This sub straight pounds deep deep lows crisp chest pounding everything shaking from the dbs it can produce. Take the time to tune your box. I’m punishing my cab of my truck quad cab with 6dbs. With ONE of these.
I have been involved in car audio since a kid Rollin his very first ride. I have had the the top name brands like Kicker Kenwood,Fosgate,Memphis. None of these can even compare to this sub. with the money you save here you can take your time and tune your box correctly, and with your left over money you saved and could have spent on other top brands, get your self some dyno mat.
You will feel every thump this sub puts out. Mines been running a week now and not even close to break in point when it really comes alive. Definitely worth money and time to invest in. Definitely getting more to set up my other vehicles.
My set up maybe cost me approximately 400-500. But the results sound like I paid 5gs. Way to go Rockford!! You have seriously impressed me and will be back for more of your products. Dual din Kenwood head 2 3 way 6×9 boss 400w front door speakers 2 3 way 6.

The sub came at least a day earlier than I expected. I pulled that heavy monster out of the double shipping boxes and immediate I could tell this was one serious monster. I guess the 11 lbs. Magnet was the first clue.
I loaded it into my 1. 5 cubic foot t-line vented box( tight fit cuz box wasn’t quite cut out for that large of a diameter sub- some modification required. no biggie. ) popped in some godsmack, and turned up the volume to about 8 and realized this thing POUNDS!! Let me tell u.
the difference was amazing. I was running a little power acoustic 800 watt crypt subwoofer b4 @ around 600 watts @2 ohms and it was pretty loud. but running the Rockville @ 1 ohm and closer to 1200 watts was like night and day!! This speaker hit almost twice as hard at probably half the volume level!! Needless to say.
i was impressed!! The price was reasonable to say the least. i havent even had the volume on the system past 14 yet nor even broke in the sub and I think it’s probably the best my system has ever sounded.
I had to make a minor adjustment to the gain on my kenwood 4 channel to compensate for more bass. but other than that my little pos isuzu rodeo sounds pretty damn good. I dont see the need for any other upgrades in the bass department.
I’d say that probably the speaker should last for a good long time. the super high temp 3 inch voice coils haven’t barely even heated up and no smell whatsoever has come from the box. ( last couple of subs I ran smelled of burning voice coils if played to loud for too long).
the speaker in my opinion is really stout and all parts that matter are of high quality so I expect to problems with it over long term. I highly recommend this speaker to anyone!!!! I would definetly buy again without hesitation!!!.
I have been around the block with car audio having products such as alpine pdx, soundstream tarantula, hifonics Brutus. After having kids and needing to budget my cravings for car audio I have a new favorite.
Rockville ! Rockville has a new fan with amps with solid features such as Siemens crossovers and separate preamp and amp circuits. CEA COMPLIANT !! Distortion limit circuits ! I currently have the RDX-M2 amplifier pushing 750 RMS to the Rockville W12K6 and its Amazing combination of power and precision.
I was using an American bass XD12 @2 ohms getting 550RMS but at 750@1ohm, the Rockville W12K6 is cleaner, very efficient, and shakes my whole civic with authority ! If paying more for another brand makes you smile then go ahead but Rockville has a new fan.
The KICKER Solo-Baric L7S handles tons of power and heat without distortion or compromising on sound quality. The Solo-Baric revolves around KICKER’s advanced cone design, the injection-molded SoloKon.
The 360-degree, constant-contact back bracing adheres directly to every contour of the square cone, adding targeted strength, reliable performance and accurate response for the super-clean bass you’ve been looking for.
There’s something magical about a great car audio system. Whether you’re driving the car, riding along, or even just hear it passing you by, it’s a sound that keeps you wanting more. To get a sound like that, look no further than the Massive Audio GTX124 12-Inch 700W 4 Ohm Car Subwoofer.
This 12-inch subwoofer packs 700 watts of power, so you know it’s going to bring the pain to your favorite jams. It comes with a heavy gauge steel basket with industrial texture painting and dual stacked high flux ferrite magnets.
It also has a customized rubber gasket and magnet boost, to go along wityh the EROM foam surround for added protection. Step your sound up with this car subwoofer from Massive Audio.
I am using these to replace 2 bag end subwoofers D12E-1 that I blew running 2000 watts thru them in home theater. So decided to upgrade to a woofer I can throw a lot of power at in the same box. Box volume was 2.
88 just shy of recommended 3cu ft, but added acousta stuff to help woofers feel like they are in bigger box. Wired both woofers in series for 8 ohm load, however measures close to 9ohms, since crown k2 amp was only stable to 4 ohms.
Basically sends 1650 watts to the pair of woofers in same box in this configuration. A bit of a challenge when you have two dual voice coil 2ohm, Wish had 4 ohm voice coils, but could not think of configuration to get to a 4 ohm load with all those connections.
Trade off is less power but better dampening and control. The subs definitely produce some volume and low frequency. However, feel I need more power to get bigger impact–had a couple movie scenes where signal was clipping and amp could not get all the peak power needed.
I have two sub boxes with two woofers each wired the same on different amps. Since I am not too concerned with music and more for effects as a home theater subwoofer and the price point, I would buy again.
It combines great subwoofer design with perfect enclosure design to deliver bass that far exceeds expectations. The Terminator subwoofers used in the enclosure include durable polypropylene dust caps that can survive the rigors of most trunks and are lightweight, allowing them to efficiently move using less power.

Bought this 1200watt subs & amp package from Fingerhut for pretty cheap considering the source! After installing a aftermarket head unit, purchasing a kicker 800 watt amp instead of using the MTX amp that came with the subs couse honestly, the amp that was included seamed kinda underpowered, into my 2015 Kia Soul, I was impressed with the sound & bass they produced! I cranked the beats each and every time I drove for a year straight, that’s when one of the subs voices-coils blew.
So instead of contacting Fingerhut’s warranty department I contacted MTX with all receipts and paperwork for the purchase, explained the problem and what my expectations & goal was. They sent me a return package label to return the damaged sub to them for repairs.
Wasn’t more than a week & I received what I thought was my repaired sub however, they actually sent me a brand new sub! MTX, I appreciate your customer service, your prompt response & action on the matter & most definitely your audio products! Looking forward to possibly trying your new square S65 Series subs before going for Kickers solo’s.
So I have been running kicker comp 12s, well since y2k Put these in cause my first 10 inch sub I owned was a mtx and it hit hard so figured I would give them a shot. Dang good sound. When I first hooked up to my audiofonics 1100 watt she sounded great till it went to hit hard then it dropped into protection.
Mind you I literally just took the kickers out and hooked these up. So I immediately knew it was a wireimg issue. Opened the box and they were wired 4ohm. So tomorrow I’m gonna rewire to the 2ohm set up and stuff the box a little to get rid of the holo box hit.
Then I have no doubt these will destroy. Thanks for the deal and keeping MTX consistent all these years.
I wired them to 2ohm at 200 watts and are clean. The bump is there with my gain on head unit to 0. 300 watts is more than enough. Don’t listen to the fool that says don’t buy. I have kickers sitting next to them to compare at double the watts.
These don’t break the bank just use a modest 300 to 400 watt rms. spend the money on a good mono 2 ohm amp. That’s the fail. No crunch. Buy the kicker splicer if your cutting into the wiring. Boom you are done.
Enhance your listening pleasure with this Klipsch subwoofer. Its built-in Class D high-efficiency amplifier reproduces accurate low-frequency sound, and the cerametallic woofers provide minimal distortion for higher, cleaner bass output.
The scratch-resistant ebony finish and woven cloth grille of this 300W Klipsch subwoofer give it a high-class look and feel. 600W peak power (300W RMS), integrated Class D amplifier, 12″ woofer, phase control, bass-reflex enclosure, includes magnetic speaker grille, 24-125Hz frequency response, wired connectivity, 2 RCA inputs.
I recommend the SPL-120 if you’re looking to match other Reference Premier speakers. I have the RP500C, RP600M’s for my main front speakers, and RP500Ms for my rear surround and the SPL-120. Very stunning to the eyes for a 5.
1 entry level. However, if you’re a fan of bass and looking for subsonic LFE then you’ll need look elsewhere. The SPL-120’s bass is good but it needs to be deeper and more refined. It’s a bit underwhelming.
Majority of the time the fit and finish of Klipsch speakers is high quality, but my SPL-120 has visible dried glue on one of the port seams that was not wiped off or sanded down during manufacturing.
If you’re shopping for bass, here is where you get it. I paired this with my cinema 600 and everything is shaking but with clarity and precision. Super happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend.
Other info that’s helpful is that my room size is a medium size bedroom converted to a game room. 1- Con though. It’s not a dealbreaker but something to know. sometimes the speaker has a delay on turning on.
I’ve noticed that sometimes maybe the cinema 600 doesn’t immediately tell the speaker that’s it’s time to go at the same time as everything else. Not sure why that is but it’s obvious when it does turn on because my bass goes from 3 to 10.
heard an SVS subwoofer, then I’m reasonably sure you’ll like this one. On the plus side, it’s undeniably good with movies. They certainly have plenty of punch with this sub on the job, but it’s not so great with music.
Explosions and rumbles are rendered with that classic, accentuated, ported-box sound, but it DOESN’T go down to 20 Hz (let alone below). Furthermore, the bass isn’t as detailed, fast, flat-responding nor as precise in the transients as a more powerful or a sealed-box subwoofer.
I liken it to looking at a Monet through a magnifying glass; you see one part of it extremely well, but you don’t see very much of it, instead missing out on the complete picture. Anything above or below the frequencies in its “happy place” of operation are rendered poorly, or not at all.
The amplifier is rather lacking in power, by which I mean that the gain requires turning up all the way for satisfactory response, at which time it becomes too boomy. Again, it does a very good (but not great) job with movies, but it loses a lot of detail with music, sounding a bit flabby and one-note in the process.
My sincerest advice is to get an SVS PB-1000 or SB-2000. Save your money a little longer, come up with the extra money, and invest in a better product, because there’s genuinely no competition between SVS and Klipsch subwoofers.
The SVS amps are MUCH more powerful, and they never seem to be straining or struggling to perform what they’re being fed. I’ve never ventured past 2 o’clock on the gain, but had to absolutely crank the Klipsch to 100%.
Upgrade your home theater with this Polk Audio subwoofer. The front-firing 12-inch driver maximizes linearity to deliver thumping, clean bass, and the floor-firing design of the Power Port minimizes distortion, turbulence and port noise.
The built-in controls of this Polk Audio subwoofer provide access to volume, phase correction and the low pass filter. 12′′ active subwoofer Delivers authoritative bass for high-impact home theater audio.
Integrated Class D amplifier Delivers 400W peak power (200W RMS continuous) to put sonic punch being your favorite music and movie and game soundtracks. Dynamic Balance technology Tunes out unwanted resonance and distortion for pure sound.
Volume control Lets you match the subwoofer’s output to the rest of your sound system. Auto on/off Reduces power consumption. Inputs Include RCA audio line-in and RCA subwoofer input to provide flexible connectivity options.
22-180Hz frequency response Delivers booming lows for an immersive soundscape. 8 ohms nominal impedance Provides efficient conduction of power.
I have this paired with Polk R200 speakers and a Denon AVR. I used the Audyssey room EQ in the AVR to set it up. It set it to come on at 40Hz. So for solo piano, the L200’s can cover the frequency range but it is interesting to see how much low frequency content is in tv commercials.
The sub comes on automatically when triggered. No need to turn it on by the switch. I’m loving this set-up and will take it a step further and add another HTS12 soon. Polk customer service has been great.
Really fast shipping. My other stereo has Polk SDA-2B’s which I bought in 1988 and they still work fine.
For those with limited budget when this subwoofer is on sale it’s a steal. I wish I could get HTS 12 but they are massive and only HTS 10 was fitting my limited space. Sure there are better subwoofers out there but they are also a lot more expensive.
Lots of good reviews everywhere was a good sign. Really nice esthetics with slightly rounded edges and accurate deep bass. It took some tweaking but now it is not overwhelming and it hits these low tones without any booming effects.
It works really well in movies and 5. 1 concerts. Music probably not as good since I found that sometimes when I checked the same musical track with only my Polk tower speakers (Monitor 75T) it sounds sometimes better and more detailed without the subwoofer.
It could be the crossover and certain music. It is hard to say. One issue – it does not have a permanent ON switch; only AUTO and 12v Trigger. 5. 1 sources weren’t the problem, it would switch subwoofer on every time no matter the volume.
However low volume stereo sources would keep subwoofer dormant often. At night time I found out that subwoofer would stay off most of the time. I understand that with low volume it was barely audible any way but still that’s not the right way.
Solution: I used the 12 V trigger RCA cable from my Yamaha receiver and now subwoofer turns on every time when I power on my receiver. Also regular STEREO 3. 5 jack worked just fine. No need to use mono jack, it is really hard to buy one nowadays.
I love the Polk HTS10 subwoofer. Perfect for both music and movies and fits right in with my older Klipsch k series speakers. 1st one I bought had issues with it not coming back on after it went into standby mode.
Sent it back for a full refund, but didnt hesitate to buy another one. Second one works fantastic and sounds amazing. If you cant lay out big money for a high end subwoofer, then check out the Polk Audio HTS10 or HTS12.
If you need to quickly add bass to a system or want to alleviate the hassle of separate amplifiers and subwoofers, then the P300-12 is the right one for the job! The P300-12 features a Punch 12″ subwoofer in a custom sealed enclosure and is powered by a mighty 300 Watt amplifier.
The system is all-inclusive, so you only need to run power, ground and a signal from the source to get this baby moving. Features a durable exterior that resists scrapes and bumps while in the trunk or cargo area.
I bought this because it had good reviews, was priced under $200, had 300 Watts RMS and was self contained. I added it along side a 400w 4 channel amp powering my 4 cabin speakers with a capacitor to keep it all smooth.
I am thoroughly impressed. Being a sealed box, it has clean deep booms at all volume levels. Now that I’ve heard it, I want more power. but this is my wife’s car. So it does just fine for her. It really compliments the overall harmony of the cabin speakers and fills the whole car with that wonder clean boom.
Had a little trouble setting the gain, but after tripping the internal thermal shut off and letting it cool off and reset, everything worked out. This speaker works perfectly for a slightly modified system with little extra work to install.
You do have to have adequate power I ran 4 awg @ 20 ft run, including ground length, for trunk install, and ground along with an optional trigger wire (unless you want to switch it to constant on or audio signal on).
Be sure to properly fuse it. YouTube it if you do not know what size and locations to install them. I highly recommend it for any beginner to average Joe.
This is a very nice powered subwoofer. I owned this model before, and I liked it very much. I ended up selling that one when I sold my car. That was a few years ago. Missing that bass in my current car, I ended up buying an Alpine PWA-S10V.
While it was a nice powered subwoofer setup, it didn’t fulfill my needs. Plus, the amp is advertised as 250 watt RMS @ 2 ohms, but the sub was a 4 ohm sub. So, the amp was only producing 150 watts. Stupid of Alpine not to match that amp with a 2 ohm sub.
So, I ended up buying another RF P300-12. It did not disappoint. Gave me what I was looking for and then some. This sub hits for the type of music I listen to, everything from modern rock, classic rock, classical, old school rap and some modern rap.
I will admit this doesn’t get that super low bass found on some rap songs since it’s a sealed enclosure, but it does quite well for most of my music. I do have plans of replacing this with a custom setup when the weather gets warmer.
This subwoofer has an switch that allows you to select auto power off when it does not sense signal on coming from the factory car stereo. I purchased this subwoofer for that specific feature. One less wire to run is a great option.
I ran all the wires, reassembled my car’s interior. The subwoofer sounded great for a coule of trips around town. Then I returned home and turned off my car, the sub started humming/resonating extremely loud.
If it would have been night time I would have woken my neighbors. I called Rockford Fosgate tech support and was told the auto sensing feature does not work well and I can return the subwooder if needed.
What the Hell?!? After I’ve purchased the subwoofer and wired everything, they just expect me to return the sub?!? I will be contacting Rockford Fosgate again to complain. This is ridicuolous!.
The Skar Audio SDR series was engineered to dish out reliable, hard hitting, and low spectrum sound. Featuring a high flux ferrite motor, this woofer will provide extreme power handling for extended periods of time.
The SDR series will quickly become a customer favorite, as it’s perfect for people just entering the world of car audio all the way up to seasoned pros. The SDR series features a 2. 5 high temperature 4-layer high temperature copper voice coil that is attached to our Skar Audio signature red spider.
The surround on the SDR series is a high roll foam surround which allows the woofer to produce riveting low end bass response. The SDR series has a max power rating of 1,200 watts and a RMS power rating of 600 watts.
I had never head of Skar before walking into an audio install store last year. I figured if they had them in there they were worth listening to. I bought these because I thought my Cerwin Vega weren’t functioning correctly.
I was surprised at the bass the Skar put out, but reviews gave them the “shout-out” they deserve! Nice and mellow, not punchy or bloated. I had these wired to an 8-channel JL Audio amp but have since installed a Diamond Audio mono amp and the sound is just better.
(Trust me, a mono amp for your subs is necessary for full, rich, reproductive sound) I wonder what the 10″ EVL subs sound like? Should I find out????.
No complaints about these sdr 18s. They hit hard and drop low also. I’m running them on a skar rp 1200 so they are slightly under powered and still sound good. I plan to upgrade to a skar 2000 watt amplifier in the future.
Skar has good quality speakers and amplifiers at fair price range. I recommend skar audio over any of the over priced big name audio brands.
Worse product I every bought. Had terrible screeching sound. Should have did a little more research on this company they don’t try to help you only had installed for 4 days. They keep trying to make it seem like you don’t know what your doing.
But I’ve had my kickers for years put them back in they worked perfectly fine. But SKAR audio terrible.
This was my first JBL/ Harmon Kardon product I’ve ever purchased so I can’t really speak on their quality but as far as this JBL GX1200 I was not satisfied. The price was $129. 99 at the time (One month ago) I returned it back to the store after the two weeks return policy to allow it to break-in so I didn’t want to get the wrong idea since it was brand new.
I still wasn’t satisfied after that. So I picked up a Kicker Comp R. It was a major improvement over the JBL especially from the build quality and sound quality. I understand it was a single 4 ohm coil at 250 watts rms whereas the Kicker Comp R is dual voice coil 4 ohms.
My amp pushed 500 watts rms but the JBL subwoofer acted as if it was too much. I would consider the JBL GX1200 comparable to the entry level Kicker Comp 150 watts rms subwoofers. I’d imagine you spend that much for a subwoofer it would be pretty decent but I was wrong.
Picked up a few of these as deal of the day for $29 each. That’s ridiculously cheap. Yes $29 for a quality brand name recognized subwoofer. These things are pretty loud with moderate power. I’m talking 200-250 watts sounds like a much more expensive system than it is.
Even set for sound quality it’s very impressive. They’ve taken everything I’ve tossed at them so far.
Using them for home theater application in a Push-Pull configuration. Car audio Continuous Power and RMS Power Rating have gone nuts since I did my system. Build quality is fine for the price but I won’t expect them to last at rated specs for very long.
At realistic power levels they are a good value for me.
Add bass to your vehicle by installing this Boss CH12DVC subwoofer. The Boss subwoofer is rated at 1800-Watt maximum and features a polypropylene cone, rubber surround and dual 4 ohms impedance. The subwoofer has 86dB sensitivity and 36 Hz resonant frequency.
It hits these frequencies with a polypropylene cone and rubber surround. The recommended enclosure volumes are 1. 2 cu. ft. for a sealed enclosure or 1. 7 cu. ft. for a ported enclosure With a dual voice coil subwoofer you have more wiring configuration possibilities.
If you decide to add additional subwoofers, wiring configurations can be easily matched to optimize the amps power output. Impress your friends and make your ride sound great with the Boss CH12DVC subwoofer.
They lasted few month because they cannot handle my monoblock that has 3200 rms. Its all about you need to tune the sound properly they will last more. They really blast all f**king neighbors every time you turn the sound on piss them off all you want but they will last less if you keep abuse that bad.
They are great for whose keep it down and go easy on it. Thats it. Great price for max sound but wont last you more than 3 month. If you want max the number, keep look.
Bought 2 to put in a ported box with a SSL 4000 watt 1 ohm stable amp because according to these subs power ratings they should be able to handle 4600watts. WHAT A JOKE!! Even running a 1ohm load, a Sound Storm Labs amp is not truly putting out 4000 Watts! Maybe half of that if Im lucky.
I fried 1 of the 2 subs within 5 minutes with the amp up half way just trying to tune it. I figured maybe I shouldve given it some break in time. so I ordered another! Blew that one too the first day I turned it up to half power! Total pieces of Crap!.
The Boss Audio Chaos CH12DVC 1,800 watts subwoofer is an excellent buy without a doubt. The Chaos 1,800 delivers performance on par with any of the top name brands. Believe me when I say any of the top brands.
I went to bed tonight with amazement written all over my face. One word of caution, please play at half volume for 3 to 4 hours before pushing them hard.
The Select Series Subwoofers come in 8 inch, 10 inch, and 12 inch in black steel baskets. DS18 understands the demands of many inexperienced car audiophiles and fiscally responsible deal-finders. These subwoofers’ success relies in their ability to deliver better quality and RMS power than all other entry level offerings of their competition.
Put these in my gt350 in the rear deck. Had to get the adapters and put them in upside down then hang the speakers. Theres no way to get these in the stock location, from the top, without taking out the back glass.
The magnets on these are HUGE. I am still waiting for my amp to get here but theyve already added bass. Very happy with the purchase already.
These are great for small enclosures I upgraded from a skar ix-10 and I call tell you that it’s true, you get what you pay for. This sub performed much better and the sound was superior. It love low notes 20-30Hz in my 0.
The NVX VS-Series is the perfect subwoofer solution. Designed from the ground up, the series utilizes excellent engineering found in the higher end NVX subwoofers. It features a non pressed treated paper cone with a custom tooled and optimized PP dust cap.
Keeping the cone under control is a high-roll foam surround that is specially treated to give you maximum excursion. The VSW122V2 uses a 2. 5 inch high-temperature aluminum voice coil that provides maximum current distribution and has a power handling range of 450-600 watts RMS.
The subwoofer also features a shorting ring which is a conductive aluminum ring placed in the air gap between the pole piece and the voice coil former to reduce inductance, which in turn reduces distortion and allows the subwoofer to accurately play a higher part of the bass spectrum.
All of these elements combined produce tight, deep and accurate bass that is sought after by bass-heads and audiophiles.
So, I purchased one of these along with a NVX NDA102 1500W Peak (750W) RMS N-Series Class-D 1-Ohm Stable Monoblock Amplifier, and a prefabbed box from SONIC ELECTRONIX. Let me tell you just this one 10-inch sub with gains turned up about 3 quarters of the way up straight hit and I mean the bass is exceptional its so clean and crisp but deep! I was skeptical at first cuz I went to a local store in my city and spent 820 dollars on 2 10-inch Memphis audio street edge subs and was told that they will hit hard and come to find out that they were only allowed to push 200 RMS max which is about a quarter of what this can push.
Long story short I got burned and then I discovered this website and was doing research and came upon these products from NVX. Purchased these and spent $396. 13 and installed it with my father and havent looked back!! These subs from NVX are quality made and this WEBSITE is 100% LEGIT! VERY HAPPY THANKS SONIC ELECTRONIX.
The newly designed e Xcelon Xr-W12F slim subwoofer features an oversized diaphragm with a carbon glass fiber honeycomb cone. It delivers outstanding bass reproduction. The cone area of the diaphragm has been increased by 25%, resulting in deeper bass and increased output.
Now at last. all Kenwood Excellon System!! You will not find a better sub for not only for the price but also for the sound!! The combination you use is paramount for sound quality result!! I have it hooked up to a Kenwood 5 channel amp (X 801-5) and a DDX6903S radio, combined with (4) 3 way 6.
5 KFC-1695PS speakers, equalized with a Clarion EQS-775 on my Jeep Wrangler 2011. It sounds like if I had $3000. 00 invested on the sound system!!! Outstanding, clear, un-distortioned, powerful sound!! Buy it.
dont doubt!! You are going to be impressed!! 5 stars!!.
Was nervous about getting this sub because of the lack of reviews, but it is freaking amazing. I get happier and happier every time i here it. I used to have two type r 12s and was bummed when i got my new truck and could not fit them, thought about getting the type r shallow but they cost way too much.
I bought one of these and am so happy, i will deffinitely buy another. I have it in a. 68 box which is a lil small for the sub, but it still sounds amazing. It hits rediculously hard, it does struggle just a bit with the lows but they still sound pretty good, it might just be because my box is too small; ill find out when i build a bigger new box to fit two they will have 1.
Talk about “King Kong in the trunk!” Sheesh, I really feel like I made the right purchase at Car Toys! Truly a better way to go! (Yes, I did shop around before and after going to Car Toys and no other place compared, not even close!).
The Monolith dual 12″ THX certified ultra subwoofer sets the standard for bass output, low distortion, and affordability. With chest thumping bass that plays down to well under 20 Hz, the Monolith subwoofer unleashes cinema level volume, with the ability to convey and articulate the subtle nuances of music.
was originally going to get an svs 13 sealed, and then saw a sub reviewer on youtube talking about how amazing the pb400 are, and that two of them would be perfect. Two giant subs in my room was a bit much, but this unit sideways in the corner has barely passable spouse approval factor.
I debated heavily between this and two 12’s. I know that duals duals duals is all that you read, but there are some technical papers that indicate having one sub with the best performance can be a better choice in some situations.
I also shopped this against Rhytmik, but felt that their tech was a bit behind. I added some of the SVS isolation pads, but this still caused a glass shower door to go slightly loose on the other side of the wall, needing realignment.
The amount of pressure that this creates in the room is quite amazing, if you think that you need two, you probably don’t. One of these subs is truly amazingly powerful and must be experienced to be understood.
I read about subs for a year, most people getting something smaller, and then upgrading until they reached the top of the line. I decided to save myself the money and get this beast off the bat. No regrets, if you have the room, I don?t think anything compares for the price.
I honestly think that the 13 would?ve been enough, but am still glad I went big. Just be aware that you do need to pay an extra $150 for shipping, or whatever the exact amount is, if it is going to a residential home.
At least I did. Might be worth it to roll the dice and see if they forget to charge you, but the amount that Monoprice quoted was less than what fed ex billed, $130 vs $160 I think.
The XFL Series subwoofers from American Bass Are arguabley the best on the market today. With a non pressed paper cone, Aluminium basket and a huge motor structure these woofers are designed to please both the person looking for High SPL and the most descernin listener!.
This sub is all business. Hooked up to an old school PPI before they were bought out circa 2000. I’m pushing a true 1000 rms on it and it absolutely pounds. This is in a generic off the shelf $50. 00 ported box I had laying around.
Was pushing an MTX thunder 9000 before and it was a very good sub. But this thing is on another level for 1/2 what I paid on the MTX. Occasionally I would get a whiff of the coild burning but not now.
Careful you can and will damage yourself or your car before this sub quits. Sq is excellent tho not up to par with my W6’s set up in my van. But 1/3 the cost.
With my jnl gto700. 1 monnoblock in 2. 5 ft3 tuned to 36 hz i hit 142db (on a generic mic so. ). Actually still has very good sound quality also. Will definitely be buying more and recommending it to others.
I have been installing car audio for over 20 years now,and this is far the best woofer in it’s price range, maybe even best in double it’s price range.
If you are seeking intensely powerful sub-bass that compromises nothing in terms of sound quality, the 12W6v3 is your ultimate ally. This highly advanced subwoofer driver offers several technologies shared with the flagship W7AE subwoofers to provide powerful advantages in motor linearity and suspension behavior.
These combine with a very efficient cooling circuit to deliver reduced distortion and outstanding dynamic balance. The 12W6v3 is best used with amplifier power in the 200W – 600W range and is optimized to operate in a sealed enclosure with only 1.
0 cu. ft. (28. 3 l) of air space, or a 1. 3 cu. ft (36. 8 l) ported enclosure. Detailed enclosure recommendations can be found in the “Specifications” tab. Greater excursion capability and higher power handling distinguish it from our 12W3v3 12-inch subwoofer driver, allowing for higher output.
Dual 4 Ω voice coils permit deploying the W6v3 as a 2 Ω or 8 Ω driver.
I have a 12w6v3-4 in the JL-HO110, powered by their XD600, which is supposedly perfectly matched together. I have had my setup for over the warranty period, so I understand some hassle. That being said, somehow the voice coils are merged together (assume one broke and is now touching the other).
How this happened is beyond me considering I am 46 years old, listen to country music, and don’t even come close to pushing the sub to what it is supposedly capable of. I got the same response as the other reviewer, which boils down to well pay us $350, and we will rebuild it and send it back.
Really? There is no way this is not a sub malfunction! I would think they would stand behind their almost $800 sub a little better. Last time I checked I thought they were JL Audio not Pyramid Audio.
Nice game they have sell a sub for $800 it fails and then sell a $350 rebuild fee, which there is no way should be that much. Oh well serious lesson learned. There is no reason to pay up for JL Audio anymore when the quality, and more importantly, their standing behind their product seems to have gone by the wayside.
I will say the people at customer service were very nice, and spent the time to talk with me. But in the end, it boils down to “do you have a receipt that shows 2 years or not”. Regardless, I have a really pretty, heavy, useless sub that was built by you and failed long before it should have and at no fault of the install or the end user.
The 12W1v3 is a lightweight 12-inch driver with excellent performance capabilities at moderate power levels. It features moderate mounting depth with no pole-vent, so the rear of the motor structure can be placed directly against an enclosure boundary.
Excellent excursion capability and linearity allow it to reproduce sub-bass with shocking extension and quality. Several of JL Audio’s proprietary technologies enhance its performance and reliability.
I’ve been using JL Audio subs in my cars since the 90s when I bought my first one, a 10W6. That sub was an absolute game changer, and this new 10W1 is better. I couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase.
I bought it to replace the NVX driver in this cheap setup that I picked up because JL doesn’t (yet) make a stealthbox for my Model 3. The driver that was in my NVX fiberglass enclosure was literally trash.
It took them 3 months and 4 attempts to get me a working sub, and when I got one that worked, the sound quality and frequency response was not any better than my factory sub, just a bit louder. I removed that driver and installed this W1, and immediately noticed better deep bass rather than a single spike at 50hz as I had before.
Should have gone with JL from the beginning, as I always had done in the past.
I bought this subwoofer to replace a sub (different brand) I had under the rear seat of my pickup for about 10 years. I wish I would have went with JL much sooner. I am very impressed by the accurate hard hitting bass.
It makes my system sound like a million bucks! This subwoofer is great for small enclosures and relatively low powered amps.
Purchased two of these 12’s and ran them off of a slash 500/1 in a ported enclosure. Nice tight & clean bass for the first month (break in period). After a month I put the gain up to half and BOOM, these guys completely excelled my expectations!.
The line of shallow subwoofers is designed to provide wider installation possibilities for a broad range of vehicles. These shallow-mount subwoofers feature multiple patent-pending features to deliver the big bass performance of a full-size subwoofer, but in a compact design that can be installed either behind or under seats depending on the type of vehicle.
The mounting depth is just 3-3/8″ – less than half a typical subwoofer in this class. This 12″ shallow subwoofer handles 1500 Watts maximum, 400 Watts nominal power, and delivers deep bass with top-notch sound quality thanks to features like Pioneer’s MICA injection-molded resin which gives it the ability to produce accurate bass.
I purchased this sub for a 2000 Ranger regular cab. Based on reviews i had good expectations of this sub, but just how hard can one shallow sub actually hit?? I am a big fan on 10″ subs because of how clean they can be when playing Rock music, but went with the 12″ due to concerns of a flat subs ability to deliver solid bass.
I built a sealed enclosure per Pioneers recommendations and powered it with a Polk PA880 monoblock i had on hand. The results are amazing!!! I never dreamed it was possible to get this much rich bass from a flat sub!! The 12″ sub is right at home with Rap, R&B, and Dubstep.
It gets a little muddy with Rock music but i am more than satisfied with its Rock music capability. This sub is a beast!! You WILL NOT be disappointed.
I ordered two of these for my Ford F150 and they sound amazing!! I wish Had bought them sooner. Ive had them for a few months now and Im very pleased. I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for shallow subs for their pick up.
It took about 3 days to get them, well worth the wait. I paid $150. 00 for them and that included tax. I paid nothing for shipping, they were sent to the store for me to pick up, so no shipping charge.
With these speakers you can literally feel every beat, so clear and such pure sound. I wish i had this kind of bass in my dodge charger. Don’t get me wrong i have subs in my charger, but they don’t sound like these.
If your in doubt, don’t be. Order these today. Side note ** even thought speakers say 12″ i think they are 1/2 bigger because we bought the box before we got the speakers and we had to use a small saw to open the hole up a little bit to get the speakers to fit correctly.
Building on the core technology of our TW5 thin-line subwoofers, the new TW3’s deliver a powerful combination of shallow mounting depth and excursion capability. In fact, they are capable of greater excursion than the W3v3’s.
Im usually a fan of Rockford subs, have used them many times over my 25+ yrs in the car audio game, but this time I decided to try something different. I needed a shallow mount and, after doing a little research, I settled on a pair of 12tw3s.
I have used JL in the past and have had good luck, plus they have an excellent reputation, so my expectations were high. These subs do not disappoint. I have them in a sealed, downward firing box, under the back seat in my Chevy Silverado.
Theyre powered by a Rockford T750 amp running at 1ohm and they hammer extremely well. especially for a shallow mount sub. They obviously dont hit like my old Rockford T112D4s but thats to be expected as they only require about 1/4 of the interior volume.
Not to mention theyre W3s and not W7s. If you have limited space and need a shallow mount subwoofer you will not be disappointed. Excellent sound, very well made and they hit hard. All in all they are an excellent product and typical JL Audio; High quality.
I have 1x 12tw3-d4 installed in a 2020 f150 crew cab platinum in a down fire under rear seat non ported box powered by a rd500, integrated with a lc2i pro and it freaking slams!!! Nice pure clean real bass! JL audio is the top of the line in my opinion! Don t question it just buy it and you will be overly happy!!.
The 12W7Ae brings serious performance to the table by combining the breakthrough of the long-excursion W7 design with a large 12-inch bore. It has been called “addictive,” “seductive” and “the new subwoofer reference”, by some of the world’s toughest reviewers, and has earned these accolades by delivering nearly limitless dynamics, exceptional balance and world-class sound quality.
There are a few things to consider when choosing a 12″ subwoofer for bass. The first is the power handling. How much power can the subwoofer handle The second is the sensitivity. How much sound does the subwoofer produce for a given amount of power The third is the frequency response.
What is the lowest frequency the subwoofer can reproduce The fourth is the size. How big is the subwoofer The fifth is the price. How much does the subwoofer cost.
The best 12″ subwoofer for bass is the one that can handle the most power, has the highest sensitivity, has the lowest frequency response, is the biggest size, and costs the most money.
