Whether you’re riding out a pandemic or simply want to stay in, there are ways to have a great Valentine’s Day at home. While you could snuggle up for a cozy movie night together, we’ve come up with some other easy, romantic ideas you can try!

Cook Together

You may not be heading out to a fancy restaurant this year, but you can still enjoy a great meal together! Pick a home recipe that you already both enjoy or get adventurous as you try to recreate your favorite restaurant dish at home (copycat recipes are all over the internet!).

To make it even more romantic, set up a fondue night. If you don’t already have a pot, they are easy to find and worth the effort. Start with melted cheese and veggies and finish with chocolate-dipped strawberries, pound cake, or even pretzels. Get creative!

Have a Spa Day

Nothing quite beats a day of being pampered, but you may not be able to head to a spa right now. Don’t worry, though—it’s pretty easy to recreate the experience at home! All you need are a few supplies and a desire to make each other feel special.

Set the mood by playing some soothing music and lighting tealight or aromatherapy candles. Sink into a hot bubble bath, and with your muscles nice and relaxed, take turns giving each other massages. Not skilled with your hands? There are plenty of YouTube tutorials to help you get started.

Scavenger Hunt

Think you know every nook and cranny in your home? Do a romantic scavenger hunt and put those skills to the test! This Valentine’s Day idea will take some effort, but the fun and excitement will be worth it in the end.

Come up with a series of clues for your partner to follow. Try to come up with riddles or even use photos to guide them to the next one. Stumped? Search Pinterest for ideas! At the end, you can have a special gift, heartfelt letter, or even a romantic setting waiting as their prize!

Travel the World—Virtually!

We know it’s not the same as hopping on a plane or taking a road trip, but you can still travel the world together virtually! Plan a day in your favorite destination and make it a fully immersive experience with themed music, scents food, and activities.

Then, at the end of the day, cuddle up and watch a movie or travel series about your favorite place. Want to take it to the next level? Gather mementos and pictures from your adventures at your destination and make a slideshow or scrapbook you can enjoy together.

Create a Bedroom Oasis

It can be hard to feel romantic in a full house. Whether you’ve got family staying with you or kids running around, you might want to spend at least some of your Valentine’s Day tucked away. Unfortunately, if your bedroom is messy and cluttered, it might not feel like much of an escape.

Take on the challenge of turning your bedroom into an oasis. You could even do this as a surprise for your partner! Put away the laundry, clear the clutter, freshen up the sheets, and hang some white lights to transform the space into a romantic sanctuary. You won’t want to leave!

While heading out on a weekend getaway or even a night out for dinner might be your idea of a perfect Valentine’s Day, you can still find ways to capture the magic at home. With a little creativity and a positive attitude, you can set the mood and let your love shine through.
