Dressing in red, white and blue can be tricky. You don’t want to go overboard and look like a giant American flag with legs, but you do want to look stylish and celebrate the holiday with a cute outfit. Whether you’re celebrating with friends and family at a backyard barbecue, sitting on a boat watching the fireworks or attending a July 4th parade – I have some fantastic Fourth of July Outfits for you today.
Dress It Up
I love wearing maxi dresses in the summer. They’re very flattering, extremely comfortable and as I mentioned before – they are a no-fail key piece for your summer wardrobe. For those of you who have never tried wearing a maxi dress, give it a shot. It just might become your favorite item of clothing in your closet.
In the Fourth of July outfit pictured above, I paired a strapless navy blue maxi dress with a white cardigan and silver jewelry. I then added a red tote for a splash of July 4th color and to carry around all of those necessities.
If you own a pair of white shorts or jeans, you are set for this Fourth of July outfit. White shorts have been one of my fashion obsessions this summer. I found two pairs at Plato’s Closet (another obsession of mine) and I have had so much fun creating outfits around these white shorts, which are perfect for a stars and stripes outfit.
If you can find a cute shirt like this one to pair with your white shorts or jeans, perfect. I searched high and low for a top like the one featured in her article and could not find it. I love how the top is very lightweight, because July where I live is extremely hot.
Since I couldn’t find that top, I created an outfit with a blue striped top – which is perfect for July 4th for obvious reasons.
Let Your Accessories do the Talking
From jewelry and shoes, to handbags and socks – there are some really cute accessories that say July 4th loud and clear. Just wear a simple outfit and then layer on some fun accessories. When I saw the flag aviators pictured here, it just put a big smile on my face. It’s a hint of July 4th without over doing it. Plus, they’re aviators which is a double bonus.
All of these July 4th accessories would compliment a pair of blue jean shorts or skinny jeans. You could wear a white shirt so the accessories are the featured part of your outfit.
Take any of these Fourth of July Outfits and put your own spin on them. I hope you have a fun, safe and fashionable July 4th.
