Sharp color combinations can add spice to your look and wake up a tired closet.  Take one look at the runway hit of black and white and you know it is true.  See a new way to piece together what you already own, or create entirely new ensembles, with this year’s hottest color pairings. Chances are you only need a few new pieces to work some color magic this spring.

Yellow & Grey

This set was seen just a few seasons ago and has come out of hiding once again, only now the yellow has more of an edge. Push aside winter’s mustard-hued pieces and go brighter with lemon yellow for today’s spring. Adding this citrus version of the sunny color to a pair of pearl grey dress pants perks up everyday office attire. The grey becomes your neutral tone and allows you to tone down the electric tone of yellow. Take a light grey cardigan set and match it to a lemon yellow skirt or dress. Keeping the accessories light and neutral completes the look.

Red, Navy & Lavender

This might seem like a tough one but when done right it is fresh and absolutely gorgeous.  To pull off this pairing use a strong, deep navy and a bold red with a hint of lavender peeking through as an accent.  Wearing the two primary colors (red and navy) always works but when you enhance with the softer toned lavender it creates a stylish outfit that works in the office, at brunch, just running errands, or for a hot date night.  Take a red pair of pants and navy blazer you might already own and instead of using a neutral white or cream color splice in a simple lavender shirt underneath.  Add red accessories or hints of gold and neutral leather shoes and you are good to go.  It says “Happy Spring!” each time.

Turquoise, Blush & Jade

Coral and mint get a lot of face time these days and that is just fine. That color combination adds whimsy and a bit of a tropical element to your day.  What about the equally vivid turquoise, blush and jade combo?  The blush is your neutralizing piece while the jade and turquoise work together for a bold offering that says, “Pool time!” Make it work friendly by taking the bold colors down a bit and using the blush tone as your base.  For example, a blush shaded sheath is jazzed up with jade accessories and a turquoise jacket or sweater paired with it.  It is also the perfect time to break out the brighter shoes and really rock the outfit you have made.

Get inside your closet today and see what bright colors you have and can wear with again and pair with other sometimes forgotten items.  I can guarantee you will come up with some whole new looks for spring.
