Mason jar salads are the freshest trend in produce this summer. Recipes are popping up everywhere, whether it’s your favorite magazine or Pinterest or even vending machines. Summer is an excellent time to be on the go and eat healthy with the best that the season has to offer. Let’s perfect our Mason jar salad recipes so we can eat them all year long.

Like any other salad, Mason jar salads, can become unhealthy if loaded with the wrong ingredients. They can also wilt, mix badly or become oversaturated with dressing if you don’t prepare them right. Follow these steps to build a better salad. When it is all done, it is like a farmers’ market stuffed into a jar. We promise you will love the results.

  1. First, pour in the dressing.
  2. Next, add your heavy ingredients. You don’t want to bruise or flatten the lettuce or other veggies or fruit. That creates a deflated and unappetizing mix.
  3. Use a wide-mouth jar for easy filling and emptying. Think quart-sized for lunch or dinner salads.
  4. Remember, the salad is meant to be poured into a bowl before serving. You are not expected to eat it out of the jar!!

Whether it is a simple field green salad or a Mediterranean mix we have some super yummy and healthy recipes just for you.
