Halloween can be a fun and spooky holiday but, with some minor tweaking, you can also make it incredibly romantic. It’s the one day of the year when you are encouraged to abandon your inhibitions and simply enjoy yourself. Why not make it a great (and unique) date night?

Hold Each Other Tight on a Ghost Tour

Whether you check out a haunted house, go on a midnight hayride or embark on a ghost tour, you will likely reach for your loved one at some point for some comfort and that’s a great opportunity to enjoy some physical contact. Plus, if the weather is seasonably chilly, you will need to huddle together to keep warm!

Plan a Scavenger Hunt

Television shows such as The Amazing Race speak to the popularity of a scavenger hunt so why not plan one for this Halloween? There are great templates for creating a festive checklist that will have treasure hunters doing silly things such as spelling “Trick or Treat” in candy corn (and then stuffing all of those candies into their mouth!) or breaking out into Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance on the street. This could also be fun for competing against other couples. At the end of the night, you could all converge at your home for treats and prizes. Pro tip: take the scavenger hunt to a corn maze.

Dine with Glowing Pumpkins

Candlelight dinners are often associated with romance so why not put a Halloween twist on this tradition by dining in the glow of some Jack-O-Lanterns. You could even spend some time together carving and adorning them with loving messages while your dinner cooks (or is delivered!). Roast the pumpkin seeds for couch time later. If your evening calls for something a little more sophisticated than Jack-O-Lanterns, you could check out tutorials for carving out the center of mini pumpkins to create custom candle holders.

Wear Coordinated Couple Costumes

If you are planning to attend a Halloween party (or you are taking your kids trick-or-treating), consider wearing costumes in tribute of some of your favorite famous couples. Fred and Wilma Flintstone, Jane and Tarzan or Morticia and Gomez Addams are just a few examples. Don’t forget, Cinderella rode in a carriage made from a pumpkin when she met her Prince Charming.

Enjoy a Scary Movie and Pumpkin Lattes

One of the best things about Halloween is being scared from the comfort of your own couch. Snuggle up with your significant other under a cozy blanket, enjoy some snacks and sip on some pumpkin lattes (maybe even make a batch in your slow cooker).

Take the time to really appreciate each other, no matter what you decide to do. Feeling loved and respected is one of the most romantic things of all!
