Rosé All Day: 5 Fun Ways to Observe National Rosé Day with Friends

Whether it’s still, semi-sparkling or sparkling, highly dry, sweet or a beautiful blush, it’s always a delight to indulge in a glass of rosé wine. Made from a wide variety of grapes and found all around the globe, rosé is a type of wine that incorporates some of the color from the grape skins, but not enough to qualify it as a red wine. Pop open a bottle on June 8, 2019, National Rosé Day, to celebrate this favorite wine.
“There’s a camaraderie that wine lovers have, because all they all share in their appreciation for great wine,” explains Blake Helppie, managing partner at Rosé Piscine, a wine specifically made to drink over ice. “If you have never had a special event or activity to observe the day, you are missing out. Make this a year that you mark the day with some fun in its honor. Not that we need an excuse to enjoy some wine among friends, but it’s a nice way to set the tone, enjoy the evening, and observe the holidays.”
Here are some fun hosting ideas for National Rosé Day:
Host a wine trivia night. If you’re a big-time wine geek, pick up Wine Wars, a fun trivia game that tests your wine knowledge and have you swirling, sniffing, and sipping with over 750 questions, including categories such as Vine to Vino (growing grapes and making wine) and Cork Culture (wine people and the business). Host a wine bottle exchange. Wine Enthusiast offers a great guide to hosting a wine bottle exchange: Write guests’ names on slips of paper and put them in a bowl. Draw a name, and let that person choose a wine from the table of unopened bottles to take home. Draw the next name, and let that person either “steal” the first person’s wine, or choose a new bottle from the table.
Host a paint and sip party. If you haven’t hosted a “paint and sip” party, there’s no better day than today. Paint everything from a pallet to a tote bag to your next modern masterpiece as you sip wine with friends. Host an outdoor wine movie night. Take advantage of the warmer weather, which pairs perfectly with a chilled glass of rosé, and host an outdoor movie night.
