It’s time for the season premieres of your favorite (and new) primetime TV shows. From shows you already know and love (Two and a Half Men), to new ones that have everyone talking (Ringer) it looks like there’s a great lineup of fall TV to keep us all glued to our television sets.

This year, there are many popular stars returning to TV. It’s always fun to see someone who’s played a well-loved character return to the small screen after many years. For the Fall 2011 TV lineup, we’ll see some names we know well – Ashton Kutcher, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rachel Bilson and Christina Applegate – just to name a few.

Here’s a list of 3 popular TV stars returning to Primetime TV and a little about their new shows and characters.

Sarah Michelle Gellar

We know her best as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and haven’t seen her as a lead character since then. She did 145 episodes as Buffy Summers/Faith and fans have been waiting for her to make her TV comeback.

Her new role is as Bridget Cafferty in the CW’s Ringer. The pilot has already aired, with the next episode coming September 20th entitled “She’s Ruining Everything”.

Her character Bridget, is six months sober and starting to get her life back on track, when she becomes the sole witness to a professional hit. She flees to New York, telling no one, and reunites with her estranged twin, Siobhan.

Ashton Kutcher

Everyone’s talking about Ashton Kutcher and his role in Two and a Half Men. After the Charlie Sheen debacle, the show’s producers decided to keep the show on air, but needed a new star. Ashton Kutcher was the man for the job.

As far as TV goes, Ashton is known for playing the not too bright Michael Kelso in That 70’s Show. Since then, he’s been more well known for MTV’s Punk’d and his big screen movies.

In CBS’s Two and a Half Men he plays Walden Schmidt. Ashton’s character, as well as how Charlie Sheen’s character exits the show, have all been kept very hush-hush. “Nice to Meet You, Walden Schmidt” premieres on CBS Monday, September 19th.

Christina Applegate

Christina Applegate starred as Kelly Bundy in the late 80’s and early 90’s on Married with Children. She hasn’t had a hit TV show since, but has starred in Jesse and Samantha Who?. She’s been seen in many movies, with her latest one being “Hall Pass”.

Her new show Up All Night is a look at parenthood from the perspective of a working mother, stay at home husband (Will Arnett) and opinionated parents. The premiere, which aired on September 14th, scored well for NBC. You can catch the next episode, “Cool Neighbors”, Wednesday, September 21st.

Other stars returning to Primetime TV include Rachel Bilson in Heart of Dixie, Ted Danson in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Tim Allen in Last Man Standing and Kelsey Grammar in Boss.
