A wet and dry grinder is an electric appliance that is used to grind various food items. The most common food items that are ground with a wet and dry grinder are spices, coffee beans, and meat. Wet and dry grinders usually come with two grinding stones: a wet stone and a dry stone.
The wet stone is used to grind moist food items, while the dry stone is used to grind dry food items.
The DEWALT 8-inch Bench Grinder can be used for a variety of projects, including deburring, rust removal, shaping, polishing, grading and sharpening of your cutting tools. Its powerful motor can easily handle hard metals and abusive applications.
It features a rugged, cast iron base and motor housing for long-lasting use.
I had purchased the Wen 6” bench grinder, found that the motor was too weak as returned it. I spent a little more and bought this DeWalt. Wow. What an improvement! Having just had two units to compare days apart I can assure you that is a _much_ better value and much higher quality machine.
As you can see from my pictures, it isn’t perfect. At the top of the wheel housing you attach the spark shield. On the left side I have a polishing wheel attached and have on the outer housing cover.
When this is attached the bracket for the spark shield can’t sit flush against the housing. In the other photo I have a DeWalt wire wheel mounted. Even though the 1/2” wheel technically fits, it was rubbing on the outer housing cover.
I didn’t want to scrape off the paint and have a problem with rust down the road so I left the outer cover off. With the cover off you can see that the spark shield’s bracket mounts flush. But these are minor quibbles.
The tool rests, stamping thickness, on/off switch quality are far better than the Wen. And the motor power is night and day (that is actually an _understatement_. ) Highly recommended!!!.
Quality built grinder and comes with two different grit stones. I was happy to find this at a Tractor Supply store. The on/off switch seems robust and it was easy to put together. After using for a few weeks I am satisfied with it’s performance with one caveat.
No light. A work light would really be a plus for a grinder as you are always looking at what you’re grinding to see how effective it is.
This item was manufactured by a company with a stellar reputation for their highest quality and value of the tools they sell. However, this product is not what I would consider to be one of their better efforts! It does seem to be very durable, but the quality control is not what I have come to expect from DeWalt! My old bench grinder came up to full speed within 1.
5 seconds, and this one takes about 3 times longer. It also vibrates and shakes badly for the price I paid. If I had this to do over again, I would not purchase a DeWalt bench grinder!.
The DEWALT 6-inch (150 mm) Bench Grinder is ideal for sharpening blades, bits, chisels and other cutting tools. This versatile tool can also be used with a wire wheel to quickly and efficiently remove rust or scale from various metals or can be used as a polishing wheel for buffing and polishing virtually any metal material.
Featuring a powerful 5/8 HP induction motor for heavy-duty grinding operations, this durable tool is suitable for tackling both professional and DIY projects with ease.
I purchased this grinder to replace a grinder that is 40 years old and finally died. This grinder vibrates so bad you cannot keep the eye shields from vibrating down into the grinding wheel. The stones run true with no wobble or out of round.
I removed the course stone on the right side and the grinder is smooth with just the left stone on the grinder. I assume the problem is with the balance of the stone. I will have to contact the retailer for warranty.
I have every 20 volt DeWalt tool known to man with no problems.
Ok, the Dewalt Fan Boys won’t like this review. Everything that I’ve owned made be Dewalt is 2nd rate compared to Hitachi, Bosch, Makita, & Milwaukee. This bench grinder is no different. My title should have been “Wobble Wobble”.
Or, “Engineered Frustration”. Or, “Can the Cord be any Cheaper?”. The Good: this unit has enough horsepower for most DIY applications. The Bad: typical Dewalt lack of refinement. My unit wobbles to the point that the unit walks while on the table.
Yes, it should be bolted down. But the vibration from the wobble is annoying (yes, I tried rotating the wheels for a better alignment). The end caps are a safety feature. However, the stripped screws coupled by the tedious task of end-cap removal to switch out accessory wheels is a royal PIA.
And Dewalt’s engineering staff must be proud of that POS cord that is supplied with the unit. It’s like a ball of stiff plastic yarn. I simply don’t like this unit even though I plan to keep it.
If you spend a lot of time in your garage or shed putting in work on woodworking or metal work projects, you’ve probably been in need of a grinder. Opt for a grinder like the Jet 578008 8-Inch Stationary Industrial Bench Grinder for superior performance.
Perfectly equipped to be mounted for stands or work benches, this 8-inch bench grinder will enable you to make precise and flawless grinds. From wood to metal and anything in between, you can trust the fine and coarse vitrified grinding wheel will help you get the job done.
Along with the power, this grinder takes safety seriously as evidenced by the toggle switch and safety key. Turn to a grinder like this one form Jet, that can help you get the job done right the first time.
A honest 11 amp at 115 volt or 5. 5 amp at 230 volt 1 HP motor (super strong). Cast iron wheel hubs (truer running wheels). Cast iron wheel guards and tool rests. Single hookup to dust collection at center rear of grinder.
I was debating between this grinder or Jet’s 577102, I’m glad I chose this one (578008), it’s well worth the little extra cost. The 577102 only has an 8 amp motor 115 volt only , (that equates to a little less than a honest 3/4 HP regardless of claimed HP).
The 577102 also has stamped steel wheel washers. Any faults or weaknesses? If I had to nit-pick I would would point to the OSHA approved switch, it feels like a weak link in a otherwise bullet-proof grinder, it feels flimsy softer plastic.
That said if any problems develop it would be easy enough to change. On a side note one of the capacitors in the base was out of it’s retaining strap and loose, slid it back in with a piece of plastic to take up the slack for a firm grip.
I used Baldor 10″ and 12″ 3 phase grinders/buffers in a railroad air brake shop for years, this grinder by JET blurs the lines in quality and power.
This grinder arrived in perfect condition. At start-up it ran surprisingly smoothly, with minimal run-out, considering the wheels had not yet been balanced. The only drawback are the tool rests. They are sturdy cast iron, but, need to be machined flat as they are rough cast.
Also, the tool rest can only be adjusted in and out with no ability for angle or height adjustment. Overall an excellent grinder with tool rests that need replacement.
I researched a lot of grinders and settled on this one because it has both a start capacitor and a run capacitor. The start capacitor makes the motor start strong and get to full speed very quickly. At a certain RPM an internal centrifugal swich kicks in and switches the motor over to the run capacitor.
in my opinion this will make the motor last much longer as it puts less strain on it. This is a quite and smooth running grinder that has the power needed for most shops. It cost more than the “box store” grinders but it’s truly industrial quality and cant be compared to the cheaper ones.
The M18 FUEL 7″ / 9″ Large Angle Grinder is the world’s first 18v LAG. It generates 15A corded power is up to 2 lbs lighter, and has 9″ grinding capacity. Providing high performance, advanced ergonomics & legendary durability, this grinder is designed to complete the toughest grinding, surface preparation, and cutting applications with any 7″ – 9″ accessory.
The POWERSTATE Brushless Motor provides 6,600 RPM and higher speeds under load for corded grinding/cutting performance. REDLINK PLUS intelligence ensures maximum performance and protection from overload, overheating and over discharge.
I can’t use the tool because it does not have the backing flange for a cut off wheel. I have found it in the service parts but I cannot find it on Milwaukee’s site and the only place I can find it is on ebay and a few no name places.
The DEWALT DWE4012 7 Amp 12,000 RPM Paddle Switch Small Angle Grinder features a 7. 5 Amp AC/DC, 12,000 rpm motor designed for faster material removal and higher overload protection. The One-Touch Guard allows for a single action to adjust the guard; no buttons or levers, just turn the guard to position it.
A hex wrench replaces spanner wrench, which makes it more user friendly as a hex wrench is found in most tool boxes if lost. Its low profile, jam-pot gear case increases durability and allows tool to fit into tight spaces, and the Quick-Change Wheel Release allows tool free wheel removal without need for a wrench.
This grinder has a 2-position removable side handle provides increased comfort and control. It also offers a slim, ergonomic body design that provides increased comfort in extended use applications. The 5/8″-11 spindle thread accepts a wide range of 4-1/2″ accessories.
Includes: 2-position side handle, Depressed center wheel, One-Touch Guard, Hex Wrench.
Wow, I can’t believe how something so simple can become such a problem. It turns out the ALLEN WRENCH FITS IN 2 OF THE 4 HOLES IN THE SPANNER NUT, that’s it. Why didn’t anyone else mention this? Especially Dewalt, why didn’t they mention it in their manual? Sure, there was a couple of hints in the reviews and questions, but they were all too vague.
I finally took a really close look at the flange nut and discovered it. Now that I’ve said that, it really doesn’t matter much to me anyway. I always hand-tighten grinding wheels and brushes since the right-hand rotation tightens them anyway.
Removal is usually done by holding the spindle lock and unscrewing them, with a glove for sharp edges or wire wheels. On occasion they are too tight for this, so that’s when I use a wrench. As far as this grinder, it’s great! Powerful, small, and has a paddle switch.
The switch is important to me because those on/off sliders are too difficult to manipulate while wearing gloves, and they’re actually dangerous. I would hate to get a wire wheel tangled up in my clothes and fight frantically to shut it off.
The safety lock works okay so far, and serves a purpose. My Black and Decker Firestorm grinder has a large paddle switch with no safety, and it sometimes takes off just from setting it down. The switch is too easy to bump at the worse times.
*Disclaimer* I paid retail, and don’t sell my opinions for trinkets and freebies.
As I embarked on what will be a long term remodeling of our house, I knew that I would definitely be needing a grinder for a variety of uses. Nothing large, but I also thought I could probably use two grinders to have one setup for cutting, and the other with a grinding wheel or wire cup.
I had looked at the various models DeWalt offered and was thinking of purchasing one corded and one cordless grinder. However, while at Lowes picking up some materials, I decided to look at the grinders and I purchased the DeWalt 4-1/2 inch 7.
5 amps Paddle Switch Corded Angle Grinder DWE4012-2 two-pack set on sale at a reasonable price. These DWE4012 grinders are well made and the 7. 5-amp motor has been powerful enough to work well for several projects that have involved both cutting and grinding.
Each has a removable side handle that can be attached to either the right or left side, as well as a guard that can be spun to position it as needed. The paddle switch makes it easy to control the power.
The threaded clamp nut can be removed and tightened with either a spanner wrench or an allen wrench, the latter which is included with each grinder. It is easy to change accessories when needed. The DWE4012 grinders have been dependable and I do recommend them.
The D28499X 7-in and 9-in 6,000-rpm 5. 3 HP Angle Grinder has a 5-position handle and rotating rear handle for improved ergonomics in cutting, grinding, and other applications. Epoxy coating protects tool from abrasion caused by airborne debris.
Great for use in tight spaces and lightweight to increase productivity.
I was kind of disappointed with my experience using this grinder. I have never had problems with Dewalt products before, and I have a very trusty 4 1/2 inch angle grinder I have tested the limits on with no problems, but on this particular 7 inch grinder, the gear stripped out the second time I used it.
I took it apart to examine, and I think it is due to the arbor housing being made of a thin aluminum ring, instead of thick steel, causing the arbor to move out of place and therefore, the gears also, causing them to strip.
There’s just not enough meat on that part of the grinder to handle the torque of a 7 inch wheel. I think if Dewalt would beef it up there, it would be a great grinder. Come on, Dewalt, I know you can do better! Thanks, Jonathan.
The diameter of handle is rather thick, feels like holding the wider end of a baseball bat. But it is still maneuverable. If this is too large for ya, ya need the longer model with trigger switch that has a slender handle.
I have a 7 amp model by Hercules. I can just feel the difference in the power: 7 amp vs. 11 amp. It grinds significantly faster with the same grinding wheel. I am thinking, maybe I should have started with 11 amp model, but I do not have to change the wheels so often, if I have two grinders.
DeWalt is more expensive, but I feel it is worth it, performance-wise and psych-wise. I am 100% satisfied. Addendum: One thing I noticed from the uploads on YouTube: the guys take apart the grinder to show the innards of a brand-new grinder.
The brand-new grinder had no grease on the helical gear, although the grease is packed in the housing cavity. I checked mine (I have three, two corded and one cordless), and not one had grease on the drive gear and the helical gear.
I took a tiny dollop of grease from the housing, and smeared it over the teeth, and reassembled. They all ran quieter, noticeably. It is an easy guess that the gears will wear faster, until the heat buildup moves the extra grease onto the gears.
I received & used the grinder to remove wood. Attempting to change the disc, I could not locate an Allen wrench port. Those to remove the wheel/disc are round. “Square peg in round hole” just doesn’t work.
I hesitate to really crank on the wheel with unnecessary leverage for concern of damaging the unit. Q: How does the Allen wrench work with this grinder? Or, what type of wrench will work? (Manual did not included anything on how to change a disk &/or use the Allen wrench).

I have now bought three of these spice grinders. One for me, one each for my sons in law. We all use then on a regular basis – at least twice a week. It grinds wet or dry products so you can blend for curries or salad dressings.
And it’s quick and easy to use. Quickly assembled and easy to clean, the only drawback is that it is a bit noisy. However, it gets the job done so quickly that it’s not too much of a problem.
It grinds ginger, chilli, garlic brilliantly. It also grinds dry spices like cloves and cinnamon to a powder. I had the older version of the same model, which wasn’t sturdy and well made like this one.
This is a must buy for those who like cooking Indian food. I would be lost without it!.
I have used the plastic version for years. It was good but this new version has the edge. It’s more sturdy & compact design makes it easier to use. The addition of the metal parts makes it smoother to use by reducing the amount of friction.
I’m glad that I chose this model & happy to pay the few pounds extra.
If you want a Multipurpose Grinder then this is the one for you. The Chrome Wet & Dry Grinder is a versatile product as it allows you to grind wet herbs, spices, fruits and vegetables and within the same bowl and by using the same blade it can grind dry coffee beans, nuts and peppercorns.

This product is finished in chrome so can be stylish in any household kitchen. The complete bowl and cup is also dishwasher safe.
One of the best wet n dry grinders on the market. Efficient and durable. Been using over 10 years! Had to buy another as previous one burnt out but for the time we used it – EXCELLENT. Would recommend highly.
Elgi Ultra Elgi Ultra 2 Litre Stone Wet Grinder. 2 litres capacity. Sturdy construction and durable design. Engineered drum for optimal performance. Easy lock system. Conical Stone for efficient grinding.
Made of food grade plastic, AISI 304 Stainless Steel drum and rust proof materials. Noiseless and vibration free operation. Optional attachment of Coconut Scrapper. Grinding capacity: 2 Litres of soaked Idly Rice.
I use this to make chocolate from cacao beans. mmmm. Works great but gets the liquor a little warmer than I like. I don’t fault the machine since it needs to run at least 12 hours straight. glad to have this almost brand new unit for the price I paid.
We are a very small family of 2 people. We needed a very small wet grinder which can grind one-third cup soaked urad dal and one and one-third cup of idli rice. This Ultra Dura+ wet grinder meets all our needs.
It has a high power-to-weight ratio for greater efficiency and reduced user fatigue. The adjustable guard can be adjusted to redirect sparks away from user. Rear handle design for greater comfort and control, and external brush caps for easy servicing.
The sealed ball and roller bearings allow for extended motor life. A spindle lock button allows for single-wrench bit changes. Includes 5 grinding wheels, wrench, backing flange, adjustable guard, 2-position side handle and carry bag.
I purchased the “angle grinder only” option, ASIN B00RVZ7DNO. I would have given this a 5 star review if not for the lack of provided information regarding exactly which guard is included. After receiving the unit, I found that the included guard was way too deep to be used with a standard 7/8 arbor flap disc or grinding disc.
It’s so thick that you have to hold it at a 45 degree angle, otherwise the corners of the guard will touch and scratch the work surface. Another reviewer has stated the same thing and even went through the effort of cutting his guard down on a band saw.
The good news is that I learned that Dewalt makes several different guards that fit this unit, and one of them is the appropriate thickness for these type of discs. For some reason, Dewalt makes it confusing and difficult to find any detailed information about the guards, so I wanted to share what I learned so that it may help future purchasers.
SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOS The included 4. 5″ guard is actually the N309159, which is called the “4. 5in / JUMBO FLAP” guard. I subsequently purchased the N306360 4. 5″ guard, which is perfect for using with standard non-hubbed flap-discs or grinding discs.
Further, the correct 4. 5″ Type 1 cutting guard for this grinder is N311419.
I have to admit, as there was NO amp rating on this when I bought it, I was skeptical of this grinder and fully prepared to return it turned out to be one of the very weak CLAIMED 1/2hp Made-In-China ones of only about 2 amps that are showing up in many places.
Happily, THAT was not necessary. I am amazed at how long the motor takes to stop turning (3 minutes!) I’d give it 4. 5 stars if that was possible. PROS: this 6″ grinder has VERY GOOD overall quality, especially for its price range enough USABLE power to handle any reasonable loading-for its rated hp both grinding wheels are decent quality-they don’t quickly degrade from light use both grinding wheels are well-balanced and run true when mounted/tightened properly bearings and motor must also be decent-machine takes a VERY long time to spin down fit and finish are good it has heft-its not a featherweight 2 ADJUSTABLE clear spark shields 2 under wheel spark guards 2 adjustable position gooseneck lights drill bit sharpening groove in one tool rest good length cord its runs more quietly than most in its price range it has a good length warranty CONS: tool rests are of thin gauge metal clear spark shields are not heat OR impact resistant light bulbs are incandescent.
I picked this up for sharpening lawnmower blades. Works great for that! Easy job with the grinder. I would have gave it a 5 star, but the right left bulb was extremely loose. I tried getting it to tighten, but during operation bulb fell out and broke.
Changing wheels in your Cut Off Tool shouldn’t be a process that kills your momentum and eats precious work time. Luckily, a Quick-Change Tool-Free wheel is just one of the great features on DeWalt’s 10V MAX Lithium Ion 4-1/2″ Cut Off Tool.
The DCG412B is capable of speeds up to 6,500 RPM, making short work of tough grinding and cutting jobs. Cutting at speeds this fast are bound to stir up all kinds of debris. Redirect them away from your general direction with the help of the adjustable guard, which can be modified without any additional tools.
The two-position side handle supplies additional control and comfort, essential for difficult cutting and grinding applications. This item is the bare tool, batteries and charger are not included. Like all of their tools, this cut-off tool from DeWalt is Guaranteed Tough.
To reduce the risk of injury, must read instruction manual before operating product.
Reviews From Real Customers
The type 1/41 cutting wheel guard can be bought on Amazon under the Black & Decker brand. $24. For the “One-touch” guard system. Hope this helps. DeWalt should get their act together better when organizing accessories for their products.
They have this problem with other products and models, they seem to indicate accessories can’t be available but they really are available under a different name or part number. Besides that, this product is awesome.
I have had Dewalt electric grinders, palm sanders as well as drills for over thirty years and never had any problems with them. I started using their battery drills and even the battery powered chainsaw for pruning and camping.
They are all great products and now I have also just bought a new angle grinder. It is very powerful at 18 volt as are the others. I use them on my old wooden boat when needed as I have no power there.
Also out on the farm and anywhere needed when we are away. Just the best battery gear. Top equipment from dewalt!.
Bought this to use type 1 this cutting wheels for work, but it only comes with a type 27 (open-side) guard. Called DeWalt to get a type 1 guard. They gave me part #643772-00. Got this guard but it cannot be used on this tool because the guard uses a clamp-on fastener and the tool has a ratcheting release lever fastener.
Called DeWalt again to see how to install this type 1 guard and was told to read the user’s manual. Called a factory service center. The guy there researched the part and the tool and said there is no type 1 guard made for this tool.
I returned the tool and now I am looking for a tool that will do what I need to do.
Perfect+ wet grinder makes everyday grinding simpler. It has a capacity of 2 litres and an ABS Body, which means it is light in weight, has a long life and undoubtedly great looks. It is equipped with Patented Conical Stones that grind effectively while keeping the batter temperature low and a Batter Cleaner which makes it easy to clean the stones.
It comes with a multi Utility Drum for grinding. It is made from 304 Food Grade Stainless Steel for rust-free and healthy food. It has a powerful Motor and a Timer for you to keep track of grinding time.
The product is working good but this has been listed as NEW one but when i open the box its covered by packing plastic wrapper. After removing wrapper it seems this product has been used previously one or two times that i don’t know.
The Makita 7 inch. Angle Grinder is built around a powerful 15 Ampere motor that delivers up to 6 600 rpm for fast stock removal. It features labyrinthine construction that helps seal internal components from outside contaminants to help increase tool life.
The easy-to-use large trigger switch locks on for extended operation and a large shaft lock permits easy wheel changes. The switch handle rotates 90 degrees left and right while the side handle may be configured in any of 3 positions to promote user comfort and control.
Overall this is a very powerful professional quality angle grinder. I bought it to replace my heavily used Craftsman angle grinder I bought back in 1981. The trigger switch on the Craftsman went out for the third time in the life of the 35+ year old tool and I could no longer get the part to replace it.
It’s a real shame because I thought that thing was going to last forever. Anyway, the Makita seems like a very nice tool, the only issue I have with it is the weight. It is considerably heavier than other large angle grinders I have used including the Craftsman grinder.
At my age, you can guess because I was 18 when I bought the Craftsman. It is going to be a chore to hold it up for any great length of time. That is fine for grinding welds, but extended use on wood siding is not going to be easy.
That is not the fault of the tool, but I do wish it were a pound or two lighter. If it lasts half as long as my other grinder, it will outlive my working days.
Never any doubt that the Makita grinder would be first rate. Since it is a less sophisticated version there is a higher likely hood of increased lifespan. The 7 in. model is quite capable of supporting alternative 9 in accessories as needed because they share so much between models.
I initially was looking to get into the -much- lighter weight Hitachi, but after a bit more contemplation it seemed that wouldn’t be the smartest move when choosing this type of tool. If someone else were buying the tool, and providing replacements the Hitachi/(updated manufacturer) would have been OK, but since I’m not using it on a full-time basis (and providing my own tools) the Makita GA series was a smarter choice all together.
I’ve had this item for a couple of months now. This is a well balanced heavy duty grinder you can lean into to get the job done quickly. Start up torque doesn’t try to rip the machine from your hands (no its not a soft start) like a lot of grinders this size.
I use it with cutoff wheels, grinding wheels and resin disc. Does a fantastic job with any attachment I’ve put on it. I like that the guard is easy to reposition with a wide swing range.
Our Grinder Paddle Switch, No Lock is the next advancement in power and performance, generating 11A corded power, fastest cutting. and delivering up to 135 cuts per charge. Milwaukee’s FUEL grinder with paddle switch is a great upgrade from my non-brushless grinder that I have used for more than 5 years. This grinder generates 11 amps of corded power and makes up to 135 cuts per charge, of course depending on what size battery you use.
The brushless motor 8500 RPM and makes quick work of cutting and material removing applications. This grinder includes an electronic clutch to help protect against kick back and overload protection to help ensure longevity of the motor.
Included is a wrench to replace the blades and a clip on guard to protect against sparks flying. Compared to my non-brushless Milwaukee grinder, this one is slightly bigger and heavier. My old grinder has not failed me for more than 5 years so I never saw a need to buy the upgraded FUEL version, but now that I did, I retired my old grinder.
I do like the increase in size which has given me greater control of the tool while working and I feel like it is more well balanced then the older version. A couple of changes Milwaukee made to the grinder that I am not a big fan of is the clip on guard, I just don’t like the design, and the handle on the new version can only be screwed into the left or right of the grinder.
The previous version also had a slot to screw the handle into the top of the grinder. I rarely used the handle on the top of the grinder but still using it on the top once is enough for me to want to have that option.
In terms of performance obviously this beats the non-brushless version and this tool performs every application I have used it for. Great tool!!.
I got about 15 minutes of almost continuous use, grinding a lawnmower blade to sharpen it and it took 1 bar off a 5ah battery. Overall really nice. I like the way it feels, really like the guard adjustment.
The trigger is a little unnatural for me, but I don’t usually use paddle switches on power tools. Overall does its job well and I’ve got no complaints. Got this on a good sale, but would totally have financed this full price eventually.
Would be great if they made an integrated sleeve for the little bi-pin spanner it comes with. I keep losing it. Other than that, it’s exactly what I expected: good build quality, good power usage, good performance.
I’ve used various brands of corded and non corded grinders and Makita was my favorite for a while. I really don’t like top switches because I’d rather not twist my wrist around with a running grinder in my hand.
I also have big hands so wherever I grab my Milwaukee with the paddle switch I feel confident and comfortable with my grip. I do have a small army of batteries (at least 8 most over 3 hours) but I don’t feel like I’m constantly swapping batteries just to cut some tile.
This grinder also feels like a corded option because of the amount of torque it puts out. The paddle switch is easy to operate and the wheel doesn’t take more than a second or two to come to a stop so I don’t feel the need for the “Rapid Stop”.
Overall this is a reliable tool that hasn’t given me any issues whether I’m cutting metal, wood, PVC, mesh, concrete, or granite (provided you use the correct kind of cutting disc or grinding pad).
A coated spindle housing make this heavy duty, Milwaukee straight grinder comfortable to hold on to while delivering a full 11 amp of power and 14,500 RPM. Equipped with a hinged face plate with wing nut fasteners for easy wheel changes, this tool can accept up to 3 in.
resinoid bond wheels. Wire brushes can also be attached for cleaning rust from work surfaces. An impact absorbing tool rest is provided so that the tool can be set down safely as the wheel coasts to a stop.
The spindle is 3/8 in. for use with industry standard accessories for the rated diameter capacity. Shown with optional grinding wheel.
My dad had bought one of these 26 years ago and it was never used until 6 years ago and just from setting around on a shelf the cord had begin to disinterested all by its self and that of course seem to to me normal for many tools today USA Company’s having there products made made in China so the cord is &^%$.
But the tool is out of sight as fare as the quality. The one my dad had you can remove the brushes and replace them not sure about these newer ones.

FLEXVOLT 60V MAX* Brushless 4-1/2 in. – 6 in. Cordless Grinder with Kickback Brake Kit
Reviews From Real Customers
I decided to get Dewalt 60v Circular saw , Grinder and Sawzall the tools are amazing tons of power decent battery life. I got all three. each came with a 9 AH flex battery for 349 insane deal for the best tools.
The Circular saw had a quick charger with it. I can charge a battery as fast or little faster then grinder will kill one being used on full power. The grinder kills the battery’s in about 1. 5 hours.
not often will you run a Sawzall or Circular saw for an hour and a half with out turning it off so have not killed a battery in one or the other as of yet. I think 2 batteries and a quick charger for one person would be enough.
With water and dry grinding wheel, robust and reliable. – The Fervi combined bench grinder is a very simple machine to use. – The dry wheel is used for grinding, grinding and / or deburring solid and solid materials (in particular metals and metal alloys) by means of abrasion.
– The water wheel is used for sharpening blades. – Before starting sharpening, check for the presence of cooling water in the tray (the grinding wheel must be immersed for at least 1 cm). Protective screen for the dry grinding wheel.
– This machine is easy to use. – The operation buttons, start and stop, are easily recognizable and positioned outside the machining areas. – This grinder is lightweight and easy to carry by hand. – Bolts are provided for fixing to the support surface: in this way small movements due to machine vibrations are avoided.
– The machine is also equipped with suction holes positioned in the rear part of the guards to protect the tools.
Powerfull machine and made to last. Like old school quality. I bet these will sell like hot cakes! Great price & a perfect machine for wire wheel or polishing with it’s long arms. All I’d say is get one while you can! You will need a 2 pin to UK 3 pin adaptor plug.
1 off ebay. Don’t waste your money on cheeper smaller wattage machines like i did. Buy the Daddy first.
The milwaukee m18 fuel 4-1/2″ / 5″ variable speed braking angle grinder, paddle switch no-lock is the newest addition to milwaukee’s battery-powered grinder lineup, generating 11a corded power, 5 speed for increased control, and rapidstop brake for enhanced safety.
the powerstate brushless motor delivers 3,500- 8,500 rpm and maximum sustained power to complete the toughest grinding and cutting applications to push cordless angle grinders harder and longer than ever before.
redlink plus intelligence ensures unmated levels of performance, protection, and compatibility. the m18 redlithium high output xc6. 0 batteries (not included) deliver 50% more power while running 50% cooler than the m18 redlithium xc batteries.
the variable speed dial provides 5-speed settings between 3,500 rpm and 8,500 rpm allowing for greater control in more applications. with tool-free accessory and guard adjustments, experience faster accessory changes and less downtime.
the m18 fuel 4-1/2″ / 5″ variable speed angle grinder takes cordless tools to the next level in performance, run-time, and application versatility.
Variable speed on a grinder is not a need but rather a necessity for me, so seeing this grinder available in the UK and Australian markets for months, waiting for it to finally be available here, has been painful.
Seeing it listed was an early Christmas present, and I finally got my hands on it last week; I’m glad I waited as opposed to getting a non-variable speed or going with another brand. This grinder is excellent.
Plenty of power for its size (also have the 2980 if I need any more muscle), and the variable speed means I can use anything from abrasive, flap, and scotch discs to deburr and grinding wheels. The ergonomics are solid, easy to handle and doesn’t feel any heavier than my corded variable speed grinder (6117-33S); the thinner grip and extra weight of the battery in the rear makes it well balanced compared to the corded grinder.
The paddle trigger is easy to activate even one handed and can be maintained from a hand grip closer to the battery when necessary; variable speed dial has a satisfying click at all five settings vs the mushy feel to the corded model.
The brake varies from better than nothing to alarmingly quick to stop, depending on the weight of the wheel and the speed that is used; a 6″ x 1/2″ deburr wheel at setting two (4,500rpm) stops almost immediately while a 7″ abrasive disc plus backer at full throttle takes a good 3+ seconds.
Battery life again depends greatly on the size, speed, and weight of what you are using. Using the XC6. 0 High Output batteries and a Supercharger, I was barely getting down to two bars before the other battery was fully charged again while constantly using a deburr wheel; on the other hand it will blow through a full charge well before the other battery finishes if you are leaning on it heavily with a standard grinding wheel.
Whether that is acceptable is going to depend greatly on how it is going to be used on a daily basis. For me, the battery life is better than expected and perfectly acceptable for the tool. All in all, it is quickly becoming one of the first tools out of my box in the morning and one of the last tools to get put away at night.
I have used a Hilti corded grinder for over 30yrs. I am now a retired millwright and for years I also used the Dewalt cordless tools. About 4 years ago I replaced the Dewalt with Milwaukee M18. I instantly loved them! Far superior to the Dewalt line up.
I started out with a 1/2″ drill, sawzall, 1/2″ high torque impact, 1/2″ mid range impact, 3/8″ impact and screw/nut runner. I recently added the jigsaw(AMAZING), and I just purchased this grinder. This is the best grinder I’ve ever used.
Great ergonomics! It will last for any small/medium project on one charge. I HIGHLY recommend ALL Milwaukee M18 tools!.

This is the first DeWalt power tool I have owned, and I’m very impressed with it! I had always assumed they were a Dutch company, but in fact they come from the States. Anyway, I needed a large 230mm grinder to cut an old cast-iron soilpipe in several places prior to removal, and this model seemed to fit the bill.
It’s got a powerful 2,000W motor, and has a good safety interlock, whereby you have to press a button on the top of the handle before you can press the power switch, avoiding unexpected starts. It also has a spindle lock button to lock the tool when changing blades, for which a two-pin spanner is included.
In use, it peformed well, slicing through the cast iron pipe in no time. You can fit the auxillary handle on the right or left side for maximum comfort. The only additional feature which I would have liked (and this is present on my smaller Makita angle grinder), is a lock-on button, so you can concentrate on the work without having to constantly apply pressure to the trigger switch- I’ve knocked a star off for this reason.
I suppose though, it’s a safety feature, so the power will be cut if something goes wrong, or if you accidentally drop the tool while using it. It’s a pretty heavy grinder at 5. 2 kilos, but this probably means that a lot of metal has been used in its construction, and less plastic parts.
Overall, I’m impressed with this tool, and would recommend it for anyone who needs a powerful, easy-to-use angle grinder.
Purchased one of these two days ago. Plugged it in to use in my workshop and as soon as I turned it on it tripped the main fuse. I tried it on a different circuit in the house, tripped that fuse as well.
Took it back yesterday, swapped for another with the same result. Took that one back and swapped it for an Erbouer model. Worked perfectly!.
Very pleased with this purchase. I’m a DIY’er laying a patio and needed a decent cutter to cut both straight and curves in Indian Sandstone paving. With the diamond tipped disc it made the job a dawdle.
A good solid angle grinder. It’s fairly weighty but not to a degree that it makes cutting the curves difficult. Interlock is always a good idea too so you don’t hit the trigger by accident as you are picking it up.
Good bit of kit, made short work of the slabs. Recommended.
There are many advantages to using a wet grinder over a dry grinder. Wet grinders create less heat and produce a finer grind, which results in less oxidation and more flavor preservation. Wet grinders also require less effort to clean and maintain than dry grinders.
Some cooks prefer wet grinders because they can grind wet ingredients like fresh ginger or garlic, which can be difficult to do in a dry grinder. Wet grinders also have the advantage of being able to grind smaller quantities of ingredients, which can be helpful when cooking for one or two people.
However, wet grinders do have some disadvantages. They can be more expensive than dry grinders, and they take longer to grind ingredients. Wet grinders also require more counter space and can be more difficult to store than dry grinders.
Overall, wet grinders have more advantages than disadvantages. If you are looking for a grinder that will create less heat and preserve more flavor, a wet grinder is a good choice. If you are looking for a grinder that is more affordable and easier to store, a dry grinder may be a better option.
