February 21, 2013

Sometimes life is too busy to even glance through a magazine, much less follow all the fashion blogs and trends. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with all the essentials and easy styles you can count on this spring!

Bermuda Shorts

The style is universally flattering, family-friendly and easy to dress up or down.  You can wear these shorts anywhere.  Boost a neutral toned pair with strappy sandals or jeweled flats or flops and add a pop of bright color in cobalt blue or coral for added flair.  Throw on some bangles, a set of chandelier earrings or statement necklace and you are ready for date night or a swanky poolside party.  Worn with a t-shirt, gladiator sandals (still big this year) and fedora and you have a look that is casual and stylish.

Bold Stripes

Every time a tulip blooms a girl is seen in a striped shirt.  So goes the style almost every spring.  What’s changed for 2013 is that they are big and bold.  From navy blue stripes with primary colored contrasting stripes there are bold stripes all over.  It’s an all-American, uncomplicated look that always looks cool whether it is with a simple nautical-chic shirt or a maxi dress that takes the look from head to toe. Intermix has a Torn by Ronny Komo peplum version that shows off all the right moves.  Match the bold stripes with jeans, shorts, a solid colored skirt or go bigger and bolder with a dress.  It’s a look that will last for seasons to come.

A-Line of Sass

Sporty, flirty and fun – that is the A-line dress seen on many runways this spring. Models showed off the skater-style frock all over, including at Victoria Beckham’s show.  Typically seen with bared shoulders and a fitted bodice these dresses are versatile.  Wear a fitted tee or dress shirt underneath during colder months or bring out the guns when it’s warm.  Add wedges for a breezy style or high-heels to dress it up.  Throw on a set of canvas sneakers and get casual.  ASOS has loads of styles and colors to fit every taste, body and budget.

Get Low

One of the most practical trends is the low and flat-heeled shoe styles.  The pointy-toe shoe from the 90s is back with a vengeance and placed on the tip of a variety of shoes from ballet flats to chunky but low square-heeled shoes.  Topped off with dainty ankle straps these styles are lady like and quite often show a bit of metallic pointed tips on them.  Lulu’s has a nude pair with a gold cap by Raspy Bamboo that could just be your next go to spring shoe.  Wear these with boyfriend style jeans or to lunch with the ladies to hit the fashion bull’s eye.
