5 Hot Travel Destinations For 2019

Looking to get a head-start on your travel plans? Lonely Planet has shared it’s annual list of Top Cities to visit for 2019. While there seems to be a general trend towards European getaways within the travel industry, the Lonely Planet list includes destinations from all over the world.
Copenhagen, Denmark
There is a lot to see and do in Denmark’s ever-evolving capital, especially if you happen to be a foodie! Refshaleøen, an old industrial area and shipyard, has been transformed into booming food and craft market, Reffen.
In addition to the vibrant street-food scene, visitors can check out the popular amusement park, Tivoli Gardens, the new cultural center, BLOX, and many cross-town adventures while commuting on the soon-to-be completed (mid-2019) Cityringen metro line.
Shēnzhèn, China
While China is known many types of innovation, you’ll want to head to Shēnzhèn if you’re looking for the country’s equivalent of California’s Silicon Valley. Travelers are choosing the city over Hong Kong due to its affordable nightlife, growing number of craft breweries, and new arts district.
So, if you’re looking for a high-tech adventure that also offers a burgeoning indie-music scene, you might want to check out Shēnzhèn on China’s mainland.
Novi Sad, Serbia
This Serbian city’s name means “New Garden” and visitors may be absolutely enchanted by the unique experiences that can be found in Novi Sad which was named the 2019 European Youth Capital. Considering the efforts to revitalize the Petrovardin Citadel’s Lower Town and transformation of Chinatown into a cultural district, it’s not hard to see why.
Novi Sad also hosts the EXIT festival and Gradic Fest, solidifying its future as a hub for travelers seeking a strong music, film, theater, and art scene.
Miami, Florida, USA
While Miami’s reputation has struggled in the past, the city has worked hard to rehab its image. In addition to offering a buzzing nightlife and pristine beaches, Miami has been quietly transforming into a solid foodie destination.
The cultural sector has also been reinvigorated with a $305-million science museum, a wonderful complement to the Museum Garage and the Institute of Contemporary Art located in the burgeoning Design District.
Kathmandu, Nepal
After suffering loss and devastation following the 2015 earthquake, Kathmandu has started to rebuild in a big way. While many of the famous monuments were damaged or destroyed, the locals did not let this crush their spirit and, for that alone, it might be worth the trip.
As the Nepalese work to restore their capital city, there has been a greater emphasis on reducing traffic in an effort to lower smog and noise levels, while striving to ensure reliable electricity and WI-Fi to the area. Many describe that certain beauty and calm has settled into the city as Kathmandu is returned to her original glory.
