The color cobalt blue is everywhere right now. It was seen on the spring runways and has quickly surfaced on the shelves of retailers from department stores, boutiques and even some big box discount stores. A quick peek into your local Gap, Banana Republic or Nordstrom will reveal a slew of cobalt blue clothing, accessories and even beauty supplies. It’s a color that works on most and can be used in a lot of ways. Here are four ways to work it into your summer wardrobe.

Signature Piece

Cobalt blue makes a statement so what better way to wear it than with a signature piece?  As stated before, Banana Republic is all over this trend.  Their use of the color in accessories is particularly chic and easy to integrate.  From a pretty blue Paige wristlet to scarves you can drape around your neck, head, tie on a bag or use as a belt, the BR is a great place to find cobalt pieces.  Adding just a touch of this vibrant color is a simple way to stay current without making a big or expensive commitment to the trend.

Color Block

Just color block it, baby!  Color blocking is really big right now and one of the best ways to work this particular trend is by using this bright blue color.  ModCloth featured summer sundresses in cobalt and jade green that would work now and layered in the cooler months.  Adding a solid cobalt mini to a bright yellow or black tank is another fun option.  Look no further than your local Target for some affordable finds.

Make a Splash

Cobalt is one cool color. It’s adds a jolt of electricity to your basic black skirt, khaki or white pants.  Pair it with these closet staples for work and it will add a splash of color that makes a statement.  I love when I see a bright cobalt blue shell peeking out from under a blazer or pair of dress pants.  It takes the outfit up a notch and eliminates any dreariness that can be found when wearing a pair of tried and true khaki pants.

Make it Up

Summer is a good time to add and experiment with your make-up.  Picking up cobalt eyeliner might be just the thing for a dose of sun and fun to your beauty arsenal. Cover Girl’s Perfect Blend eyeliner is budget-friendly and low commitment.  Getting married and looking for your something blue?  Bright cobalt blue toes are a trendy take on this tradition.  Butter London’s ‘Blagger’ is a rather striking option that is also DBP free.

A word of warning though: cobalt blue looks great with basics and can be worn all year round.  You might find yourself extending these tips and pieces into the fall.
