What to Wear to Stay Warm in Your Little Black Dress
December 27, 2011
I’m sure you’ve been in a situation before when you have the cutest LBD (Little Black Dress) to wear to a New Year’s Eve party, but the weather is not cooperating with your fashion choices. It’s freezing outside and you need something to cover up with to stay warm, but that still looks fashionable.
There’s no need to spoil your gorgeous dress with an awful bulky sweater or outdoor coat. You can stay warm and still look good all night long.
These wraps and jackets will not only compliment your LDB, but also other New Year’s Eve dresses.
Capes
We’re not talking Batman capes here. There are super chic capes that look great with a dress. Capes are actually quite versatile and can be worn with a dress or for dressing up a pair of jeans.

Shrugs
Shrugs are a nice choice for when it is just a little chilly outside. They are made for covering up your arms to keep you warm, but are open in the front to show off your beautiful party dress.
Shrugs come in different materials such as lace and cotton. If you are going to a very dressy party, opt for the lace shrug.

Wraps
Wraps are one of my favorite ways to keep warm, whether I am wearing a dress or a pair of jeans. Most wraps are designed like a giant scarf, so there are many ways to wear them. You can choose to only cover your neck and wear it like a scarf, or unwrap it completely to cover your arms, neck and back.
The ruffled wool/cashmere wrap pictured below comes in 9 beautiful colors.

Shearling Jacket
A shearling jacket is very dressy and will definitely turn some heads. For those of you who like to steer clear of any kind of fur, this vegan faux fur jacket from ModCloth is the perfect choice. You can dance the night away while looking fierce.

Wool Jacket
For weather that calls for a very warm jacket, a wool jacket is the way to go. Choose a wool jacket that has a little bit of a feminine touch, with an added belt and a ruffle or two. Hopefully your New Year’s Eve party will be inside where it’s nice and warm and then you can lose the jacket all together.
