Did Meghan Markle Vote? Also, the Spice Girls Announce Tour, Peta Murgatroyd Limits Screen Time and More!
November 8, 2018
November is a busy month, especially during an election year. With Halloween behind us and the holiday season beginning, have you been keeping an eye out for the latest from Tinseltown? If not, here are some of the hottest celebrity mom stories right now.
Did Meghan Markle Vote?
While Meghan Markle has applied for British citizenship following her marriage to Prince Harry, many have wondered if she still voted in the American midterm elections. After all, the expectant mother has made it clear that she strongly believes in the importance of a woman’s right to vote—but was she still legally eligible to cast a ballot?
It turns out that, yes, the Duchess of Sussex could have voted but when Kensington Palace was asked to elaborate, they stuck with “no comment.” As a rule, senior members of the British royal family attempt to remain neutral and, as such, do not vote, so it’s a complicated situation. Either way, she has encouraged women around the world to let their voices be heard which, in many ways, is just as powerful and impactful.
Spice Girls Are Going on Tour!
Red Alert! The Spice Girls are reuniting for a summer stadium tour so, if you want to spice up your life in 2019, all you have to do is say you’ll be there! (See what I did?) To quote Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), “this is so exciting!”
The last time the group performed together was during the 2012 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony in London. While Bunton, Mel B (Scary Spice), Mel C (Sport Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) are on board, Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) has decided to sit this one out. Either way, fans will be flocking to shows across the U.K. Viva forever!
Peta Murgatroyd Limits Son’s iPad Use
Dancing with the Stars pros, Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovkiy, welcomed son, Shai Aleksander, in January 2017 and, according to his mom, the little guy has developed clear interests over the last 21 months—”Daffy Duck… his green froggy and he’s obsessed with the iPad.”
Many parents can probably relate to this since toddlers everywhere seem to be drawn to the tablet. Still, Murgatroyd limits her son’s use to one hour a day and explains, “this technology thing is kind of crazy, actually, because they get hooked on it very early.” It sounds like she’s found a compromise that works!
