New Year’s Eve 2020 … the end of one decade and the beginning of something entirely new. Much like the entrance of the new Millennium, this year’s NYE style forecast looks at all things beautiful and bright. Bring on the metallics and the statement shoes! Look at any clothing website, or comb the racks from Target to Saks, and you will find an array of all these styles to wear to ring in the new year and new decade.
Casual & Chic: Not planning a night out on the town? Don’t worry … you can easily style up your latest pair of straight leg jeans or leggings (preferably faux leather or velvet) with a pair of statement shoes. Think leopard print loafers or heels. Invest in velvet flats with jewels perched on top or even a gold chain across the foot of the shoe. Block heel metallic sandals circa the 1990s are here again and look great with either type of pants. Not feeling the high shine shoes. That’s OK. You can dress up your denim with a puff sleeve top or sweater in a bright color like pink or a vibrant green. A velvet or satin camisole trimmed in lace dresses up any look too. Keeping it casual and chic means you can shop your closet too.
Simply Satin: If sparkles don’t do a thing for you and sequins are not your deal, I’ve got you covered because most years it’s not mine either. Satin dresses are having a moment thanks to that retro rotation of loving the 90s once again. The slippery satin feel makes everyone feel amazing and when paired with another season hit like a faux fur coat you will be stepping out in style.
All that Glitters: If you don’t fall into the camp of casual chic or simply satin this New Year’s Eve, try this on for size. Take advantage of the 20’s decade by wearing completely modern pieces inspired by the 1920s. Dresses and tops in Art Deco patterns are a hit and you can pair them with chunky heels or booties to enter this new decade. The Gatsby-Esque looks are the biggest trend for ringing in 2020. The look is fun, festive, and all things positive and bright. Who wouldn’t want to kick off a brand-new decade with something classic and reborn?
Make a Statement: When all else fails and the LBD comes out to play … that’s fine. It never goes out of style. Neither does the LBT (the little black top). Paired with a skirt and over-the-knee boots, the LBT keeps you on-trend. Or match it with jeans and booties or heels. An LBT with a cut-out neckline is also an easy way to style yourself this December 31. Fringe statement earrings dress up the LBD or T too.
Need a little more glamour with that LBT? Let your metallic or sequin pants dress you up. Worn wide-leg or as leggings, paper-bag pants or classic trousers, these are a great way to shine. I wore sequin leggings last year to at NYE party paired with slip-on sneakers and an off the shoulder sweatshirt. I was comfortable and stylish the whole night through!
Whatever you decide to do this new year, remember that it’s all about feeling your best and most festive as you countdown to 2020 with those nearest and dearest to you. Cheers!
