It’s the last celebrity mom update of 2020. Can you believe everything that’s happened this year? NPR has a great roundup of the biggest global stories from this year, but if you want something lighter, here’s the latest!

Hilaria Baldwin Under Fire

Have you seen the controversy swirling around Hilaria Baldwin? The mother of five and wife of actor, Alec Baldwin, was born in Mallorca, Spain, and usually speaks with a Spanish accent. During a recent Instagram video, though, she sounded like an average American, leading people to wonder if she’s been faking her accent and heritage all this time.

Social media erupted with people sharing details about Hilaria—some old high school classmates, for example, said her name is really “Hillary” and that she grew up in Boston. The 36-year-old confirmed that her name is indeed Hillary, but that her family does call her Hilaria.

“I’ve seen chatter online questioning my identity and culture. This is something I take very seriously, and for those who are asking—I’ll reiterate my story, as I’ve done many times before,” she wrote along with a seven-minute video on Sunday. “I was born in Boston and grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain. My parents and sibling live in Spain and I chose to live here, in the U.S.A.”

“We celebrate both cultures in our home—Alec and I are raising our children bilingual, just as I was raised,” said Hilaria. “This is very important to me. I understand that my story is a little different, but it is mine, and I’m very proud of it… This is just who I am and my life story. It might not fit into your cookie-cutter and might not fit into a label, but it’s my weird mix of who I am.”

Only time will tell whether this explanation will be enough to silence the social media critics.

Lori Loughlin’s Tearful Reunion

After serving nearly two months at a federal correctional facility in Dublin, California, Lori Loughlin is home with her family. Sources say the Fuller House actress had a tearful reunion with daughters Olivia Jade Giannulli, 20, and Isabella Rose Giannulli, 21. “It’s the end of a very long ordeal,” says the source.

The 56-year-old actress’ legal woes stem from her involvement in the nationwide college admissions scandal. Now, according to an insider, Laughlin “seems beyond relieved that she can put her prison sentence behind her. It’s the most stressful thing she has ever dealt with. She plans on spending New Year’s with Olivia and Bella.”

Her husband, designer Mossimo Giannulli, is currently serving his five month jail sentence.

Chrissy Teigen Talks Sobriety

After opening up with her relationship with alcohol to Cosmopolitan back in 2017, Chrissy Teigen worked on herself. “I was, point blank, just drinking too much…I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show. And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It’s not a good look for me, for John, for anybody.”

There is a history of alcohol abuse in her family, but she says that “nobody really brought it up…They just assumed that it was okay because I always felt okay the next morning. I knew in my heart it wasn’t right. It makes you very short with people. People think it’s cutesy and fun to go on these boozy brunches, but there’s more to it. I’ve never once been like, ‘I’m sure glad I had that boozy brunch!’ I used to think it was kind of nutty to have to go totally sober,” she said. “But now I get it. I don’t want to be that person. … I have to fix myself.”

It’s unclear when she started drinking again, but we do know that Teigen and her husband, John Legend, suffered a late-stage miscarriage earlier this year. After welcoming two children through in-vitro fertilization, the couple was ecstatic about the unplanned pregnancy. Teigen has been open about the pain of losing that child.

The cookbook author and former model shared a video from her Christmas vacation on Instagram, and a fan joked, “I need whatever drugs you’re on!!” Without missing a beat, Teigen replied “4 weeks sober,” along with heart and prayer hand emojis. Other followers responded with messages of support. We hope she’s feeling the love!
