Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to start detoxing and getting back to healthy living. If you’re feeling the need to focus on making better choices, including healthy ways to pamper your skin, you’re not alone. Our skin is our body’s largest organ, so it’s an excellent place to start.

Cleanse Fully

Are you going to bed at night without cleansing your face? Even worse, are you going to bed with makeup on? One of the most important ways to pamper your skin is to keep it clean. Find a soft cloth and your favorite facial cleanser to remove the impurities from your skin each night.

A cleansing oil will not only remove the makeup from your skin; it will help return healthy hydration at the same time. You can purchase a facial cleansing oil in the beauty department or grab a jar of coconut oil from the kitchen. Both will do a great job.

Steam Facial

A steam facial is similar to spending time in the sauna, except you can enjoy it at home. Steam helps open your pores and remove toxins and impurities. Just fill the sink basin with hot, steaming water, add two tea bags of chamomile tea, and a drop of lavender essential oil. Drape a towel over your head and place your head over the steaming water. Let the steam wash over your face for ten to fifteen minutes as you enjoy the fragrant herbs. This will not only help pamper your skin, it will also soothe your mind.

Exfoliate Regularly

Removing dead skin cells encourages the production of new cells. New cells will give your face a younger, fresher appearance and a healthy glow. You can purchase a facial scrub in the beauty section of your favorite store, or you can make an exfoliating scrub from sugar or sea salt. One of my favorites is this homemade sugar scrub with essential oils. It leaves my skin feeling soft and pampered.

Facial Mask

Activated Charcoal and Bentonite Clay are two ingredients that work wonders to remove toxins from your skin. Depending on your skin type, you may want to limit this kind of beauty treatment to only once or twice a week. Too many masks can dry out your skin. Always return moisture to your skin with a good moisturizing cream once you’ve removed the mask.

Take time each evening to pamper your skin for at least a few minutes. Not only will this help your skin stay fresh and young, but it will help you relax and unwind after a long day.
