According to good ol’ Puxatawney Phil, spring is just around the corner. Be prepared for warmer days and more sunshine by incorporating a few of the trends that are popping up like crocuses and tulips this season. You’ll not only stay au courant, but updating your daily look in small ways can help you feel a little more alive – just like spring itself.  Think of it as growing season for you and your closet.

Pattern Play

Monochromatic looks will always have a place in the fashion world but during the budding months of spring we see bold choices and the ability to have a little fun after a long winter.

  1. The Statement Heel: While leopard prints and jewel tones colors are fun in the colder months we can look forward to sliding on a pair of statement heels in patterns of bright colors, floral or geometric prints and even a dash of embroidery. Thick heels or thin – an embellished shoe looks gorgeous and adds pop to any look.
  2. Bold Stripes: Why be basic when you can be bold? Stripes return every spring just like April showers and this year is no different. A bold striped skirt will definitely put a spring in your step.
  3. Botanical Prints: Floral has been all the rage for the past few years, including this past winter’s dark hued bouquets. Think a springy botanical print skirt matched with neutral shoes and top. Keep accessories simple too.
  4. Tie-Dye: Don’t be afraid of this blast from the past – call it surfer-chic instead. Tie-Dyed sweaters, tops and slip on sneakers offer a laid back casual-chic look when styled with another spring trend – white cropped denim.

Do Denim

Speaking of our durable friend denim, there are two trends that stand out this spring season. First, is the fall favorite; the flared denim look. Dress it up or down. Wear a dark or light wash, it doesn’t matter. The only thing that does matter is to find a flattering fit. Next, is white cropped denim pants. Nothing says warmer weather than a slim cut pair of these versatile cuties.

Shoe Fetish

When it comes to shoes the slide sandals are definitely in. Narrow at the base and thick across the foot they make a comfortable statement that goes with cropped pants to A-line skirts and so much in between. Don’t be afraid to fall for flats either. Pointy-toed flats with a feminine flair will be all the rage in tweeds and other luxe fabrics.
