Don’t waste your money. During the initial outbreak of the Covid pandemic, I grabbed a pack of these batteries. I initially used some for decor lights. The type used around holidays. This was the extra small type for centerpieces.

It only required 2 AA batteries. There were 6 wired bulbs on 6” wires. These batteries were so weak, that they only work d for 4 minutes. It was never able to light it fully. It was very dim for those 4 minutes.

I checked the expiration date before purchasing. Just not worth the packaging.

I purchased a 48 pack with an expiration date of 07/2021 ant only 11 of the batteries were usable as the rest of them were all low as tested. I sent an e-mail describing the problem several weeks ago and have not heard from Maxell as of 1/22/22021.

Batteries have supposedly a 5 year shelf life. Most 9V batteries that I have purchased when checked with a meter, (which I have and use) are way over 9V closer to 10V. These are just over 9V (9. 3 to 9.

5) which suggest to me they have already been on the shelf for some time. There technically are 9V and will work in most products but I unfortunately have a Carbon monoxide device that likes 9. 6 to 10 V or it shows a lo battery.

That said these will work for other things so I’ll just have to visit my local harbor freight and buy some that will work for me.

Batteries are difficult to test for a consumer. I have seen in the past (in my own, informal, unscientific testing) that some “”Pro””-labeled ones actually under-performed their “”regular”” counterparts.

So, allow me to share with you a battery test I made between the Duracell CopperTop, Quantum, and Optimum batteries, then compare them to the Energizer Max and Ultimate Lithium. Finally, I will compare them to the rechargeable, Panasonic Eneloop Pro.

This was likely my most expensive battery test I have ever undertaken, and because they are one-time-use batteries, not the most eco-friendly. I apologize for the latter! PROS – Lasted long, but surprisingly not much better than the CopperTop ones – Slider packaging holds the batteries together better, though I recommend dedicated, plastic battery holders for better and more space-efficient storage CONS – Costs more than Duracell’s other lines – Not worth the extra premium for a slight increase in battery life TESTING I tested the batteries by having 3 of them each used in an Imaginarium RC train and having it go around a flat, circular track.

Each time it would pass a specific point on the track, a sensor was hit to track what time it completed a loop. In the end, I had an Excel spreadsheet that showed the number of loops that were made. From there, I calculated the start time and the last time it hit the sensor.

Keep in mind, however, that many factors could affect a battery’s performance. Some are made better for one type of use, but would fare worse for another. Surprisingly, the Duracell CopperTop slightly outperformed the Quantum, whereas the Optimum ran longest between the three.

MARKETING Duracell markets the CopperTop being less premium than the Quantum, and that in turn less than the Optimum. Next, I threw in some Energizers. The Max and one of my favorites, the Ultimate Lithium. – Max outperformed all 3: CopperTop, Quantum, and Optimum by about 60%. – Ultimate Lithium (which is not Alkaline, by the way), nearly DOUBLED the battery life over the CopperTop! This was not surprising to me as this line is a BEAST (with the gigantic price tag that comes with it.

) Visually, the RC train result was: Quantum < CopperTop < Optimum < Max (+60%) < Ultimate Lithium (+110%) Finally, I wanted to see how the RC car would work with my favorite, rechargable batteries that I depend on for my professional photography work: Panasonic's Eneloop Pro.

The Eneloop are designed to hold 70% of their charge for up to 10 years, and for wedding photography, that is an important factor as I cannot afford taking out batteries that may not be able to provide the power I need at a moment’s notice.

The result? They did average. Visually: Quantum < CopperTop < Optimum < Eneloop Pro < Max < Ultimate Lithium Price wise, the Eneloop Pro and Ultimate Lithium afford a VERY high premium. They are EXPENSIVE.

If you asked me which batteries I recommend over the other, the answer is: it depends. Some devices work better with Alkaline or Lithium than NiMH rechargables. Alkalines provide a higher, initial voltage for more power, are cheaper, but once they hit a certain discharge threshold, they become useless very quickly with certain types of devices.

With the Eneloop Pro, they provide a longer discharge life, can be used for a longer, sustained period, and of course, be recharged hundreds of times. So, what does that mean? I would like to re-iterate that I am not a professional, lab-certified, battery tester.

Your own results may vary from my own, informal, unscientific testing using a RC train. For RC cars, the Duracell Alkalines are my recommendation — specifically, the CopperTop. For photography equipment and flashlights, I go with the Eneloop Pro for the long battery life and their ability to hold their charge for a prolonged time.

For critical devices that require the longest battery life, such as fire alarms, I’d go with the Ultimate Lithium. With all that said, among the CopperTop, Quantum, and Optimum line of Duracell batteries, I’d stick with the less expensive CopperTop for its better cost-to-life ratio.

Take away: These batteries have a purpose but so don’t the everyday variety. I am more interested in using these batteries for the external flash on my camera than other applications. I can quickly go through multiple sets of batteries on a shooting day because I change them when their performance starts to dip.

I need a lot of power, delivered in a short time, in order to make sure the flash keeps up with the speed I take pictures. These batteries will allow me to change them fewer times because they give me access to the power more quickly and for a longer range than standard batteries.

If you start grabbing power quickly, it won’t last as long. On the flip side, if you use it slowly, it will last longer. Another component which determines how long batteries will last is the minimum voltage the item will operate under.

When a battery dies, it still contains a charge, but that charge is below what the specific item needs to operate. I keep a battery tester and have a rotation for my batteries that start them in high draw items like a camera flash and end them in low draw items like flashlights or remote controls.

Duracell was smart to identify items that the high-performance results can demonstrated in. From what I’ve seen, I believe the results for the products they advertised. I also measured the stored charge between the Optimum and other batteries that I had in storage.

The Optimum had a greater charge than the regular copper top batteries and the regular batteries from their competitor. Part of the premium cost is the styling of the battery and the resealable packaging.

I am less interested in these features but they want a way to distinguish their product from everything else.

The Duracell Optimum 1. 5V Alkaline AA batteries are great! We have a lot of devices that run on AA batteries and these last and last. I use them in devices like electronic blood pressure machines, printing calculators, and heavy duty waterproof flashlights.

The blood pressure machines pull a lot of power off the batteries because of the way they run and we usually have to replace them very frequently. But not with these batteries. They just last and last and last! I live in Texas and recently we had several days of back to back rain storms.

We lost power several times due to the weather and before I never knew whether my flashlight and radio would work or not, depending on how long the batteries have been in them. Luckily, I had replaced all the batteries with the new Optimizing Duracell batteries, not only did the flashlight and radio come on immediately, the flashlight beam was very strong.

I’ve always opted for Duracell batteries where I can as I’ve trusted the brand more than any other battery, and these did not disappoint. I used them as a replacement in my wireless keyboard which had been on the fritz (the keys only functioning half the time due to dying batteries).

I replaced the old batteries with two of these and the keyboard is working better than ever, honestly feels like it has more connection than I’ve ever had (ie no pauses in typing). I love the 12 year storage guarantee, but do need to say that the packaging feels a bit dated, and I’m not sure what power boost ingredients are as there is no explanation on the packaging.

After purchasing these Duracell Power Boost batteries, I decided to put them to the test. I have a LED flashlight that I had just replaced with new batteries. I removed those and replaced with the Duracell Power Boost batteries.

Both myself and my husband agree there was a noticable difference in how bright the LED flashlight was when the Duracell Power Boost batteries were used. And even though I just installed the Power Boost batteries, I have full confidence they will last longer than the brand of batteries I was previously using in this flashlight.

I will definitely be replacing the batteries in other electronics I use with the Duracell Power Boost batteries.

I think these are great, I normally buy the regular Duracell batteries, and they are good as an overall battery, I find I’m needing to replace them in my insulin pump regularly. The manufacturer recommends Energizer batteries but I wasn’t really happy with the performance so I switched to Duracell a year after using the Energizer Batteries that Medtronic Recommended.

I put the Duracell Power Boost battery in the Insulin Pump, and it’s been 2 weeks and still going strong. I’m floored to say the least. Yes these are a little more pricey than the regular ones, however with the length of time I got off of one battery it was paid for itself, and I still have 3 batteries left.

The thing I appreciate most about these Duracell batteries is their lastability – twelve years in storage! Their lasting powers certainly vary with what they’re used in, but I know from experience these will keep powering on for as long as you need them to and then some.

These are great batteries, with unique (patented) characteristics. Higher initial voltage than alkaline batteries: 1. 8 V vs. 1. 5 V. Extremely long shelf life. High capacity. Lighter weight. Due to the higher cost, don’t use them in devices that go through batteries quickly – rechargeables are a better choice for that.

Best use are applications where capacity, reliability and long shelf life are paramount. These batteries contain metallic Lithium. Do not break open, throw them in a fire or otherwise abuse them. Dispose of through a local recycling program.

I am so tired of batteries that explode and leak in my portable equipment. I am converting to these lithium batteries since they promise not to leak, last at least 10 years in storage and have excellent power output.

The only problems that I have seen with this technology is that equipment that tries to show the power level of the installed batteries is not calibrated for lithium cells and when the battery is used up, the power output drops almost to zero without much warning.

Otherwise, lithium batteries are wonderful.

I replaced the original, generic batteries that came in my television remote with Duracell Power Boost batteries. The superior difference was evident from the first time I used them.  typically, I had to be in relatively close proximity to my television in order for the remote to consistently work.

 I noticed with the Duracell batteries that the remote worked perfectly from all the way across the room. So I thought I would test the distance out. I walk from the family room all the way down the hall to the farthest place where I still had a clear line to the sensor on the TV.

I use AAA batteries for my Fire Stick remote and I typically find myself replacing my batteries at least once a month when I use dollar store batteries. I have recently switched over to Duracell for the last few months and I have not had to change my batteries yet.

I would say this is a win win for me! If you add up the amount of money spent on dollar store batteries and the time they last, the Duracell batteries actually are cheaper in the bigger picture of things.

These batteries are very recognizable because they are still the same Duracell batteries that have been available for years. They have the copper tops and the black bottoms. They did add little rings to the copper tops and it reminds me of energy, so showing customers they have a high amount of power inside the tiny battery.

I bought the Duracell Power Boost AAA 4 pack of batteries to replace the batteries in my Hot Dot pens in my classroom. I’m a teacher and I use these electronic pens with Hot Dot cards that allow students to test themselves.

When the pens touch an answer, they light up green or red and make comments so the students know if they got the answer correct. I have 20 kids in my class currently but had 75 that rotated through last year.

I have ten of these pens and we use them a lot so I have to replace the batteries often. The Duracell batteries last the longest compared to other generic brand batteries. I like that these have a 2034 expiration date even though I’ll go through them quickly.

I usually buy the 24 pack of the Duracell Power Boost AAA batteries because we use the Hot Dot pens so often.

These batteries are so very awesome. Everyone knows that AA is so much more powerful than the noticeably and understandably ignored single A. Who even buys those anymore?!? That’s why I chose double A, which was twice as awesome as single A.

I bought these on a Replenish offer originally and then just let my subscription continue. I was about to cancel but then Christmas rolled around and this was sorely needed. I’ve been buying Best Buy branded batteries for years and have generally been pleased with the results.

These seem to be comparable in capacity with Rayovac general purpose batteries that you would find at Costco or Sam’s Club. You can get more capacity out of say an Energizer Max or Ultimate, but these go well into the life of some devices like walkie-talkies and other kids toys that get infrequent use.

If your devices see a lot of use and not much shelf time, you’d probably be better to consider a set of rechargable batteries and a charger anyway.

I really liked having these. We use them to power the 16 LED lights situated throughout our cabin in the woods. At about 20 bucks for 48 batteries, they did the job and lasted about a month or so before needing to be replaced.

I would have been willing to spend $20 a month on a 48 pack of batteries. Sure. The down side was we never were able to get them again. We went back multiple times the next month looking for them and it was always a no go.

We’ve since moved on. :-(.

A nice battery for what they’re designed for. LOW DRAIN devices. These are excellent for what they say they are to be used for in the description. These Thunderbolt Magnum version (YELLOW and BLACK) are NOT alkaline batteries.

If you use them in devices that are high drain and/or require alkaline batteries, you will be very disappointed and then try to blame the battery itself instead of yourself for using the wrong battery.

If you need an alkaline battery, then you need at least the (Orange and Black) version of the Thunderbolt Magnums which are alkaline, or even better, use the Thunderbolt Edge version which is my personal favorite.

I bought these Thunderbolts (Yellow and Black) to replace various remote control batteries a couple of flashlights and several wall clocks throughout our house and they do an excellent job doing so.

These batteries are so bad they should actually not be allowed into this country. I am not a tree hunger by any stretch of the imagination, but batteries like this are merely filling up the landfills.

They have at best 25% the usable power of a brand name battery and at best that amount of longevity. Meaning, they go dead when they sit. I used to get a couple packs of these when they would give them away with purchase.

But most of the time I reached for a few to power something up there would be at least one that was dead. And then you would have to test to find out which one. Not worth the aggravation or the chemical waste to our continent.

These batteries work OK. But they really don’t compare with RAYOVAC 815-30PPTK. The Ray-o- Vac batteries are alkaline, whereas these RadioShack batteries are just zinc – carbon. Zinc – carbon batteries are always much less expensive than alkaline batteries.

They are not as powerful and they will not, repeat NOT replace alkaline. So don’t expect them to work in high drain applications. For light duty stuff, like clocks, they work just fine. And the price is right.

Just Harbor Freight’s ads. They are not so right.

These batteries work if you need a battery right away and don’t have any on hand. They don’t really last very long. They seem to lose battery life after a couple months compared to more popular name brand batteries.

Not recommended for long term use.

Batteries are SO expensive, but these are a great deal at only. 92 a pack! They work great in low output items, such as my cordless mouse or a baby monitor. I’ve also tried them in my sons toy trains and cars.

They’re not so great for items like that, they only last about a day. I may not be able to save money on the batteries for his toys but I can definitely use these with just about anything else around the house!.

In my experience, Rayovac is one of the most lasting battery for my need, I just used for the tv control remotely, I don’t if they are reload but I would like that. But recomendable for everyone anyways.

Really glad to have bought these batteries. Sometimes batteries are all you need. They make battery-powered things perform well, especially when the previous set pf batteries get all worn down and uncooperative.

This seller is honest and provides fresh Duracell batteries. I have no complaints with him. The reason for my negative review is that I have found Duracell batteries to be unreliable as they often fail without warning long before they have exhausted their electrical capacity.

Often this occurs at very bad times and causes a lot of grief. So I do not trust Duracell batteries and recommend that you use another brand (I have had no trouble with Energizers). So why did I buy these? Because they are cheap and I have a non-critical use for them.

In summary, don’t buy Duracell if you want a reliable battery for important applications. But if you just want the cheapest battery you can find that works okay most of the time, then Duracell is acceptable.

it is only about 5-percent cheaper than same brand batteries soled locally, but I have got a fresh batteries and they shipped and arrived in a few weeks, which is fast. I only ordered since I forgot to bought one, but it arrived fast and I even ordered a second time.

You do need to know that it will cause corrosion if you will leave it in the devices for a long time, since the outside-shell of the batteries is zinc platted, and they are stronger than common batteries.

if you plan to use this in devices that consume low ampere or needs to hold those for a long time such as remote controls, oximeter, weak LED lights, those are not for you! get cheap ones from your grocery store (which are almost always having a simple stainless steel outer shell which will not create corrosion).

if you need it for a strong flashlight, a strong laser pointer (there are ones that are combined with flashlight and ultra-vioulet), or some sort of an emergency charger, buy those. make sure to recycle them afterwards, don’t throw them into the bin.

I’ve have come to experience a defect using this energizer model batteries. It starts to leak inside the flashlight of any type when I use it for a certain time. Looks like it isn’t able to resist the heat that transmits the flashlight causing the battery to leak on the inside port of flashlight 🔦.

And it also damages the receiver charge port which turns out that I have to throw the flashlight to the garbage.

I am afraid I will be going back to Energizer Max Powerseal, as I have used them in everything for the past few years due to Duracell batteries leaking 6 times in different clocks. I must put my hand up and admit to not taking them out of my wildlife trail camera when it was brought indoors for several months over the winter and spring, but never the less, I didnt expect them to leak acid As you can see from the photos, they did leak, quite badly onto a fairly new camera.

I used the Duracell C 4pk batteries for about two weeks to try them out. I tried them inside of a Halloween light up projector. They worked really well and I had no issues with them dying or slowing down.

The packaging could be easier to open up or at least make the print bigger where it tells you how to open. I feel like I missed that part and had some trouble opening. Other than that, the packaging looks nice and simple.

I get it, but I also don’t, why would I want to buy batteries to store only and be excited that they store for that long? The only batteries I buy. I have been buying Rayovac AA High Energy batteries for many years now. I am a Graphic Designer and I am constantly using my wireless keyboard and mouse. The Rayovac AAs really keep them going.

They also last a long time and are far less expensive than other brands. That way I can buy more and have them on hand whenever I need them. Try them out. You won’t be disappointed.

I have so many things that use AA batteries. I buy the 24 pack so I always have new ones available. I find they last just as long, or longer, than any other well known brand. To top it off, they are lower in price than the others.

I have never had a low, or dead, battery come in one of these packs, no matter how long it takes me to use them all. I have been using these for at least a decade and will continue doing so. I buy this brand of battery in all sizes I use.
