe allergies and asthma… believe me it works! The filter is only half way through its life span, and is turning grey. I will post photos once I do a filter replacement. My allergies are basically non existent and I haven’t had a sinus headache since I got the 2 blue air units.
Love these machines! I will definitely be getting another for my loft area. The cadr is perfect for midsize rooms, and both the kitchen and bedroom smells fresh and nice. I researched all sorts of air purifiers before getting the Blueair 311 auto and 211+ auto.
Blueair is truly a top notch company, and have been in business for over 25 years. Their units are top rated anywhere you look. Thanks Blueair for making such great machines!.
We bought this about a month ago because of worsening pollen and some related breathing problems. I was a little skeptical about it but the air did seem cleaner and it really knocked back the dust on the furniture.
A week ago, our brick walk was torn up and the masonry was drilled out of the brick – what a mess and the dust seeped into the house. We noticed the 311 went automatically to “high” even though it was on the second floor and (obviously) away from the front door.
We’ll be buying another one for the first floor and have already recommended this to several family members and friends. It was shipped quickly, and it’s unbelievably quiet on the auto setting. It’s a little louder on the highest setting but if it switches to that setting, you know you need it.
Our house is small and it doesn’t take up as much space as we feared either. Lightweight and it’ll be easy to change filters. Highly recommend.
A unique 360 degree HEPA filter relieves allergies by capturing 99. 97% of dust and allergens as small as. 3 microns in size. A large activated carbon filter attacks common household odors including those caused by smoke, cooking and pets.
And, it works to reduce the many VOC’s that are emitted by common household products and cleaning chemicals. It includes an Air Quality Monitor that detects the amount of particles in the air and automatically adjusts the speed to optimize room air quality when in auto mode.
An ionizer option is built into the unit and can be turned on to boost allergen control. The ionizer emits negative ions that attract microscopic allergens to form larger particles that can be easily trapped by the HEPA filter.
The purifiers stands about 28. 5 inches tall, has a timer up to 12 hours and a touch display with child lock. It provides powerful air cleaning and is ideal to use in rooms up to 402 sq. feet.
Plug in, push on and that’s it. The air is now easier to breathe. I live in the city and truth be told never noticed any issues with air quality. My other half ordered this unit online and wow, the difference is unbelievable.
Taking deeper breathes clears the head and creates a feeling of positivity. The fan is not loud and becomes white noise quickly. We put this in the master bedroom, and this is perfect. After long days with the kids during Covid 19, I am getting a better night sleep with the better air quality.
None of this is on the box. I looked at the price and hmmm. The three year warranty makes it worth it.

We have 2 of these units in a 2500 sq/ft area and they have been working great. We hold workshops for staining wood and the odor is kept to a minimum. We run the units continuously on low speed and there have been no complaints about the stain smell being too strong during the workshop and when we come into the studio the next day after a workshop there is no noticeable stain odor.
There was a concern that the stain odor would permeate throughout the rest of the building but that has not been the case. During the workshop you cannot hear the units running. Been very happy with the performance of these units and would highly recommend them for similar situations.
The air purifier store was very helpful picking the correct units for my application and explaining how the units worked, provided great service delivering them to me and was the best price I found on the web.
I will definitely use them for all my air purifying needs.
Review: *Overall, the product is overpriced and VERY expensive to maintain. Air cleaning efficiency is marginal. Pros: -Solid build quality: Unit is almost all metal and fabric with a few minor exceptions -Adjustable power level with turn-knob -Easy to take unit apart to do internal cleaning and filter replacements -Almost no off-gassing components Cons: -Unit has an extremely expensive purchase price -Replacement parts are also extremely expensive -Due to design, unit performs poorly at capturing smoke/fumes quickly (air intake at bottom near floor) -Air filter life expectancy was very short, half the length of time that was advertised -Pre-filters are made of polyester **I recommend doing more research on other brands before buying an Allerair.
Most importantly, you should calculate the cost of ALL of the replacement filters to know what you will pay EVERY YEAR for maintenance. My replacement VOCARB carbon canister (~$500) was supposed to last up to 2 years.
Mine only made it 6 months before I noticed strong paint-like odors coming from the unit. The replacement HEPA filter (~$115) also only lasted 6 months before needing replaced. An 8-pack of pre-filters cost me ~$118 and needs to be vacuumed regularly to last the expected 2-3 months.
At one point, I doubted the effectiveness of the unit for smoke removal so I held a cigarette near-by the purifier and the smoke rose to the ceiling away from the unit! A huge design flaw was putting the air intake hole at the BOTTOM of the unit.
Hot air (smoke) rises, so how is it supposed to capture hot gasses rising to the ceiling? **You can cut the maintenance costs down by purchasing replacement parts through 3rd party websites such as air-purifiers-america.
com Also, instead of re-buying the entire carbon canister, you can buy bulk charcoal and refill the canister yourself. However, my canister (40 lbs) would still cost me ~$460 to fill with bulk VOCARB.
My sister highly recommended the Air Purifier Store and this particular model. I had my kitchen painted recently and the fumes were very strong. I set up the unit about two to three weeks ago and I can’t smell the paint fumes.
I love that it’s portable and can be moved from room to room when needed. Right now I run it on low when I’m in the kitchen or watching TV. I run it on high overnight.

I have never written a letter like this before, but I was moved to do so after seeing the amazing difference your air purifier made in my life. I am a divorced Dad with three asthmatic children. Dust and pet allergies made my kids miserable when they came to stay at my place, and there was even talk of discontinuing visits because of the frequent sniffling and wheezing.
I thought an air purifier might help and after much reading on the Internet, I chose an AllerAir model 6000 exec. After only one night with the unit in his room, my youngest son woke up without the usual complaints, and now he looks forward to his visits at my place instead of dreading them.
He no longer needs to use his asthma inhaler when he visits either! The mother of a friend of mine, hearing of my success with the AllerAir unit, asked if I thought an air purifier might help with her chronic cough.
I lent her mine for a couple of nights and now she too is a satisfied owner of an AllerAir purifier. She told me it allows her to sleep through the night without the usual coughing which in turn allows her to be more relaxed and alert during the day.
I was also impressed with the genuine concern expressed by your agent when I called with questions. I felt that I was dealing with people who actually believed in the product that they sold; a rare experience these days.
As it depends on a number of factors such as the type of air purifier, the size of the unit, the specific needs of the individual, and the severity of the smoke. However, many people find that air purifiers can help to reduce the amount of smoke in the air and make it easier to breathe.
If you are considering an air purifier for wildfire smoke, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional to ensure that it is the right solution for you.
