Classic Shades for Real Summer Style
July 24, 2012
It doesn’t have to be summer to break out the shades. Wearing sunglasses all year round offers benefits to your eye health and protects the delicate skin around your eyes from premature aging and harmful UV rays. Yet summer is when we give sunglasses a serious look and want to show off our own sense of style. So bring on your inner style icon and get ready to go for the glam!
Jackie O was known for her supreme style. She was often seen wearing a particular type of sunglasses that are now known as ‘Jackie O’ frames. Coach offers up a stunning Mother-of-pearl pair that has a classic shape with a soft modern twist. Do you prefer them in black instead? Check out Guess by Marciano’s with Gradient lenses for a rounder, darker feel. Michael by Michael Kors also has a fabulous black version of these signature sunglasses. Fred Flare has a spectacular version for those on a budget and they are lovingly named the ‘Jackie’.
Cat-eye style sunglasses are another great glamour bet as long as you don’t go too retro and risk looking like a bit of a throwback. Cat-eyes offer easy elegance with smooth understated lines that work well all year round. A pair that has wider lenses (like these by Kenneth Cole New York) is a nice, easy version of a cat-eye without looking like you fished them out of your grandmother’s attic.
They say go” big or go home” and you can’t get any bigger than by sporting a pair of shades a la Brigitte Bardot. Her personal sense of style and joie de vivre is always hot and never more than right now. A pair of Retro shades from D&G offers up understated charm while a more budget-friendly option like those from Fred Flare’s ‘Bridget’ version in classic black. They will transport you to St.-Tropez each time you place them on your visage or push them on top of your head.
Seen on everyone from the young to the old, Ray-Ban’s classic ‘Wayfarer’ sunglasses are the true standard in sunglass style. Created in 1952 these shades are the epitome of cool. From coast to coast you will find them in neutral shades of black and tortoise-shell to ultra-hip neon and bright white. A symbol of fashion and creativity for decades the ‘Wayfarer’ style put Ray-Ban on the map. You can dress them up or down and always look in style.
Wherever you are, whatever you do this summer you just have to wear shades!
