The Royal Baby is Here! Meghan & Harry Welcome Son.

The royal baby watch is officially over. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, also known as Prince Harry and Meghan, have announced the arrival of their son, and the world is rejoicing! While we don’t know the little one’s name yet, everyone seems excited by the news that Meghan has given birth!
Shortly after becoming a father, Harry made a brief appearance where he gushed over the experience, praised his wife, and described the new addition as “very healthy.” He also explained that Meghan had gone past her due date, but gave no indication as to whether she’d given birth at home or at a hospital.
Many have speculated that Meghan would have a home birth, a theory that is bolstered by the fact that, unlike when Prince William and Kate welcomed their three children, there are no doctors signatures on this newest birth announcement.
In these modern times the Duke and Duchess made it Instagram-official before anywhere else. Along with a simple graphic proclaiming, “It’s a Boy!” they included the following caption:
“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.
“The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.”
Skipping the tradition of presenting the baby to the world just hours after birth, Meghan and Harry will share their first family photos in the coming days or weeks. We’re sure many other new moms can relate to wanting to recover a little bit before posing for the camera!
While her relationship with her family has been contentious, Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, had some very kind words to share after learning about the birth: “I’m delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well. I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honor.
God bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and God save the Queen.”
