Kick Up Your Heels for Fall Shoe Trends
August 27, 2020
Ready or not the fall is fast approaching. Soon stores—both brick and mortar and online—will offer up styles to feel festive, stylish, and ready for the cool, crisp fall season. There is one fall fashion fact that hasn’t changed despite the fact that we are currently living in the upside-down. The boot is the base of fall trends each and every year. 2020 is no different. So, let’s get down to business and check out the latest and greatest in boots and shoes this autumn.
Boots Never Left Us
Not going to lie but boots are one of my favorite things about fall fashion. I love slipping on a pair and feeling like my look is complete.
Over the knee boots have played a big part in boots in the last few years. They still will this season. Suede, leather, and PVC are all the rage. Low heel or high you cannot go wrong! And feel free to be a bit bolder with a set of thigh-high boots too.
Rugged style boots that lace up like your old Doc Martens will make you feel like kicking up some fall leaves and some pandemic boredom butt. Followed closely by chunky heels and platforms to bring you right back to some 90s roots. And the ankle boot is now a heavy tread!
Perhaps one of the most fun fall trends in boots is the bold colors you can find this year. Look for vibrant reds, gorgeous greens, and beautiful blues in leather to add some pep into your step.
Whether you are working the platform sole or a basic ballet, the flats are still in for the fall. You can find new ways to stay on the ground in the cooler months with a pair of brogues. Remember those? They were popular a few seasons back and are back again this year. Don’t forget a cute pair of Mary Janes in patent lather to relive your youth. Pair them with a set of socks or go solo and let your feet shine.
It is all in the details this season and it doesn’t matter if you wear strappy sandals with socks (yes, really, they went there!) loafers, or boots. The details matter even when it comes to shoes. Why not embellish a little with our shoes this fall? It will be fun to have something to look at as we traipse around our homes and continue to put our feet up on our coffee tables as we do that WFH life.
Chains on boots are nothing new but they will be more prevalent this autumn. Chunky chains around your ankle, adorning your T-strap on your sandals, and across your foot with your flats are all new for fall 2020.
Statement bows on your heeled sandals or pumps in velvet or pearl material will dress up any understated look you style this fall. Find oversized statement bows on ballet flats, platform heels, and in leather knots on mules. Keep your overall outfit simple when wearing a shoe with this type of detail.
Ruching is flattering on shirts, tanks, and dresses so let’s add it to our shoes! This bit of detail work is showcased on heeled sandals and strappy slides or slingbacks. It is a comfortably new way to work in some detail.
What shoe trends are you looking forward to this fall?
