Last year, mid-Frozen frenzy, my kids found a hysterical trailer on YouTube (below). At the line, “From the studio that finally learned how to make Pixar videos … The big D is back and adjusted for inflation with 2 princesses, 2 goofy sidekicks, and 3 different orphans” I was hooked! Our family still sings the One You Skip… “We are cutting ‘cause we are cutting ice.” (If you like this one at all, you should definitely check out the other two animated Disney trailers that will crack you up, Lion King and Little Mermaid!)
Before you watch it, there are a few caveats. You have to be careful of spoilers and innuendo. For example, I was very glad my little ones didn’t know the connotation of “going to pork.”
From there, I jumped into the world of Honest Trailers, a few of which had me laughing until I cried! Here are few more movies they did. Although, if you are sensitive to your favorite movies being criticized, stick to the movies you didn’t like as these guys are intentionally pointing out the stuff that is ridiculous. Of course, I’m a fan of most of these movies but still love these!
While accepted as a classic, the re-release of Titanic in 3-D got Honest Trailers thinking…. “Based on the tragedy that spawned thousands of heart breaking true stories came this fake one.”
These movies spanned so many years and are loved by so many, how could we skip them? If by some fluke, you haven’t seen these movies, don’t watch this. It’s packed with spoilers. “From JK Rowling, the author of the book series that kept Boarders open for another few years, comes the movie adaptation for people too lazy to read.” Then further on, they point out, “Where child endangerment is totally no big deal…seriously, how have they not shut this school down yet?!”
Les Miserables AKA Les Miserabablebles
I had to include this one because the comments so perfectly match what so many people said! Non-theatre type men will especially appreciate this one. Or the women who had to listen to them! “Characters often singing about things that could be very easily done by just talking normally…seriously, they sing everything…Follow along in their epic game of cat and mouse that spans twenty years, which is almost as long as the movie feels.”
“Prepare for a film so terrifying, it will convince an entire generation of kids NOT to be astronauts.” Even highly lauded movies can’t escape the honest treatment, although he does tack on “That tracking shot is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. That’s not a joke. I just wanna’ make sure that’s on record.”
Guardians of the Galaxy
This movie is pretty hot right now. Even Screen Junkies admits, “We’re really reaching here. This was a fun movie.” But once they break it down, there a whole lot of ridiculous packed in there. “Why? Because [bleep] you, we’re Marvel. That’s why. Wha’da you gonna’ do? Watch DC?”
You can probably find Honest Trailers for a bunch of the movies you love or hate on YouTube. Just be careful. They’re potentially addictive.
