If the holiday bills have you thinking about how to earn extra money, you’re not alone. Many people overspend during the holidays and only realize the full impact when the credit card bills start arriving in January. Whether you want to earn extra money to pay for holiday spending or just put a few extra dollars away in the bank each month, these ideas can help.

When many people hear the words earn extra money, they think of getting an extra part-time job. While this is certainly a great option for many people, it doesn’t work for everyone. Depending on the situation, it can result in added childcare costs, the need for another vehicle, or increased insurance costs. So how can you make money? Check out these options!

Decluttering is very popular this year as many Americans realize how overstuffed their homes are. If you’re decluttering your belongings, why not earn money at the same time? Learning how to sell on eBay or how to sell on the Facebook Marketplace is a great way to get rid of things you don’t need and earn a bit of extra money. Or, if you want something quicker, why not consider having a tag sale. Get together with a friend or two for even more attention from local bargain shoppers.

If you enjoy crafting, consider renting a table at a craft fair this year. You’d be surprised how well you can do by selling homemade jewelry, quilts, jams, fudge and a variety of other types of crafts. Make sure that you plan ahead so you have enough time to create your stock. And, don’t forget to consider the cost of materials and renting your table when you make your decision. Another option is to sell on Etsy. A well-timed and structured ad can net you significant sales.

Offer your services to people in your neighborhood. Whether you love children and want to babysit or have a green thumb in the garden, people will pay for that. A few other possibilities include shoveling snow, raking leaves, cleaning, and home repairs.

If you want something you can do in your spare time only when you want to, consider signing up for focus groups or survey sites. While you won’t get rich, you can easily make an extra $50 – $100 a month depending on where you live and the type of sites that you sign up for. As a note, make sure that you look for reputable survey sites. You should never have to pay a fee to join a survey site or participate in a focus group. Focus groups tend to pay more than survey sites. Keep that in mind when deciding which to do.
