3 Items in the The Fall Accessory It List
August 15, 2013
Put away those metallics from years past and punch up your fall/winter style with metal studs, felt fedoras and a plethora of gorgeous shoes in every color.
The biggest trend on the fashion scene this fall and winter is studs. Seen on everything from shoes, purses, jackets and jewelry studs are all over in both silver and gold metals. Take an oxblood structured bag or black leather clutch and puts some spikes and studs on it. From high to low fashion the trend is making its pointy mark. It sits on the tips of heel shoes and sides of boots. Studs encase leather and metal bracelets and wrap themselves around the backs of pumps even pearls get in the mix. The easiest way to incorporate this trend without spending a ton of cash is to pick up a portfolio or envelope style studded clutch in a black or your favorite color. It adds an element of excitement to a basic work outfit and speeds things up on a night out.
Put a Lid on It
The Fedora isn’t going anywhere any time soon. The only change is the fabric. The cold months say good-bye to the straw fedoras and take on a darker more somber look with felt fashioned fedoras. In shades of grey, black, brown, oxblood and eggplant the felt fedora adds serious style to your daily ensemble.
If you loved wearing your bohemian style, floppy felt hats from years past then don’t worry about trading it in. The look is back big time this fall and winter. Seen on runways and the streets the style is still hot in dark shades that recreate 70s style in a classic way. This hat is versatile and can be paired with jeans and knee-high boots, a menswear style suit and or pretty wrap dress.
If the Shoe Fits
For the most part there isn’t much change from last year’s shoe trends to this fall and winter. There are still knee-high and motorcycle boots and a sexier over the knee boot joins the group. Booties, oxford style shoes and flats, with loafers taking precedence over ballet flats are big. Colors run the gamut from earthy to bright and animal prints are everywhere. When it is time to step out for the night the look is very femme fatale. Think 1940’s Hollywood starlets and you get the idea. Thicker soles and stacked heels are everywhere – with t-straps and ankle straps decorating the shoes. A new addition to the shoe scene is the ‘boyfriend’ shoe. Menswear is in for suits and shoes are following with a chunky version that means business.
