The 2013 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is upon us!  While New York is buzzing about the shows, the celebs and latest looks, we here at SocialMoms have honed in on the hot trends and latest looks for hair and make-up.

Metallic Eyes

The eyes have it this season.  Playing up your eyes is the best way to stay on trend for fall. Metallics are still in for shadows and work perfectly for a night out.  The biggest thing to remember is to highlight your eyes using eyeliner or an eye shadow – but not both this year. Natural and neutral brown shadows can be used with a thin application of eyeliner during the day but nighttime is all about bold strokes of bright plum or turquoise shades of shadow or eyeliner used separately. Bobbi Brown’s Rich Chocolate Eye Palette Collection is a great option that features several spot on brown and bone shadows that can create numerous, natural looks.

The cat eye is another way to draw attention to the eyes.  Wing it up or straight out from the eye for a more dramatic effect.

Berry Lips

Say good-bye to the poppin’ pinks and hot coral hues of summer and hello to the gorgeously berry stained lips of fall.  A dark lip is triumphant right now with bright red , rosy shades and even a dark plum to plump up your pout. Kevyn Aucoin’s ‘Bloodroses’ lipstick is the ultimate deep, dark broody red. Use a satin finish or creamy lipstick for the best application. If these “statement” lips are too bold then keep it simple and use a nude shade lipstick that is darker than your normal nude. A non-glossy, satin version is your best bet.

Matte Face

Fall is all about illuminating your face without the shine.  Matte oil-free foundation is a key component to the fall and winter face. Keep your skin shine-free by using a Beauty Blender sponge to apply your foundation for a clean, gorgeous finish that stays put for hours. An oil-free primer and make-up finishing powder goes a long way to stopping the shine. And don’t forget a light dusting of bronzer and highlighter for contouring to create a natural, non-dewy face.

Healthy Hair

Your lovely locks need to hydrate after the summer’s harsh sun. Hair styles may come and go but healthy hair is always in.  Keep hair looking good with shine inducing, frizz reducing, deeply conditioning leave-in treatments that gives fragile hair a boost.  Ouidad Omega 3 Replenishing Treatment is just the thing to salve your fried summer hair craves.
