Have you noticed a bit of a baby boom lately in Hollywood? If so, you’re not alone. It seems like some of the world’s most famous women are currently preparing for motherhood and we’re here for it!
Been out of the loop? That’s okay. We’ve got you covered! Here’s a quick recap of our favorite mothers-to-be and when we can expect the new babies to make an appearance.
Meghan Markle
When it comes to being an international household name, it’s hard to beat Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. The former actress gained a following as a Deal or No Deal briefcase model and then, most notably, in the role of Rachel Zane on USA Network’s Suits. She’s best known these days, of course, as the strong woman married to Britain’s Prince Harry.
The couple’s whirlwind courtship culminated in a televised royal wedding on May 19, 2018, and speculation began immediately about when the pair would start a family. We didn’t have to wait long since Meghan’s pregnancy was announced in October.
Now the wait begins. The royals do not typically announce their due dates but, when they shared the big news, Kensington Palace said she’d had her “12-week scan” so it looks like Meghan and Harry’s little one should arrive sometimes in spring 2019.
Amy Schumer
Since the timing is so similar, Amy Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, photoshopped their faces over those of Meghan and Harry to announce their own pregnancy last month and the due dates are potentially close together.
Schumer’s parallels to the royal family don’t end there, however. While Meghan seems to have been spared, the comedian was recently hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum, the extreme morning sickness that plagued Kate Middleton during her pregnancies.
While she had to cancel some stand-up shows (she’s already back on tour!), Schumer assured fans that she and her baby are just fine.
Carrie Underwood
It’s been eight years since Carrie Underwood married NHL star, Mike Fisher, in a traditional, southern ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton in Oconee, Georgia. While the couple happily welcomed son, Isaiah, three years ago, they struggled to add more children to their little family.
The singer opened up about the heartbreak they shared after suffering three miscarriages in less than two years. During that time, Underwood was also in a freak accident that left her needing emergency surgery and more than 40 stitches in her face.
Now, the couple are expecting another boy and, based on the timing of her announcement (and her growing baby bump), she’s probably due sometime in early 2019. It just goes to show that, many times, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel if we can just get through those hard times.
