Not every family is into celebrating Halloween, but the ones that do may struggle to find attractions that are kid-friendly. If your child gets spooked by the haunted houses and fright zones, but still likes the idea of dressing up, here are some suggestions that are a little less trick and a lot more treat.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween

The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida hosts Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween. The event welcomes children to get dressed up and trick-or-treat their way through the park. They’ll encounter iconic characters, watch a themed parade, get spellbound by fireworks and attend the Scream-O-Ween dance party.

Mickey’s Halloween Party

If you’re on the west coast, you can check out Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland Resort. Celebrations on both sides of the country? That mouse sure is busy! Kids are welcomed to trick-or-treat, attend the parade, watch the fireworks or shake hands with some famous Disney villains at Villains Square.

Both the LEGOLAND Florida Resort and LEGOLAND California Resort host Brick-or-Treat party nights throughout the month of October. Guests are invited to dress up in costumes and trick-or-treat through the parks before settling in for a ghostly show and fireworks display.

Cedar Point’s Great Pumpkin Fest

Every Saturday and Sunday during the Halloween season, kids can find their way to Cedar Point’s Great Pumpkin Fest. While the park, located in Sandusky, Ohio, is known for its thrill rides and grown-up haunted houses, younger guests can enjoy a hay bale maze, crafting corner, the Great Pumpkin Parade and, of course, fun times with the Peanuts gang!

The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular

If we’re talking about kid-friendly Halloween events at amusement parks, we can’t leave out The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular at Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pennsylvania! Children can take pictures with their favorite Sesame Street characters, embark on adventures or attend the Neighborhood Street Party Halloween Parade in the afternoon (or the illuminated version at night!). Be sure to check for days when the buffet-style fall feast is being served too!

Great Wolf Lodge Howl-O-Ween

Families love the Great Wolf Lodge any time of the year but it can be extra special during Howl-O-Ween. Found at all 14 locations, kids can take a break from the indoor water park and check out costume parades, Story Times, Trick-or-Treat Trails and Monster Bash Dance Parties. Good thing you’ll be staying on the premises because everyone will be happily exhausted!

Check Local Events

While most independently-operated haunted houses are geared towards adults, check local amusement parks and your city’s social media pages for family-friendly activities. Be sure to see what farms are offering in your area. Many convert their land into corn mazes, pumpkin patches and offer hayrides!
