So, back-to-school month just whizzed by and already we’ve been thrust straight into pumpkin spice and flannel season—not that we’re complaining! Before you know it, it’s going to be time for holiday meals (and stress). Let’s use this calm before the storm to catch up on celebrity news, shall we? Here’s what’s been going on.
Jessica Simpson’s New Lifestyle
Last week, Jessica Simpson revealed her 100-pound weight loss. After giving birth to her third child, the actress says she weighed 240lbs and was looking to slim down in a way that was realistic and sustainable. Working with her long-time trainer, Harley Pasternak, she made gradual changes that almost any mom could do!
- Simpson’s workouts were all about walking, starting with 6,000 steps a day and working up to 14,000 steps.
- Her diet includes three meals and two snacks a day with a focus on lean proteins and vegetables.
- Cheat days were allowed for a more balanced and sustainable diet.
- She incorporated her family into walks, “unplugged from technology” for at least an hour and strived for seven full hours of sleep.
- Simpson slowly ramped up to full-body workouts every other day.
- She tracked her progress every day and kept track of what she ate.
Most of all, it seems that she’s got a great attitude and is keeping things in perspective. “I don’t think I’ll ever get back to [my skinny jeans]. I save them and say, ‘One day,’ but I think after having kids, I don’t think that your hips really ever go completely back,” she said. “All worth it! Your body changes.”
Angelina Jolie’s Son Goes Off to College
It feels like it was just yesterday when Angelina Jolie adopted her son, Maddox, but he’s all grown up now. The actress recently talked about his first day of college at Yonsei University in South Korea during a press junket for her upcoming film, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Opening up about the experience, Jolie said, “I’m so excited, I feel like my world expands as their world expands. I learn so much from them and I love this stage.” She also admitted, however, that as a mother of six, sending one child off to school may be a little different than it is for other parents: “[And] it’s going to be different for different kids. Maddox was so ready.”
Co-star, Michelle Pfeiffer, whose adult children Claudia, 26, and John, 25, shared her own mixed feelings. “It’s a push and pull, because I do think a part of you feels like you’re losing literally a part of your body, but you know, at the same time, what you really want for your children is for them to be incredibly independent. So you’ve succeeded in doing what you set out to do, so you’re incredibly proud, but it’s hard to make that separation. For me, it was challenging.”
Without a doubt, there are mamas everywhere who can absolutely relate to having these feelings. When they are babies it feels like you’re frozen in time, but in reality, time moves so fast!
