The SocialMoms blog of the week this week is This Little Light, written by Michelle Colasante from Bedford, Mass.

Michelle is a stay-at-home mom who loves her home and family. Her house is filled with two men, a crazy dog, and a cat plodding the dog’s demise. Michelle is a fan of old movies, gardening, cooking, shopping, and — of course — caffeine. This Little Light is a blog about finding joy in the everyday simplicity of your life. It focuses on what is simple, good, and wonderful about each ordinary little moment, and allowing those little bits of happiness to sustain you. She has been blogging since 2007.

Michelle describes herself as a real woman, mother, wife, and therefore having a life far from perfect. Michelle loves writing about all the ordinary little life moments that bring her joy. She shares her thoughts on travel, decorating, motherhood, cooking, and any appliance that makes life easier and a home cleaner. Her favorite books include The Help, The Secret Life of Bees and Dandelion Wine. You’ll find U2, Pink Martini, Coldplay, Louis Jordan and Dean Martin on her playlist.

The inspiration for “tll” as it’s called was a personal epiphany — just about a year ago, in August 2010. “Life is filled with small, beautiful, joyful, yet often overlooked daily wonders.” Too often, Michelle realized, that those sweet little doses of happiness get pushed to the side. “Not cool,” says Michelle. “They should be celebrated!”

While you’ll see plenty of posts about her son and life as a mom, Michelle’s true mission is to inspire her readers to find the simple joys in their everyday lives by sharing her joys. She hopes to give her blog visitors a good laugh, a sweet smile, and light-hearted look at their day. As she puts it: “This website is personal. I write from the heart, babe.”

Congratulations, Michelle! We love having you as part of our community.
