We may be at the tail end of spring but the new bumper crop of trends blooming right can easily be worn now and through summer and well into autumn. Think of it as saving time and money when you pick up a selection or two from the latest ideas coming to stores and websites near you.

Black Beauty

Earlier in the year it was all light and pretty floral prints adorning everything from purses to shoes, skirts and shirts. For the last part of the season things go dark. Think brighter blooms in reds, yellow and purple with vibrant green stems and leaves. Embroidered flowers, jeweled or made from ribbon, it does not matter. A simple print will suffice too. It is a deep, dark-toned style that works on everyone. A backdrop of black is all over as the floral motif lights up the look. A touch of leather, a zipper detail or strands of chain link in gold or silver add shine to the gorgeously dark and pretty trend. It transitions perfectly into the fall and winter months as well.

Polished Punk

That’s right. You read that correctly. Polished punk is going to be everywhere in the next few months. It’s all about incorporating pearls, studs and pinstripes into your daily outfit. We all love a bit of edge to our buttoned-up style so why not add a pearl-studded clutch to a simple black and white ensemble? Take a classic men-style pantsuit in pinstripe and add a heeled boot. Rhinestone skulls will stay the course from now until next season, so rock them while you still can and add them to your everyday black pants and white shirt for a dash of polished punk.

Color Block 2.0

Color blocking has been around for the last few seasons, which is great for those of us who love the trend and picked up more than a few pieces to round out our wardrobe.  Now it has gone next level. As you head into the next season look for ways to add stripes of color blocking to your closet. Maybe it is a shoe or a sweater that has horizontal or vertical colorblock stripes. Color block stripes in a thick pattern that mix a color or two with black are very on-trend right now. Stack a mixture of colored and black leather or cloth bracelets to create this look. Boots and heels in suede or leather work well to punch up an all-black look. Find a structured clutch or lady-like bag in a color block stripe for a pop of color and style.
