It’s almost here. The Thanksgiving feast. You can’t remember why you agreed to it, but you’re hosting the whole fam this year. While the main attraction will be the big bird and all the fixings, don’t forget to dress yourself up too! Here are a few tips to help you have the most stylish Thanksgiving ever:
Dress it up.
Dresses are simple, comfortable and instantly make you look put together. Choose one of your favorites for Thanksgiving. Stick with something with clean lines that you can wear with leggings or tights. Also, dark colors or patterns are a good bet because if you accidentally spill something on your outfit, it won’t require a wardrobe change.
Heels may make you feel like you can take on the world, but a few hours hovering over a hot stove and rushing back and forth refilling drinks for your guests will have your tootsies crying for mercy. Instead of putting yourself through any unnecessary pain, opt for a pair of festive flats. Choose something with a bit of sparkle for a nod toward the celebratory vibe of the evening.
Keep it under wraps.
No matter what you decide on wearing, splashes of cranberry sauce and gravy won’t do any outfit justice. Be sure to wear a pretty apron to cover up while you’re working your magic as head chef. If you’re looking for something super cute, try Anthropologie for their wide range of kistchy aprons.
If you have medium to long hair, opt to wear your locks up and out of the way as you prepare your food. Many a great meal has been destroyed by a wayward hair. Ensure your tendrils don’t become part of the entree by putting your hair in a ponytail, top knot or bun so that your food – not your hair – takes centre stage.
Now that you have your Thanksgiving “look” all pulled together, all you have left to do is cook the turkey, make the sides and …well, nevermind. It’s easy to get caught up in the pages long to-do list, but this day is really about spending time with family and friends, sharing what you are grateful for and maybe even watching some of the game.
